Xiaomi 13 Ultra Launch Timeline Tipped; Latest Leak Suggests Global Debut Happening in May 2023: No Xiaomi 13S series this year

0

HIGHLIGHTS

* Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be the company’s latest flagship smartphone.
* As per reports, it is launching in May 2023.
* Initial rumours had suggested an MWC 2023 launch timeline.
* The phone will get a 1-inch camera sensor, as per leaks.
* The live image of the phone has leaked in the past.

Xiaomi recently launched the 13 Pro in India. The new Xiaomi flagship smartphone came with a launch price of Rs 79,999 in India.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is still priced lower than in the European markets, where it is available for EUR 1,299 (roughly Rs 1,13,500).

Xiaomi is now rumoured to launch another flagship smartphone in various markets. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is tipped to launch soon. According to a new leak, the Chinese smartphone maker will make its Ultra flagship available in various markets.

Xiaomi has not confirmed any details about the same. However, some details about the phone have leaked online.

Let’s take a look at the Xiaomi 13 Ultra specifications, launch timeline and other details known so far.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is lately the most-anticipated smartphone from the Chinese phone-maker’s stable.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

The most recent leak is here, and it talks about the phone’s global launch timeline. This is particularly interesting since Xiaomi did not launch their half-year upgrade, the Xiaomi 12S series, globally last year and restricted it to China.

As per a tweet by reputed tipster SnoopyTech, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will launch in May 2023.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

This information suggests the launch has been pushed two months later than the initially expected February release.

The leak does indeed come from a trusted source, considering SnoopyTech has been accurate about certain high-profile leaks before.

Notably, predecessor Xiaomi 12S Ultra was launched in China in July last year, but did not make it to global markets.

The 13 Ultra, however, is expected to come to international markets, which was confirmed by Xiaomi CEO as early as August 2022.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra Launch Timeline Tipped

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be the company’s most premium offering for 2023. The phone is expected to officially launch in various markets later this year. A new leak suggests that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will launch in the second quarter of 2023.

Tipster Ice Universe first revealed that the phone will launch in global markets.

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which was launched last year in China, did not make it to global markets.

This might be good news for Xiaomi fans and enthusiasts who want to try the company’s top-of-the-line offering.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

The 13 Ultra is said to retain the design of the 12S Ultra, which has a DSLR camera lens-like camera module design.

The 12S Ultra sported a huge circular camera module on the back with a golden ring around it. The rest of the rear panel had a faux leather finish which felt a lot similar to DSLR camera bodies.

Following tipster Ice Universe’s leak, another tipster, Snoopy Tech, revealed the 13 Ultra will launch in May 2023.

Xiaomi has not confirmed any details about the same. Therefore, we advise taking the leaked details with a pinch of salt.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

The 13 Ultra live image was leaked online in the past. The alleged device reported online has a white covering but shows the camera module design, which is similar to what we mentioned above.

The phone has a quad-camera setup. There is the Leica branding at the centre of the camera module. The phone also has what seems like a dual LED flash.

The leaked camera module design of the alleged 13 Ultra suggests that the phone will have a periscope camera.

It might also get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC or possibly the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC if Qualcomm launches one.

As expected, there will be a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50MP camera sensor.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra

The device is likely to launch with a 6.7-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will also have a curved-edge display with a hole-punch cutout at the top centre.

The phone will launch with Android 13 out of the box and have MIUI 14 on top.

Xiaomi is expected to launch the phone in China first, followed by other markets.

FAQ’s on Xiaomi 13 Ultra

1) What are the features of Xiaomi 13 Ultra ?

Ans) As for features, the back case images of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra were leaked online recently.

While the images didn’t give out much, they did reveal a massive circular rear camera module.

This is reminiscent of the 12S Ultra, which sports a similar design, again igniting a theory which circulated last year which suggested the Xiaomi13 Ultra may be a modified 12S Ultra.

The rear setup could house four cameras, laser autofocus, LED flash, and other features.

