POVA 8 5G – Design and Build Quality

20260614_130943

The first thing to notice about POVA 8 is how it brings a completely fresh design compared to its predecessor. This one has a futuristic styling and it looks like it has been designed to achieve a very specific look that seems quite familiar. To be specofic, the transparent looking rear panel gives the phone a unique look that somewhat reminds us of Nothing’s design language but manages to have its own identity.

We received the 16 Bit White colour unit for review and it surely grabs attention. The back panel features metallic-inspired industrial textures complemented by orange accents and shiny white dot patterns that add to the overall visual appeal. One of the most interesting elements is the angular rear camera module that houses a mini dot-matrix style LED panel within one of the camera cutouts.

POVA 8 calls this the ALIVE Matrix Display. It is essentially a customisable rear lighting system that can display notifications, battery status, time, music playback information, gaming alerts, timers and more. We aren’t sure how useful it is going to be for users but it definitely adds character to the phone and helps it stand out from the crowd.

The rear panel also carries POVA branding on the left side, while “designed by POVA 8” is inscribed on the right. A subtle battery graphic printed on the back is certainly something new and has been done in a classy way.

In terms of build, the POVA 8 uses a polycarbonate frame and rear panel. Despite the plastic construction, the phone feels solid in hand and does not come across as cheaply built. It also offers an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance along with MIL-STD-810H certification that gives some extra peace of mind for everyday use.

At 165.66 x 78.46 x 8.8mm, the phone isn’t particularly slim and its 225g weight is immediately noticeable. It feels quite heavy during extended use especially when gaming or watching videos for long periods.

Overall, the POVA 8 has a fresh design that prioritises unique functionality and uniqueness. The ALIVE Matrix Display definitely help it stand apart from most smartphones in this price segment.

POVA 8 5G – Display

20260614_131259

The POVA 8 features a large 6.76-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2344 pixels. This isn’t as sharp as AMOLED panels available in this segment but the display offer a good viewing experience for everyday use. The large display size also makes it well-suited for watching videos, browsing the web and gaming. Content appears reasonably sharp thanks to the Full HD+ resolution and 381 PPI pixel density.

A big highlight is the 144Hz refresh rate. This makes scrolling through social media apps, navigating the interface and gaming feel smooth and responsive. The animations look fluid and phone does have a premium feel. The bezels, however, are noticeable including the huge chin.

We found touch responsiveness good during gaming as it comes with supports a 1500Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate. Touch inputs feel quick and accurate even in fast games where reaction times matter.

Outdoor visibility seems decent as well but it does struggle under sunlight. Although you can confidently rely on this for simple tasks like reading messages, browsing social media and viewing content during outside daylight.

Colours look vibrant enough for daily usage and viewing angles are good.

At the end, the POVA 8 offers a good display experience. Even if the IPS panel, it is a good device for media consumption and gaming.

POVA 8 5G – Performance

20260614_130854

The chipset in POVA 8 is MediaTek Dimensity 7100 built on a 6nm process. This chipset features four Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz paired with the Mali-G610 MC2 GPU.

Performance wise, the phone remained smooth and reliable during our time with it and we have spent a good 15 days with the device. Everyday activities such as web browsing, social media scrolling, video streaming and switching between multiple apps were handled without any noticeable lag.

The smartphone is available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants and both support Memory Fusion technology. We noticed that the phone usually maintains enough headroom for multitasking. This means keeping multiple apps open in the background wasn’t an issue.

Storage options include 128GB and 256GB UFS 2.2 variants. It isn’t the fastest standard available today but app installation times, file transfers, and game loading speeds were satisfactory for the segment.

We tested the phones on all major benchmarking platforms and got decent results. Here are the screenshots of some of the tests we performed on the handset.

Gaming performance is another area where the POVA 8 performs well. Popular titles ran smoothly at medium graphics settings and the phone managed heat effectively since it comes with a large 14,689mm² cooling system. Even during longer gaming sessions, we felt the device was comfortable to hold with no major signs of thermal throttling.

You are also getting a triple-chipset setup here, which the Dimensity 7100 processor comes with dedicated G1 and SE1 signal chipsets. POVA 8 says these additional chips help improve network stability and signal performance. The phone also supports 20 5G bands, which should provide better compatibility across different networks.

