Telegram got banned in Brazil, as the company failed to check their mailbox on time

0

We all have trouble keeping track of our emails, resulting in hundreds, if not thousands, of them going unread. Individuals aren’t the only ones that suffer from email mishaps; companies do too. Due to a recent email communication issue between Telegram and Brazil’s Supreme Court, Telegram’s service in Brazil is in jeopardy. Yes, you read that right!

One of the world’s major instant messaging networking apps was suspended by Brazil’s Supreme Court because emails were either missed or left on read. According to Telegram’s founder and CEO Pavel Durov, it’s all a giant mishap.

It turns out that the Supreme Court of Brazil was sending takedown requests to an “old general-purpose email account” rather than a “specialised email address” set up by Telegram.

According to The Verge, Founder and CEO Pavel Durov issued a comment on the present situation via Telegram. According to him, the app was suspended by Brazil’s Supreme Court after his team failed to respond to an account deletion request. The report states unequivocally that the court’s demands were not deliberately ignored. Instead, the corporation opted to utilise a special email address for such requests, according to the CEO, but the court didn’t get the memo and continued to use a general-purpose email address. As a result, Telegram missed the communications and is now being blocked. The company has located the emails, according to the statement (presumably by going through the general-purpose address’s inbox), and is working to rectify the matter.

Durov, in a statement, on his Telegram channel said, “It seems that we had an issue with emails going between our telegram.org corporate addresses and the Brazilian Supreme Court. As a result of this miscommunication, the Court ruled to ban Telegram for being unresponsive.”

Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Brazilian Supreme Court had previously demanded telecoms agency Anatel to officially suspend Telegram until it complies with local rules and pays fines.

Telegram, which has become a communications hub for President Jair Bolsonaro, is said to have failed to prevent users from disseminating falsehoods.

Durov expressed regret to the Brazilian Supreme Court for the oversight.

“Unfortunately, our response must have been lost, because the Court used the old general-purpose email address in further attempts to reach us. As a result, we missed its decision in early March that contained a follow-up takedown request. Luckily, we have now found and processed it, delivering another report to the Court today,” he informed.

He asked the court to consider deferring its decision for a few days “to allow us to address the problem by designating a representative in Brazil and establishing a structure to respond to future important issues like this in a timely manner.”

HealthPlix SPOT: An app meant to ease doctors’ practice and ensure better health outcomes for their patients

0

As we gradually move towards a digitally enabled healthcare system, tools like Electronic Medical Records (EMR) are bound to become inevitable. EMR is the central component of the health IT infrastructure maintaining digital health records and is shared among multiple healthcare providers and agencies. When used effectively, it can immensely improve patient care across different parts of the country. In the age of artificial intelligence, patient information can be used to bring predictability and actionable insights to a variety of sectors using data analytics, including healthcare – which is one of the industries where critical decision making and certainty in action is of paramount importance.

While most of the health-tech platforms present in India today are centred around patients, HealthPlix is the only healthcare start-up that is designed to empower doctors. It is currently the largest EMR player in the Indian market with the widest coverage across geographies and specialties. Over 16 million patients across India have been treated through the HealthPlix EMR platform by doctors practicing across 15+ specialties with a doctor’s base and network spanned across 370+ cities in India.

User Interface and Functionalities

With over 50k downloads so far, it is available on both iOS and Android devices (desktop as well as mobile). The minimum requirement for the app to run is Android 5 or iOS 11 and later, which makes available to run on a wide range of smartphones. The app has a very simple and intuitive UI, doctor-facing easy-to-use features, most of the tasks can be done with a single or few clicks. Its advanced AI algorithm makes it smarter for user experience. Simple low latency interface for video consulting and direct in-app printing function makes it much easier and quicker for small tasks. Interestingly, the app uses military-grade 256-bit encryption for data security.

Unique Features

The app comes with a host of EMR features developed to make doctor’s practice mobile-friendly and doctor’s life easier. It creates a virtual clinic in one-click – in just 30 seconds, and helps create a ‘Digital Visiting Card’ for doctors – with information about their clinics, timings, professional history and accomplishments. It also has the option to share their ‘Digital Visiting Card’ with their patients to get more appointments, as per the available time slots. The app allows doctors to keep a track of their daily schedules – upcoming appointments and availability. It maintains easy to access patient list and helps engage with them by sharing updates via SMS. This application improves patient retention with automated reminders for follow-ups, awareness, and greetings via SMS. It sends digital prescriptions to patients via SMS or cloud print to share them physically.

