As the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 approaches, leaks and speculations are gaining momentum. In the last few days, two different sources have leaked Galaxy S25 renders giving us a sneak peek into the upcoming smartphone design. These leaks are the first unofficial look reveal of S25 this year.
Schedule to launch early next year, Galaxy S25’s new leaks reveal we are getting a familiar design language but Samsung will introduce a few key upgrades.
X (previously Twitter) user Steve H. McFly along with Android Headline recently posted a few renders revealing the overall shape and dimensions of the Galaxy S25.

The renders also make it clear that the current trend of flat-sided design is also not going anywhere.
Certain media reports have claimed that the Galaxy S25 will be slightly smaller at 146.9 x 70.4 x 7.2mm. If true, this will make the upcoming smartphone shorter, narrower, and thinner than its predecessor.

The biggest design change as we can see, even though very minor, comes from the camera layout. While there are still three cutouts, the cameras now have textured rings, adding a touch of sophistication.
This design element for those who pay attention and now remember was first seen on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Galaxy S25 – Rumours Features
If rumours are to be believed the Galaxy S25 series could use an Exynos chipset globally. However, this claim was challenged by some others who believe it will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
As per all previous reports around Galaxy S25, the Snapdragon option seems more likely. Leaked benchmarks have already indicated that it outperforms even Apple’s A18 Pro chip in a previous report.
The Galaxy S25 clock speeds potentially reaching 4.32GHz is expected to offer lightning-fast performance.
Samsung is also rumoured to update to 12GB RAM on the non-Ultra models. Meanwhile, the storage capacity starts from 128GB.
The battery capacity is likely to stay at 4,000mAh.
As per rumours, Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S25 in early January 2025. It will most likely be around January 13th as it would follow CES 2025.

Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 received FDA approval for a new hearing aid feature.
Apple becomes the first tech company to offer hearing aid software through earbuds.

Apple recently announced a groundbreaking health feature for the AirPods Pro 2 — a hearing aid. However, the company also immediately noted that the FDA approval, which is needed for a clinical grade, was still pending. Now we have learned that the FDA has officially authorized this feature.
FDA’s approval makes Apple the first tech company to offer over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid software through a consumer tech product like AirPods.
FDA announced the authorisation on its website and noted, “Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the first over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid software device, Hearing Aid Feature, intended to be used with compatible versions of the Apple AirPods Pro headphones. Once installed and customized to the user’s hearing needs, the Hearing Aid Feature enables compatible versions of the AirPods Pro to serve as an OTC hearing aid, intended to amplify sounds for individuals 18 years or older with perceived mild to moderate hearing impairment.”
The FDA’s decision involved a detailed testing process, which is also revealed by the organisation.
The approval happened after –
a clinical study involving 118 participants with mild to moderate hearing loss.
AirPods Pro 2 hearing aid mode demonstrated real benefits without any noticeable side effects.
This approval means the feature will likely roll out later this year.
AirPods Pro 2 To Compete With Over-the-counter Dedicated Devices
AirPods Pro 2 Introduce the World’s First All-in-One Hearing Health Experience
With this new hearing aid feature, Apple is set to compete directly with other OTC hearing aids.
A Wired report notes that although many OTC hearing aids double as Bluetooth headphones, AirPods Pro 2 will offer two key advantages.
“One of the most impressive features is something no one else has provided: these hearing settings are applied to the streaming experience too. So if you have trouble hearing highs, those settings will also be applied to phone calls, music, movies, and games—all automatically. Most (if not all) other OTC hearing aids shut their hearing aid features off altogether whenever you are streaming media, so this could represent a real, game-changing improvement for people with hearing loss.” – Wired report mentions.
Unlike most OTC hearing aids, AirPods Pro will not disable hearing compensation when streaming content.
Moreover, the AirPods Pro 2 can also be programmed using an audiogram. It will be similar to the prescription hearing aids and will allow users to upload their specific hearing profiles.
Most OTC hearing aids are typically priced between $300-400. This indicates that priced at a discounted $199, AirPods Pro 2 could disrupt the market.
AirPods Pro 2 Offering “all-in-one hearing health experience”
The AirPods Pro 2 can be configured on iPhones as hearing aids. (Image credit – Apple)
While announcing the new hearing aid feature, Apple revealed that the aim of this innovation was to provide the first “all-in-one hearing health experience.”
It is designed with the following primary goals –
Prevention: AirPods Pro 2 offers both passive and active noise reduction. The H2 chip reduces loud noise 48,000 times per second.
Awareness: Users can take a clinical-grade hearing test in just five minutes. Will give personalized results and recommendations.
Assistance: The hearing aid feature will allow real-time adjustments based on the user’s hearing profile. Will also help with conversations and engagement with surroundings.
Apple has released a firmware update with several iOS 18 features for AirPods Pro 2.
However, it’s currently unclear if the hearing aid functionality will be included now or come later.

