User Konstantin @kpwn@infosec.exchangeon Mastodon revealed iPhones and iPads crash when a specific set of characters is typed in certain search bars.
However, the user gave credit for the update to a certain “bird app.”
Mastodon user posted, “Apparently, you can crash your iPhone Springboard pretty easily: On your iPhone, swipe left past all your Home Screen pages to get to App Library. Then search for “”:: Do at your own risk.”

The issue occurs when you swipe to the App Library and type “”:: into the search bar at the top of the screen.
This action causes SpringBoard, the built-in Home Screen manager to crash.
Interestingly, the bug isn’t limited to the exact character combination of “”::.
According to other users commenting on the Mastodon researcher’s post, the crash can occur as long as the sequence starts with “”:, with any fourth character triggering the crash.

The latest Google Pixel 9 series now allows users to restore data from another Android device even after the initial setup is completed.
The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL users can access this new feature anytime through the Android Settings menu.
This is a welcome change.
Previously, Android only supported data transfer during the initial setup.
If you skipped this option or if it failed, you would have to perform a factory reset to try again.
But with the Pixel 9 series, you can now copy data from another device without resetting your phone.
In a recent post, 9to5Google explains the feature in detail.
In the Settings menu, you’ll find a new “Backup or copy data” section above the “System” category.
This section allows you to back up data to your Google account or copy data from another device.
The process is simple and involves scanning a QR code and using Wi-Fi to transfer the data.
You can choose which data to copy, and it’s always merged with existing data on the new device, not overwritten.

This feature is available in the Phone by Google app on Pixel 9 Series phones.
The new Call Notes feature uses Google’s advanced AI model, Gemini Nano. This feature handles audio, speech, and even image inputs.
Here’s how you can enable this feature in your new Pixel 9 series –
Open the Phone by Google app
Tap the three-dot menu button
Select Settings and tap on Call Notes

Toggle the “Turn on Call Notes” switch to turn on the feature
Once activated, you can start recording during a call from the overflow menu.

The Phone app will play an audio message to inform all participants that the call is being recorded, and a red dot will appear next to the call duration as an indicator.

After the call ends, you can access the recording, transcript, and summary in the “Recents” tab of the Phone by Google app.
However, if the call was too brief, you might receive a message saying it couldn’t be summarized.
While recording phone calls might seem straightforward, it’s complicated by legal regulations.
Google’s call recording feature is available in the Phone by Google app but was blocked on Pixel phones in some regions, including the US.