Conclusion

Doctors have immense knowledge, but they have very little time. HealthPlix is driven by the goal of helping doctors make effective decisions at point of care to ensure better patient health outcomes, within a few minutes of meeting the patient. These few minutes matter most as it is during this time when all the importance decisions are made, such as treatment plan, diagnostic tests, drugs and dosage, surgical procedures, and hospital referrals.

Best Adventure Games for Android [2022]

Adventure Games have the most distinctive gaming genres. There are no specific mechanics in it. Simply said, the game must take you on a journey of some sort. As a result, adventure games featuring platformer, puzzle, RPG, shooter, and a variety of other elements are available. This is what makes selecting titles for this list complex, as most games meet the criteria for adventure games at some or the other level.

Best Adenture games for Android

After years of listening to reader feedback, we’re hoping to have uncovered some good games that will take you on a fictitious trip. If you too are looking for such a list of games doing precisely that, here are our top choices for the best adventure games on Android.

1. Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact game

This one must have been known to you up until now! Since its release, Genshin Impact has been all over the internet. It has taken over the video business by drawing a massive player base and producing about $400 million in revenue in its first two months on the market, thanks to high-quality images and captivating characters.

Although Genshin Impact appears to be an open Anime world, it has a lot more to offer. It’s a free-to-play game featuring RPG Gacha elements. MiHoYo, a well-known Chinese studio, created and distributed it. The narrative continues when the traveller becomes separated from his twin sibling in Teyvat and sets out to find her with the help of other friends he encounters later on the map.

Genshin Impact Adventure game

Players manage a number of party members in the game, each having their own set of abilities, weapons, armour, and personalities. It looks nice, the controls are great, and you’ll be having a lot of fun with this one.

2. Grand Mountain Adventure

Grand Mountain Adventure game

One of the newer adventure games on the list is Grand Mountain Adventure. If you love snow adventures and Winter sports, this is the one you’re going to love.

Grand Mountain Adventure is a skiing game with aspects of race and exploration. The lift transports players to various tracks. After that, you ski the tracks, in an attempt to beat the time limit. You can also simply ski about and take in the sights. Hidden regions, five mountains (in the premium edition), internet leaderboards, and the ability to do stunts while hitting huge air are all included. Additional cable cars and new pathways are opened up for players to explore as they conquer more paths. Finding hidden orange umbrellas across the mountains unlocks extra features such as a telescope mode, which allows you to see the environment in first-person rather than the standard birds-eye view.

Grand Mountain Adventure Android game

The controls and perspective of the game are a little strange at first, but not too challenging. The game’s graphics are likewise stunning, and the gameplay is fluid. The first mountain is free, and the remainder can be unlocked by purchasing the premium version.

3. Guardian Tales

Guardian Tales Adventure game Android

Guardian Tales is a retro-style adventure game with great controls and hack-and-slash gameplay features. It is an action-packed option developed by the Kong Studios.

The story revolves around a Knight from the Kanterbury Kingdom. He’s a new member of the Guardian community who has sworn for the safety of their Kingdom fighting the ‘Invaders’ to protect it. In short, players explore a realm while solving puzzles and unravelling the game’s mysteries. There are boss fights, a nice tale, and some entertaining side activities. It has the feel of an older Zelda game with the addition of city-building features. There are also social mechanics such as guilds that allow you to speak with your pals.

Guardian Tales Adventure Android game

It is another high graphic game with mind-blowing features and character play. The game does, however, rely on certain gacha elements, which might be aggravating for free players.

4. Milkmaid of the Milkyway

Milkmaid of the Milkyway adventure game

The beginnings of a point-and-click adventure The Milkmaids of the Milky Way are so calm that the game is on the verge of collapsing. No wonder ijt is known as an Award-winning classic!

Ruth is a young lady living on an isolated farm in a Norwegian fjord in the 1920s. She produces dairy goods that she sells to a town a few hours away. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a giant gold spacecraft appears and steals her cows.
Fortunately, Ruth has had enough of it and jumps on board the starship, where she becomes entangled in a cosmic battle. We can’t say much more since it would give too much away, but we can say that this old-school adventure is a great way to spend a few hours.

