Highlights

  • iQOO 16 prototype leak reveals Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, symmetrical dual speakers, advanced haptics and dedicated gaming graphics chip.
  • It is expected to feature 8,500mAh battery, 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, IP68/IP69 ratings, USB 3.2, AR film display layer and OV50Q primary camera.
  • iQOO will reportedly skip iQOO 16 Ultra this year due to rising memory costs.

Fresh details about the upcoming iQOO 16 have surfaced online and revealed several flagship-level features. Tipster Digital Chat Station shared the latest information via a post on Weibo. According to the tipster, an engineering prototype of the smartphone is currently undergoing testing with premium hardware including a large battery, advanced haptics, and a dedicated gaming chip. Here’s what we know so far based on latest DCS post.

According to the latest leak, the engineering sample is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The prototype is reportedly equipped with 1115-series symmetrical dual speakers, which are expected to deliver an enhanced audio experience.

In addition to the speaker setup, the device is said to feature a 0916-series X-axis linear motor for improved haptic feedback. The leak also points to the inclusion of a dedicated graphics chip to enhance gaming performance along with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

The tipster further claims that the smartphone will come with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Other expected features include USB 3.2 connectivity, an AR film layer on the display, and an OV50Q image sensor as the primary rear camera.

Notably, latest Weibo post does not mention the iQOO 16 by name but the hardware details and the ongoing discussion strongly indicate that the leaked device is the upcoming flagship. The information also aligns with earlier leaks that pointed to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, a 2K flat display, and flagship-grade symmetrical dual speakers.

iQOO 16 Battery Details Tipped

The Weibo discussion also revealed more information about the upcoming smartphone. The tipster responded to a comment on iQOO 16’s squarish, quadrangular camera module but did not provide a clear confirmation. However, the tipster appeared to more or less confirm that the handset will pack a massive 8,500mAh battery.

A previous report from last month also suggested that the smartphone would feature the same battery capacity along with a flagship-grade speaker system. That leak further claimed the device would sport a 2K flat display using a new customised panel material and offer an ultra-high refresh rate aimed at improving gaming and multimedia performance.

Meanwhile, a separate leak suggested that iQOO may skip the iQOO 16 Ultra this generation due to rising memory cost making the standard iQOO 16 the primary model in the lineup.

  • Leak suggests Xiaomi may debut the Redmi K100 Pro series before the standard K100.
  • Standard K100 tipped with a 6.59-inch display, while Pro Max may feature a 6.9-inch 185Hz screen, Snapdragon 8-series chip, up to 9,000mAh battery, and HyperOS.
  • Two Redmi phones are certified with 100W fast charging, while Pro Max expected to include dual speakers.

Xiaomi may be preparing a different launch strategy for its next-generation Redmi K100 series. A fresh leak suggests the company could unveil the Redmi K100 Pro lineup before introducing the standard Redmi K100. If true, this would mark a shift from earlier reports that claimed the base model would arrive first. The latest information comes from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, who also points to recent certification activity as an indication that Redmi may have revised its rollout plans. Here’s more on what we know.

Redmi K100 Pro Series Tipped to Launch First

According to the tipster, Xiaomi has reportedly changed the launch order for the Redmi K100 family. Instead of debuting the standard Redmi K100 first, the company is now expected to introduce the Redmi K100 Pro series ahead of the vanilla model.

One reason behind this speculation is that the standard Redmi K100 has not yet appeared on the required certification platforms unlike other upcoming Redmi smartphones. This has led to reports that Xiaomi may have adjusted its product roadmap before launch.

Display, Chipset and Battery Details Leaked

The Redmi K100 series is expected to continue Xiaomi’s strategy of offering two differently sized flagship smartphones. As per current leaks, the standard Redmi K100 could feature a 6.59-inch display, while the Redmi K100 Pro Max is tipped to sport a larger 6.9-inch screen. The Pro Max model is also expected to support a refresh rate of up to 185Hz.

Both smartphones are rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon 8-series processor and could pack batteries with capacities of up to 9,000mAh. The devices are also expected to ship with Xiaomi’s next-generation HyperOS software out of the box.

Two Redmi Phones Receive 3C Certification

Meanwhile, two new Redmi smartphones have recently been certified by China’s 3C authority. One of the devices carries the model number M098FF, while the other bears the model number M511CD.

According to the certification listings, both smartphones support 100W fast charging using Xiaomi’s MDY-18-EW charging adapter. The two devices have also reportedly received approval from China’s MIIT certification authority.

However, based on Digital Chat Station’s latest claims, neither of these certified models is believed to be the standard Redmi K100.

Although the identities of the two newly certified Redmi smartphones have not been officially confirmed, one of them is expected to be the Redmi K100 Pro Max.

The Pro Max variant is also tipped to feature a symmetrical dual-speaker system with Xiaomi reportedly focusing on delivering an improved audio experience for gaming and multimedia.

While Xiaomi has not officially announced the Redmi K100 series, the latest leaks suggest the company may introduce its Pro models first with the standard Redmi K100 expected to follow at a later stage.

More details are likely to emerge as additional certifications and official teasers begin to appear.
