YouTube Go will not be available from August this year after six years of launch

YouTube Go

Launched in 2016, Google has announced to shut down its YouTube Go app. According to the latest update, YouTube Go will be shut down in August this year. YouTube Go users will be able to participate in creation and community and have access to an overall improved user experience by using the main YouTube app. Google has not mentioned reason for shutting down the YouTube Go app.

The announcement was made in an official blog post. It said that the lightweight alternative to its main app is going away because it has become unnecessary over the years.

Google designed the app to serve the consumers and viewers in locations where connectivity, data prices, and low-end devices prevented it from delivering the best experience in the main YouTube app.

YouTube Go users have been recommend to install the main YouTube app or visit youtube.com in their browsers.

The main YouTube app provides a better overall user experience as compared to the YouTube Go. Also, there are some features such as the ability to comment, post, create content, and use dark theme are exclusive to the main YouTube.

“YouTube has invested in improvements to the main YouTube app that make it perform better in these environments, while also delivering a better user experience which is inclusive of our entire community. Specifically, we have improved performance for entry-level devices or those that watch YouTube on slower networks. We’re also building out additional user controls that help to decrease mobile data usage for viewers with limited data – so stay tuned for more updates,” reads a blog post by Meaghan, community manager, TeamYouTube.

Daiwa accelerates its operations in India and strengthens its Channel Partner network

Daiwa, one of the fastest-growing consumer durables and made-in-India Smart TV manufacturers, has laid out a bold strategy to expand its channel partner network in India. Daiwa enjoys a strong position in the Western and Northern regions and has now focused its growth efforts in the South India area, with the goal of onboarding around 700 new channel partners by the end of June. It is presently seeking to expand its Pan-India network.

The expansion is backed by the strong success and growing interest from customers in Daiwa’s strong product portfolio of Smart TVs. The company boasts a robust portfolio of Smart TVs starting from 32 inches up to 65 inches, 4K UHD Smart TVs powered by webOS TV and Android Smart TVs powered by Cloud TV with several first-timer technologies. Due to increasing demand for smart TVs following the initial lockdown, the brand saw exponential growth in the years 2020 & 2021 and exceeded the pre-covid numbers by 1.5x times.  Furthermore, the company also offers a spectacular collection of semi-automatic washing machines that are developed with high-quality raw materials while keeping Indian power conditions in mind.

The brand has the vision to capture a 3-4% market share in the offline segment and has drawn plans to strengthen its channel partner network in India. Additionally, the brand has reinforced its commitment to enabling the growth and profitability of its channel partner community with an enhanced program that will provide greater support to its channel partners in the country. The company has also launched exciting new incentive programmes for its channel partners, each of which is custom-tailored to help them expand, optimise revenue, and, most importantly, satisfy their consumers.

Speaking on the development Mr Arjun Bajaj, CEO of Daiwa TV, said, “We have seen strong traction from the market for our smart TVs. We run one of the strongest and most successful partner programs in the channel today. The key to this is our clarity and a sharp focus on a two-way partnership and our mutual success. We continue to reinvent the way that we work with our partners, and it is exciting to see that our efforts are paying off across our channel partner spectrum.”

Daiwa has an ambitious product strategy; from the beginning, the company has been the first in India to introduce ground-breaking technologies with Smart TVs that suit Indian power consumption patterns, Box Speakers, Air Mouse, and the first Indian brand to launch 4K UHD Smart TVs powered by webOS TV in India. Daiwa aims to deliver technologically superior products designed specifically for Indian consumers at the most competitive pricing.

The brand has 800+ Service Centres across India covering over 19000 pin codes cities at the pan India level, and also offers a seamless installation, repair, or query experience to customers from Tier III & Tier IV cities, where most brands struggle. By the end of the calendar year, the company plans to add around 15 New Smart TVs and 12 New Washing Machines to its portfolio.

Suresh Raina to be the Face of ‘Culture of Champions’ Campaign

RummyCulture is one of the popular online rummy platforms and it has unveiled the second chapter of its ‘Culture of Champions’ campaign. Notably, the campaign will feature former Indian international cricketer Mr Suresh Raina officially. RummyCulture, a Gameskraft app, has been offering users fun skill-based gaming experiences. The primary focus of these experiences includes safety, security, and technology. With the campaign, the company is looking to bring the game to newer generations of players.