The software HiOS 16 based on Android 16 is decent. The interface offers a wide range of customisation options and features. There are, however, a few pre-installed apps out of the box on the device. Other than that, the overall phone feels smooth and responsive.

POVA 8 5G – Camera Performance

20260614_130859

The POVA 8 comes with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary camera paired with a light sensor on the rear. On the front, the phone comes equipped with a 13MP selfie camera. The camera app has different shooting modes such as AI CAM, Portrait, Super Night, AIGC Portrait, Sky Shop, Pro, Panorama, Documents, Time-lapse, Dual Video, Vlog, Slow Motion and Super Macro.

The primary camera captures clear pictures with decent levels of detail and vibrant colous during the daytime. Photos come out sharp and perfect for social media sharing. Looking at the pictures we captured with the phone, it is clear the sensor does a good job of maintaining a balanced exposure in most situations. The Sony LYT-600 sensor helps deliver consistent results when there is plenty of natural light available.

Colour reproduction is generally pleasing although the camera tends to add a bit of extra saturation at times to make images look more visually appealing. Dynamic range is decent for the segment.

When it comes to low light environments or night time, we would recommend the Super Night mode. It helps brighten scenes and improve visibility in darker areas while keeping noise under control. The low light photography isn’t as smooth but the images remain usable and social-media ready.

The 13MP front camera delivers decent selfies in good lighting conditions. Skin tones are generally handled well and the camera retains enough facial detail for everyday use.

We also tried video recording with the phone in different light conditions. Both the rear and front cameras support recording at up to 2K resolution at 30fps. Video quality is good for the segment with good colours and sufficient detail in well-lit conditions. You also get Dual Video and Vlog mode that can add some flexibility for content creators.

POVA 8 5G- Battery and Charging

20260614_131001

Battery life is a massive highlight of the POVA 8. The smartphone packs a 8,000mAh battery and it is significantly larger than what most smartphones in this segment.

During our usage, the phone easily lasted well beyond a full day on a single charge even with heavy use that included gaming, video streaming, social media browsing, and camera usage. With moderate users, the battery can comfortably stretch into a second day.

The company claims up to 1,198.1 hours of standby time, up to 39.5 hours of calling time, 17.8 hours of internet usage over Wi-Fi, and 17.77 hours of video playback. Gamers can expect up to 11 hours of gaming time, while music playback can last up to 113.8 hours through headphones and around 22.4 hours via the phone’s speakers.

The phone supports 45W fast charging and the good thing is that it ships with a compatible charger in the box. It takes around 40-45 mins for the phone to charge from below 10% to reach above 80%.

Verdict – Should You Buy POVA 8 5G?

POVA 8 definitely stands out in the sea of smartphones in this segment. The futuristic rear panel and ALIVE Matrix Display give it a unique identity. Other than that, we have a good 144Hz display and Dimensity 7100 chipset to ensure a smooth experience for everyday use.

There is also massive 8,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging that makes it an excellent choice for heavy users, gamers, and frequent travelers. The cameras are reliable for everyday photography and the software experience remains smooth for most tasks.

All in all, if your priorities are battery life, gaming performance and a standout design, the POVA 8 is easy to recommend. It may not be the most balanced smartphone in every area but it delivers strongly in the areas that matter most to its target audience.

While the device has already been introduced in China, Redmi has confirmed that the Indian version will feature some differences including a change in battery capacity. Here’s everything known so far about the upcoming smartphone.

Redmi Turbo 5 India Price (Expected)

Redmi has not officially disclosed the Indian pricing of the Turbo 5 yet. However, the smartphone debuted in China earlier this year with a starting price of CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs 30,000).

Based on its positioning and hardware, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to be priced below Rs 40,000 in India. As per reports, the device is likely to compete closely with the POCO X8 Pro, with which it shares several similarities.

The POCO X8 Pro currently starts at Rs 34,999. Since the Redmi Turbo 5 is confirmed to offer a larger battery, it could carry a slightly higher price tag. Industry expectations suggest the smartphone may launch at around Rs 36,000 for the base variant before offers and discounts.

For photography, the handset will feature a 50-megapixel primary camera with support for both optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS). The setup will be accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, the device is expected to offer a 20-megapixel selfie camera for self-portraits and video calls.

