Realme is stepping up its battery game in a big way. After launching the Realme GT 7 and GT 7T with large battery packs, the company is now preparing to release a smartphone with an even bigger 7,500mAh battery. Here’s what we know.

Realme’s Upcoming Smartphone With a Big Battery

In a chat with AndroidHeadlines, Realme shared its future plans and confirmed that a new phone with a massive 7,500mAh battery is coming later this year. That’s larger than the already impressive batteries in the GT 7 series, which means Realme is clearly focusing on longer battery life, not just faster processors.

Just to recall, both smartphones in the GT 7 Series pack massive 7,000 mAh batteries with 120W charging support.

What’s interesting is this move isn’t just about one phone. Realme says it’s trying to carve out a new identity, one focused on elite battery performance, not just affordable pricing. While brands like Oppo and Vivo are pushing hard on camera and photography features, Realme seems to be making battery endurance its top priority.

There’s also a good chance that this 7,500mAh battery will show up in one of Realme’s flagship models. For reference, the Realme GT 7 Pro launched with a 6,500mAh battery. So, its likely successor, possibly named GT 8 Pro, could be the one to carry this huge battery.

Interestingly, while Realme is going big, others are going slim. Samsung just announced the ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge with a small 3,900mAh battery. And Apple is rumoured to be working on a similar ultra-slim model, the iPhone 17 Air.

With this upcoming launch, Realme is clearly positioning itself as the go-to brand for users who care most about battery life.

Realme recently revealed a prototype smartphone with a 10,000 mAh battery in an 8.5mm thick frame. It weighed just 215 g as the battery is reportedly a 10% silicon anode. The tech was achieved with an energy density of 887 Wh/L. Realme used a 23.4mm tall motherboard, which is the smallest in the Android world, in order to maximise the internal volume.

Apple Might Rename iOS 19 to iOS 26 Next Year as Part of Major Overhaul: Gurman

0

Highlights

  • Apple plans to switch to year-based naming for all operating systems, which means iOS 19 will be renamed iOS 26.
  • New iOS features include AI-powered tools, iPad improvements, live translation for Siri and AirPods and a refreshed visionOS-style design.
  • Apple is expected to unveil these changes including the name shift and feature updates at its keynote event on June 9, 2025.

Apple could be making a big shift in how it names its operating systems. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company plans to switch from version numbers to year-based names starting in 2025. Here’s what we know.

iOS 19 To Be iOS 26

Instead of calling it iOS 19, Apple reportedly plans to name the next version iOS 26. The same change would apply to iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. This new system will align all software with the upcoming calendar year, creating a more consistent naming strategy across all Apple platforms.

Gurman explained that this move is meant to fix the confusion caused by each OS having a different version number based on when it was first launched.

Apple isn’t the first to try this moniker change. Microsoft used year-based names like Windows 95 and Samsung names its Galaxy phones after their launch year.

Apple itself has done something similar with past apps like iWork ’08 and iLife ’11. But this time, the company plans to use the upcoming year. So, the software launched in late 2025 will carry the “26” label, much like how carmakers label next year’s models.

iOS 19 (aka iOS 26) – New Features

Alongside the name change, Apple is also expected to roll out several major software updates. These include –

  • iPad improvements that make it behave more like a Mac, making it easier to use for work.
  • AI integration via the Apple Intelligence platform, which will be opened up to third-party developers.
  • Live translation for Siri and AirPods.
  • Vision Pro is getting an eye-scrolling feature.
  • AI-powered health tools and better battery management.
  • A new bidirectional Arabic-English keyboard and a digital calligraphy pen for Apple Pencil.
  • A brand-new gaming app for Apple devices is also in the works.

Gurman noted that this overhaul will also include a major design refresh. Apple plans to bring a visionOS-style interface to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS for a more unified look and feel.

iOS 19 (aka iOS 26) – Expected Launch Timeline

All of these changes, new names, features and design, are expected to be announced at WWDC 2025, which kicks off on Monday, June 9. The keynote will begin at 10 AM PDT (10:30 PM IST).

FAQs

Q1. Why is Apple renaming iOS 19 to iOS 26?

Answer. Apple plans to switch to year-based naming for all its operating systems, aligning software updates with the upcoming calendar year for consistency across platforms.

Q2. What major features are expected in iOS 26?

Answer. New updates include AI-powered tools, improved iPad functionality, live translation for Siri and AirPods, Vision Pro eye-scrolling, and a redesigned visionOS-style interface.

Q3. When will Apple announce these changes?

Answer. Apple is expected to reveal the new naming system, design updates, and feature improvements at WWDC 2025, which begins on Monday, June 9.