2) What are the specifications of Xiaomi 13 Ultra?

Ans) In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is rumoured to get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen 2 SoC, coupled with 12GB of RAM. It is further expected to sport a large 6.9-inch display, with resolution and refresh rate unknown.

The phone could get a combo of two 50MP and two 12MP rear cameras, and a 32MP selfie camera up front. And, there could be a 5,500mAh battery providing you the much-needed juice on this flagship device.

As a side note, the Chinese giant has also confirmed that there will be no Xiaomi 13S Ultra smartphone, as the company looks to ditch the half-yearly models.

Whether this is a permanent decision, or one that is a result of processor procurement issues, is something that remains to be seen.

The handset has an octa-core chipset with one primary core clocked at 2.92 GHz, three secondary cores clocked at 2.50 GHz, and four power-saving cores clocked at 1.80 GHz.

This is paired with an 8GB of RAM, which helps the device score 390 in TensorFlow Lite NNAPI interface test.

While the listing doesn’t reveal the chipset name, the report claims it to be Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 SoC.

If so, this is an apparent step down for the new Realme GT Neo 5 phone from Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC.

A previous report suggested Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 SoC for the Realme GT Neo 5 SE.
The same report also revealed that the handset will sport a 6.74-inch flat OLED display with a resolution of 2772x1240p, a refresh rate of 144Hz, PWM dimming of 2160Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,100 nits. In optics, the handset is said to feature a 16MP sensor for selfies and video calling on the front.

Around the back, the phone may pack a triple rear camera unit with 64MP OmniVision primary sensor, an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP sensor.

The phone is also likely to pack a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.

Pixel 7a specifications (leaked)

As for the performance, the handset is said to be powered by the Tensor G2 SoC manufactured by Google and Samsung.

This is the same processor that also drives the performance of the flagship Pixel 7 series. The performance is further boosted using LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage standards.
The upcoming smartphone will feature a dual rear camera setup in the imaging department.

The primary sensor will be a 64MP Sony IMX787 unit and a 12MP ultrawide lens. The Sony IMX787 CMOS Exmor RS image sensor is the flagship sensor that can capture brilliant low-light shots with high dynamic range.

The front camera is currently unknown, but we can expect it to be the same 10.8MP lens as its more expensive siblings – Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

The Pixel 7a is said to boot stock Android 13 out of the box. According to the leak, the handset will support 5W wireless charging. As of now, nothing else is known about the upcoming smartphone.

The leaked renders have revealed that the Pixel 7a will get incremental design changes. The rear panel house the same horizontal visor-like strip for the dual-camera setup. The LED flash module is on the same strip but on the other side.

Pixel 7a’s power and volume buttons are on the right, whereas the SIM tray is on the left. At the bottom edge lies the USB Type-C port with the speaker grille next to it.

Meanwhile, let us take a look at the specifications of the Pixel 6a. The Google Pixel 6a features a 6.1-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with support for a standard 60Hz refresh rate.

It has an aspect ratio of 20:9, HDR support, always-on display with now playing. For protection, the smartphone uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Google Pixel 6a draws its power from the in-house Tensor chipset paired with 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB storage.

The smartphone runs Android 12 OS outside of the box but will get an Android 13 update this fall.

In terms of cameras, the Pixel 6a features a dual-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 12.2MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies.

For connectivity, the Pixel 6a has 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 LE, GPS, and a USB Type C port.

Under the hood, there is a 4306mAh battery that drives the show with support for an 18W fast charger.

Faq’s on Google Pixel

1) What are the specifications of Pixel 7a similar to Pixel 6a?

Ans) Pixel 7a will launch with a 6.1-inch FHC+ 90hz OLED display. The handset will have the same Tensor G2 chipset that is on Pixel 7 series ticking at its core. The chipset will be paired with LPDDR5 RAM and fast UFS 3.1 storage.

If previous reports are anything to go by, the handset could be equipped with at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage onboard.

In optics, the Pixel 7a is said to feature dual rear cameras comprising 64MP Sony IMX787  primary sensor and a 12MP secondary sensor.

