Samsung is expected to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 lineup in July. Alongside these devices, the company is also rumoured to launch its first wide-folding smartphone. While Samsung has not officially confirmed the upcoming foldables yet, multiple leaks and reports have already surfaced online. A fresh leak now suggests that the South Korean brand could adopt a new naming strategy for its book-style foldable series.

According to tipster Ice Universe on Weibo, Samsung may rename its upcoming foldable lineup. The tipster claims that the company’s flagship foldable phone will launch as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Meanwhile, the previously rumoured wide-folding model is now expected to debut simply as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Earlier rumours had suggested that the two devices would be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide.

However, Samsung now appears to be repositioning the lineup by introducing the Ultra branding to its premium foldable smartphone.

If true, this would mark the first time Samsung uses the Ultra branding for its Galaxy Z Fold series. The company first introduced the Ultra branding in its flagship Galaxy S lineup with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra back in 2020.

In a separate leak by the same tipster (Ice Universe) on X, we now have an image of the alleged screen protector for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. The leaked image offers a glimpse at the cover display design.

The leaked image suggests that the phone could feature squared-off display corners along with relatively slim bezels.

The tipster even overlaid the screen protector image with another device for comparison purposes.

The cover display is also shown with a centred hole-punch cutout, which is expected to house the selfie camera.

The latest leak further strengthens previous reports suggesting that Samsung’s wide-folding phone will offer a more traditional smartphone-like experience when folded, while opening into a nearly square-shaped 4:3 aspect ratio inner display for improved productivity.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide – Specifications (Expected)

According to leaks and rumours, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may feature a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch inner display with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The foldable smartphone is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. It could pack a 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.

In terms of cameras, Samsung may opt for a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Reports claim that the company could skip the telephoto camera in order to maintain a slimmer design profile.

The smartphone is also rumoured to weigh around 200 grams.

Galaxy Unpacked Event Expected on July 22

iPhone 20 Concept Renders Hint at Fully Curved Bezel-Less Design, Under-Display Face ID and No Physical Buttons

0

Highlights

  • Concept renders of the iPhone 20 show a fully curved bezel-less design, quad-curved OLED display, under-display Face ID and no physical buttons.
  • The phone is expected to feature Apple’s 2nm A21 chipset, a 200MP primary camera, and possibly silicon-carbon battery technology.
  • Apple may skip the iPhone 19 branding and launch the iPhone 20 in 2027 to mark the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone.

If reports are to be believed, Apple is still months away from launching the iPhone 18 lineup. However, a new concept render video has already given a possible glimpse at what could become the iPhone 20. The latest renders suggest that Apple may be planning one of the biggest design overhauls in iPhone history.

The render video was shared by the YouTube channel fpt. According to the details shared in the video, it appears the “iPhone 20” is already in the early stages of production. Although Apple has not officially confirmed any details, the concept appears to combine several rumours and reports that have surfaced over recent months.

Notably, the concept renders have been designed based on information from supply chain sources and reports published by Bloomberg’s trusted Apple source Mark Gurman. Here’s a closer look at what we know from the new renders.

iPhone 20 Could Feature an Almost Bezel-Free Design

According to the renders shown in the video, the iPhone 20 may arrive with an almost bezel-less design featuring glass flowing seamlessly across all four edges of the device. The smartphone is shown with a full-glass rear panel, under-display Face ID technology and completely button-free sides.

The render video claims that the iPhone 20 series may introduce three major design upgrades.

The first major change could be a quad-curved display. Apple is reportedly said to be working with Samsung on a custom OLED panel that curves slightly on all four edges of the screen.

The second major change may involve the removal of the Dynamic Island. Reports suggest that Apple could place both the selfie camera and the Face ID system completely underneath the display panel.

The third major change is related to the removal of physical buttons. Instead of traditional power and volume buttons, Apple may use solid-state touch-sensitive controls paired with vibration-based haptic feedback.

iPhone 20 – Expected Hardware Upgrades

Apart from the redesigned exterior, the iPhone 20 is also expected to receive major hardware improvements. Reports claim the device could be powered by Apple’s next-generation 2nm A21 chipset.

The smartphone is also tipped to feature a 200-megapixel primary camera sensor with improved HDR capabilities. In addition, Apple is reportedly considering silicon-carbon battery technology for the iPhone 20 lineup.

According to reports, Apple is currently working with both Samsung and LG to address technical challenges related to the quad-curved display technology. One of the biggest issues reportedly involves brightness reduction around the curved edges of the panel.

Under-display Face ID technology is also said to be a major challenge for Apple, as the company would need to ensure that the system maintains fast unlocking performance while also preserving selfie camera quality.

iPhone 20 Possible Moniker Strategy

One aspect that may raise questions is the naming of the device itself. Since Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 this year, the 2027 lineup would normally be expected to carry the iPhone 19 branding. However, rumours suggest Apple could skip directly to the iPhone 20 name to mark the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone.

Apple has previously adopted a similar strategy. Back in 2017, the company skipped the iPhone 9 branding and introduced the iPhone X to celebrate the iPhone’s tenth anniversary. The iPhone X brought major changes including Face ID and a near edge-to-edge display design, which later became standard across future iPhones.

The upcoming iPhone 20 is now rumoured to follow a similar anniversary focused approach.

FAQs

Q1. What major design changes are shown in the iPhone 20 concept renders?

Answer. The renders suggest a quad-curved bezel-less OLED display, under-display Face ID, and the removal of physical buttons in favour of touch-sensitive controls.

Q2. What hardware upgrades are expected for the iPhone 20?

Answer. Leaks point to Apple’s 2nm A21 chipset, a 200MP primary camera, and possible silicon-carbon battery technology for improved efficiency and longevity.

Q3. Why might Apple skip the iPhone 19 name?

Answer. Reports indicate Apple could jump directly to iPhone 20 in 2027 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone, similar to how it introduced the iPhone X for the 10th anniversary.

Launch Timeline

In a separate development, tipster Debayan Roy @Gadgetsdata also posted on X claiming that the tablet could launch in India during the third quarter of 2026. However, OnePlus has not officially confirmed any details regarding the tablet so far, so the leaked information should be considered cautiously for now.