Highlights

  • The UAE is the first country to offer its entire population free access to ChatGPT Plus, normally a $20/month subscription.
  • OpenAI is partnering with global tech firms to build Stargate UAE, a massive AI computing centre in Abu Dhabi with plans to expand up to 1 gigawatt.
  • The UAE deal includes a $20 billion investment plan and OpenAI is exploring similar partnerships in other Asia-Pacific countries.

If you live in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE, reports suggest you’re about to get free access to ChatGPT Plus. Yes, that’s the premium version of OpenAI’s AI chatbot. It’s real and there’s no catch for regular users.

This makes the UAE the first country in the world to give its entire population access to ChatGPT Plus for free. Normally, this subscription costs $20 a month (around Rs 1,700). The offer comes as part of a larger agreement between OpenAI and the UAE government, under a programme called OpenAI for Countries.

But this isn’t just about handing out free AI tools. The bigger aim is to help countries build their own local AI infrastructure, while staying aligned with US regulations and global partnerships.

So what’s really going on behind the scenes?

As part of the partnership, OpenAI is joining forces with global tech giants like Oracle, Nvidia, Cisco, SoftBank, and G42 to create a powerful AI computing centre in Abu Dhabi. It’s called Stargate UAE. The first phase offering about 200 megawatts of computing power is expected to go live next year. Eventually, the facility will scale up to 1 gigawatt, which is a big deal in the AI world.

OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman says the project’s goal is to “spread the benefits of AI”, things like better healthcare, cleaner energy, and improved education, to more people globally.

There really isn’t a catch for users. If you’re in the UAE, you’ll soon get free access to ChatGPT Plus, complete with OpenAI’s most advanced tools and features. You can use it for writing, coding, learning, or just asking questions.

But while it’s free for the public, there’s serious investment going on behind the scenes.

A report by The New York Times says the partnership includes a huge financial agreement,  for every dollar the UAE spends on developing local AI, an equal amount will go toward strengthening AI infrastructure in the U.S. This could add up to $20 billion in total investment. The broader goal is to expand OpenAI’s reach and ensure AI technologies aligned with U.S. values and standards become the global norm.

And it might not stop with the UAE. OpenAI’s Chief Strategy Officer Jason Kwon is expected to visit other Asia Pacific countries to explore similar partnerships. If those talks go well, more countries could soon get access to ChatGPT and localised AI tools tailored to their languages, cultures, and laws.

FAQs

Q1. Who is getting free access to ChatGPT Plus?

Answer. UAE residents will receive free access to ChatGPT Plus, making the UAE the first country to provide the premium AI chatbot to its entire population at no cost.

Q2. What is Stargate UAE, and why is it important?

Answer. Stargate UAE is a new AI computing center in Abu Dhabi, created through OpenAI’s partnership with global tech firms. It will provide up to 1 gigawatt of computing power.

Q3. Is OpenAI planning similar partnerships in other countries?

Answer. Yes, OpenAI’s Chief Strategy Officer is exploring partnerships across Asia-Pacific, which could bring free ChatGPT access and localized AI tools to more regions.

Highlights

  • Apple now supports select iPad models in its repair program including iPad Air (M2+), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPad (A16).
  • Apple is allowing independent repair businesses to order genuine parts directly to make repairs more accessible worldwide.
  • The program now supports 65 Apple products in 33 countries, with Canada joining soon.

Apple has just announced that its Self Service Repair program will officially support some iPad models from now on.

Support for iPads will still be limited to certain models, but it’s a notable step forward. Apple has also rolled out a Genuine Parts Distributor program, letting any repair business order parts directly from Apple, no need to be an official service partner.

Announcing the expansion of the program to include iPad models in a press note, Apple said, “Beginning tomorrow, with support for iPad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16), the launch features components including displays, batteries, cameras, and external charging ports. Today’s announcement joins the expansion of other Apple repair services that further enable customers and independent repair providers to complete out-of-warranty repairs, including new details about the Genuine Parts Distributor program.”

“At Apple, our goal is to create the world’s greatest products that last as long as possible, said Brian Naumann, Apple’s vice president of AppleCare.

“With today’s announcement, we’re excited to expand our repair services to more customers, enabling them to further extend the life of their products — all without compromising safety, security, or privacy,” Naumann further added.

The program originally launched for iPhones in 2021, marking a major shift for Apple after years of pushing back against the right to repair. It expanded to MacBooks in 2023 and now it’s the iPad’s turn.

