Android 14 was anticipated to be unveiled at the Google I/O 2023, but this did not occur and is said to come later this year. However, the company announced some intriguing Android 14 features.

The initial Android 14 developer preview was launched in February. The tech giant made the first public beta version of Android 14 available in April, and it is currently downloadable for compatible phones.

Let us take a look at the features of Android 14 and the list of eligible devices for Android 14 beta builds.

Android 14 features

At I/O 2023, Google officially unveiled the latest version of its mobile operating system — the Android 14. While the first beta of the same was limited to Pixel smartphones, the 2nd beta has been made available for partner phones, tablets, and foldables.

Android 14’s new core features include iOS 16-like customisable lock screen, improved camera experience, lossless audio over USB, and a lot more. Google has also highlighted that the Android 14 can now take better advantage of the GPU to deliver an enhanced graphics experience.

* Magic Compose: It is a new tool in Messages by Google that uses AI to help users add more personality to their conversations. It will suggest replies based on the context of their messages and even magically change the style of what they write.

* Find My Device: As part of Android 14, Google said it will update Find My Device later this summer to work with a bigger range of devices from different brands, like headphones, tablets, and more. This will help users keep track of all their devices. And to keep users safe and protect their privacy, unknown tracker alerts will let them know if an unrecognized tracking tag is following them and help them find it.

* Lock screen customisation: With Android 14, users will be able to customise their lock screen with new shortcuts and clocks that are beautifully designed. This will enable users to bring their own inspiration to their devices. Additionally, users have the option to experiment with a fresh monochromatic colour scheme that can be implemented throughout their entire phone interface.

* Emoji: With the emoji wallpaper feature, you can select up to fourteen different emoji, browse through a range of patterns, and choose a colour scheme to create a personalised wallpaper for both your home and lock screen. The wallpapers featuring emojis are designed to be interactive, meaning that the emojis on the wallpaper will react whenever you touch them.

* Cinematic wallpapers: The cinematic wallpaper feature allows users to transform any photo from their camera roll into a 3D image with motion effects, which can then be used as a background. By using a sparkle icon button, you can create a parallax effect for your photos that responds to the tilt of your device.

Android 14 features

Google has partnered with iQOO, Lenovo, Nothing, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Tecno, vivo, and Xiaomi to further develop and optimise Android 14. It is also interesting to note that Samsung is missing from the Android 14 beta program.

If you recently bought a flagship smartphone from either of these brands, your device is likely to get the early beta build of Android 14.
