Samsung Unveils 200MP ISOCELL HPC Camera Sensor With DeepPix Technology for Better HDR, Zoom and Low-Light Photography

Samsung Unveils 200MP ISOCELL HPC Camera

Highlights

  • Samsung’s new 200MP ISOCELL HPC debuts DeepPix pixel design for brighter HDR, reduced noise, and better low‑light shots.
  • It supports single‑frame 16‑bit HDR across multiple zoom levels, plus 8K@30fps, 4K@180fps and FHD@360fps video recording.
  • Other specs include 1/1.3″ format, 0.6μm pixels, Tetra²pixel filter, Super QPD autofocus, Smart‑ISO Pro HDR and microlens + ARL tech for improved clarity.

Samsung has introduced its latest 200MP ISOCELL HPC smartphone camera sensor with several improvements focused on HDR photography, zoom performance, low-light imaging, and video recording. The new sensor features Samsung’s first DeepPix pixel architecture, which is designed to capture more light and deliver better overall image quality.

Samsung ISOCELL HPC Gets DeepPix Technology

The new ISOCELL HPC is based on Samsung’s ISOCELL technology but debuts the company’s new DeepPix architecture. According to Samsung, the new pixel design increases the Full Well Capacity (FWC) by 60 percent over the previous generation. This is achieved through Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) technology, which expands both the photodiode capacity and the shared floating diffusion.

As a result, the sensor is able to collect more light while reducing image noise, producing brighter highlights, deeper shadows, and a wider dynamic range in HDR images.

Samsung says the ISOCELL HPC also supports single-frame 16-bit HDR, enabling up to four times richer color expression compared to conventional HDR imaging. Instead of combining multiple exposures, the sensor captures HDR information in a single frame, helping preserve natural colours and fine details even in difficult lighting conditions such as bright sunlight or strong backlighting.

For video recording, the new sensor supports 8K video recording at 30fps and 4K video recording at up to 180fps. It can also record Full HD videos at up to 360fps without autofocus.

HDR Support Across Multiple Xoom Levels

One of the key highlights of the ISOCELL HPC is its HDR support across multiple in-sensor zoom levels. While many existing smartphone camera sensors limit HDR to certain zoom ranges, Samsung’s new sensor extends single-frame HDR support across 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 3x, and 4x zoom levels.

The sensor also uses intelligent in-sensor downscaling to maintain image quality and dynamic range throughout the zoom range, offering more consistent results at different focal lengths.

Samsung ISOCELL HPC Specifications

The Samsung ISOCELL HPC features a 1/1.3-inch optical format with 0.6μm pixels and an effective resolution of 16,384 × 12,288 pixels. It comes equipped with Samsung’s Tetra²pixel colour filter, Super QPD autofocus, and Smart-ISO Pro HDR technology. The sensor supports RAW10, RAW12, RAW14, and RAW16 output formats.

Samsung has also added High Precision Microlens and High Transmittance ARL technologies, which help direct more light to each photodiode while reducing reflections. These technologies are expected to improve image clarity and colour accuracy across different lighting conditions.

As of now, it is unclear which device will be the first to feature the new 200MP ISOCELL HPC sensor.

Realme has already confirmed that the Realme 16x 5G will launch in India on August 12 at 12 PM IST. Ahead of its debut, a fresh leak has revealed new details about the upcoming smartphone. Tipster Sanju Choudhary @saaaanjjjuuu has shared an image that appears to show the retail box of the handset. Here are more details.

According to the tipster post, the leaked image shows the rear side of the Realme 16x 5G retail box. The image reveals the 6GB + 128GB variant with the model number RMX5270.

The leak reveals that the box MRP is Rs 54,999. However, this is unlikely to be the actual retail price, as smartphone brands often mention a much higher MRP on retail packaging than the expected market price.

The leaked retail box also reveals the accessories that will be included inside the package. Buyers can expect to get the handset, charger, USB data cable, SIM ejector tool, quick start guide, and a protective case in the box.

Since the device is reportedly positioned as an offline-focused model, the tipster believes it could launch at a price of under Rs 30,000.

