Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge – Key Features

image

The Galaxy S25 Edge is different from the older Samsung “Edge” models. As rumours before the launch have already revealed, it is a fresh take on slim smartphone design. It’s part of the flagship S25 series, but in an incredibly thin body that measures just 5.8mm. That’s about 30% thinner than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, making it the slimmest Galaxy S phone ever.

Now, the battery is smaller than usual because of the thin design. You get just 3,900mAh, which is even less than the base Galaxy S25, which has a smaller screen. Charging is limited to 25W wired, which is slower than the 45W you get with the S25+ and Ultra.

There’s also wireless charging, and Samsung says you can get up to 55% charge in around 30 minutes with a compatible adapter (not included in the box).

Other than that, you get a 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip (full 8-core version), along with 12GB of RAM and your choice of 256GB or 512GB storage.

In the camera department, there are three sensors in total i.e. a massive 200MP main sensor (same as the S25 Ultra), a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 12MP front camera for selfies. However, it skips a telephoto lens.

The frame is made from titanium, the back uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and the front is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The phone also comes with IP68 water and dust resistance.

One standout detail is that it weighs just 163 grams, making it 25% lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra and only slightly heavier than the base Galaxy S25.

The software the phone comes with is Android 15 with One UI 7. You also get all the latest Galaxy AI features like Drawing Assist and Audio Eraser along with the usual AI tricks from Google.

Apple May Raise iPhone 17 Prices, But Won’t Reveal It’s Because of Tariffs: Report

0

Highlights

  • Apple may raise iPhone 17 prices but won’t officially attribute the increase to U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods.
  • Instead, Apple plans to highlight new features and design changes to justify the higher cost.
  • Tariffs are impacting Apple’s costs with CEO Tim Cook noting a potential $900 million impact this quarter.

image

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 series around September this year. While there were rumours of a shakeup in the launch timeline, that’s not happening just yet. However, what might change instead is the price. Yes, it looks like Apple could be gearing up to raise prices across the iPhone 17 lineup.

During the company’s recent earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said that the impact of tariffs could cost Apple about $900 million this quarter. But when asked if that means higher iPhone 17 prices, he chose not to comment.

Now, a new report from The Wall Street Journal says Apple is looking at a price increase for its next iPhone lineup, which means the upcoming iPhone 17 models. Interestingly, Apple reportedly doesn’t want to link the price hike to U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods, even though those tariffs are a major factor. Instead, the company seems to be counting on new features and design changes to make the higher prices seem worth it.

The report explains, “Apple is weighing price increases for its fall iPhone lineup, a step it is seeking to couple with new features and design changes, according to people familiar with the matter […] The people familiar with the supply chain said Apple would have trouble making up for China tariff costs solely by seeking further savings from its suppliers, meaning a hit to its profit margin was likely unless it could raise prices.”

On Apple not revealing the real reason behind the price hike, the report reads, “The company is determined to avoid any scenario in which it appears to attribute price increases to U.S. tariffs on goods from China, where most Apple devices are assembled, the people said.”

The 20% tariff on all Chinese goods introduced by the Trump administration is still in effect. This is separate from another set of tariffs that recently shot up to as high as 125% but were temporarily reduced to 10%. That said, smartphones were never included in those extra tariffs.

Apple, like many other companies, has been trying to move its manufacturing out of China to reduce its exposure to these tariffs. India is one of the next big bets for Apple’s production needs, but its infrastructure and tech capabilities aren’t yet ready to handle large-scale iPhone production. So for now, China will continue making the most of the high-end Pro and Pro Max models.

Meanwhile, Android Authority points out that if Apple raises iPhone 17 prices, Android phone makers might follow suit. With their own rising production costs and tariff challenges, Android brands could use Apple’s price move as an opportunity to bump up their own prices while staying competitive. This could lead to a general increase in smartphone prices overall, as most brands are unlikely to absorb all these extra costs themselves.

In short, if Apple raises prices, expect others to follow and that’s not great news for smartphone buyers.

FAQs

Q1. Will Apple raise iPhone 17 prices?

Answer. Apple is reportedly considering a price increase for the iPhone 17 series, but it does not want to link the hike to U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods. Instead, the company is expected to highlight new features and design changes to justify the higher cost.

Q2. How are U.S. tariffs affecting Apple costs?

Answer. The impact of tariffs could cost Apple about $900 million this quarter. Apple has struggled to offset these costs through supplier savings, making a price hike more likely. The company is also working to move its manufacturing out of China, but for now, China remains its primary production hub for high-end models.

Q3. Could other smartphone brands raise prices too with iPhone prices?

Answer. Yes. If Apple increases iPhone 17 prices, Android phone makers may follow suit. Rising production costs and tariff challenges could push them to adjust their own pricing, leading to an overall increase in smartphone prices.

While it is still months away, it appears we have a new update on the next OnePlus flagship smartphone. A new leak has given us an early look at what could be the OnePlus 15, and it seems the brand is planning some noticeable design changes for its next flagship.

According to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, a new prototype SM8850 powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is currently being tested internally. While the phone isn’t directly named, it’s widely believed to be the upcoming OnePlus 15. Here’s what we know about the device.

