Realme 11 Series

Maybe, by the end of this month, we can expect the brand to announce the launch date of the Realme 11 Pro series for the Indian and global markets.

Realme launched the Realme 11, Realme 11 Pro, and the Realme 11 Pro+ in China last week, and it is now bringing the devices here in India.

The company announced the launch of the Realme 11 Pro series in India for June.
It hasn’t revealed the launch date but the new smartphones will be debuting in India next month.

Realme 11 Pro Series India Launch

Realme 11 Series

Realme India announced the news through its Twitter handle.
It also has a microsite for the same where it has a ‘Notify Me’ button for anyone interested in getting updates about the launch.

Since the Realme 11 Pro series has already launched, we know what the phones have to offer.

The teaser also confirms that the Realme 11 Pro+ will launch in India since it highlights the phone’s 200MP camera sensor.

The company also hosted a camera innovation event for the Realme 11 Pro+’s 200MP camera on May 16th.

There’s mention of only the ‘Pro’ series, so we might not see the vanilla Realme 11 launching in India just yet.

Realme 11 Pro, Realme 11 Pro+ Price

In China, the Realme 11 Pro+ starts at around Rs 24,900 and goes up to Rs 33,200 for the high-end variant. The Realme 11 Pro has a starting price of around Rs 21,300 and Rs 27,300 for the top-end model.

This pricing is based on the conversion rate, so the India pricing will differ when compared to the Chinese market.

Carl Pei reviews Apple AirPods Pro 2, compares them to Nothing Ear (2): Which one was his top pick ? Nothing Ceo Also Shows Making of Nothing Ear 2

Nothing Ear (2) vs AirPods Pro 2

HIGHLIGHTS

* Nothing CEO Carl Pei’s latest review is on the Apple AirPods Pro 2.
* Pei talks about what he likes and doesn’t like about the earbuds and also compares it with the Nothing Ear (2).
* Pei also gives his verdict on which wireless earbuds you should go for.
* Carl Pei has now added an Apple AirPods Pro 2 review to his sporadic line of YouTube tech review videos.
* Pei admits that he loves nearly everything about the latest Pro-level AirPods.
* He also says the Nothing Ear 2 offer a compelling alternative to Apple’s genre-defining products.

Carl Pei is the CEO of Nothing (and a co-founder of OnePlus, which he left in 2020), but that doesn’t keep him busy enough, apparently.

Pei has started posting semi-frequent YouTube videos in which he reviews popular products, most of which are direct competitors to Nothing devices. So far, we’ve seen him do an iPhone, a Galaxy S device, and even a OnePlus phone.

Now, Pei has posted his first review of an audio product. His Apple AirPods Pro 2 review just went live on the Nothing YouTube channel. We’ve mirrored the video above.

Nothing Ear (2) vs AirPods Pro 2

The gist of the video is that Carl loves the AirPods Pro 2. He gives Apple tons of respect for essentially defining the true-wireless earbuds market and piles praise onto how much better the newest AirPods are when compared to the originals. He also praises the charging case for the AirPods Pro 2 and its neat quality-of-life improvements, including a speaker and lanyard slot.

However, Pei obviously needs to push his own products. In the Apple AirPods Pro 2 review video, he explains how much more difficult it is to make the Nothing Ear 2 earbuds, mostly because of the transparent plastic. He even shows behind-the-scenes footage of the manufacturing center that makes the Nothing earbuds.

To prevent dust from getting into the earbuds’ transparent parts, the center is humidified “like a rainforest.” You can see humidifiers pumping steam throughout the room to keep things wet. It’s pretty nuts.

Nothing Ear (2) vs AirPods Pro 2

Pei also says that Nothing rejects up to 30% of the final products from the line so they can be re-made without dust.

In the end, Pei calls out the fact that the Nothing Ear 2 are $100 cheaper than AirPods Pro 2 while offering similar sound quality. They also look different, allowing users to stand out from the usual crowd of AirPods users.

Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing has been quite actively on the company’s YouTube channel and he has even been reviewing products such as the iPhone 14 Pro, OnePlus 11 and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. His latest review is on the Apple AirPods Pro 2 that launched in September last year.

Pei talks about the things he likes and doesn’t like about the AirPods Pro 2 and also compares it with the Nothing Ear (2) that launched earlier this year in March.

In the review video, Pei says that he has the entire AirPods lineup, and how the AirPods Pro 2 are a definite improvement over the first generation. The two things he points out that are good on the AirPods Pro 2 are better noise cancellation and transparency mode. He even goes to say that the AirPods Pro 2 are “one of the best noise-cancelling earbuds” he’s ever tried.

