iQOO’s upcoming flagship is already getting attention months before its official launch. Recent leaks from tipster Digital Chat Station suggest the iQOO 16 may offer big improvements in camera hardware, display technology, and overall performance compared to the iQOO 15.
Reports say the smartphone could be unveiled in October, in line with iQOO’s usual flagship launch schedule.
According to Gizmochina, the latest leak shows that the iQOO 16 prototype is being tested with a 50-megapixel main camera and a large 1/1.3-inch sensor. It’s also expected to have a periscope telephoto camera with a medium-sized sensor for better zoom photos.
Earlier leaks suggested iQOO was testing both 50MP and 200MP main camera options for the phone. The company hasn’t finalised the main sensor yet, but the latest leak points to the 50MP version leading in tests.
Details about the ultra-wide camera are still unknown, but reports say the phone might keep a triple-camera setup, possibly with three 50MP sensors on the back. This would improve on the iQOO 15’s already strong camera hardware.
Besides camera upgrades, the iQOO 16 is expected to use Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset (model SM8975). This processor should be built on a 2nm process and may support faster LPDDR6 RAM, offering better efficiency and performance.
The phone is also rumoured to have a 6.85-inch Samsung display with 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. If true, this would be a clear upgrade from the 144Hz screen on the iQOO 15, giving smoother visuals and a better gaming experience.
Battery details haven’t been revealed yet, but leaks suggest the iQOO 16 might feature a battery larger than 8,000 mAh. It’s also expected to run Android 17 with OriginOS 7. Reports suggest the base model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage could cost about 5,000 Yuan (around $730).
Although iQOO hasn’t confirmed these specs yet, leaks suggest the iQOO 16 could be one of the most powerful Android flagships in 2026.
According to recent leaks, the iQOO 16 may be unveiled in October 2026, following iQOO’s usual flagship launch timeline.
The smartphone is tipped to feature a 50MP primary camera with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor and a periscope telephoto lens.
Leaks suggest the iQOO 16 may be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset and feature a 6.85-inch Samsung 2K display with a 165Hz refresh rate.
