Apple iPhone 18 Pro Event – What to Expect?

While Apple will introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, the biggest expected announcement could be Apple’s first book-style foldable smartphone, expected to be named iPhone Ultra.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to use a wide-folding design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. It could retain a passport-like form factor when folded. Unlike the Pro models, however, the foldable iPhone is reportedly expected to feature a dual-camera setup on the rear rather than a triple-camera system. It could feature a Samsung-made foldable display on the inside with the screen potentially offering a minimal crease along the centre.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are reportedly likely to retain a design similar to their predecessors. However, the new models could feature larger camera lens cutouts compared with the previous generation.

The entire lineup including the iPhone Ultra is expected to be powered by Apple’s latest A20 Pro chipset.

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are also expected to join the new iPhones.

Upcoming Apple iPhone Ultra: What to Expect? Launch Date, Expected Price, Design and Specifications

0

Highlights

  • Apple is set to unveil its first foldable iPhone, possibly named iPhone Ultra, at the “Surprise and Shine” event on September 9.
  • Expected features: book-style foldable design, 7.76-inch inner display, 5.49-inch outer screen, A20 Pro chipset, 12GB RAM, dual 48MP rear camera, and 5,400–5,800mAh battery.
  • It could be priced somewhere between $2,000–$2,500 with storage options up to 1TB.

Apple is all set to host its next major hardware event next week and this year brings a major change to the iPhone lineup. Apart from the usual iPhone Pro and Pro Max models, the upcoming Apple event is much hyped as Apple prepares to finally unveil its first foldable iPhone, which may be called the iPhone Ultra.

Here’s everything we currently know about the expected iPhone Ultra including its launch date, price, design, display, cameras, performance and battery.

iPhone Ultra Launch

Apple has already announced that its much-anticipated ‘Surprise and Shine’ event will be held on September 9 at 10 am PT (10:30 pm IST). The event is scheduled to take place at the Steve Jobs Theatre in Apple Park, Cupertino, California.

Apple is also reportedly considering a return to a fully in-person product launch with its executives presenting the new products from the venue. The event will be available through Apple’s website and YouTube, while the Apple TV app is also expected to carry the livestream on both Apple and Android devices.

Although Apple has not officially confirmed the iPhone Ultra, the foldable is widely expected to be introduced alongside the flagship iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

iPhone Ultra – Expected Design and Display

The iPhone Ultra is going to be Apple’s first foldable smartphone and it appears the brand has decided to go with a book-style approach. Leaked dummy units suggest that Apple could take a different approach from some existing foldables by using a wider outer display rather than a tall and narrow cover screen.

When folded, the device is expected to have a passport-like form factor. Once unfolded, its larger internal screen could offer a tablet-style experience similar to the iPad mini.

Leaked schematics suggest that the foldable could measure 9.23mm thick at its thinnest point when folded excluding the rear camera module. The camera plateau itself is reportedly 4.46mm thick.

At the rear, the smartphone is expected to feature a horizontal, pill-shaped camera module. The module could house two cameras along with an LED flash and microphone. A USB Type-C port is expected at the bottom of the handset, while the outer display could feature a centrally positioned hole-punch cutout. The inner display is also reportedly expected to have a front camera cutout positioned towards the top-left corner.

Apple is also said to be working on the hinge and internal construction to make the display crease less noticeable. Reports claim that the company could use new adhesive technology along with other structural changes to make the crease almost invisible when the device is fully unfolded.

The main foldable screen is tipped to measure 7.76 inches, with a resolution of 2,713×1,920 pixels. When the phone is closed, users are expected to interact with a 5.49-inch outer display offering 2,088×1,422 pixels. Both screens are expected to follow a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Apple is also rumoured to bring back Touch ID on the iPhone Ultra instead of Face ID. This would be a significant change, considering that the last iPhone to feature Touch ID was the iPhone 8.

iPhone Ultra  – Expected Specifications

The alleged iPhone Ultra could be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chipset. The processor is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process, which could allow for higher transistor density while also improving performance and power efficiency compared with the current generation.

Apple is also reportedly exploring advanced chip packaging technology that could bring memory closer to the processor. Although the company does not generally disclose RAM specifications, the iPhone Ultra is rumoured to feature 12GB of RAM.

On the software front, the foldable is expected to run iOS 27, which Apple first announced during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 in June.

The first foldable iPhone is expected to feature a dual rear camera setup.

Both cameras are rumoured to use 48-megapixel sensors and the setup is expected to include a main camera and an ultra-wide camera. Apple is reportedly not planning to include a dedicated telephoto camera, potentially helping the company keep the internal hardware more compact. For selfies and video calls, the outer screen could feature a 24-megapixel hole-punch camera. The inner display is also expected to include a front-facing camera.