Nothing Ear (2) vs AirPods Pro 2

Nothing Ear (2) vs AirPods Pro 2

Pei also brings out the Nothing Ear (2) and compares it with the AirPods Pro 2 in terms of design.

1) There’s a very visible difference here with the Nothing Ear (2) standing out for its transparent case and design while the AirPods Pro 2 has the minimalist white case.

2) He says that an AirPods case is easy to make but with the Nothing Ear (2), the process is very difficult because of a lot of transparent elements and how they have to make sure dust isn’t visible.

3) He also talks about the manufacturing facility which is centrally humidified so there’s no dust seeping in but even this doesn’t ensure a dust-free product, and Nothing ends up rejecting 20 to 30 percent of the earbuds.

While talking about the stem controls on the AirPods Pro 2 and Nothing Ear (2), Pei said the former’s better because of its algorithms that you don’t experience any mis-clicks. In terms of comfort, Pei is of the opinion that the Nothing Ear (2) is more comfortable since it’s lighter.

The sound quality on the AirPods Pro 2 is something that he likes but calls it plain since it’s more neutral to appeal to the mass market. He does note the Spatial Audio on the AirPods Pro 2 but since there aren’t many songs with this tech he hasn’t been able to experience it much.

Pei puts the Nothing Ear (2) above the AirPods Pro 2 in terms of sound quality also highlighting that it has Hi-Res audio. He also says that the transparent design makes the Nothing Ear (2) more unique than the AirPods. But noise cancellation and transparency mode are features that are better on the AirPods Pro 2.

Nothing Ear (2) or AirPods Pro 2?

Nothing Ear (2) vs AirPods Pro 2

When asked about which one people should buy, Pei very subtly throws shade at how common the AirPods Pro 2 are by saying, “When you’re outside you see people wearing these white earbuds everywhere you go so if you’re happy being part of that crowd like everybody, then get these.”

He also mentions the $100 price difference saying that this can also be another factor but shouldn’t necessarily be the only reason to get the Nothing Ear (2). As expected, Pei also recommends the Nothing Ear (2) for Android users but that they’ve fine-tuned it for Apple products too and how the Nothing audio products are bought by iPhone users more.

FAQ’s on Carl Pei reviews Apple AirPods Pro 2

1) What’s it like to use the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) compared to the Nothing Ear (2)?

Ans) Both the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and Nothing Ear (2) have a lot of time and effort dedicated to design, so it’s not surprising, then, that they have very similar forms. Each set of earbuds is based around the lollipop design of the original AirPods, with pinch controls hidden in the protruding stick. The short nozzles of each product have silicone tips, and are meant to nestle into your ear canal with a shallow seal. Both products also offer an ear tip fit test to ensure you can hear your tunes optimally, but only the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) has a large selection of aftermarket ear tips to choose from online should you find that you need something other than silicone tips.

As the flagship models for both Nothing and Apple, the Nothing Ear (2) and Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) bear price tags and features to match that level of prominence. You may find you don’t actually end up using all the bells and whistles available to you, but that’s okay. It’s better to have things like an app (or your operating system) to supplement the functionality of your earbuds even if you don’t end up using the spatial audio, equalizer, or voice assistant integration.

Though the earphones are quite similar, people who are less gentle with their toys will much prefer the Nothing Ear (2) over the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation), as it boasts an IP54 rating, while the Apple competitor only has an IPX4 rating. While that means both stand up equally well to moisture, only the Nothing Ear (2) is rated against dust ingress.

The most likely deciding factor between two products isn’t even related to the headphones themselves—in this case Android users may have more trouble deciding between the two. The baseline aspects of the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) like sound, ANC, and build quality are very impressive. However, it relies on iOS to grant virtually all its additional features (basically anything you can’t do with the default on-ear control settings), so Android users won’t benefit as much from buying it. Basically, people without iPhones will have to weigh the importance of hardware excellence against the software features of the Nothing Ear (2)—not that its hardware is anything to sneeze at.

2) How do you control the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and Nothing Ear (2)?

Ans) Controls for both the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd generation) and Nothing Ear (2) are relatively straightforward, with the former relying on a mix of physical control via pinching the ear stems. You can customize the exact function of the tap-to-hold function through the settings app of the iPhone, but for Android this isn’t customizable.