Suresh Raina: Official face of the Culture of Champions

Mr Suresh Raina will reinforce the brand’s objective of transforming people’s perceptions of rummy by reinforcing it as a game of skill that involves mental acuity, attention, and game strategies, much like any other sport. Suresh Raina, a seasoned winner who understands what it takes to win, emphasises the campaign’s winning mindset.

The campaign sees a TVC being launched during the current IPL campaign on TV, Hotstar, and other digital channels.

Amit Kushwaha, Head of Brand Strategy, Gameskraft, said, “Our latest campaign continues our efforts to introduce rummy to a larger audience and build positive stories around the game. Changing people’s preconceptions through our storytelling, focusing on aspects of skill, concentration, and strategy has always been a priority. And there’s no one better than Suresh Raina to deliver our message and invite people to enjoy online rummy in a safe and secure environment.”

The ‘Culture of Champions’ campaign was launched last year and featured sporting legends like Abhinav Bindra, Harbhajan Singh, Mahesh Bhupathi, and Pankaj Advani.

Speaking on his association, Suresh Raina said, Being successful at rummy requires the same mental skill, concentration, and looking at competitor strategy as judging a difficult situation on the cricket field. RummyCulture’s appeal lies in its focus on becoming the most trusted platform for rummy players and how it brings together players in a fun, easy-to-play environment while constantly testing their skills with real players. I’m glad to champion this ‘culture of champions’ campaign and look forward to the rise of this pure Indian game.

Instagram testing full-screen feature like TikTok for the home feed

0
instagram

Meta keeps on working on Instagram to make it more interactive and Tik-Tok like. Now, it is bringing a new feature to make make the app resemble TikTok even more. Do you remember opening Tik-Tok and watching the videos on full-screen? This is how Instagram is planning to change its visuals. Reportedly, Instagram is testing full-screen vertical home feeds.

This upcoming feature will help users view vertical content as soon as they open the app. Here are more details about this upcoming feature. Check it out!

Instagram full home screen: Bring video more front and center

Meta continues to add TikTok-like functionality to Instagram and Instagram Reels. According to the company’s earnings conference last week, its TikTok-like Reels account for more than 20% of users’ Instagram time. Now, the social media behemoth is experimenting with a new feature that allows you to view your home feed in full-screen mode. Its goal is to “move video to the forefront” of the platform. The upcoming functionality is confirmed by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri. He also said that taller photographs and videos would begin to display in select feeds.

Users can still use the bottom navigation bar to access the discovery tab, reels, and their personal page even while testing the full-screen home feed. Also, other options of the top bar like switching accounts, creating a post, alerts, and browsing messages are still there.  Despite the fact that the test picture we received doesn’t indicate where Stories appear, an Instagram official verified that they stay at the top of your page — they just aren’t visible in this mockup since the snapshot was captured after scrolling past the top of the feed.

Instagram testing full home screen: First look

Meta-owned Instagram even shared a picture boasting the looks of the upcoming full home screen feature. The full-screen post dominates the home feed, with comments, captions, likes, and other features put on top of the post rather than below it.

Instagram testing full home screen option

Though the Stories bar isn’t visible at the top of the screen in the image, a Meta representative, Seine Kim, claims the view reveals the home feed once users start scrolling and that Stories will still be available at the top of their screen. The bottom of the screen still has buttons for search, reels, purchasing, and a user’s individual profile. Notifications, messages, and new post features, as well as the option to move between accounts, remain at the top. Still, photos and video postings will be included in the full-screen stream, according to Kim.

Instagram’s decision to experiment with feeds that centre on immersive video isn’t exactly surprising. The short-form video has been extensively promoted by the firm to makers and consumers, with monetary bonuses offered to those who make the best Reels. I would also appreciate it if you stopped uploading TikTok videos on the platform. Mosseri said in late April that the platform’s ranking algorithm will be changed to favour “original” material over reposted content. In order to steal original material from its competitors, the platform has been investing in creator tools: In late April, Instagram started testing Templates, which enable artists to utilise common Reels formats on their own films.
