Twitter is already bringing the edit feature to let users modify their tweets more conveniently and quickly. Now the word is that it is also testing a new feature. Twitter is soon to bring a new feature for Twitter Space users that will modify the way they interact with their listeners. Twitter has begun testing a new feature that would effectively bring discussion threads to Spaces, according to its official Spaces account. After a host opens a room, the microblogging site stated it will immediately deliver a Space card as a tweet. All listeners will be able to send tweets straight from that Space once it happens. Also, these discussions will be part of a Twitter thread that will be connected to the original room where the talks are taking place. Within a Space, a new conversation button will appear next to the reactions button, allowing you to access this thread.

Google, Microsoft, and Apple move one step toward password-free computing

Google, Microsoft, and Apple move one step toward password-free computing

Apple, Google, and Microsoft joined up on World Password Day to boost support for the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium’s passwordless sign-in standard. This is a “milestone” in the passwordless journey, according to the stakeholders and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Password-only authentication, according to FIDO, is one of the most serious security problems on the internet. It also added that it is leading to consumer irritation, account takeovers, data breaches, and even stolen identities. “Passwords are one of the industry’s greatest and most pervasive security vulnerabilities and most intractable problems,” Beyond Identity CMO Patrick McBride told SDxCentral. “Efforts like FIDO are critical as they endeavour to address different use cases to try and start to move away from password dependence.”

Reactions on WhatsApp

Finally, the wait is over and Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has started rolling out Reactions feature. The announcement was made by Meta Platforms Inc’s chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg via Instagram and Facebook.

With the introduction of Reaction feature, WhatsApp will catch up with its competitors such as Telegram and iMessage.

The just added feature will allow users to quickly react to messages with an emoji. Initially, there will be six emojis including – like, love, laugh, surprise, sad, and thanks. More expression will be added soon, informed Zuckerberg

Earlier, Zuckerberg, had teased the feature as coming soon in the company’s big reveal about WhatsApp Communities last month

Initially referred to as Emoji Reactions, Message Reactions, and Quick Reactions in the past, the WhatsApp Reactions feature has been in testing since 2018. Earlier, they were planning to stay limited to sticker reactions, before it took something similar to its final form in testing last year.

Last month, WhatsApp added a new feature to WhatsApp called Communities. The newly added feature will enable people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them.

This will allow people to receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organize smaller discussion groups on what matters to them. Communities will also contain powerful new tools for admins, including announcement messages that are sent to everyone and control over which groups can be included.

WhatsApp had also teased more upcoming updates, including increased file sharing limit (up to 2GB) and the ability to enable group audio calls for up to 32 people simultaneously, of which so far only the latter has been rolled out.

WhatsApp is also making a number of improvements to how groups work on WhatsApp — whether or not they are part of a Community. WhatsApp believes these will help people share in new ways and reduce overload in larger chats.

YouTube Go will not be available from August this year after six years of launch

YouTube Go

Launched in 2016, Google has announced to shut down its YouTube Go app. According to the latest update, YouTube Go will be shut down in August this year. YouTube Go users will be able to participate in creation and community and have access to an overall improved user experience by using the main YouTube app. Google has not mentioned reason for shutting down the YouTube Go app.

The announcement was made in an official blog post. It said that the lightweight alternative to its main app is going away because it has become unnecessary over the years.

Google designed the app to serve the consumers and viewers in locations where connectivity, data prices, and low-end devices prevented it from delivering the best experience in the main YouTube app.

YouTube Go users have been recommend to install the main YouTube app or visit youtube.com in their browsers.

The main YouTube app provides a better overall user experience as compared to the YouTube Go. Also, there are some features such as the ability to comment, post, create content, and use dark theme are exclusive to the main YouTube.

“YouTube has invested in improvements to the main YouTube app that make it perform better in these environments, while also delivering a better user experience which is inclusive of our entire community. Specifically, we have improved performance for entry-level devices or those that watch YouTube on slower networks. We’re also building out additional user controls that help to decrease mobile data usage for viewers with limited data – so stay tuned for more updates,” reads a blog post by Meaghan, community manager, TeamYouTube.

Daiwa accelerates its operations in India and strengthens its Channel Partner network

Daiwa, one of the fastest-growing consumer durables and made-in-India Smart TV manufacturers, has laid out a bold strategy to expand its channel partner network in India. Daiwa enjoys a strong position in the Western and Northern regions and has now focused its growth efforts in the South India area, with the goal of onboarding around 700 new channel partners by the end of June. It is presently seeking to expand its Pan-India network.

The expansion is backed by the strong success and growing interest from customers in Daiwa’s strong product portfolio of Smart TVs. The company boasts a robust portfolio of Smart TVs starting from 32 inches up to 65 inches, 4K UHD Smart TVs powered by webOS TV and Android Smart TVs powered by Cloud TV with several first-timer technologies. Due to increasing demand for smart TVs following the initial lockdown, the brand saw exponential growth in the years 2020 & 2021 and exceeded the pre-covid numbers by 1.5x times.  Furthermore, the company also offers a spectacular collection of semi-automatic washing machines that are developed with high-quality raw materials while keeping Indian power conditions in mind.

The brand has the vision to capture a 3-4% market share in the offline segment and has drawn plans to strengthen its channel partner network in India. Additionally, the brand has reinforced its commitment to enabling the growth and profitability of its channel partner community with an enhanced program that will provide greater support to its channel partners in the country. The company has also launched exciting new incentive programmes for its channel partners, each of which is custom-tailored to help them expand, optimise revenue, and, most importantly, satisfy their consumers.

Speaking on the development Mr Arjun Bajaj, CEO of Daiwa TV, said, “We have seen strong traction from the market for our smart TVs. We run one of the strongest and most successful partner programs in the channel today. The key to this is our clarity and a sharp focus on a two-way partnership and our mutual success. We continue to reinvent the way that we work with our partners, and it is exciting to see that our efforts are paying off across our channel partner spectrum.”

Daiwa has an ambitious product strategy; from the beginning, the company has been the first in India to introduce ground-breaking technologies with Smart TVs that suit Indian power consumption patterns, Box Speakers, Air Mouse, and the first Indian brand to launch 4K UHD Smart TVs powered by webOS TV in India. Daiwa aims to deliver technologically superior products designed specifically for Indian consumers at the most competitive pricing.

The brand has 800+ Service Centres across India covering over 19000 pin codes cities at the pan India level, and also offers a seamless installation, repair, or query experience to customers from Tier III & Tier IV cities, where most brands struggle. By the end of the calendar year, the company plans to add around 15 New Smart TVs and 12 New Washing Machines to its portfolio.