Tata starts manufacturing iPhones near Bengaluru; 4th iPhone plant in India to be set up near Hyderabad

0

HIGHLIGHTS

* Tata Group has begun assembling Apple iPhones at Wistron’s Narasapura factory.
* Tata Group is the fourth company to assemble iPhones in the country, and the first Indian company to do so.
* There is no official confirmation from Tata or Apple regarding initiating iPhone manufacturing.

According to a report from TOI, the Tata Group has reportedly initiated the production of Apple iPhones in India. To expand its manufacturing capacity, Tata acquired the Narasapura plant near Bengaluru from Taiwanese company Wistron.

In order to make more iPhones in the country, the Tata Group is said to have started assembling Apple iPhones after acquiring the Narasapura plant near Bengaluru from Taiwanese giant Wistron, as per a TOI report.

This comes days after Apple CEO Tim Cook visited N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, during the former’s April visit to India for the opening of the much-anticipated Apple Stores.

Tata’s Partnership With Apple

Image

According to the report, the Tata Group has begun manufacturing iPhones at a Wistron facility near Bengaluru. Specifically, iPhones will be produced at Wistron’s Narasapura factory in the Kolar district of Karnataka. The report also indicates that Tata is in the process of acquiring the factory.

Neither Tata nor Apple have officially confirmed the commencement of iPhone manufacturing in India. Assuming the information is accurate, Tata would become the fourth manufacturer for Apple in the country, joining Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare.

The report mentions that Tata has acquired Wistron’s operations in India as the Taiwanese company is withdrawing from its business in the country. However, there is still uncertainty about whether Wistron will completely exit its Bengaluru operations.

This development follows Apple CEO Tim Cook’s visit to India in April, where he met with N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, during the inauguration of Apple Stores in the country.

Tata becomes first Indian iPhone manufacturer

The report mentioned that the Tata Group is manufacturing iPhones at a Wistron facility located near Bengaluru. To be precise, the tech giant will be producing iPhones at Wistron’s Narasapura factory located in the Kolar district of Karnataka. The report also suggests that Tata Group is in the process of acquiring the factory.

There is currently no official confirmation from Tata or Apple regarding the start of iPhone manufacturing operations in India. Assuming the details are accurate, Tata would become the fourth manufacturer for Apple in India, following Foxconn, Pegatron, and Luxshare.

As per the report, the Tata group has acquired Wistron’s operations in India as the Taiwanese giant is withdrawing from its business in the country. The report stated that there is still uncertainty over whether Wistron will make a complete exit from the Bengaluru operations.

Tata to assemble iPhone 15 in India

According to a TrendAsia report, Tata Group has received orders for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. It was stressed in the paper that while Tata’s share of assembly orders for various iPhone models in 2023 is only 5 per cent, it nevertheless illustrates an escalating trend of Apple’s production migration.

New Apple iPhones plant near Hyderabad

In another development, Apple contract manufacturer Foxconn is investing $500 million (about Rs 4,100 crore) in Hyderabad’s new electronics manufacturing complex, which would become the fourth iPhone manufacturing facility in India.

Currently, iPhones are assembled at Pegatron and Foxconn’s facilities in Tamil Nadu and Wistron’s in Karanataka, which Tata has taken over. Luxshare has also entered India to manufacture hearables and wearables. This week, the Foxconn Interconnect Technology facility’s groundbreaking ceremony was held at Kongara Kalan in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Apple is all set to unveil the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max in the second half of 2023. The company has not yet revealed any specific launch timeline, but we can expect it to happen in September or October.

iPhone 15 Pro Max

Faqs

1) How is New iPhone Plant in Hyderabad?

Ans) In a new development, Foxconn, an Apple contract manufacturer, is investing $500 million (approximately ₹4,100 crore) in Hyderabad’s new electronics manufacturing complex. This complex will become the fourth iPhone manufacturing facility in India.

Currently, iPhones are assembled at Pegatron and Foxconn’s facilities in Tamil Nadu, Wistron’s facility in Karnataka (now acquired by Tata), and Luxshare’s facility.
In the second half of 2023, Apple is preparing to introduce the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Although the company has not disclosed a specific launch timeline, it is anticipated to occur in September or October.

2) At Tata’s iPhone plant in Hosur, Make in India is still a distant dream.Details?

Ans) Key components of iPhones that are “partially” assembled in the Tata Electronics casing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, cross the Indian border twice or sometimes even thrice, before they are finally knit together, as per people directly associated with the supply chain and manufacturing process. In fact, almost 90% components used for Apple phones by Tata are sourced from Mainland China, even as Apple looks to shift manufacturing to India.