Oppo Reno 16 Pro’s Global Version Appears on Geekbench With Dimensity 8-Series Chip, Android 16 and 12GB RAM

0

Highlights

  • The Oppo Reno 16 Pro global variant has appeared on Geekbench with Dimensity 8500/8550 chipset, 12GB RAM and Android 16.
  • The global model may use a different processor highlighting Oppo’s varied hardware strategy across markets.
  • The device scored 1,575 on single-core and 5,889 on multi-core with leaks suggesting 80W fast charging.

Oppo appears to be gearing up for the global launch of the Reno 16 series. After the global variant of the Reno 16 was recently spotted on Geekbench, the Oppo Reno 16 Pro has now surfaced on the benchmarking platform as well. The listing has revealed key details about its chipset, memory configuration and software. Notably, the leaked listing details suggests that the global version of the Reno 16 Pro could arrive with a different processor than the model currently available in China. Here are more details.

Oppo Reno 16 Pro Global Variant Listed on Geekbench

An upcoming Oppo smartphone carrying the model number CPH2863 has been spotted on the Geekbench database. Previous certification records have already confirmed that this model number belongs to the global version of the Oppo Reno 16 Pro.

According to the benchmark listing, the smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6899 chipset. Based on the CPU architecture and GPU information included in the listing metadata, the processor appears to be the Dimensity 8500.

This differs from the Chinese version of the Reno 16 Pro, which debuted with the Dimensity 9500s chipset. As a result, Oppo may be planning to use different hardware configurations for the global and Chinese markets.

While the benchmark details point towards the Dimensity 8500 chipset, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the exact processor.

The Dimensity 8550 Super powers the standard Reno 16 in China and shares the same CPU and GPU specifications as the Dimensity 8550. The primary differences between the two chips are related to AI capabilities and optimisations.

Because of these similarities, there is a possibility that the chipset powering the global Reno 16 Pro could eventually be marketed as the Dimensity 8550 rather than the Dimensity 8500.

Geekbench Scores and Other Details

The Geekbench listing further reveals that the device is equipped with 12GB of RAM and runs Android 16 out of the box.

In benchmark testing, the smartphone achieved a single-core score of 1,575 points and a multi-core score of 5,889 points.

Although most specifications remain undisclosed, the global Reno 16 Pro was previously spotted on the TÜV certification platform in March. That listing suggested support for 80W fast charging.

Oppo Reno 16 Series Global Launch Expected Soon

The Reno 16 lineup is expected to include more than just the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro. Reports indicate that Oppo is also preparing a third model called the Reno 16F for international markets.

Rumours suggest that the Reno 16F could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset.

According to recent reports, Oppo may introduce the Reno 16 series in multiple global markets by early July. With the launch window reportedly approaching, the company could begin teasing the new smartphones in the coming days.

FAQs

Q1. What chipset powers the global Oppo Reno 16 Pro?

Answer. The Geekbench listing suggests it uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500, though it may be marketed as the Dimensity 8550 due to similarities.

Q2. How does the global Reno 16 Pro differ from the Chinese version?

Answer. The Chinese model launched with the Dimensity 9500s, while the global variant appears to feature a different processor.

Q3. What other specifications were revealed in the Geekbench listing?

Answer. The phone is shown with 12GB RAM, runs Android 16, scored 1,575 (single-core) and 5,889 (multi-core), and is expected to support 80W fast charging.

Vivo Smartphone Spotted on Geekbench With Dimensity 9500 Chip, May Debut With 100W Charging

0

Highlights

  • A Vivo smartphone with model number V2545A has appeared on Geekbench feature what is most likely MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500 chipset.
  • The device was earlier certified on China’s 3C platform with support for 100W fast charging.
  • While it could launch as a Vivo device, the 100W charging hint suggests that iQOO branding is also possible.

An upcoming Vivo smartphone has surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking platform revealing key hardware details ahead of its official launch. As of now, there is no confirmation if the phone is gearing for launch under Vivo or sub-brand iQOO. It appears to be powered by MediaTek’s next-generation flagship chipset although its final branding remains unclear at this stage. Here’s more on that.