Hearing aid developers closed lower on Tuesday after Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) unveiled a major upgrade to its AirPods Pro earbuds, with the addition of hearing aid technology as an inbuilt feature.
Amplifon, Demant, GN Store Nord, and Sonova Holding were among notable decliners.
When will the Apple earbuds offer the hearing aids feature?
The new hearing aids feature needs second-gen AirPods Pro to function.
Apple claims it developed the feature, “using 150,000 real-world audiograms and millions of simulations.”
Apple’s Hearing Aid feature will come with iOS 18, which should arrive soon.
First, it will begin with the hearing test on the user’s paired iPhone or iPad.

Apple introduced the Secure Exclave privacy feature with the M4 iPad Pro.
The feature is now coming to the iPhone 16 with the A18 chip.
Secure Exclave ensures user privacy with an extra layer of protection.
The Secure Exclave includes a hardware-based Secure Indicator Light (SIL) that shows when the camera or microphone is in use.
The sensor indicators are directly controlled through hardware providing stronger protection.
A18 chip-powered iPhone 16 to get a new privacy feature called “Secure Exclave.”
Earlier this year, Apple introduced a new privacy feature called “Secure Exclave” with the launch of the M4 iPad Pro. Now recent reports suggest Apple is bringing the same privacy feature to the A18 chip-powered iPhone 16.
Secure Exclave is designed to enhance user privacy. It adds an extra layer of protection.
9to5Mac reports confirm Secure Exclave based on the iOS 18 firmware. According to the 9to5Mac report, the new SIL mechanism is also present in the A18 chip that powers all iPhone 16 models.
It is important to note that this Secure Exclave is different from the long-standing Secure Enclave, earlier used in Apple devices since the iPhone 5s to protect sensitive data like fingerprint information.
Developer Guilherme Rambo first revealed details about Secure Exclave in a post on social media platform Mastodon.
Developer Guilherme Rambo on Mastodon revealing details of ‘Secure Exclave’ on M4 iPad.
On the M4 iPads, the Secure Exclave manages the rendering of the camera and microphone indicators on the OLED display. This makes it difficult for malicious apps to access these sensors without being noticed.
The privacy enhancement comes with the Secure Indicator Light (SIL). These were first introduced on the M4 iPad Pro earlier this year.
Indicator lights such as tiny orange and green dots appear when these sensors are in use. (Image credit – 9to5Mac)
This hardware-based mechanism uses an indicator light such as the tiny orange and green dots when the camera or microphone is in use. The indicator light is displayed directly by the hardware. This makes it nearly impossible for malware or unauthorized apps to bypass the sensor indicators.
Earlier this year, Developer Guilherme Rambo was also the one to confirm these details in another post.
“Fun fact about the M4 iPad Pro: it’s the first device to support and use Apple’s new Secure Indicator Light (SIL) mechanism. When using the microphone or camera, the corresponding indicator dot is effectively rendered in hardware (using the display), making it a lot less likely that any malware or user space app would be able to access those sensors without the user’s knowledge,” Rambo posted on Mastodon.
We have previously seen Apple using camera and microphone usage indicators in iOS 14 through software triggers. However, the new Secure Exclave technology makes this protection even stronger as the indicators are controlled directly through hardware components and not any external software.
This adds an additional safeguard against unauthorized use of these sensors.
FAQs
Q1. What is Secure Exclave?

An example of its image generation tool was shared by Apple SVP Craig Federighi exclusively with WIRED.
Federighi shared details of Apple Intelligence servers.
Apple Intelligence features like Image Playgrounds and Genmoji will not arrive with iOS 18.1.
They are expected to be introduced with iOS 18.2 later this year.
Apple Intelligence features will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro or later and M1-powered iPads and Macs.
iPhone 16 has been launched and iOS 18 will be rolling out in a matter of days. However, the wait for Apple Intelligence after the grand WWDC announcement will be longer. As per reports, the key Apple Intelligence features might not arrive until later this year. To wave off some of the disappointments amongst the fans, Apple recently released a glimpse of the image generation tool.
The Cupertino giant shared what’s to come exclusively to with WIRED magazine through an example.
Apple’s SVP Craig Federighi used the tools to create a birthday-themed image of his dog, Bailey, showcasing the AI’s abilities.
Birthday-themed image of Craig Federighi’s dog, Bailey, showcasing the Apple Intelligence Abilities. (Image Shared Exclusively with WIRED)
The image is generated in an animation style similar to Pixar. It is also one of the first examples of Apple’s AI image generation in action.
While Apple doesn’t add visual watermarks, WIRED placed one to comply with its policy on AI content.
However, no watermark doesn’t mean Apple will hide the AI image source information from users. Apple’s AI-created images will include metadata. This will indicate their origins, although this can be removed through common tools.
Apple’s highly anticipated image generation tools, Image Playgrounds and Genmoji, are still not available in the iOS 18.1 beta. This means the rollout of these features has been pushed to a later release around the end of the year.
Craig Federighi’s Discussed PCC Servers of Apple Intelligence
In the same WIRED interview, Federighi also revealed why the company has kept Apple Intelligence servers “really basic.”
Apple follows a three-stage hierarchy for Apple Intelligence features:
Maximum processing on-device, no data to servers
For external processing power, Apple’s servers preferred
When Apple Servers can’t help, seek users permission to use ChatGPT
Federighi said that Apple uses basic servers that lack traditional hard drives or SSDs for Apple Intelligence intentionally. This is done to ensure that no processed data is stored long-term.