Before all this, only Apple Authorized Service Providers and Independent Repair Providers had access to repair manuals and parts. That left everyday users and smaller repair shops without options. But after increasing pressure from the FTC and a growing wave of right-to-repair laws across various U.S. states, Apple shifted its stance.

The program first opened up for iPhone 12 and 13 users, and it’s been growing ever since.

With this latest update, Apple says the Self Service Repair program now supports 65 Apple products and is available in 33 countries. The company also confirmed that Canada will be added to the list sometime this summer.

Alongside the iPad rollout, Apple is continuing to promote its new Genuine Parts Distributor program, which aims to make repairs more accessible for businesses of all sizes.

About the Genuine Parts Distributor program, the company said, “This broadens access to businesses that do not have a direct service relationship with Apple, fulfilling a need in the repair marketplace while providing customers with more options.”

“Through Genuine Parts Distributor, independent mobile repair professionals can order genuine Apple service parts and components via third-party distributors, including MobileSentrix in the U.S., and MobileSentrix and Mobileparts.shop in Europe. Genuine Parts Distributor offers a wide range of Apple parts for iPhone repairs, including displays, batteries, and charging ports, with iPad parts coming tomorrow. Repair providers interested in learning more can visit the program page,” Apple added.

FAQs

Q1. Which iPad models are included in Apple’s Self Service Repair program?

Answer. The program now supports iPad Air (M2 and later), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16), with available components including displays, batteries, cameras, and charging ports.

Q2. What is the Genuine Parts Distributor program?

Answer. Apple’s Genuine Parts Distributor program allows independent repair businesses to order genuine Apple service parts directly, making repairs more accessible.

Q3. How many products does Apple’s Self Service Repair program currently support?

Answer. The program now includes 65 Apple products and is available in 33 countries, with Canada set to join in the summer.

WhatsApp is Testing a Much-Needed Logout Option on Phones: Report

Highlights

  • A new logout option spotted in WhatsApp beta allows users to step away without deleting their account or losing data.
  • Users can either erase all data and preferences or log out while keeping everything intact.
  • The logout button isn’t available yet but could roll out in a future beta before reaching all users in the stable version.

WhatsApp is always working on new features and most of them show up in beta versions before going public. That’s exactly what’s happening as folks have just discovered a new Logout option in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android. Here’s what we know.

New Logout Option in WhatsApp Beta

As of now, WhatsApp lets you log out only on linked devices, like desktops or tablets. But on your main phone, there’s no logout button and your only option is to delete your account. That’s not an ideal scenario if you just want to take a break, because deleting your account wipes out all your data and removes you from every group.

Thankfully, it appears WhatsApp is working to fix that.

image

The team at Android Authority spotted a new “Logout” feature in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.17.37. It shows up in the Account settings, and when you tap it, you get two choices –

  • “Erase all Data & preferences” – This works like uninstalling WhatsApp. It logs you out and deletes all your app data and preferences, but you’ll still remain in your group chats.
  • “Keep all Data & preferences” – This option simply logs you out without deleting anything. It’s perfect if you want to take a break, troubleshoot an issue, or switch accounts. When you log back in with your phone number, all your chats, groups, and settings come right back.

Right now, the feature appears to be in internal testing, as it’s marked with an “Internal” badge in the current beta version. That means it might not show up for users just yet, but it could roll out in a future beta before becoming available to everyone in the stable version.

So, if you’ve ever wanted a simple way to step away from WhatsApp without deleting everything, a proper Logout button may finally be on the way.

FAQs

Q1. What new logout options is WhatsApp testing?

Answer. WhatsApp is testing two logout choices, one erases all data and preferences, while the other logs users out without deleting anything, making it easier to return.

Q2. How does the “Keep all Data & preferences” logout option work?

Answer. This option simply logs users out while preserving their chats, groups, and settings. When they log back in with their phone number, everything is restored.

Q3. Is the WhatsApp logout feature available to all users yet?

Answer. No, the feature is currently in internal testing and marked as “Internal” in the WhatsApp beta version, meaning it may roll out in future updates before becoming widely available.

iPhone 17 Pro Max Appears Thicker and Heavier in New Hands-On Video

0

Highlights

  • A hands-on video reveals that the iPhone 17 Pro Max is noticeably bulkier than its predecessor.
  • The extra size could allow Apple to include a bigger battery, improving battery life.
  • While the Pro Max gets thicker, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be Apple’s thinnest model yet.

Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup is expected to launch this fall and a new hands-on video just gave us a close look at the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max. Interestingly, it is noticeably thicker and heavier than the current Pro Max model.

Thicker Design Hints at Bigger Battery in iPhone 17 Pro Max

A new 33-second hands-on video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by leaker Majin Bu shows a dummy unit based on the leaked dimensions of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The clip offers different angles of the phone, highlighting its increased thickness.