Earlier reports suggested that the handset will be available in 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 256GB storage variants. While the company has not officially announced the pricing, previous leaks indicate that the smartphone could be priced under Rs 25,000 in India.

Redmi Note 17 5G First Impressions: Seven things to note about the latest Note

0
Redmi Note 17 5G First Impressions

Highlights:

  • Redmi has officially released the Redmi Note 17 5G in the Indian market, and it goes on sale from Vivo has just released the Vivo S2 in the Indian market.
  • The Redmi Note 17 5G is actually the second series of Redmi Note series to be launched this year – the Redmi 15 series was launched earlier this year.
  • The Redmi 17 5G starts at Rs 27,999, and goes on sale on 12 August, 2026. Here is a quick look at seven notable features of the new Note.

There is a new Note in the Indian tech market, and we have it in our hands – the Redmi Note 17 5G. The Note series has been famous for its steady performance, making it the daily driver of millions of user. We will be seeing if the Redmi Note 17 5G (henceforth referred to as “Redmi Note 17” for reasons of brevity) continues this legacy, but as we get on with our review, here are seven features of the latest Note worth, well, noting:

Yes, it is another Note this year (no Note 16)

Xiaomi generally launches one Note series every year, but we are seeing two Note series in 2026. The Note 15 had been launched right at the beginning of the year, and now we have the Note 17.The Note series has also gone right from 15 to 17, skipping 16!

A massive AMOLED display at that price!

At a time when many brands are bringing LCD displays at the Rs 25,000 – Rs 30,000 price point, the Redmi Note 17 features a massive and brilliant AMOLED display. It is 6.9 inches in size and comes with 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. Very impressive, given soaring prices these days.

Monster battery

Xiaomi has referred to the Redmi Note 17 as “mAhster Edition.” And with good reason – the phone comes with a large 8000 mAh battery. The battery uses Silicon Carbon technology, allowing the phone to be 8.4 mm slim. Its charging speed is a rather modest 45W, although it can charge other devices at 22.5 W, which gives us proper power bank vibes! There is a 45W charger in the box too.

A spec sheet that fights on strong basics

That large display and high capacity battery apart, the Redmi Note 17 has broadly mid-segment specs. It runs on a lower mid-segment Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Generation 4 processor, and comes with 128 GB UFS 2.2 storage (expandable) and 6 GB and 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM.

Photography is handled by a 50 megapixel main camera (no OIS) and a basic secondary sensor, with selfies being the responsibility of a 8 megapixel front facing camera.

There is an in-display fingerprint scanner and an IR port, and a single (impressively loud) speaker handles sound. The Redmi Note 17 runs on HyperOS 3 with features like HyperIsland (a sort of Dynamic Island), on top of Android 16, with an assurance of 4 years of software updates and 6 years of security patches. This is a phone specced for daily life than for benchmarks.

Big “phablet” vibes!

The Redmi Note 17 is a pretty big phone – it is 169.7 mm tall, which makes it one of the tallest in the market, and at 79.14 mm is wide as well. Although it is on the slim side at 8.4 mm and at 225 grams, relatively light for its size, this is really what many of us called a phablet – a blend of a tablet and a phone!

Shimmering, eye-catching design

It might be big, but the Redmi Note 17 is beautiful too. The phone is available in three shades – Starlight Purple, Dark Night and Arctic Blue. We got the Starlight Purple unit and its shimmering back, which shows shiny star trails at certain angles got a lot of attention.

The shimmer is a touch of class for what is otherwise a straight forward design, with a front dominated by a large, flat display and straight sides. The back and frame are carbonate but the front comes with Gorilla Glass 7i protection and the phone itself has an IP65 rating, which means it can survive splashes of water easily.

Higher price, but stronger than ever basics

The Redmi Note 17 starts at Rs 27,999 for its 6 GB/ 128 GB variant, with a 8 GB/ 128 GB variant priced at Rs 30,999. This is significantly higher than the Redmi Note 15 which had launched earlier this year from Rs 22,999 onwards, but then so much has changed price-wise since those times.

Stay tuned for a detailed review.

