Vivo X500 series could bring a major battery upgrade across the lineup, according to a new leak. The latest information suggests that Vivo may finally adopt larger 7,000mAh+ batteries for its upcoming flagship X-series smartphones. Here’s what we know so far.
According to tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, Vivo is expected to expand the use of high-density battery technology in its future smartphones. The leak claims that even the flagship X-series devices may soon enter the “7-series” battery range. This in simple words mean that upcoming Vivo X series models could have battery capacities starting from around 7,000mAh.
Currently, the Vivo X300 series lineup in China includes four smartphones. The standard Vivo X300 packs a 6,040mAh battery, while the Vivo X300 Pro features a larger 6,510mAh battery.
Vivo later introduced the Vivo X300s and Vivo X300 Ultra in China. The Vivo X300s comes with a 6,000mAh battery, whereas the Vivo X300 Ultra packs a significantly larger 7,100mAh battery.
The development comes at a time when rival brands are already pushing bigger battery capacities in flagship devices. For example, the Oppo Find X9 series reportedly features multiple models equipped with batteries exceeding 7,000mAh. In comparison, only one model in the current Vivo X300 series has crossed the 7,000mAh mark so far.
Reports so far suggest that Vivo may launch three models under the X500 series in China sometime in September this year.
The lineup is expected to include the Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro, and Vivo X500 Pro Max. These smartphones are tipped to feature 6.59-inch, 6.37-inch, and 6.85-inch displays, respectively. Meanwhile, the Vivo X500 Ultra is expected to launch separately during the first half of next year. The Ultra model may reportedly use the same display size as the Vivo X500 Pro Max.
In terms of performance, the Vivo X500 Ultra could be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The other smartphones in the Vivo X500 lineup are expected to feature MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9600vv series processors.
Reports also suggest that Vivo could introduce another model called the Vivo X500e. However, it is currently unclear whether the smartphone will launch in China or remain exclusive to global markets.
More details regarding the Vivo X500 series are expected to emerge online in the coming months as the anticipated launch timeline gets closer.