Tatas are the only homegrown company that has been shortlisted by Apple to be its vendor as the world’s most valuable company looks to diversify its manufacturing away from China – a market that today contributes a fifth of its revenues from domestic sales alone. As of now, the Tatas are making a semi-finished iPhone SE model in India. But trial runs for part assembly of the soon-to-be-launched iPhone 15 have begun at the Hosur facility, said people aware of the development.

Only Apple’s old-time vendors such as Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron manufacture “end-to-end” phones in India. In FY23, India accounted for 5% of iPhone’s total global production and exported phones worth $5 billion, a near four-fold surge compared with a year ago.

Breaking: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5 launch date revealed ahead of official announcement could be July 26

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

HIGHLIGHTS

* Samsung will reportedly hold its Galaxy Unpacked for foldable phones a few weeks early this year.
* The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be first unveiled in South Korea.
* The phones may be up for sale in August, following a public event in July.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 launch date has reportedly been leaked, after rumours said this year’s Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event may happen earlier than expected.

A South Korean media outlet claimed the upcoming foldable smartphone will be first unveiled in the country in the last week of July, and this report validates that.

It has been rumored several times over the past few weeks that Samsung could launch its next-generation foldable phones earlier than expected.

Usually, it launches new Galaxy Z series phones in the month of August every year. However, this year, the company is planning to unveil new foldable phones in July.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5 Launch Date (Leaked)

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

As per the report, the South Korean tech giant has decided that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26th.
However, it will be formally unveiled on August 11th, following a public event on July 26th.

This is two weeks earlier than when Samsung normally holds the Galaxy Unpacked event.
Usually, the company holds its Galaxy Unpacked for its foldable phones in August.

Also, unlike past Galaxy Unpacked events, which took place in Barcelona, Spain, or the US, the launch event for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be in Seoul, South Korea, the report said.

Samsung foldables are coming early this year

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

This is important news for a couple of reasons.
Not only is it exciting to have a potential date to look forward to for new Samsung foldables, but it also means we could get this year’s Z Fold and Z Flip earlier than usual.

For some context, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 were announced on August 10 and released on August 26.

Why move the release date so much earlier for the Fold 5 and Flip 5 this year?

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

We can’t say for certain, but it may have to do with Google’s recently announced Google Pixel Fold. Google plans to launch its first foldable phone sometime in June, likely towards the end of the month.

By pushing the Fold 5 and Flip 5 announcement up to late July, Samsung can ensure it gets back in the foldable conversation sooner rather than later — and also distances itself a bit more from the expected iPhone 15 series later in the fall.

The report also goes on to suggest that this coming Unpacked event will take place in Korea — a large departure from last year’s venue in San Francisco.

What we’re expecting from the Fold 5 and Flip 5

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

Whenever the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 get here, we’re expecting some interesting things from both of them.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will likely have a very similar design to the Z Fold 4, though there are reports of a new hinge design that could improve durability and reduce the intensity of the display crease. We’re also expecting a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, brighter displays, louder speakers, and 12GB of RAM.

Things get even more exciting when we start looking at the Galaxy Z Flip 5. It’s widely reported that the Flip 5 is getting a larger cover screen this year, potentially allowing you to do far more with the phone closed shut. The design of the new screen looks odd from what we’ve seen so far, but anything to improve that aspect of the Flip 5 will be greatly appreciated.

This is the currently expected Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 schedule

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

* July 26 – Unpacked announcement in Seoul, Korea;
* August 11 – global release date.

If Chosun Ilbo’s inside sources are correct, the next big Galaxy foldables will start shipping around the world exactly two years after the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 were formally unveiled and essentially 12 months on the heels of the previous summer Unpacked event.

That basically means Samsung is looking to move its foldable timeline up by two weeks, which may not sound radical but can definitely put a lot of extra pressure on the production of two phones that are widely expected to outsell all their forerunners anyway.

Boosting sales is obviously the company’s main goal here, and the sooner the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 come out, the more time they’ll be able to spend on store shelves without competing against Apple’s iPhone 15 family.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

Although said family of next-gen iOS powerhouses is naturally not set to include any foldable models, the iPhone 14 roster has been primarily blamed for the foldable segment’s first-ever quarterly decline last holiday quarter.

As such, it’s easy to understand why Samsung is in a hurry to unveil and release the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5, especially when you also consider Google’s buzzy recent Pixel Fold announcement.

Another interesting detail rumored a couple of times before and seemingly “confirmed” by South Korea’s oldest daily newspaper today is the venue of Samsung’s next Unpacked shindig.