Vivo S2 First Impressions: Seven things to note about Vivo’s stylish new phone

0

Highlights:

  • Vivo has just released the Vivo S2 in the Indian market.
  • Priced at Rs 39,999 onwards, the Vivo S2 marks the return of the design-oriented Vivo S series, which was last seen in India in 2019, with the Vivo S1.
  • Here’s a quick look at seven notable features of the Vivo S2.

We have got our hands on the just-launched Vivo S2. The device marks the return of the style and design-forward S series, and comes with a price tag of Rs 39,999, which puts it on the premium side of the mid-segment at a time of rising prices. Here are seven points about the new phone which caught our attention:

Sleek, Pixel-like looks with premium feels

Premium Design with Pixel-inspired Styling
Premium Design with Pixel-inspired Styling

At first glance, some might think that the Vivo S2 comes from Google’s Pixel family – it has a similar horizontal “camera bar” on the top of its back. It definitely makes the phone stand out from the regular crowd.

That’s not all. Even as most brands today have gone for flatter, straight looks, the Vivo S2 brings back a more curved form factor back to the market. We have got the Regal Bronze shade (there’s also Sapphire Blue and Silk White) and it will turn heads with its golden shine. Fortunately, it has a matte finish, so will not pick up too many smudges.

The back and the frame of the device are carbonate and not metal or glass, but this is not really noticeable. The S2 radiates premium looks and has excellent hand feel. It is pretty tough too – it comes with IP68 and IP69 Dust and Water Resistance, as well as Military Grade Durability.

A tall, slim and surprisingly light phone

Designed to Be Tall, Slim and Light
Designed to Be Tall, Slim and Light

The Vivo S2 is one of the tallest phones around at 164.4 mm – the iPhone 17 Pro Max is 163.4 mm in comparison. It is, however, relatively slim at 7.9 mm and surprisingly light at 197 grams. You will need two hands to use it, but it won’t seem like a burden.

Curved displays are back

A Stunning Curved AMOLED Display
A Stunning Curved AMOLED Display

The Vivo S2 brings back the curved display. Its front is dominated by a bright, 6.83 inch curved 3D AMOLED display which tapers over the sides, and has a 2800 x 1260 resolution with 120 Hz refresh rate. We have sound it to be very bright and vivid thus far. It is again a feature that makes the phone stand out as most devices now sport flat displays.

Solid, mid-segment specs

Beneath its very premium design, the Vivo S2 has a very mid-segment spec sheet. The 6.83 inch display is bright and vivid, and the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity-7360 Turbo processor. This is paired with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and storage options of 128 GB and 356 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. One also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers and an infra-red port.

This is not a gaming beast but will comfortably handle every day tasks and even a spot of heavy work from time to time. Like all Vivo phones, it runs on Origin OS6 on top of Android 16. It comes with an assurance of three years of Android updates and five years of security updates. As is common in the mid-segment, there is some bloatware (Facebook, ShareChat, Candy Crush Saga., etc) on the phone, but this can be uninstalled. The phone also comes with a number of AI tools.

Main camera star, and sorry, no Zeiss optics

50MP Main Camera Takes the Spotlight
50MP Main Camera Takes the Spotlight

The Vivo S2 comes with a 50 megapixel Sony IMX852 main sensor with OIS. However, this is paired with a rather nominal seeming 2 megapixel secondary camera. Selfies are handled by a 32 megapixel selfie camera. Both the main camera and the front camera support 4K, but there is no autofocus on the selfie camera, which might disappoint those expecting V series level selfies. On the other hand, there are stacks of shooting options and AI tools onboard, although there are no Zeiss optics (those are restricted to the V series and X series at the moment).

Big battery, middling charging

Massive 7050mAh Battery Inside
Massive 7050mAh Battery Inside

The Vivo S2 comes with a large 7050 mAh lithium ion battery with support for 44W FlashCharge. There is a 44W charger in the box too. There are phones with larger and faster charging batteries out there, but these are still very good numbers, and in our experience so far, the battery is easily lasting a day of mid to heavy use.

Price for the style, not the specs

The Vivo S2 is available at Rs 39,999 for its 8 GB/ 128 GB variant and Rs 44,999 for the 8 GB/ 256 GB variant. While there are devices with more powerful processors and more RAM at this price, the Vivo S2 is really all about style and for those who like to flaunt their phone.
