The pretty expensive iPhone 14 Pro Max has a clone and what’s interesting is that it can be bought by anyone for under Rs 10,000. Sounds exciting ?

Want to pick up the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but worried about the steep price tag? Well, Aliexpress always has some alternatives for you.

Exhibit A: the I14 Pro Max, an iPhone 14 Pro Max clone, which has been listed on the Chinese e-commerce platform for a fraction of what the original goes for.

Available for purchase globally, the 114 Pro Max has two listings (1,2) on Aliexpress (via Gizmochina) that reveal a design that looks eerily similar to the ultra-premium iPhone 14 Pro Max by Apple.

In certain user review photos, the back of the smartphone has been lifted off from the Apple flagship with a similar, albeit smaller, triple rear camera setup.

However, with a price tag of $89.69 (approx Rs 7,600) for the 2GB RAM variant and $126 (Rs 10,800 roughly) for the 6GB RAM model, it is probably futile to be disappointed.

Copied iPhone 14 Pro Max!

The duplicate of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is called the i14 Pro Max (well, an obvious choice!) and is now listed on AliExpress for anyone to purchase.

From a far-off look, the phone is the exact replica of the 14 Pro Max and it would be hard to differentiate. To recall, there was another clone that showed up on the 1688 website right after the iphone 14 series was launched.

The i14 Pro Max has the same flat-edge design with a glass-like and premium finish. The back is seen with a huge hump with the cameras arranged in a triangle (although, only two work).

The major difference, however, is the small ‘Dynamic Island,” which looks like a simple elongated punch-hole without any functionality.

Plus, green, light purple, and grey colors along with the lack of the Apple logo will easily help you figure out the truth.

There are gold and silver colors and this fully resembles the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Of course, there’s a difference in the internals. The i14 Pro Max comes in two variants.

The other model has a bigger 6.8-inch display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a smaller 2,550mAh battery, and a 2MP rear and a 2MP selfie shooter. Both support facial recognition.

While the i14 Pro Max with a 6.5-inch display is priced at SG$ 179.37 (~ Rs 10,800), the variant with the 6.8-inch display retails at SG$ 127.35 (~ Rs 7,700). This is way, way cheaper than the starting price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is Rs 1,39,900.

And, did we tell you that this iPhone 14 Pro Max clone runs Android? Yeah, I mean there is no other option given Apple does not make available its iOS for open source boot loading.

That said, the specifications listed on Aliexpress include a full-HD+ 6.5-inch AMOLED (!!) display with a 95 percent screen-to-body ratio and 120Hz refresh rate that, pardon us, we find really hard to swallow at that price.

Furthermore, the smartphone is claimed to come with face unlock, a MediaTek MTK6753 processor, 6GB RAM, 128 GB storage, 2800mAh battery, 8+16MP cameras, and dual SIM card support.

Interestingly, the face unlock technology on the front looks narrower than even the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which makes us wonder whether this seller on Aliexpress really did figure out a way to refine it further (not).

Just to be clear, we never condone these kinds of clones and advise you to stay away from such listings. Honestly, it is a matter of time before these clones are delisted from Aliexpress, and better to stay wary and be sorry after you repent such a purchase.

iPhone 14 Pro Max clones are sold with Apple’s logo, iOS interface, and more

A Chinese YouTuber @Amazing Unboxing shared two iPhone 14 Pro Max clones in his latest video which were bought from the local market. The clone came in the iPhone 13 Pro Max box; a thin black box, with packing stickers and information.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max clone had the same white protective cover on the screen and came with a charging cable and instruction manual and stickers. The UI of the clone is the same as iOS with widgets and apps on the Home Screen, search interface, and other features.

On the back, the smartphone has Apple’s logo. Although the rear camera module is larger, the lenses give the clone away. The lenses have a larger white part which is not the same as iPhone 12 Pro or later Pro model. The camera quality is oka-ish but does not focus and zoom in or out.

However, it appears that the clone smartphone does not have FaceID, and the Youtuber did not test the selfie camera. Maybe the notch is decorative and not functional. He did not share the price of the clone but in the description, he mentions that clones for the entire iPhone 14 series are available.

Per a report, these are not regular iPhones. Designed by iDesign, the handsets are adorned with 24-karat gold.

The devices are also engraved with each player’s name, jersey, and Argentinian logo.

As per a report in The Sun, the special gold devices have each player’s names, jersey numbers and the Argentinian logo engraved on them. The report also states that Messi had the phones delivered to his apartment over the weekend.

Argentina won the FIFA World Cup 2022 by defeating France and this was Messi’s first world cup trophy.

The publication’s source told them that Messi had intended to do something ‘special and blingy’ to celebrate the moment. “He got in touch with entrepreneur Ben Lyons and they came up with the design together,” the publication’s source added.

CEO of iDesign Gold, Ben, was also quoted as saying, “Lionel is not only the Goat but he’s one of IDESIGN GOLD’s most loyal customers and got in touch with us a couple of months after the World Cup final.

While the report does not reveal the iPhone model gifted, the triple rear camera setup in the image suggests it could be the iPhone Pro.

The Magic Blue colour variant back panel looks uber cool when it changes colour from light to dark blue in different light conditions and angles. Similarly, the Noble Black colour variant back panel changes its colour from the starry night sky to flickering light grey.

To watch a live wallpaper’s animation, iPhone users had to long press on the display.

However, this feature trigger gesture was creating an issue when the Cupertino giant decided they want to introduce a customisable lock screen.

The customisable lock screen feature was already implemented on Apple Watch and was also triggered by a long press gesture.

So, therein the issue Apple was facing. To bring the custom lock screen feature to iPhone, Apple would either have to introduce a new gesture to trigger it or remove the live wallpapers feature altogether so that the long press would bring up the custom lock screen interface just like on Apple Watch.

Moreover, removing live wallpapers also united the user experience of the iPhone and Apple Watch by making both devices more intuitive to use.

Following the lifelong policy of prioritising consistency and seamlessness over an abundance of features, Apple decided to let go of the Live Wallpaper feature from iOS 16 update to free up the long press gesture.

In another speculation, it is being widely reported that based on Apple’s own internal data, not many people were using live or dynamic wallpapers as the years passed.

So, removing the feature wasn’t likely to cause much disappointment to users.

In a very similar move, Apple had earlier let go of the very popular 3D Touch feature with iPhone 11 claiming that very few people were using that feature too.

This is the latest V27-series model from the company after the vanilla Vivo V27 and Vivo V27 Pro that debuted in India on March 1st.

The Vivo V27e comes as a premium mid-range offering but is limited to 4G network connectivity.

There is a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper, an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, triple camera sensors, and flat edges with narrow bezels on the screen.

Along with the Vivo V27 series, Vivo has launched the Vivo TWS Air earbuds in India. These are the company’s latest true wireless earbuds.

They come with Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity with support for AAC audio codec, 14.2mm dynamic drivers, and 117ms low latency gaming.

There is support for DeepX 2.0, which Vivo Golden Ear Acoustics Lab tunes with three personalised styles. The earbuds and the case are claimed to last up to 25 hours.