“PCC servers are as bare-bones as possible. For example, they don’t include “persistent storage,” meaning that they don’t have a hard drive that can keep processed data long-term,” Federighi clarifies.
He further added, “They do incorporate Apple’s dedicated hardware encryption key manager known as the Secure Enclave, and randomize each file system’s encryption key at every boot up as well. This means that once a PCC server is rebooted, no data is retained and, as an additional precaution, the entire system volume is cryptographically unrecoverable. At that point, all the server can do is start fresh with a new encryption key.”
Meanwhile, Apple’s E2E encryption rolling out posed a problem for PCC servers. Federighi also addressed the reports.
“What was really unique about the problem of doing large language model inference in the cloud was that the data had to at some level be readable by the server so it could perform the inference. And yet, we needed to make sure that that processing was hermetically sealed inside of a privacy bubble with your phone,” Federighi says.
“So we had to do something new there. The end-to-end encryption technique—where the server knows nothing—wasn’t possible here, so we had to devise another solution to achieve a similar level of security,” Federighi was quoted in the 9to5Mac report.
Federighi also revealed the five safeguards it applies to the servers including the “extraordinary step” of verifiable transparency. This simply means anyone can check that the system works as the company claims.
Install iOS 18.1 Developer Beta to use Apple Intelligence on iPhone 16 model Image source – Phone Arena
Federighi further elaborated this, “Apple is making every production PCC server build publicly available for inspection so people unaffiliated with Apple can verify that PCC is doing (and not doing) what the company claims and that everything is implemented correctly.
All of the PCC server images are recorded in a cryptographic attestation log, essentially an indelible record of signed claims, and each entry includes a URL for where to download that individual build. PCC is designed so Apple can’t put a server into production without logging it.
And in addition to offering transparency, the system works as a crucial enforcement mechanism to prevent bad actors from setting up rogue PCC nodes and diverting traffic. If a server build hasn’t been logged, iPhones will not send Apple Intelligence queries or data to it.”
According to Apple, this verifiable transparency is unprecedented for a cloud company.
“Creating the trust model where your device will refuse to issue a request to a server unless the signature of all the software the server is running has been published to a transparency log was certainly one of the most unique elements of the solution—and totally critical to the trust model.”

How does Craig’s dog image appear?
Craig’s dog image appears to have been generated using the animation style, which are seemingly meant to look like Pixar-esque CGI models.
It’s difficult to say how the AI creation looks like Craig’s dog, named Bailey, as we don’t have a photo of her to compare it with.
In the AI image, Bailey is seen in front of a cake and wearing a party hat.
Federighi created the image for his wife to celebrate Bailey’s recent birthday.

Netflix will stop supporting its app on older Apple devices that can’t run iOS 17.
Devices that can’t update to iOS 18 or iPadOS 18, like iPad Pro 2 and iPad 6, may also lose Netflix support.
Users can still watch Netflix via Safari or use the current app version without updates
Netflix App Ending Support for iOS 16, Need iPhone XS or Later (Photo by Grant Davies on Unsplash)
The trend of popular apps stopping support for older OS versions is nothing new and has been happening for a while. It is also one of the reasons that motivate users to a device upgrade. While the iOS 18 release is just around the corner, it is that time of the year when older devices start losing access to popular apps. This time, we have Netflix taking the lead.
According to the latest Macrumous report, Netflix will soon stop supporting its app on older Apple devices that can’t run iOS 17.
MacRumors‘ contributor Aaron Perris discloses in his report that code strings on the latest iOS update for the Netflix app reveal that the popular streaming service is about to end support for iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 devices.
The iPhone and iPad models that are set to lose support for the Netflix app are as follows:
iPhone 8
iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone X
iPad Pro (1st generation)
iPad (5th generation)
As these devices are no longer supported by Apple’s latest iOS updates, the Netflix app will no longer work on them in future versions.
Moreover, iPadOS 18 will also leave out a few other iPads like the iPad Pro 2 and iPad 6. So, chances are Netflix will also stop working on these devices in the future.
Apple typically provides around five years of iOS updates, but older devices may start to lose app compatibility as they age.
Netflix will soon stop working on these 5 Apple devices
This previously happened just like the iPhone 8 and iPhone X are now.
These models, which are nearing eight years old, won’t be able to update the Netflix app and may miss out on new features.
However, users can still watch Netflix via Safari or continue using the current app version without updates.
Tech experts usually believe this to be a well-planned device obsolescence, but phones older than seven or eight years facing compatibility issues seem natural.

These are presumably aimed at expanding the platform’s advertising capabilities and user engagement.