The iPhone Ultra could feature the largest battery capacity ever seen on an Apple smartphone. Current reports suggest a battery capacity between 5,400mAh and 5,800mAh. If accurate, this would give the foldable a larger battery than the capacity reportedly offered by the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

iPhone Ultra – Expected Price and Colour Options in India

Apple has not announced any pricing but leaked information points towards a price well above that of the company’s current Pro Max models. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has previously suggested a starting price of $2,000 (roughly Rs 1.75 lakh) or higher in the US.

Some other reports have placed the expected price between $2,000 and $2,500.

There is also a reported breakdown of three storage versions. According to this leak, the 256GB model could cost around $2,320, while the 512GB and 1TB variants could be priced at approximately $2,610 and $2,900, respectively.

As for colour options, some alleged camera protectors point to silver and dark blue finishes. Another leak has mentioned black, white and a Product Red-like option. However, Mark Gurman has claimed that the device will not be offered in red or green.

Notably, none of these hardware specifications, pricing details or features has been confirmed by Apple yet.

  • The smartphone could be Motorola’s first phone to ship with Android 17 and it is expected to feature around 6.3-inch compact display.
  • A leaked render suggests four colour options and a possible 200MP camera.

Motorola has officially confirmed that the Motorola Edge 70 Neo will be launched in India in the coming months. The confirmation comes shortly after reports suggested that Motorola had started testing Android 17 on the Edge 70 Neo. Meanwhile, a leaked render of the phone also surfaced later, giving us a possible look at its design and colour options.

In a recently released press note detailing announcements for IFA 2026, Motorola has confirmed that it will introduce several new products including the Edge 70 Plus, Watch Ultra, and Snap Wireless Charger. Among other products, the press note also mentions the soon-to-be-launched Motorola Edge 70 Neo.

The Lenovo-owned company has confirmed that the Motorola Edge 70 Neo will launch in India over the coming months. However, Motorola has not shared any specifications or other key details about the smartphone yet.

The upcoming phone could feature a relatively compact display of around 6.3 inches. The Edge 70 Neo could become Motorola’s first smartphone to ship with Android 17 out of the box, although this has not been officially confirmed yet.

Separately, a leaked image that surfaced last month reportedly showed the Edge 70 Neo in four colour options and a possible 200-megapixel primary camera. The image has the upcoming smartphone in pink, dark green, light green, and light blue colours.

However, there is some uncertainty over whether the leaked render actually belongs to the Edge 70 Neo. The design, colour options in the image are identical to those of the already launched Motorola Edge 70 Plus, which raises the possibility that the leaked image could actually be of the Edge 70 Plus rather than the Edge 70 Neo.

Another also a possibility that Motorola could use a similar design and the same colour options for both models.

As of now, Motorola has only confirmed the Edge 70 Neo’s existence and its upcoming India launch. More information about its specifications, design and features is expected to emerge in the coming days.

Now, the foldable has made its latest appearance on the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) database.  Here’s what we know about the latest certification and global launch.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra Get 3C Certification, 60W Charging Support Confirmed

0

Highlights

  • Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra spotted on China’s 3C certification platform with 60W fast charging support.
  • The Galaxy S27 lineup is expected to includes S27 with 45W charging, S27 Plus with 27W charging, Pro, and Ultra, all supporting wireless and reverse wireless charging.
  • The series is expected to launch globally in January 2027.

Samsung could be preparing to increase its focus on faster charging with the upcoming Galaxy S27 series. A new leaked certification has revealed that Samsung may offer 60W charging on the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra. That’s not all. The Galaxy S27 Pro is also expected to support the same charging speed. Here’s what we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro, S27 Ultra Charging Speed Revealed

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra 3C certified. (Screenshot by Anvin on X)
Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra 3C certified. (Screenshot by Anvin on X)

As revealed by tipster Anvin on X, two new Samsung smartphones with model numbers SM-S9570 and SM-S9580 have appeared in the database of China’s 3C certification platform. According to listings in the GSMA IMEI database, these devices are expected to launch as the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, respectively.

The 3C certification confirms that both smartphones will support 60W fast charging. However, following Samsung’s approach with its recent flagship phones, buyers should not expect a charger to be included in the retail boxes of either device.

The company’s flagship smartphones had been limited to 45W fast charging for several years. Samsung finally moved beyond that limit with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which introduced 60W fast charging.

Earlier this week, the Galaxy S27 (SM-S9520) and Galaxy S27 Plus (SM-S9650) were also spotted on China’s 3C certification platform. The standard Galaxy S27 was listed with support for 45W charging, while the Galaxy S27 Plus is expected to offer 27W charging.

The complete Galaxy S27 lineup is also expected to support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, giving users multiple options for charging their devices.

Galaxy S27 Series Could Launch in January 2027

Galaxy S27 series models have now appeared in China’s 3C database. This is considerably earlier than the Galaxy S26 series, which received its 3C certification in January 2026 before making its debut in March 2026. The early appearance of the Galaxy S27 lineup on the certification platform could indicate that Samsung is preparing for an earlier launch next year.

Based on the current certification timeline, the Galaxy S27 series could potentially be launched as early as January 2027.