This will apparently move from your traditional San Franciscos or New Yorks to Seoul for “practical reasons such as global recognition and event effects.

“We’re not entirely sure what that means, but it’s likely that Samsung is simply looking to cut expenses where it can without impacting the quality and appeal of its products in any way.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Specifications (Expected)

Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be released as the successors to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, respectively.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 have also been spotted on several certification websites in the recent past.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 launch date and place

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

According to a new report from Chosun Media, Samsung has decided to hold the Galaxy Unpacked event to announce the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 on July 26, 2023.

This is two weeks earlier than Samsung’s usual announcement time frame for foldable phones.

Moreover, unlike previous Galaxy Unpacked events that happened in Barcelona, Spain, or New York/San Francisco, USA, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 launch event will take place in Seoul, South Korea.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 could go on sale on August 11, 2023.
This early launch is taken due to sluggish sales of semiconductor chips that have affected Samsung’s profits by a huge margin.

So, to counter lower chip sales, Samsung is trying to launch its next-generation foldable phones earlier to make Q3 2023 revenue more bearable.

Samsung is bringing a major change to the structural design of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Both phones will use a new waterdrop-shaped hinge that makes the screen crease less visible and allow the phone to fold without any gap.

Both phones will retain the IPX7 water resistance rating and come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor.

What else do we know about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5?

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 renders reveal the design of the upcoming foldable phone

In a nutshell, pretty much everything you need to know to be prepared to put your pre-order in as early as July 26.

We know the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will probably look familiar while the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is all but guaranteed to go big and… unconventional when it comes to its cover screen.

We know these will likely be the absolute best Android phones in terms of raw power, and that apart from their upgraded processor, they may not change much under the hood of their predecessors.

We also know the camera specifications could go virtually unchanged compared to what the Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 offer, which of course does still let plenty of room for software improvements resulting in actual real-life photography advances.

Retail pricing is undoubtedly the biggest missing puzzle piece at the moment, although there might also be other smaller details that we don’t know about just yet and could very well make a difference for prospective buyers.

Faqs on Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event

Faqs on Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, Fold 5

1) Samsung Galaxy Unpacked date leaks, suggesting Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 will launch early.Details?

Ans) There’s plenty of anticipation for Samsung’s next folding phones, in a segment of the market that’s expanding rapidly, with Google being the latest addition with the Pixel Fold. In some ways, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be the most significant folding phone that Samsung has released, because it now has to compete so widely.

We’ve seen plenty of leaks, but the suggestion of a Galaxy Unpacked event on 26 July in Seoul, Korea, will give fans plenty to be excited about.

The details have been shared by Korean news outlet Chosun.
The Galaxy Z devices launch at a similar point in the year that the Galaxy Note used to.

A few years ago that was in September, but the date has been drifting forward, as Samsung has shifted to more immediate launching of new phones.
Launching the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in July will bring them to market earlier than the previous generation’s August announcement, with a shipping date of 11 August suggested.

Samsung has been using a similar approach with its flagship Galaxy S devices, which used to launch at the end of February and have been drifting forward to be among the earliest flagship launches of the year.

It’s currently not clear if hosting Galaxy Unpacked in Korea means that there won’t be an event elsewhere.

Samsung has previously hosted events in Europe or the US, often using a major city for launch – London, New York, San Francisco, for example.

Launching in its home country would be a change. We have asked Samsung for clarification on the news, but are still waiting for a response.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to make changes to the exterior of the phone, with a 3.4-inch display making it cover more of the available space to make it more usable. We’re expecting to see a 6.1-inch folding panel on the interior of the phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be larger than the previous Z Fold 4, and offer a 7.6-inch internal display and 6.2-inch external display.

Both phones are expected to update to the latest hardware, to boost performance, while offering a full set of cameras.

With the recent launch of the Pixel Fold, there’s renewed interest in the optimisation of apps for larger screens, with Google having made adaptations to many of the native apps it offers.

This is likely to boost the experience for Galaxy Z users as this segment of the industry makes big strides forwards.

2) How are Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 cameras?

Ans) We liked the cameras in the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but they didn’t really change from the Flip 3, so we’re really hoping we see some kind of change in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

However, leaker Yogesh Brar suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a pair of 12MP rear cameras, matching the Galaxy Z Flip 4. While that is disappointing, apparently the sensor on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is supposed to be bigger, which means it’ll capture more light in photos.

There’s not a lot of change here that’s exciting, but a rumor out of left field suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 (yes, the sixth one), will come with a 50MP camera (via @Tech_Reve).

