OnePlus 13 to feature new 50MP Sony IMX882 sensors for periscope and ultrawide cameras
Redesigned rear camera array with a central circular cutout
Expected to maintain 3x optical zoom capabilities
Anticipated December debut in China
There’s plenty for OnePlus fans to look forward to when the OnePlus 13 comes around if the rumours of exciting changes to the phone’s camera setup come to fruition.
The main 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor is again tipped to remain the same as the OnePlus 12, but the supporting cast of cameras could get a serious boost.
New OnePlus 13 Camera Rumours
OnePlus 13 to feature new 50MP Sony IMX882 sensors for periscope and ultrawide cameras
According to the latest report by tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 13 will continue to feature a triple rear camera setup but with two significant changes.
The rumour mill has revealed that the periscope and ultrawide cameras will abandon their earlier sensors in favour of the newer 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor.
The Sony IMX882 sensor is currently used by mid-tier phones such as the China-exclusive OnePlus Ace 3Vand the POCO F6.
For its part, the OnePlus 12 had used a 64MP Omnivision OV64B sensor for its telephoto lens and 48MP Sony IMX581 sensor for its ultrawide camera.
Tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 13 will continue to feature a triple rear camera setup
While it’s still a bit too early to say exactly what this shift in sensor will actually translate toin terms of real-world camera performance.
OnePlus loyalists will be hoping this can be an asset in overcoming the low-light limitations the OnePlus 12’s admittedly reliable but somewhat struggling camera system is often plagued by in darker conditions.
The OnePlus 13 is still anticipated to offer 3x optical zoom capabilities.
Along with the camera hardware upgrades, there have been earlier leaks that suggested a redesigned rear camera array of this OnePlus 13.

The reports claim there will be a departure from the current offset design of the phone to a more aesthetically pleasing central circular cutout.
With the OnePlus 13 still several months away from its expected December debut in China, there’s plenty of time before more leaks and confirmations of these exciting camera upgrades come out.
Stay tuned as we get closer to the official unveiling for more details on what promises to be a noteworthy upgrade for OnePlus’s flagship camera capabilities.

Leaked renders show Pixel 9 and Pixel Fold 2 design with cases
Pixel Fold 2 features taller outer screen and refined design
Pixel 9 series showcases new oval-shaped camera module
Four models expected in the Pixel 9 series, breaking previous trends
With expectation building over Google’s Pixel line-up, most eyes are set on the Pixel 9 series and, more noticeably, the Pixel Fold 2.
Though the design of the successor to the Pixel 8 series was already shown through 5K renders, amongst other leaks.
Now a new leak by a case manufacturer shows us how the Pixel 9 and Pixel Fold 2 would look like when covered in cases.
Leaked Case Renders: Pixel Fold 2
Design clues from case renderings
These images got leaked through accessory maker Thinborne and were picked up by ITHome.
From the leak, it seems that Thinborne will make at least one case type for both these models.
The cases are apparently made from tough 600D Aramid Fibre that supports MagSafe.
Aramid Fibre is commonly used in the aerospace industry and is reportedly five times lighter and stronger than steel.
Expected to feature flat edges similar to the latest iPhones while retaining the rounded corners from the Pixel 8 series
Coming back to the Pixel Fold 2, the phone seems to retain a similar design to its predecessor but with a slightly refined form factor.
The outside screen now looks a little taller and thinner than the one on theoriginal Pixel Fold and features a centrally-placed punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter.
The inner folding screen is also unlikely to have huge bezels and instead have a punch hole for the camera.
The upcoming Google Pixel 9 series will consist of three distinct models
Coming straight to the Pixel 9 series, not much seems to have changed upfront with the design except for some adjustments with the camera module.
The rear houses an oval-shaped camera module with a marginally rearranged layout of the camera sensors.
An LED flash is also visible.
The camera module appears to be made of metal and rests on top of a glass back panel.
Additionally, the bundled screen protector also hints at slim bezels for the Pixel 9 series.
Interestingly, the leak seems to confirm earlier rumours about multiple variants in the Pixel 9 series.
The rumoured design modifications on the next Pixel Fold are also reflected in the renders provided by Thinborne.
Recently leaked live images showed four models of handsets: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 XL, and Pixel 9 XL Pro.
This will be a sea change if it happens, as till date, Google has largely followed the two-model approach with its Pixel and Pixel Pro variants since the time of the Pixel 6.
A hardware event by Google later this year, probably around October, should still see the company unveil many of the Pixel 9 series and Pixel Fold 2 products that fans are now expecting.