Milkmaid of the Milkyway adventure Android game

The puzzles are rational yet fulfilling; the graphics are stunning; and the game amusingly tells the entire storey in rhyme, which is both charming and unique. Milkmaid of the Milky Way is a narrative about breaking away from the past, about ageing, life, death, and time – but most of all, it’s about finding your own place in the cosmos.

5. Minecraft

Minecraft Adventure game

Minecraft for Android is a sandbox PC game built on virtual bricks that you can play in the palm of your hand. In certain ways, yes. Minecraft enables users to find and extract raw resources, make tools and things to build structures, earthworks, and machines.

In fact, it’s a pared-down version of the desktop game, albeit you may still play in a variety of ways. Players can fight against computer-controlled gangs, collaborate with or compete against other players in the same globe, depending on the different game mode. In creative mode, you may explore and begin creating a virtual environment right away. The extra complexities of gathering and maintaining supplies during the day — and then fighting foes at night – come with survival mode.

Although it’s a little less feature-rich than the full desktop version, Minecraft for Android still has enough to offer, and the world’s randomly generated nature allows for virtually endless gameplay possibilities. There’s a lot more to it than just a bunch of blocks.

“Mobile phones are an ideal target for data privacy threats”

0

Data is the new oil of today’s digital economy. Being more valuable than ever, data is the key to the smooth functionality of everything from the government to local companies, and without it, progress would halt. In such a scenario – especially when mobile phones are there in every hand – maintaining its privacy is of utmost importance as private/personal data in the wrong hands could lead to misuse. Akarsh Singh, CEO and Co-founder, Tsaaro, a data protection and cybersecurity company, takes you through different points of concern with regard to data privacy, data threats, data protection and more, in a conversation with Ramesh Kumar Raja. Excerpts:

What is data privacy and why is it important?

Think of data as your wardrobe, which is yours; you would give some pieces to other people, who ‘you’ want to give it to, but it wasn’t something you allowed when someone gets their hands on your clothes from your wardrobe. Data privacy is handling information responsibly, similar to handling how you share your clothes in the above case. When we talk about handling information, we refer to personal information like health records, financial data, addresses, and so on. For businesses, it goes even beyond personal information about clients and employees and could refer to trade secrets, proprietary research, operation data, etc.

Data privacy has always been of utmost importance. Private data in the wrong hands could lead to misuse. Corporations need to prioritize data privacy policies not just because of the hefty fines a data breach includes but also an ethical and moral duty to ensure that the data you collect is not used for anything else other than intended. Further, companies also need to protect their trade secrets and additional proprietary information from their competitors. At a higher level, government agencies need to protect sensitive data as top-secret, as information in the hands of an enemy state could prove to be disastrous.

Data Privacy

What are the most common data threats nowadays as they keep changing/ evolving with time or day-to-day lifestyle trends?

With the number of NFTs and other digital assets that have come into the picture, the number of phishing and ransomware attacks on individuals has grown exponentially and are common these days. Phishing is when hackers send digital messages to trick people into clicking links, installing malware to compromise sensitive data. Remember seeing that one message in your inbox that said you have won a lottery of a few billion dollars, click this link to get the money transferred to your account, phishing and ransomware attacks hide in plain sight using these methods.

Such attacks enable hackers to steal user logins, credit card credentials, and other types of personal financial information and gain access to private databases. Ransomware attacks are where the hackers kidnap an entire database of an individual or an organization for ransom (mainly in the form of cryptocurrencies).

When it comes to data protection, how vulnerable are we as individuals, especially when mobile phones are there in every hand?

Ever since we’ve started wearing our tech on our wrists and have been ordering our AI assistance to turn the lights on and off of our house, we are constantly dealing with data. Simply put, almost everything we do in our everyday life is associated with data, which makes us extremely vulnerable.