3) What are Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 specs?

Ans) It would be nice to see the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 with a shiny new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU, but it’s more than likely going to get stuck with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, since the former won’t launch until later this year.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was slotted in the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and it did very well. When we ran our synthetic benchmarks like Geekbench 5.4, the S23 Ultra got 4,882. It easily outpaced the Google Pixel 7 Pro and its Tensor G2 CPU which notched 3,046.

However, the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s A16 Bionic chip still got the win at 5,333. However, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 benchmarks reportedly leaked (via SamMobile), and the score that the Flip 5 produced was 5,022.

Additionally, SamMobile claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 offers UFS 4.0 storage on devices with at least 256GB of storage. That means faster read and write speeds for users who cash out with bigger storage. UFS 4.0 features 4,200 MBps read and 2,800 MBps write speeds, which practically doubles against the UFS 3.1 speeds of 2,100 MBps and 1,200 MBps. UFS 4.0 also offers 23.2 Gbps per lane speed, which again is double that of UFS 3.1, and uses 46% of the power.

4) How is Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 battery?

Ans) The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4’s 3,700 mAh battery lasted 8 hours and 33 minutes, which was just enough for us to like it, especially since it flew over the previous Flip 3’s 5-hour runtime. But we need more battery life, Samsung.

According to SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have easily replaceable batteries by using less glue and a pull tab. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard much about what the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5’s battery could look like. We do know that the secondary battery might be smaller (971mAh vs. 1,040mAh), but we can’t make any claims about the overall battery size until we know what the primary battery size is.

OnePlus Fold, OPPO Find N3 to feature same book-style foldable design, camera specifications Leaked

0
foldable smartphone

HIGHLIGHTS

* The OnePlus Fold and OPPO Find N3 are tipped to feature the same design.
* This would be the book-style foldable design that’s quite prevalent in the foldable market.
* Both foldables are also tipped to offer the same camera design and specifications.
* The OnePlus Fold will be the company’s first foldable smartphone. There could be two foldables where one is called OnePlus V Fold and the other OnePlus V Flip.

OnePlus is launching its first-ever foldable smartphone in Q3 this year.
The company had teased the OnePlus Fold earlier giving us a glimpse at its design which looked like a book-style form factor.

Now, tipster Yogesh Brar has exclusively told that the OnePlus Fold will indeed feature a book-style folding design, and it will also look exactly like the OPPO Find N3, another upcoming foldable.

OnePlus Fold, Oppo Find N3 Leak

According to the tipster, OPPO Find N3 and OnePlus Fold will feature the same design which will be a book-style foldable.

This isn’t a surprise considering the strategic partnership between OPPO and OnePlus.
Also, OPPO has already launched two foldable phones where one has a book-style design.
But for OnePlus this would be the first foldable phone.

Rumours suggest there could be two OnePlus foldables where one is called OnePlus V Fold and the other OnePlus V Flip.

In addition to the phone’s design, the tipster also suggested that the cameras will be the same as the OPPO Find X6.

OPPO Find X6 has a circular camera module and Hasselblad cameras.
The specs would be the same with a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor, a 48MP Sony IMX581 ultra-wide angle lens and a 32MP periscope camera.

OnePlus Fold, OPPO Find N3 Specifications (Expected)

As for the rest of the specifications, details are still scarce about the OnePlus Fold but we do have some information on the OPPO Find N3.

The OPPO Find N3 is expected to feature an 8-inch exterior display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

In addition to the rear cameras, the OPPO Find N3 is also expected to house a 20MP selfie camera on the front display, and a 32MP camera on the display inside.

The foldable phone is also expected to house a 4,805mAh battery.

OnePlus Fold, OPPO Find N3 Launch

OnePlus has already announced that its foldable phone will arrive in Q3 later this year. The OPPO Find N3 is also said to launch globally in Q3 itself. The launch date hasn’t been revealed yet though.

OPPO Find N3 Specifications (Expected)

The OPPO Find N3 is tipped to arrive with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC paired with Adreno GPU for graphics. The 8-inch main screen on the foldable will have a 2268 x 2440 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The OPPO Find N3 is expected to come with two selfie cameras, one for the cover screen and one for the main display. The resolutions for the cameras will be 20MP and 32MP sensors, respectively. The OPPO foldable is tipped to house a 50MP Sony IMX890 main display with OIS, a 48MP IMX581 for the ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP shooter for the telephoto module.

