Fresh leaks suggest that Xiaomi and its sub-brand Redmi could face a launch clash in the third quarter of this year. Traditionally, Xiaomi unveils its premium camera-focused flagship phones in September under the Xiaomi number series, followed later by Redmi’s performance-centric devices.
But according to a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K100 series might launch before the Xiaomi 18 lineup this time. If this is true, then the Redmi K100 series is expected to launch in September, while Xiaomi is likely to push the launch of its 18 lineup to October.
This report has sparked a lot of discussion among smartphone fans, as the Redmi K100 series is expected to feature high-end specs that could rival Xiaomi’s premium models. If this happens, it could change how Xiaomi plans its launches and positions its products in 2026.
In the comment section of the same Weibo post, Digital Chat Station further revealed that Redmi could launch a new product lineup in the fourth quarter of this year; however, specific details were not mentioned, and it is speculated that the Redmi Turbo 6 might be unveiled then.
Leaks suggest the Redmi K100 will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the K100 Pro Max will have the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Both are expected to offer big improvements in gaming and AI performance.
Both phones are rumoured to have a flat 6.67-inch 2K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, which should appeal to gamers and power users. Redmi is also expected to improve touch response and cooling for longer gaming sessions.
Some reports mention a possible third model in the lineup, but details about it are still unknown.
Even if Redmi launches first, the Xiaomi 18 series is still expected to be the company’s main camera-focused flagship. The Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max are rumoured to have advanced camera features and a premium design.
Leaks say the Xiaomi 18 series may feature Leica-tuned cameras, advanced periscope zoom, improved AI photography tools, and top-of-the-line Snapdragon processors. The Pro and Pro Max could also have bigger camera sensors, 2K OLED screens, and high-end materials.
If this latest leak is true, Xiaomi might be planning its most unusual flagship launch yet, letting Redmi take centre stage before the Xiaomi 18 series comes out later this year.
Xiaomi usually launches its premium Xiaomi number-series flagship phones before Redmi’s K-series devices.
The Redmi K100 Pro Max is rumoured to feature a Snapdragon flagship chipset, a high-end OLED display, a periscope telephoto camera, LPDDR6 RAM, UFS 5.0 storage, and a battery that could approach 8,000mAh capacity.
The Xiaomi 18 series is expected to focus heavily on photography with Leica-tuned cameras, improved AI imaging tools, advanced periscope zoom lenses, and larger flagship camera sensors on the Pro models.
