The upcoming Xiaomi 17 Max was recently teased via an official marketing poster ahead of its expected launch later this month. The teasers offer an early look at the smartphone’s design and also highlights several major upgrades we can expect in display size, battery capacity, camera and more. Here’s what we know about the phone so far.
As can be seen in the official teaser, the Xiaomi 17 Max appears to be designed as large screen flagship smartphone. Official renders reveal a rounded camera module that blends smoothly into the rear panel. Reports also suggest that Xiaomi may continue offering premium build materials including ceramic finishes or carbon fibre-inspired rear panels on select variants.
The phone features a 6.9-inch flat display with slim bezels and a design language similar to the Xiaomi 15 series.
Xiaomi has already confirmed that the device will be available in black, blue and white colour options.
Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Group, president of the smartphone division and general manager of the Xiaomi brand, described the Xiaomi 17 Max as a “fully upgraded” version of the regular Xiaomi 17 instead of simply being a larger-sized model.
Previous reports have hinted that the Xiaomi 17 Max could feature a 1.5K LTPO display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is also tipped to come equipped with symmetrical dual stereo speakers, enhanced water resistance and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
It is tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The processor is likely to be paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for improved multitasking and faster performance.
One of the biggest highlights of the device could be its massive 8000mAh battery, which may become the largest battery ever used in a Xiaomi-branded smartphone. The phone is expected to support 100W wired fast charging along with 50W wireless charging and PPS charging compatibility.
Reports suggest the Xiaomi 17 Max may feature a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP-series primary camera. The setup could also include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with support for 3x optical zoom. Leica branding is expected to remain part of the smartphone’s imaging system.