Mobile phones are an ideal target for data privacy threats in this day and age. Our increased dependence on technology has fueled data creation exponentially. Google now processes 40,000 search queries every second. According to DOMO’s ‘Data Never Sleeps’, every minute of the day – WhatsApp users share over 41 million messages, Instagram users post 300,000 stories, and LinkedIn users apply for over 69,000 jobs. The fact of the matter is that there’s an enormously high amount of data being generated every second merely by engaging with such platforms. While most companies collect user data for the purposes of targeted advertising or website management, the amount of personal and non-personal data they collect varies. In the absence of any data protection regulation, your data may most likely end up with anyone from a researcher to an advertiser to a foreign intelligence agency.

The most common threats to mobile security include mobile malware. There are many ways your mobile security could be under threat, such as application-based threats where you download an app that looks legitimate but starts stealing your data from the device without you even realizing.

Sometimes while browsing the web, people may come across harmful websites which seem fine on the front but automatically download malicious content into your device. Do ensure that in case you use public Wi-Fi, you are susceptible to your unencrypted data being stolen. Further, the increased use of wearable techs like the Apple Watch or physical devices such as Alexa connected to your systems can enable bad actors to use IP addresses to access your system.

How can data privacy be strengthened in India? What’s your opinion about Data Loss Prevention (DLP) in India?

Like a kingdom’s fortress needs to be strengthened, like the security of a highly-priced art piece needs to be strengthened, even the concepts and applications to ensure data privacy is in place which needs to be strengthened. Strengthening focus on user consent lies at the centre of the complex issue of data privacy. However, consent is conceptually a complex issue. We need to incorporate policies to help individuals better understand how their data is being used and the consequences of sharing such data. Transparency within organizations needs to be enhanced. Individuals need to understand what they consent to while going through a privacy policy.

With additional focus on meaningful consent, we can push the boundary on inclusivity, and privacy, thereby cementing India’s position as a global leader in an individual-centric data economy.

Just when we thought that saving files on the cloud helps us ensure that we don’t lose a set of data, we realize that it isn’t enough, you will have to back the data in physical copies as well, quite redundant, we know, but to prevent data loss, it is necessary. But what is DLP?

Data loss prevention solutions are growing in popularity as enterprises look for ways to reduce the risk of sensitive data leaking outside the company. DLP is a set of technologies that analyze the data to identify sensitive data and prevent incidents accurately. DLP technology inspects data sent via emails or messaging over the network and executes responses to address the risk of data leaks.

With increasing innovations, threats are also on the rise. Prevention and management of data are most crucial so as to maintain a secure and maintained cloud space. DLP (Data Loss Prevention) solutions are gaining utmost significance considering the threats, anticipations, and apprehensions of the cyber world

Data is an organization’s most precious asset, and understanding the various data states can help determine the best security measures to deploy. Technology like DLP gives both IT and security personnel an overall perspective on the organization’s location, distribution, and use of information. It eliminates all possibilities of data theft, including fines and lost income.

India is among the most evolving markets and companies, especially those that produce/handle significant amounts of data, need to be aware that protecting it is essential. Data breaches can cause many damages, including financial, reputational, and legal ones; thus, prevention is the best idea.

The government is working to bring Personal Data Protection Bill. What are the implications of the bill on end-users?

In the absence of any regulation to protect data, individual data could very likely end up with anyone to a marketing researcher for advertisements to a foreign intelligence agency.

The Personal Data Protection Bill is undoubtedly a step in the correct direction. But when we talk about what the available draft of the Personal Data Protection Bill has in store for the individuals and organizations, we think it would do great, if people would refer to a recent survey report we had published quite recently.

One of the most significant implications would be regarding data collection practices of businesses. Users will be able to exercise various rights to protect their data, such as the right to access, correct and erase their data or even withdraw their consent. Each individual is provided with the right to ask for confirmation regarding their data being processed by whom and for what. However, certain aspects of the bill, such as non-applicability to non-personal and anonymised data, are something that needs to be improved.

Rapid adoption of Cloud and IoT technologies are resulting in growing complexities pertaining to data security, network infrastructure, and security regulation & compliance, thereby boosting demand for cybersecurity solutions and services across the country. What’s your take on this, especially when threat points have increased?

The global pandemic pushed a lot of organizations towards the technical direction, and many organizations ended up utilizing information technology to reduce the workforce or be able to keep costs in control. Also, the hybrid work environment resulted in using various technological resources by the organizations to digitize their operations to survive the crisis.