Tipster DCS suggests that the SM8850 device will feature a 6.78-inch flat LTPO display with 1.5K resolution, a shift away from the curved 2K screen seen on the OnePlus 13. This new flat design reportedly uses a large-radius corner layout, which gives it a look that’s quite similar to the iPhone’s front design.

It’s also said to use LIPO packaging technology, which could help achieve ultra-slim bezels and better symmetry across the front. The goal here seems to be a cleaner, edge-to-edge screen that feels more minimal and lightweight, much like recent iPhones.

On the performance side, the phone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip. Camera-wise, the OnePlus 15 might come with a 50MP triple rear camera setup and previous reports have hinted at a 200MP periscope telephoto sensor for impressive zoom capabilities.

The leak also mentions that the phone will continue with a simple and lightweight design.

While there aren’t many other details yet, it’s believed the phone could be backed by a 6,500mAh+ battery, which would be a major boost for battery life.

OnePlus 13T Outlasts iPhone 16 Pro Max, S25 Ultra and More Flagships In A Latest Battery Test

0

Highlights

  • YouTube channel TechDroider posted a Battery Drain Test with popular compact flagship devices.
  • The OnePlus 13T’s 6,260mAh silicon-carbon battery outlasted flagship rivals in a recent battery test.
  • The OnePlus 13T lasted 32 minutes longer than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, beating phones like Galaxy S25 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL.

Some of the most popular compact flagship smartphones are solving one of their biggest problems, which has been their struggle with the low battery life. The new high-density silicon-carbon (Si/C) batteries are helping these smartphones to pack over 6,000mAh of battery capacity. A recent example is the OnePlus 13T, which features a massive 6,260mAh battery.

OnePlus 13T will launch in India soon as the OnePlus 13s. However, before the India launch, the phone was recently put to the test against a lineup of premium phones including the Xiaomi 15 Pro, Galaxy S25 Ultra, iPhone 16 Pro Max, Pixel 9 Pro XL and the OnePlus 13.

Tech-oriented YouTube channel TechDroider recently posted a detailed Battery Drain Test using some of the popular compact flagship devices.

Below are the phones in the test and their battery capacities –

OnePlus 13T – 6,260mAh

OnePlus 13 – 6,000mAh

Xiaomi 15 Pro – 6,100mAh

Pixel 9 Pro XL – 5,060mAh

Galaxy S25 Ultra – 5,000mAh

iPhone 16 Pro Max – 4,685mAh

Despite the different chipsets, four of the six phones in the test use the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the Pixel and iPhone use the Tensor G4 and A18 Pro, respectively. Meanwhile, the varying screen sizes and resolutions, the test still gives a solid picture of real-world battery life.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL had the lowest battery percentage throughout the test and also ran the hottest. It was the first to power off. Next came the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which shut down just 14 minutes before the OnePlus 13. Surprisingly, even though Samsung reused much of its hardware from the previous Ultra, the software optimisation clearly helped it stay competitive.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro held on a bit longer than the Galaxy, lasting 19 minutes more, but it still powered off 6 minutes before the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple’s iPhones are known for squeezing out great battery life thanks to their A-series chips and software tuning, and that held true again.

But the real surprise was the compact OnePlus 13T. It kept running for another 32 minutes after the iPhone had already died, an impressive performance that highlights just how far battery tech has come in compact devices.

If this trend continues, we could be looking at a major leap in battery life across more phones in the near future, especially from Chinese brands that seem serious about optimising both hardware and software.

FAQs

Q1. How does the OnePlus 13T compare to other flagship phones in battery life?

Answer. The OnePlus 13T lasted 32 minutes longer than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, outperforming Galaxy S25 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and OnePlus 13 in a battery drain test.

Q2. What battery capacity does the OnePlus 13T have?

Answer. The OnePlus 13T features a massive 6,260mAh silicon-carbon battery, addressing compact smartphones’ biggest issue, battery life.

Q3. What does this test suggest about future smartphone batteries?

Answer. With Chinese brands optimising both hardware and software, this test indicates a major leap in battery life for compact flagship devices in the near future.

Sharing a comparison, the leaker wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “I made a table to compare the body sizes of Samsung Fold6, Fold SE, and Fold7.”

For starters, the leak includes a size comparison between the new Fold 7 and its predecessor. When opened, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measured 153.5 x 132.6mm. In comparison, the Fold 7 will be slightly taller and wider at 158.4 x 143.1mm. That also makes it a bit bigger than last year’s Galaxy Z Fold SE, which came in at 157.9 x 142.6mm.

What really stands out is how much thinner the Fold 7 is. Its thickness when open drops from 5.6mm on the Fold 6 to just 3.9mm, which is a major improvement. That’s even slimmer than the Fold SE, which had a 4.9mm profile.

In another post, Ice Universe shared that the bezels around the inner display will also be much thinner. While the Galaxy Z Fold 6 had 1.9mm bezels, the Fold 7 will reduce that to around 1mm. The upcoming Flip 7 is also expected to drop its bezels to just 1.2mm. This is a big step forward for foldables, which have often had chunkier bezels compared to regular smartphones.

Samsung is expected to officially reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in July, so we won’t have to wait long to see all the details.