To give you all an idea, iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25mm in thickness and iPhone 17 Pro Max is 8.725mm.

Caption – iPhone 17 Pro Max dummy unit hands-on video. (Image credit – Majin Bu on X)

That’s about half a millimetre more. It may not sound like much, but it shows Apple isn’t only chasing thin and light designs. For comparison, the 17 Air is nearly 3.2mm thinner.

When Apple reveals its next-generation iPhones in September, much of the attention will likely be on the iPhone 17 Air. This new model is set to replace the Plus variant in Apple’s lineup and is expected to become the thinnest iPhone ever, measuring just 5.6mm thick.

While we know iPhone 17 Air is all about going ultra-thin, Apple is going in the complete opposite direction with the Pro Max model. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is getting bulkier than before, both thicker and heavier than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, buyers of the Pro Max typically go for its large screen and top-tier features, so a slightly bulkier build probably won’t be a dealbreaker. The extra space could let Apple fit in a larger battery, which would mean longer battery life, something users always appreciate.

Even though Majin Bu has a fairly reliable leak history, they previously correctly revealed the iPhone 16e name change, this is still unofficial information. As always, it’s best to take leaks with a grain of salt until Apple confirms things.

We’re likely to get the full details in September when Apple is expected to announce the entire iPhone 17 lineup.

FAQs

Q1. How thick is the iPhone 17 Pro Max compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max?

Answer. The iPhone 17 Pro Max measures 8.725mm in thickness, making it about half a millimetre thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is 8.25mm thick.

Q2. What could be the reason behind the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s thicker design?

Answer. The increased thickness might allow Apple to fit a larger battery, leading to improved battery life, which is something users of the Pro Max model typically value.

Q3. How does the iPhone 17 Air differ from the iPhone 17 Pro Max?

Answer. While the iPhone 17 Pro Max is getting bulkier, the iPhone 17 Air is designed to be Apple’s thinnest model ever, measuring just 5.6mm thick and replacing the Plus variant.

iPhone 16 Tops Global Sales in Q1 2025, Apple and Samsung Dominate the Charts

0

Highlights

  • The iPhone 16 was the best-selling smartphone in Q1 2025 with strong demand in Japan, the Middle East and Africa.
  • Apple secured five spots in the global top 10, while Samsung claimed four and Xiaomi was the only other brand represented.
  • Apple’s iPhone 16e made a solid debut, ranking sixth globally, while Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy A06 climbed in popularity.

The iPhone 16 was the world’s best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2025, according to fresh data from Counterpoint Research. This is the first time since 2022 that the regular, non-Pro iPhone has led global sales during this period.

iPhone 16 Tops the Global Sales Charts

image

Caption – Latest data from Counterpoint research.

Apple claimed five spots in the global top 10 list, continuing a trend that’s held steady over the past five March quarters. Samsung followed with four models and Xiaomi was the only other brand to make the cut.

While the Pro models stayed popular, it was the standard iPhone 16 that drove the most sales, especially in Japan, the Middle East and Africa. Counterpoint credits this surge in Japan to better economic conditions and updated carrier subsidies that worked in Apple’s favour.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max and 16 Pro came in second and third, respectively. However, these models are still facing tough competition in China. Government incentives are now favouring phones priced under CNY 6,000 (around $833), helping local brands like Huawei gain traction.

Apple’s new budget-friendly model, the iPhone 16e, also made a strong debut. March 2025 was its first full month on sale, and it already ranked sixth globally. With a more modern design and a richer feature set than the older SE models, analysts expect the 16e to do significantly better over the next year.

Samsung Loses a Spot

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra landed in seventh place this quarter, dropping two spots compared to the S24 Ultra in Q1 2024. Counterpoint says that’s mostly because the S25 series launched later in the quarter, giving it less time to rack up sales.

The Galaxy A16 5G took fifth place overall, thanks to solid demand in North America, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy A06 also climbed four spots in the top 10, boosted by rising demand for budget phones under $100.

In fact, this low-end segment was the fastest-growing part of the market in Q1, making up nearly 20% of global smartphone sales. Counterpoint attributes the growth to fewer supply chain issues and stronger demand in key emerging markets.

Xiaomi Only Other Brand in the Top 10

The only phone in the top 10 that wasn’t from Apple or Samsung came from Xiaomi. The Redmi 14C 4G saw 43% year-over-year growth, driven by strong sales in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Like Xiaomi’s recent success in wearables, the 14C’s popularity shows the brand’s strength in offering solid features at very competitive prices.