There is no word on the front camera yet, but rumours are that it could feature the 10.8MP lens as the Pixel 7and the Pixel 7 Pro .

Besides this, the phone will boot Android 13 out of the box. The handset is said to feature 5W wireless charging solution.

Google Pixel Fold allegedly spotted in public ahead of the Official Launch, See Images as First Leak

Google Pixel Fold

HIGHLIGHTS

* Google Pixel Fold has been spotted in the hands of a person riding on the New York City Subway.
* The foldable has been completely covered but the black bezels are noticeable.
* The design appears to be similar to the OPPO Find N2, with a compact cover screen and a large folding display.

Google’s long-awaited Pixel Fold smartphone is expected to launch this year. The tech giant teased its first-ever foldable phone at its annual Google I/O event in 2022.

Rumours suggest that the company will unveil the Pixel Fold at the upcoming Google I/O 2023 event which is set to be held in May.

Google phones have a history of being spotted on planes, trains and other public transports before their official launch.

This time, some blurry shots of the upcoming Pixel Fold have reportedly been uploaded online making them the first live leak of the upcoming foldable smartphone.

Google Pixel Fold has allegedly been spotted in public, ahead of its rumoured launch on May 10th at the I/O 2023.

A Redditor has shared images of a person using the foldable on the New York City Subway.

The Redditor claims to have seen a Google Employee holding the Pixel Fold in his hands.

We can catch a glimpse of what appears to be the phone’s cover screen and its noticeable black bezels through the images. Check it out.

Google Pixel Fold Live Images Pixel Fold

Google Pixel Fold

From the images, we only get to see the cover screen of the foldable, while the actual unfolded large screen is not visible. The design appears to be similar to the OPPO Find N2, with a compact cover screen and a large folding display. The Google Pixel Fold live images also reveal the person watching a video.

This is the first time we are seeing the Google Pixel Fold live and we expect to come across more such images in the near future. The phone will be available in Black colour but there could be other options as well.

Google Pixel Fold’s First Live Leak

Google Pixel Fold

According to a report by 9to5Google, a Reddit user took four shots after spotting the Pixel Fold on a New York City subway.

Out of these four images, only of them is a bit clear while the remaining ones are quite blurry to decipher. The clear image shows a folded device that the user is holding in the landscape orientation with the hinge exposed above the screen.

The image also shows the curve of the screen in the bottom-right corner. Meanwhile, the outer display’s edge and a metallic/reflective hinge are visible on top of the screen. Previously leaked renders showed Pixel Fold in lighter and darker variants.

However, the latest image likely showed the black colour option.

Pixel Fold’s leaked image also shows the screen in full screen mode. However, the top edge was covered and the front-facing camera wasn’t visible.

Earlier renders suggest that the selfie camera should be at the right and slimmer bezels.
The Reddit users also alleged seeing the ‘distinctive’ camera bar of the Pixel Fold.

Google Pixel Fold: What to expect

Google Pixel Fold

The Google Pixel Fold is expected to arrive with a wider display and an UI optimised for large-screens. This optimisation is likely to fit two apps side-by-side while multi-tasking. Google’s rumoured foldable is likely to have a bigger battery than both Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Oppo Find N2.

Faqs on Google Pixel Fold

1) Expected Features of Google Pixel Foldable?

Ans) Although there is little about the foldable smartphone that can be said with certainty, its features have been revealed by the tipsters who have claimed that the handset might feature a 7.57 inch inner display while the outer folded display might be 5.78 inch and also come with an ultra-thin glass cover.

It may also have a triple rear shooter with an IMX787 primary sensor, an S5K3J1 telephoto shooter and an IMX386 ultra-wide secondary camera while the foldable smartphone’s outer display with have an S5K3J1 telephoto selfie shooter as well.

Again, while not specified, the names of the foldable smartphones are said to be Pixel Notepad and Pixel Fold, which has to be confirmed by official sources, including its manufacturing details, which might be done by Foxconn China.

