Why Instagram’s pinned posts could be beneficial for many

0
iOS users can now delete their Instagram using the app itself, here's how to do it

Instagram has been constantly updating its features to improve user’s experience. Reportedly, the Meta-owned photo sharing app is working on a new feature to allow its users to pin their post on top of their page or profile. Facebook, another Meta-owned platform and Twitter already have this feature.

Pinning a post is a great way to feature an important announcement or highlight some of your best content to your followers and friends.

Why pinned post is important

Having pinned post feature will allow creators and other professionals to highlight some of their best work on the top of their profiles. The addition of ‘pinned post’ feature will not force visitors to scroll through many posts searching for what they want. The ‘pinned post feature’ will make Instagram feed more of a ‘portfolio’ for artists to showcase their best and most relevant work.

Instagram is yet to share any confirmed update on when the feature will go live for everyone. Many a time, Instagram releases new features for users of limited countries and regions before others. It means Indian users may have to wait longer to get this feature in their profile on Instagram. Currently, India is home to 230.25 million Instagram users, the largest audience pool in the world.

Family Center – a new, central place for parents/guardians to be more involved in their teens’ online experience, ‘Top’ and ‘Reels’ are among other new features introduced by the Instagram to offer a smooth user experience.

Following Apple, Google also adds privacy labels to Play Store

Google Play Store

Google has announced that privacy labels will be added to the Play Store, providing consumers with additional information about the data gathered by Android apps. The change comes more than a year after Apple introduced similar labels for the App Store. They also inform customers about how much data apps gather. “We heard from users and app developers that displaying the data an app collects, without additional context, is not enough,” said Google. “Users want to know for what purpose their data is being collected and whether the developer is sharing user data with third parties.”

The functionality is currently available on the Google Play Store, and developers must complete the information on their apps by July 20th at the latest. The idea, as stated by both Google and Apple, is to provide consumers with better insight into how and why applications collect data, allowing them to make more educated decisions about the services they wish to use.

Elon Musk shares these two ideas about Twitter

Elon Musk
Elon Musk

After taking over Twitter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been sharing his views about the micro-blogging site. Sharing his latest ideas about Twitter, Tesla founder tweeted two ideas that he believed could improve the platform.

According to Musk, DMs should have end to end encryption like signal, so no one can spy on or hack your messages. He also believes that Twitter must be politically neutral to deserve public trust.

A $44 billion agreement has been inked between Twitter and Musk for the acquisition of the micro-blogging site.

Musk has been tweeting about things he would like to see on Twitter and his idea of free speech has already run into troubled waters as many apprehend that hate speech might get encouraged in the garb of free speech.

To this, he has clarified that by free speech, he meant one that matches with the law. “If people want less free speech, they will ask the government to pass laws to that effect,” he said.

In another tweet, eccentric billionaire and newfound Twitter owner Musk, known for his outlandish statements, also said that he’s “going to buy McDonald’s and fix all the ice cream machines”.

Newfound Twitter owner also said that he planned to buy Coca-Cola next “to put the cocaine back in.”

Before taking over Twitter, the Tesla founder tweeted a series of ideas that he believed could improve the platform, with some appearing serious — like the possibility of introducing an edit button — while others seemed wholly bizarre, such as converting Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters into a homeless shelter. Earlier, Musk was only set to join the board which he declined without citing any reason.

On April 25, Twitter announced that it entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an entity wholly owned by Elon Musk at approximately $44 billion. Twitter will become a privately held company after completion of the transaction.

Twitter Board of Directors have unanimously approved the transactions and is expected to close in 2022, subject to the approval of Twitter stockholders, the receipt of applicable regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of other customary closing conditions.

Donald Trump’s Truth Social sees more download on App store, beats Twitter and TikTok

0

Beating the popular micro-blogging site Twitter and video-focused social networking service TikTok, Truth Social has become the number one on App Store. Truth Social is a social media platform created by Trump Media & Technology Group.

Sharing a screenshot of the top five social media apps from the App Store, Tesla CEO Elon Musk who just acquired Twitter, shared a tweet saying that Truth Social is beating Twitter & TikTok. In the screenshot shared by Musk, one can see Truth Social is top downloaded free app followed by Twitter and TikTok, owned by Chinese company ByteDance Ltd.

Truth Social came to existence after former US President Donald Trump was de-platformed from Twitter following the Capitol Hill siege last year. Twitter had permanently suspended Trump’s account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.

Registering a rise of 150%, Trump’s Truth Social reached 75,000 download between April 18 and 25.

Since its launch in October 2021, Trump’s Truth Social has been downloaded about 1.4 million times. The app is yet to be made available in Indian market on Apple Store. However, it is available on Google Play Store for Android phones.

In another development, former US President Donald Trump said that he would not go back to Twitter despite Tesla CEO Elon Musk buying it. According to Trump, Twitter has become very boring.

Trump will continue to use his own ‘TRUTH Social’ as the only social media platform.

Ginesys launches India’s first omichannel retailing suite Ginesys One

The Ginesys One suite is backed by a single support staff and built on current technology. It aims to future-proof a retailer’s business and help them navigate the ever-changing world of retail. Therefore, Ginesys One is the ultimate solution to save time, effort, and money on integration from the start while achieving multiple Omni use cases in a seamless manner.

Ginesys One suite: Features and specs

The Ginesys One suite, a first in the industry, combines functionality across all of the apps in the suite. A retailer using Ginesys One can thus achieve modern Omni-retail capabilities with minimal fuss. Like, buying online receiving in-store discounts, in-store suggestions based on online purchases and browsing, intelligent order routing, and more.

Also, as the system is retail-ready, retailers may go live 50 per cent faster than with other bespoke integrated products. The suite’s ads are available on a subscription basis. It also means that the complete suite has a 70 per cent faster time to return on investment than its worldwide counterparts.

Prashant Lohia, CEO and Founder, of Ginesys expressed his thoughts on the launch and says, “Our customer base has many fast-growing brands that have the potential to breach the SMB ceiling. With brands aspiring towards globalisation, and consumer behaviour changing due to the pandemic and e-commerce possibilities, retailers are quickly shifting from multichannel to omnichannel models. True omnichannel has remained a dream, so far, because of the friction visible among various products and solutions involved in the process.” “We are keen on realizing this dream by making the user experience seamless. Ginesys One, therefore, ensures common user management, master data management, common logging, customer support and a seamless UI for users. A Ginesys One relationship manager will focus on enabling the retailer’s success,” he says.

Ginesys One suite: Benefits to the retailers

The Ginesys One suite will offer retailers access to the following omnichannel apps-

  • Ginesys ERP and Business Intelligence: Ginesys One’s centrepiece is a complete retail ERP. It has features for dynamic decision making, merchandising, procurement, warehousing, accounting, and distribution.
  • Ginesys Desktop POS: It is a desktop-based solution that manages in-store billing and inventory.
  • Zwing Cloud POS: This is a web-based point-of-sale system that also works with Android mobile devices.
  • Browntape OMS: Order and inventory management for e-commerce, including integrations to all marketplaces and webstore systems.
  • Casa: It is multi-app customer loyalty, CRM, and lifecycle marketing package.
  • EaseMyGST: EaseMyGST is a GST programme that automates the creation of E-invoices, E-way bills, and GST returns.
  • Third-party integrations are supported: Various prominent retail tech tools, marketplaces, and e-commerce suites are also pre-integrated with the suite.

Ginesys is hoping that with the new suite of applications it will be able to drive retail transactions of up to 1 lakh crore annually.