In a major part of that update, Apple will give users access via apps like Siri to OpenAI’s wildly popular ChatGPT chatbot.
Musk was quick to react with a belligerent response. “If apple loads openai at os level then apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation”, he averred.
But gave no evidence or details of what this_FS suggested security risk was.
A History of Beef and Flawed Logic Called Out
Elon Musk Criticizes Apple’s Partnership with OpenAI
Last week alone, he had pulled a high-profile lawsuit that he had filed against OpenAI on grounds that the AI research company has strayed away from its original mission of benefiting humanity towards profits.
The billionaire has tried and failed in his efforts to take over OpenAI back in 2018.
Turning to the posts, Musk mocked up Apple for having to team up with an outside AI company to make the tech instead of doing it themselves.
He even teased making an “Elon Musk phone” to “fight this,” never specifying what “this” was.
But X fact-checkers were quick to shoot down Musk’s “creepy spyware” allegations as wrong and misleading.
By Apple’s own documentation, they observed, access to ChatGPT will be an opt-in feature that users must manually enable-not something embedded directly in the base operating system Musk insinuated.
Apple promised strict data privacy controls, too, wherein user data would never be passed along to, much less stored by, OpenAI.
Expert Assessment
Apple to integrate ChatGPT into Siri with user opt-in and strict privacy controls
From what’s known publicly, said Matthew Green, a cryptography professor at Johns Hopkins University and a well-known expert in the field, Apple isn’t incorporating OpenAI technology into lower operating system-level services as Musk described.
“It sounds pretty much not like what Elon Musk is describing,” Green asserted. “They’re saying you have to explicitly do this and opt into it and activate it. It sounds like, first of all, no they’re not embedding anything at the operating system level.”
While more technical details are still to emerge, Green noted Apple has consistently emphasized robust privacy and security around its AI initiatives.
A Credibility Deficit
Experts highlight Apple’s commitment to robust privacy and security
It’s far from the first time the high-profile tech entrepreneur has made vast, unsubstantiated claims or accusations on social media.
In short, was this merely another example of the billionaire getting carried away on X, or are there indeed ulterior motives linked to his previous failed attempt to take over OpenAI?.
Anyway, with no evidence brought forth to support his alleged security concerns, Musk’s AI salvo against Apple really is viewed more with skepticism by experts and observers alike.
FAQs
What did Elon Musk say about Apple’s partnership with OpenAI?

How did experts respond to Musk’s claims?
Experts, including cybersecurity professionals and fact-checkers, dismissed Musk’s claims as misleading and lacking clear evidence, noting that Apple’s implementation includes strict privacy controls and user opt-in features.
What is Apple planning to do with OpenAI’s ChatGPT?
Apple plans to integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its suite of operating systems, allowing users to access the chatbot through apps like Siri, with user data remaining private and secure.
Has Elon Musk provided evidence for his security concerns?
No, Elon Musk has not provided specific evidence to support his claims of security risks related to the Apple-OpenAI partnership.
What have experts said about the security of Apple’s AI integration?
Experts, such as Matthew Green from Johns Hopkins University, have stated that Apple’s approach involves user opt-in and activation, not embedding AI at the operating system level, aligning with Apple’s emphasis on privacy and security.