Lastly, the battery capacity of the phone is tipped to be 4,805mAh battery. The Weibo post claims the Find N3 will have an ultra-thin design but no specifics are mentioned.

The leak doesn’t mention anything about the launch timeline, but we can speculate the OPPO foldable might debut before the end of the year, so there’s still time for us to come across more details.

Talking about the camera, it could feature a 50MP primary camera, 16MP ultra-wide angle and a 13MP telephoto lens, and a 32MP selfie camera, similar to Oppo Find N. Coming to the battery, it could (v pack a 4500mAh battery with 3 fast charging support.

OnePlus 12

HIGHLIGHTS

* The OnePlus 12 is expected to be the company’s next flagship smartphone.
* Fresh information suggests the OnePlus 12 will offer a major camera upgrade.
* It is also said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
* OnePlus is apparently testing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone with a periscope camera.
* The device in question may be the OnePlus 12.
* A periscope arrangement could greatly improve zoom photography on OnePlus flagships.

The OnePlus 11 launched earlier this year so there’s still a lot of time for the next flagship from the Chinese company, but the rumour mill has already started spilling some information on the OnePlus 12.

A new tip suggests we can expect a major camera upgrade on the OnePlus 12, and tests for the smartphone have already begun.

The next OnePlus flagship phone could bring a significant camera upgrade. According to Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station, the company is currently testing a periscope camera on the “SM8650” product line.

OnePlus 12

The said model number allegedly belongs to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. That means it is highly likely that the OnePlus phone said to be coming with a periscope camera arrangement is the OnePlus 12.

The regular telephoto cameras on the OnePlus flagships haven’t really had a great run. Even the OnePlus 11 offers just 2x optical zoom and tends to kill details on anything beyond 5x.

With a periscope lens, the OnePlus 12 may not only be able to zoom in further optically but also offer a slimmer design.

A periscope camera like the one OPPO has on the Find X6Pro could greatly help OnePlus improve its zoom game to compete with the likes of the Galaxy S23 Ultra with its 10x optical zoom and the Pixel 7 Pro with 5x optical zoom.

Further affirming Digital Chat Station’s claims, tipster Max Jambor also chimed in, saying that OnePlus has been testing periscope cameras for a while now.

Jambor claims there were even some periscope models of the OnePlus 10 Pro. Obviously, those never made it to the market.

That said, these are still early days for OnePlus 12 rumors. We’ll have to wait for something more concrete to leak before confirming a new camera arrangement for the next OnePlus flagship.

OnePlus 12 Specifications (Expected)

This is the first that we’re hearing about the OnePlus 12 so it’s best to not jump into any conclusions yet. As for this tip, it comes from Digital Chat Station (via Android Authority), a Weibo leaker who is known for correctly leaking one of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon naming plan before it was officially out.

* According to this tipster, OnePlus is currently testing a periscope camera on an “SM8650” product which is said to be the model number for Qualcomm’s next flagship mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

* Although the leaker doesn’t explicitly say it’s the OnePlus 12, the possibilities are very likely.

* The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will release end of this year, and going by OnePlus’ flagship launch timeline, we should see the OnePlus 12 debuting early next year.

* Tipster Max Jambor also said that OnePlus has been testing periscope cameras for quite some time now.

With a periscope camera on the OnePlus 12, the smartphone will be able to offer much better zoom capabilities. This is one hardware that is present in most premium flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Google Pixel 7 Pro that offer 10x optical zoom and 5x optical zoom, respectively.

It’s too early to say since there’s still a long time to go for the next OnePlus flagship smartphone but this would definitely change the camera game for the OnePlus 12 among its competitors.

We should start seeing more on the OnePlus 12 soon but the expected launch of the smartphone would happen early 2024 unless the company has some change in plans.

Faqs on OnePlus 12

1) OnePlus 12 rumor suggests incoming periscope telephoto lens.Details?

Ans) OnePlus has been making huge progress with its phone cameras in recent years. The OnePlus 11, in particular, is one of the best camera phones around. The OnePlus 12 might be taking things a little further and adding a long-awaited piece of camera hardware: a periscope lens.

This rumor comes from a Weibo post (via PhoneArena (opens in new tab) ), claiming OnePlus is testing a new periscope lens to improve the optical zoom capabilities of the OnePlus 12. Considering the OnePlus 11’s telephoto lens currently offers 2x optical zoom, that upgrade would be long overdue.