According to details shared by tipster Anvin @ZionsAnvin on X, a new Vivo handset carrying the model number V2545A has been spotted in Geekbench’s database. The same model number was last spotted in April this year when certified on China’s 3C platform. It was listed with support for a 100W charger.

The latest Geekbench appearance provides additional information about the smartphone’s processor. While the benchmark listing does not explicitly mention the chipset name, details such as the CPU configuration, GPU information contained in the metadata, and the MT6693 model number strongly indicate that the device is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor.

The chipset is expected to power several high-end smartphones in the coming months and is likely to deliver significant performance improvements over its predecessor.

At present, there is no confirmation regarding whether the V2545A will launch under the Vivo brand or as an iQOO smartphone.

Could It Be an Upcoming iQOO Device?

The appearance of 100W fast charging support has sparked speculation about the phone’s possible identity. Recently, Vivo confirmed that the upcoming Vivo X Fold 6 will be equipped with the Dimensity 9500 chipset.

Meanwhile, Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO is reportedly developing the iQOO Neo 11S. It is expected to arrive as a modest upgrade over last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered iQOO Neo 11.

Given that 100W charging is commonly associated with iQOO smartphones, the V2545A could potentially belong to the iQOO lineup. However, there is currently no concrete evidence linking the device to a specific commercial name.

More certifications and leaks can probably reveal more details about the smartphone’s specifications, branding and launch plans in the coming weeks.

Rising component costs including processors, memory chips, display panels and camera sensors can have a direct impact on manufacturing expenses. Currency fluctuations and changes in import costs may also influence pricing decisions.

What It Means for Buyers?

The latest revision means consumers interested in purchasing the Vivo T5 Pro or Vivo T4 Lite will need to spend more than they would have a few weeks ago. Those planning to upgrade may want to keep an eye on bank offers, exchange discounts and online sale events that could help offset the increased prices.

Nothing Ear (3a) Price and Colour Options Leak Ahead of Launch, Pink Variant Could Join the Lineup

0

Highlights

  • Nothing is preparing a budget-focused Ear (3a) TWS earbuds as a cheaper alternative to the premium Ear (3).
  • Leak suggests four colour options such as White, Black, Yellow (seen before) and a new Pink variant.
  • The earbuds could be priced at €99 in France, same as Ear (a) at launch.

Nothing introduced the Ear (3) last year as its premium true wireless stereo (TWS) offering. Now, the company appears to be preparing a budget-focused variant called the Nothing Ear (3a) following a strategy similar to the one it adopted in 2024 with the launch of the Ear (a) alongside the Ear (3).

The company is yet to officially announce Ear (3a) but early details about the upcoming wireless earbuds have started to emerge online. The new model will most likely be the more affordable alternative to its flagship earbuds. Here’s what we know so far.

Nothing Ear (3a) – Colour Options and Price (Leaked)

A new report from Dealabs has now shed light on the possible colour variants and pricing of the upcoming earbuds.

According to the report, the Nothing Ear (3a) could launch in four colour options that could be White, Black, Yellow and Pink. Among these, White, Black and Yellow are colours that were previously available on the Ear (a), while Pink is expected to be a new addition to the lineup.

The report also claims that the earbuds could be priced at €99 in France.

If the information proves accurate, the Ear (3a) would launch at the same price as the Ear (a), which debuted at €99 in 2024. Since then, the Ear (a) has seen a price reduction to €89, which means the new model would be priced slightly higher.

Nothing Ear (3a) Spotted in Certification Database

Previously, the official indication of Nothing Ear (3a) is entirely based on leaked details from Indonesian regulatory database. The earbuds were listed carrying the model number B190. The certification database also showed CMF Buds Neo.

Anyhow, the certification listing did not reveal any information about the earbuds’ specifications, features, pricing or launch timeline.

At present, Nothing has not confirmed any technical details about the Ear (3a). Moreover, its launch date also remains unknown.

It is still unclear whether the earbuds will introduce upgrades over the Ear (a) or borrow premium features from higher-end Nothing audio products. Features such as wireless charging and enhanced active noise cancellation are currently available on the company’s flagship earbuds but there is no confirmation yet on whether they will make their way to the Ear (3a).

More details about the upcoming earbuds are expected to surface in the coming weeks as Nothing moves closer to an official announcement.