Apple Intelligence aims to enhance iPhones, Macs, and other devices with advanced AI.
Siri will gain more intuitive capabilities, understanding complex voice commands.
Integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT will provide free and premium AI features.
Analysts predict an iPhone “super cycle” and significant sales growth from the new AI features.
Apple made headlines this week by announcing their latest sensation, which they are calling Apple Intelligence.
Shares in the giant tech company rose to a record high.
D.A. Davidson managing director Gil Luria told Yahoo Finance
“If you look at the signal away from the noise, you realize that this is unprecedented capability that Apple is going to introduce and it’s going to integrate AI into everyday life,”
Luria adds “As people buy new phones this holiday season, they’re going to see this great functionality…They’re going to show their friends and family and the product upgrade cycle will happen over the next few months and quarters…The stock’s been flat because there hasn’t been revenue growth at Apple…Now, we think that this will allow Apple’s overall growth to accelerate from the low single digits into the mid-, maybe even high-single digits over the next year or two. That’s what can drive Apple’s stock.”
JPMorgan senior analyst Samik Chatterjee wrote in a note to clients on Monday.
“Our experience with consumer surveys with prior generations of iPhone launches tell us that the hardware upgrade cycle is more driven by a collection of feature upgrades across diverse applications, which in aggregate will provide…reasons to upgrade over the next few years…The release of the AI features across Mac, iPads and iPhones will support an upgrade cycle across all the devices.”
“Apple Intelligence” generative AI offerings Monday, a much-expected announcement which rolled out upcoming upgrades to iPhones’ Siri voice assistant and across messaging, all powered by OpenAI. Apple played its AI plans far closer to the vest than its big technology peers like Google parent Alphabet and Facebook parent Meta, both of whom developed their own large-language models to compete with OpenAI’s, and Microsoft, which owns a multibillion-dollar stake in OpenAI. “Apple’s stance seems to be, we don’t need to pursue artificial general intelligence; we can leave that to Meta, OpenAI, et al, saving billions,” summarized Rosenblatt analyst Barton Crockett.

Apple Intelligence: AI-Powered Enhancements Boost Company Stock to Record High
Analysts predict an iPhone “super cycle” and significant sales growth from the new AI features
The capabilities are hugely optimistic: Analysts believe they will drive many new sales and upgrades.
Some expect the AI features alone to trigger an iPhone “super cycle” over the next year or two as people flock to get the latest models.
The upgrade might even push Apple’s growth rate into the double digits.
Analysts Highly Upbeat
News about Apple Intelligence arose in the context of a deal that allowed the company to use the technology of the leading AI firm, OpenAI.
Their renowned ChatGPT chatbot will be integrated for free across Apple’s platform, with paid premium features to follow.
While some competitors like Google have made AI strides, most experts see Apple’s approach as raising the bar.
Renowned ChatGPT chatbot will be integrated for free across Apple’s platform
By unifying hardware, software and cutting-edge AI under one umbrella, it can deliver an experience unmatched by rivals.
Of course, nothing is guaranteed and launching new technology always has risks.
But Wall Street is clearly betting that Apple has another huge hit on its hands that will keep its stellar growth going for years to come.