FAQs

Q1. What was the best-selling smartphone in Q1 2025?

Answer. The iPhone 16 topped global sales, marking the first time since 2022 that a non-Pro model led the rankings.

Q2. Which brands dominated the global top 10 list?

Answer. Apple claimed five spots, Samsung secured four, and Xiaomi was the only other brand to make the cut with its Redmi 14C 4G.

Q3. What contributed to the growth of budget smartphones?

Answer. Stronger demand in key emerging markets, fewer supply chain issues, and affordable pricing under $100 helped boost sales, particularly for Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy A06.

Over 184 Million Login Credentials Leaked Online From Google, Apple, Facebook and More

Highlights

  • Over 184 million login credentials were leaked online from major platforms like Google, Apple, Facebook, and banking services.
  • The breach was linked to infostealer malware, which harvests data from infected systems including browser autofill information, emails and saved documents.
  • Cybersecurity experts warn of rising data leaks.

A massive data leak has exposed more than 184 million login credentials including sensitive usernames and passwords from major platforms like Google, Apple, Facebook and even banking and government services.

The leak was discovered by cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler, who found the database open and unprotected, according to Website Planet.

Fowler revealed that the unencrypted and publicly accessible database held exactly 184,162,718 unique usernames and passwords. The leaked data is tied to popular services like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and even Roblox. Shockingly, the database also included login details for bank accounts, healthcare portals and government websites.

The database has since been taken offline.

What’s even more alarming is how this data was collected. Fowler says the credentials appear to have come from a type of malware known as an infostealer. He describes it as malicious software designed specifically to harvest sensitive information from an infected system.”

Infostealer malware can pull data from web browsers like autofill information and cookies as well as emails, saved documents, and even messages. All it takes is for someone to unknowingly download the malware.

Unfortunately, these kinds of leaks are becoming more common. Last year, the RockYou2024 breach exposed nearly 10 billion credentials, making it the largest password leak to date. Cybercriminals often use these massive datasets to carry out automated brute force attacks, trying various combinations to gain access to accounts.

If you’re concerned, now’s a good time to update your passwords and enable two-factor authentication.

Here’s How to Stay Safe –

  • Use strong passwords
  • Do not reuse the same passwords in different accounts.
  • Update your passwords regularly.
  • Enable two-factor or multi-factor authentication
  • Monitor your accounts regularly for any suspicious activity
  • Schedule auto-antivirus scans at regular intervals
  • Keep an eye out for phishing attempts
  • Never click on links, QR codes or attachments from unknown senders.
  • Clear out old emails with sensitive personal information

FAQs

Q1. What platforms were affected by the massive credential leak?

Answer. The leak exposed 184 million login credentials from major services like Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Instagram, Snapchat, and even banking and government sites.

Q2. How was the leaked data collected?

Answer. The credentials appear to have been harvested by infostealer malware, which extracts sensitive information from infected systems, including browser autofill data and saved documents.

Q3. What should users do to protect themselves?

Answer. Cybersecurity experts recommend updating passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and staying vigilant against malware to prevent unauthorised access.

There has been a whole lot of speculation and mainstream conversation recently about Apple iPhone production in India. It is no news that Apple is ramping up production in India and navigating rising trade tensions with China. But a new report is putting things into perspective in terms of numbers.

According to a new report from Canalys (via CNBC), Apple shipped a massive 11.5 million iPhones from India to the U.S. between January and April this year.

Now, this particular period is significant for multiple reasons.

Back in April, it was being reported that Apple flew out three cargo planes full of iPhones from both China and India. Although the company didn’t go into detail during its recent financial call, this new data gives us a better sense of what that production ramp-up in India looked like.

In April alone, 3 million iPhones were exported from India to the U.S., marking a 76% jump compared to the same month last year. However, that figure is down from 4.4 million units in March, suggesting Apple may have anticipated trouble ahead and sped up shipments earlier.

For comparison, iPhone exports from China to the U.S. totalled 4.3 million units in April, dropping sharply to just 900,000 in May. Interestingly, that May figure is also 76% lower year-over-year, the exact same percentage by which India’s April exports grew, highlighting the shifting supply chain dynamics.

Commenting on the report, Le Xuan Chiew, a research manager at Omdia, said, “This latest trade war with China, is the type of disturbance that Apple has long been trying to prepare itself for.”

He added that Apple began shifting parts of its supply chain to India as far back as the COVID-19 pandemic.

All of this is happening as Apple tries to spread out its manufacturing operations, especially with the looming threat of a 25% tariff on iPhones not made in the U.S., recently floated by President Trump.