Remote working has made it imperative for organizations to deploy cloud-based applications, like SaaS (Software as a Service), to ensure uninterrupted access to data and servers with complete security protocols. We’re able to continue our digital lives through Zoom Video and Slack because of cloud services such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

Internet of Things (IoT) is the umbrella term for devices connected and operated through the Internet. The application of IoT is not limited to the IT industry only. The pandemic has made it imperative for the Manufacturing and Production industries to employ IoT in their operations too. To reduce expenditure, improve the efficiency of processes, and become resilient to future crises, organizations have started to accelerate the adoption of IoT in their activities.

While remote working became the saviour, it also raised concerns regarding privacy breaches and the loss of essential data from unprotected devices and systems. As per Campaign India, India ranks third in the top 10 most affected countries by cyber-attacks. This reliance on digital platforms and services has left several businesses vulnerable to cyber threats and malicious attempts.

Since its introduction, the brand has seen an increase in the number of users on its gaming platform. In an interview with Shweta Srivastava, Nakul Kapur, Head of International Business and Games at MX Player, discusses his journey in the esports sector, what makes MX Player unique, and much more. Excerpts:

Kindly tell us about your journey and experiences in the video games and esports industry.

We started MX Games in February 2020 with a single format of gaming available in practice mode. Over the last 2 years, we have grown our selection of games from 9 to over 100+ across multiple genres to cater to our large and diverse set of users on the platform. Our gaming inventory ranges across categories from popular Indian board games to strategy, quizzes, racing, arcade, sports, action amongst others. The genres like Casual, Arcade, Survival, Strategy and Action constitute nearly 71% of the total gameplays on the platform.

In the last 2 quarters – during Diwali and Christmas in the year 2021, we also introduced real-world rewards and features like Jackpot on the games tab for our Indian gamers which were well received by the audiences. The platform also has virtual currencies, PvP battles, tournaments and social features to provide an immersive gaming experience. Our recently released gaming report is a study of how users spent billions of minutes on MX Games in 2021 with a lot of users coming in from tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The report also gave insights on which cities topped the list in terms of usage, engagement and which genre of games did well on our platform.

How has the gaming industry been booming or has boomed since COVID-19?

With limited choices of entertainment due to the pandemic, people explored online gaming as one of the options to keep themselves entertained, and this has proved to be a major turning point for the online/casual gaming sector. Another reason is the increase in the usage of smartphones and internet penetration across the country. The other suitable factors like an increase in the supply of world-class titles, games with localized content, and new features such as multiplayer and social elements have helped in the rise of the gaming industry. Considering these favorable factors and a continuous rise in the user consumption, we can say that the Indian gaming sector has now become one of the mainstream entertainment options for consumers across the nation.

When it comes to games, who are your audiences?

Since our games are available for free across Android and iOS, most of our audiences are millennials with a majority being male.

In the recent report released by us, the study shows that nearly 96% playing users were below the age of 35, with 74.3% of them being millennials. In terms of gameplays, 94% were from users below the age of 35, with 69.4% of them being millennials. The male to female ratio was 80:20.

How Games at MX fared in 2021?

Since the time we have launched games on MX in February 2020, we have seen a steady growth in the user’s consumption pattern. However, the year 2021 saw an exceptional rise in the number of gamers on the platform and the total time spent on it. The onset of the pandemic gave rise to an upward curve in the digital gaming world. Some of the key findings of the report we recently released were:

  • With an average of 56 minutes per day, users spent a total of 4.35 billion minutes gaming on the platform.
  • 7 billion game plays were recorded in the year with the highest being 16.1 million in a single day
  • More than 8000 game sessions were completed on the platform every minute
  • In terms of geography – Patna, Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai were among the top 10 cities that contributed to 66% of the gameplays on the platform. Bihar topped the list in terms of gameplays & engagement
  • The non-metro user engagement was 20% higher than the metro user’s engagement
  • In terms of audience, 96% playing users were below the age of 35, with 74.3% of them being millennials. In terms of gameplays, 94% were from users below the age of 35, with 69.4% of them being millennials. The male to female ratio was 80:20
  • Categories like Casual, Arcade, Survival, Strategy and Action constituted nearly 71% of the total gameplays on the platform.

How many games do you offer on your platform and what have been their responses? What next now?