The leaker claims that Oneplus and RealMe “both have periscope arrangements. They are currently testing on the SM8650 product line.” SM8650, as PhoneArena notes, is the expected codename for the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That would line up with this being a OnePlus 12 feature, since the chip isn’t due until later this year and the OnePlus 12 won’t be arriving until early 2024.

Other phone companies are fast increasing their phones’ level of magnification, so this is a feature OnePlus can’t afford to ignore — not like it’s sort of done with wireless charging. Even Apple, a company that also doesn’t rush to offer new hardware features is said to be adding a periscope lens to the iPhone 15 Pro Max — and potentially even the iPhone 16 Pro next year.

The thing about telephoto lenses and optical zoom is that they need space — and the higher the magnification the more space is required. Keeping a traditional horizontal lens naturally limits how much magnification you can offer, because going too high inevitably increases the thickness of the phone. And if there’s anything modern smartphone companies hate, it’s unnecessarily thick phones.

The periscope lens helps solve that problem, by bending the light 90 degrees into a vertical telephoto lens setup. Just like the periscope of a submarine. Storing the lens vertically means there’s a lot more available space to exploit, allowing phones to offer much higher levels of magnification without altering the exterior design too much.

We declared the OnePlus 11 as the best value flagship Android phone in our OnePlus11 review. The camera was particularly noteworthy, especially given OnePlus’s now-long-running partnership with Hasselblad. It’s not enough to seriously compete with better camera phones, like the Pixel 7 Pro.

The 2x telephoto zoom was a particular let down, especially after the 3,3x optical zoom of the OnePlus 10 Pro. Here’s hoping that this new periscope camera can fix that problem, and offer some serious magnification on the OnePlus 12. And hopefully for a similar kind of price to the OnePlus 11.

2) OnePlus 12 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and feature a big camera upgrade says tipster.Details?

Ans) A post made on the Chinese social media site Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station (via AndroidAuthority) indicates that OnePlus is looking to upgrade its camera array for the next flagship release. The tipster, who correctly leaked Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon naming plan before it was announced by the chip designer back in 2021, now says that OnePlus  is testing a periscope camera on a product associated with a model number of “SM8650.” The latter turns out to be the rumored identity code of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

So let’s add up the clues. The device in question will be powered by Qualcomm’s 2024 top-of-the-line application processor, it is expected to have a periscope camera, and it is being manufactured by OnePlus. It’s not too hard to figure out that Digital Chat Station is writing about the OnePlus 12. In his Weibo post, the tipster says that both OnePlus and Realme, both brands that are under the umbrella of Chinese manufacturer BBK Electronics, are testing the inclusion of a periscope camera on phones that will sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.

The post also notes that not all of the phones will use the OmniVision 64B image sensor which has backed several telephoto lenses using a periscope camera. A periscope camera offers greater optical zoom capabilities than you would normally be able to get from a device as small as a smartphone. That’s because normally the focal length of the lens cannot exceed the thickness of the handset.

But with a periscope camera, the lens inside the device is folded up and mirrored prisms are used to help bend the light helping to take it from the lens to the image sensor. For example, without a periscope camera, the OnePlus 11 delivers 2x optical zoom. The Pixel 7 Pro, which does have a periscope camera, can give users up to 5x optical zoom and the periscope camera on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra gives users up to 10x optical zoom.

3) OnePlus may finally adopt a periscope zoom camera.Details?

Ans) A big trend in smartphones over the past few years has been the “periscope” zoom camera, and it seems OnePlus will finally adopt the tech in an upcoming release.

Periscope lenses in smartphones allow for zoom that goes beyond 2-3x. Google uses the technique in Pixel phones to hit up to 5x optical zoom, while Samsung uses it for the 10x telephoto lens on its Ultra devices, and countless other brands have been jumping on board too. Even Apple is rumored to introduce a periscope lens on its next iPhone.

But OnePlus, surprisingly, has yet to use a periscope zoom lens in its smartphones. The OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 11 both maxed out with traditional zoom methods at 3.3x and 2x respectively.

It seems that may soon change, though. Digital Chat Station reports on Weibo that OnePlus has a “periscope arrangement” in the pipeline, with testing underway. It’s unclear what optical zoom level OnePlus is aiming for, but the simple fact the brand is finally jumping on board is great to see.

Presumably, this would make its debut in the OnePlus 12 sometime next year. OnePlus’ next smartphone is expected to be its first foldable, which would be a relatively odd place for the tech to debut. Periscope lenses are quite rare in foldables, with Google’s new Pixel Fold offering the tech, as well as Huawei’s Mate X3 and some others. But most stick with rather basic camera hardware for the sake of space.