2) What is Google Pixel Fold rumored release date?

Ans) The Google Pixel Fold’s release date has long been open to speculation, now Front Page Tech has said it could launch in May 2023 along with the Pixel Tablet.
For what it’s worth that would line up with Google’s annual developer conference. And Google 1/0 2023 is slated for May 10.

It’s not unusual for Google to show off upcoming hardware at Google I/O. At the 2022 edition, we saw previews of the Pixel 6a and Pixel 7 phones.

Display analyst Ross Young has suggested the Pixel Fold could arrive in the first quarter of 2023, at least going by his forecast of panel shipments and production.

Now that we’re in March, this seems like a longshot, but hopefully, we’ll see the Pixel Fold next year before the summer comes calling.

If you want yet another opinion, another source claims the Pixel Fold could instead arrive in late summer/early fall.

That would coincide with the likely launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, but is far later than either of the other two sources are saying.

3) What is Google Pixel Fold price?

Ans) Some rumors indicate that the Pixel Fold could cost less than the Galaxy Z Fold line, while others say that it could as much as Samsung’s top tier foldables.
Front Page Tech has just said that the Pixel Fold could cost as much as $1,799 which is much more expensive than the Pixel 7 series and as much as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.

9to5Google earlier reported that the Pixel Fold could cost less than the Galaxy Z Fold line, and more specifically around $1,400, which would be a welcome move.

Right now, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the most expensive foldable you can get, costing $1,799.

Flip phones like the new Galaxy Z Flip 4 or Motorola Razr 5G are a little more affordable at $999 and $1,399, respectively – affordable being a relative term in this case.

Google’s approach with its most recent Pixel phones has been to undercut the competition, with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro both very competitively priced.

In fact, we think it’s one of the ways the Google Pixels beat the current iPhone and Galaxy phones.

5) What is Google Pixel Fold design?

Ans) Going by the rumors thus far, the Google Pixel Fold could look a lot like a thicker Google Pixel7 Pro from the outside, and then fold out like a Galaxy Z Fold 4 to reveal its larger internal display.

But unlike the latter phone, the Pixel Fold could have a shorter but wider outside display, offering a look that’s not too far away from the Oppo Find N.

New Google Pixel Fold renders seemingly based on leaked information, showcase this design and hint at a folding phone that sits between the Find N and Galaxy Z Fold 4, although one that will apparently weigh a lot more than either model.

A later plastic dummy of the Pixel Fold, presumably based on these leaks, was later revealed, showing how the design looks in reality, albeit with some of the features missing.

One Reddit user also claims to have seen the Pixel Fold in use on the New York Subway.
While the images they shared were inconclusive, it’s claimed that the phone has a block-shaped camera module similar to that seen in renders and on other Pixel phones.

Apparently the foldable Pixel will feature a 7.69-inch inner display and a 5.79-inch outer display, and measure 158.7 × 139.7 × 5.7mm (6.2 × 5.5 × 0.2 inches) when unfolded, or 8.3mm deep (0.3 inches) if you include the Pixel 7-style shiny metal camera bar.

And it’ll supposedly be available in either silver or black.

Developer Kuba Woiciechowski has leaked key display details of the Google Pixel Fold noting the resolution of the inner display is expected te be 2208 × 1840.

This is extremely close to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 specs as well that has a 7.6-inch inner display.

The inside display will also reportedly have a 120Hz refresh rate, although the leaker is not certain about this. In terms of brightness, we could see the display get 1200 nits of peak brightness with an average brightness of 800 nits.

One rumor suggests that the Pixel Fold could have a novel solution to avoiding the notch.
The rumor suggests it could have the camera on the bezel of the phone or it could do away with a camera altogether when the phone is opened out.

This rumor seems to have substance. Google’s latest patents show an in-bezel camera instead of a notch or pinhole.

This means that the Pixel Fold could opt to forgo the under-display camera at the expense of having as little bezel as possible.
