Vivo V80 and Vivo S2 have now appeared on the IMEI database. This means that Vivo could be preparing to launch new smartphones under its V-series and S-series lineups soon.
Notably, Vivo has already launched several smartphones in the Vivo V70 series including the Vivo V70, Vivo V70 Elite and Vivo V70 FE. Previous reports even suggestted that the company may soon unveil the Vivo V70 Lite model as the final smartphone in the V70 lineup. As of now, there is no confirmation from the brand on these speculations.
However, the latest IMEI database appearance now indicates that Vivo has already started preparing for the next-generation Vivo V80 series.
According to a recent report by PassionateGeekz, the Vivo V80 has been spotted on the GSMA IMEI database with the model number “V2630”.
Earlier reports that surfaced in April had already claimed that the upcoming iQOO 16 and Vivo V80 were listed in the IMEI database. The latest development now reportedly updates the Vivo V80 listing with its associated model number.
Alongside the Vivo V80, the Vivo S2 has also appeared in the IMEI database carrying the model number “V2576”.
At the moment, neither of the listings reveals any technical specifications or hardware details of the smartphones.
The Vivo S2 is expected to mark the return of Vivo’s S-series smartphones to the Indian market after a long gap of seven years. The last S-series smartphone launched in India was the Vivo S1 back in 2019.
The upcoming Vivo S2 is expected to target the mid-range segment in Vivo’s already extensive smartphone portfolio.
As per existing reports, the Vivo V80 could be based on the upcoming Vivo S60 that is expected to debut in China later this month.
The Vivo S60 is tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. The smartphone is also expected to feature a 6.59-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution. The phone is further rumoured to pack a large 7,000mAh battery with support for 90W fast charging.
For photography, the Vivo S60 is expected to feature a Sony IMX8-series periscope telephoto camera. Other tipped features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, a metal middle frame, and IP68/IP69-rated dust and water resistance.
More details regarding the Vivo V80 and Vivo S2 are expected to surface online in the coming weeks as Vivo moves closer to their official launch announcements.