Watchdogs such as the American government impose legal limits on the SAR levels to try and keep us safe.
“Samsung has come under scrutiny following recent revelations about the radiation levels of its popular Galaxy S22 and A Series devices. These phones may exhibit higher radiation levels due to the complex interplay of advanced features, high-performance antennas, and intensive power demands, all of which contribute to increased electromagnetic emissions in order to maintain superior connectivity and functionality.” Stocklytics financial analyst, Edith Reads.
Samsung Phones Posing Higher SAR Levels
Some Samsung Galaxy S22 and A23 models have high SAR levels
Their new S24 modelsseem better than the S22-carrying lower SARs despite more fancy new features.
So what are we to make of all of this?
Yes, some Samsung phones set off alarm bells, yet it is clear that the company knows how to produce handsets that are safer.
As mobiles get smart, brands have to balance innovation with shielding customers from excess radiation exposure.
What Can Be Done
Samsung’s newer S24 models show improved, lower SAR levels.
Meanwhile, going forward, Samsung needs to learn from its past mistakes on approximation and radiation safety.
After all, no technological marvel comes at the price of our well-being.
Responsible mobile phone use is also instrumental in this regard: limited calls, speaker mode, wired headsets are some of the measures that can reduce the risks.
Finally, a little reasonable caution about mobile radiation makes sense.
But there is no need to panic either.
All that is needed is transparent data, responsible companies, and sensible individual habits-so that we wisely enjoy our smartphones while keeping a check on the possible harms.
FAQs
What is Specific Absorption Rate (SAR)?
SAR measures the amount of radiation absorbed by your body when using a mobile phone. Legal limits on SAR levels are set by watchdogs like the US government to ensure safety.
Which Samsung phones have raised concerns about high SAR levels?
The report highlights that the Galaxy S22 and A23 models are nearing the safety limits for radiation near the head and body, with the A23’s head SAR level particularly high at 1.49.
Are there any Samsung models with lower SAR levels?
Yes, Samsung has produced low-radiation handsets in the past, such as the Note 10+ and A72. The newer S24 models also show improved SAR levels compared to the S22.
What can consumers do to reduce their radiation exposure from mobile phones?
Consumers can reduce risks by limiting call duration, using speaker mode, and opting for wired headsets. These practices help minimize direct exposure to mobile phone radiation.
What steps should Samsung take to improve radiation safety in their phones?
Samsung should learn from past models and prioritize radiation safety in their designs. Balancing innovation with customer safety is crucial, and continued focus on reducing SAR levels is necessary.
The packaging was very sleek and premium-designed.
Inside the package, the speaker was well secured and packaged together with a USB Type-C charging cable and a user manual.
Simple unboxing offered access to each element in an obvious and easy way.
Build and Design
Rich, immersive sound with front-facing tweeter, woofer, and passive bass radiators.
The ULT Field 1 has somewhat of a small footprint, which means it is very portable and is great for outside use.
Its design is wrapped in a hip, sturdy body with a premium feel.
The speaker is slightly larger than the JBL Flip 6 but offers fewer color options.
It is 2.7 by 7.6 by 2.8 inches and barely heavier at 1.4 pounds.
The speaker is oblong and lined with fabric, narrowing towards the middle, like the costlier Sony SRS-XG300.
The ends are then protected with a coating of silicone.
The tweeter and woofer are front-firing into a 15-degree angle for mono audio; passive bass radiators are located at each end for full-spectrum sound reinforcement.
It includes a rugged strap for carrying or hanging that’s in a bootlace style.
Durable and portable design with IP67 rating for water and dust resistance
The ULT Field 1 can be set up in either vertical or horizontal orientation.
Its body form is a standard rectangle, quite different from the XE200 in terms of design.
The bungee strap is adjustable, although one has to be a bit more patient with the fit.
The controls for power, Bluetooth, play/pause/call, volume, and ULT are easy to navigate.
Sony has its Music Center app, facilitating an adjustable equalizer, with not many options, of course.
It’s an IP67-rated device as well; hence, it is waterproof, dustproof, rustproof, and shockproof.
Sound Quality, Features and Battery
Easy customization with the Sony Music Center app, though limited in-depth options.
The Sony ULT Field 1 provides great sound quality, especially for a portable speaker.
The woofer has been designed and placed front-firing, while the speakers are forward-firing, resulting in passive radiators at both ends—bestowing rich, room-filling sound.
Listening to the track “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd, the speaker implemented very strong sound staging; the guitar solos and atmospheric sounds resonated with brilliant highs and detailed mids.
“Come Together” by The Beatles had deep and resonant bass without covering the rest of the audio spectrum; the bass lines were punchy and filled the soundscape completely.
Using the Sony Music Center app made customizing sounds to my personal enjoyment easy.
The user interface of the app is straightforward, and I found it easy to manage almost everything I want from the speaker.
Sound Quality, Features and Battery
The onboard equalizer was a tad finicky to adjust the sound profile, but when once set, it really gives a personalized experience.
Streaming music from Tidal and Spotify was easy, with the app providing fast, easy access.
The Sony app isn’t as granular as others, like the JBL One App I mentioned, but it gives you access to the essentials.
It doesn’t have that level of premium finish and intuitiveness as app designers that some competitors have, but pass the Music Center app it did for most standard-level adjustments and searching for settings all around.
One of them has to be the eXtra Bass technology, which really beefs up an already bass-heavy track.
While listening to Pink Floyd’s \”Money,\” the bass was powerful and punchy, yet the mids and highs were not at all distorted, even at higher volumes.
It is quite balanced, and thus, every genre of music, right from classic rock through modern pop, is handled well by ULT Field 1.
Final Verdict
Final Verdict
The Sony ULT Field 1 is a very good portable speaker that actually encompasses a very robust build quality, amazing sound performance, and amazing practical features.
At a price of Rs16,990, the Sony ULT Field 1 is really a good deal with heavy bass, balanced mids, and crisp highs.
The claim to outdoor use is backed by the durability of an IP67 rating.
The Sony Music Center app is less robust than those of some other companies but still gives you the basics as well as the ability to play with settings.
Its portability, ease of connection, and long battery life all rank it high for music lovers who want tunes working for them while on the move.
The ULT Field 1 is a speaker fit for everyone and serves as an extremely reliable and high-quality portable speaker.