Our gaming inventory ranges across categories from popular Indian board games to strategy, casual, arcade, survival, strategy and action games. These have constituted nearly 71% of the total gameplays on the platform and among these, Bubble Blast was India’s most favorite game with over 336 million gameplays in 2021. Whereas in MX City Cricket Battle, more than 80,000 sixes were hit every hour out of the total number of runs scored by the users. Similarly, during the Boom Knight game, more than 57,000 missiles were launched every hour.

Recently, we have introduced score-based games and a leaderboard system. We further plan to expand our portfolio of battle mode games as well.

With so many popular gaming platforms already available in the industry, what makes MX Player distinct from similar projects inflowing the space?

The online gaming sector has seen an increase in India, and we want to further leverage this by offering high quality games to further increase our engagement on the platform. MX Player is one of the largest platforms in the free to play casual gaming segment. With over 100+ games across different genres, we are at the forefront of creating unique experiences for casual gamers with games like Bubble Blast, Flap Up, Air Lift and Arrow Master amongst others. We have gamified the entire experience for the users with the MX coin economy being at the core of this exercise. Users can earn coins by engaging in multiple activities on the platform and inturn use those coins to convert to Amazon coupon codes or coupons of various brands like Zomato, Myntra, CoinDCX, Tata Cliq etc. Our focus has always been on being an “Everytainment app” and we’re very bullish about games doing well and being an important part of our offerings.

Your parting thoughts on MX Player’s plan and vision for the coming years and the direction in which esports and game streaming is headed in India?

The gaming industry is growing globally and we at MX would want to be at forefront to bring that change in India. We are looking to scale our efforts on the gaming tab to our entire user base and are now diversifying the category of games that are available on our platform by adding newer genres like battle-mode, fantasy, card games, Indian board games, etc. We are also looking to create a Meta within our platform that would enable us to have a deeper engagement with our existing and new users. This is a key focus area for us at MX Player which would further enable us to take gaming to the next wave of millions of new users across the globe.

Difference between Android and Smart TV: All you need to know

0

Once used to be a luxury item television (TV) has now become a must have household item. TV has evolved much since its invention in 1924 by Scottish engineer John Logie Baird. While, television was introduced in India on September 15, 1959 in Delhi. According to the Broadcast India 2018 Survey conducted by Broadcast Audience Research Council (Barc), 197 million of the 298 million homes in India today own a TV.

Throughout the last century, TV designs have changed from bulky to sleek, large to small and normal to smart and Android TV. In order to meet the ever-increasing needs of consumers, the television industry seems to have been chasing technological updates, making it difficult for consumers to shortlist the best option. The arrival of smart and Android TV have added duel to fire. Consumers might get confused while choosing a TV. The features that differentiate a smart TV from an Android TV are minor. Here are the some pointers which distinguishes the Android and Smart TV:

Smart TV

Smart TV is any TV that can offer additional programmes through internet connectivity. Android TV is also a smart TV which runs on the Android operating system by Google.

Android TV offers almost all the functions of smart TV. It runs on Android operating system while other smart TVs run on a variety of operating systems.

Access to apps

Having an Android TV allows consumers to access all the apps that they normally use through their smartphone. They can easily access YouTube to Netflix, Prime Video and other application through the Android TV. These apps are optimised for the TV platform and feature easy-to-use controls.

On the other hand, app support is restricted on smart TVs that run Tizen OS or WebOS. There are limited apps in its app store. As compared to Android TV, updates in smart TVs are more difficult to come by.

OS Updates

Another difference between Android and Smart TV is application upgradation and media streaming. Android TV developers keep updating various applications frequently as compared to smart TV. Furthermore, while connected to WiFi, Android TV allows for automated application upgrades, whereas smart TVs find it difficult to do so.

Android TV

Voice Assistant

With the help of built-in Google assistant, Android TV users can switch channels easily and search for shows through voice control. Android TV users do need any input device to change channels. Due to absence of voice control, Smart TV users have no other option but to enter content using a full-size keyboard.

Screen Mirroring

Thanks to Google Assistant and built-in Chromecast, Android TV users enjoy the flexibility to screen mirror their favourite app right to Android TV from an Android phone. This cannot be done on a smart TV without additional projection equipment.
