OpenAI Expands ChatGPT’s Shared Projects Feature to All Users, Debuts ‘Company Knowledge’ in ChatGPT

0

Highlights

  • OpenAI has expanded its collaborative Shared Projects feature to Free, Plus, and Pro users.
  • This GPT-5-powered feature integrates ChatGPT with tools like Slack, Google Drive, and GitHub to search, analyse, and act across platforms.
  • OpenAI has acquired Software Applications Inc. to enhance AI-driven macOS interfaces.

OpenAI has officially rolled out its Shared Projects feature to all ChatGPT users including those on the Free, Plus, and Pro plans. This powerful addition enhances collaboration by allowing multiple users to work together within the same ChatGPT project. This will streamline teamwork, file sharing, and contextual continuity.

Projects in ChatGPT let users organise related conversations, files, and instructions in one centralised space. This eliminates the need to repeatedly explain background details to ChatGPT, ensuring smoother and faster workflows. The Shared Projects feature now builds upon this by enabling team collaboration in real time, making it ideal for professional and creative projects.

How ChatGPT’s Shared Projects Feature Works?

When creating a Shared Project, the project owner can invite collaborators either via email or a direct link. OpenAI offers two access levels for team members –

  • Chat access – Allows users to view and participate in the project’s conversations, files, and instructions.
  • Edit access – In addition to chat privileges, these users can update instructions, add or remove files, and invite additional team members.

Each Shared Project includes its own private memory, allowing ChatGPT to remember information shared by team members. This means participants won’t have to repeat context or details in future interactions. It’s particularly useful for long-term or multi-phase projects, ensuring consistency and efficiency across sessions.

Private memory also ensures data privacy and security as sensitive or client-specific details remain contained within the project. This makes Shared Projects an invaluable tool for business teams, agencies, researchers, and content creators who want to save time and maintain accuracy in collaborative work.

Company Knowledge Unveiled

OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap also revealed more about another major upgrade called Company Knowledge. It is designed to make ChatGPT even more useful in professional environments.

He described it as a way to eliminate “the work around work,” referring to the time spent switching between apps, searching for data, or combining tools to complete tasks.

Company Knowledge integrates ChatGPT with popular workplace tools such as Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, and GitHub. This allows users to search across platforms, answer questions, conduct analyses, and even perform actions directly within ChatGPT. The feature is powered by a specialised GPT-5 model optimised for workplace productivity, complete with citations for its responses.

Lightcap highlighted how transformative the feature has been in his own workflow, writing that it has “changed how I use ChatGPT at work.” He added, “It can reason across tools to get answers, do analysis, and take action,” calling Company Knowledge “the most impactful thing we’ve built so far” for professional users.

OpenAI Expands Its AI Ecosystem

In related news, OpenAI has acquired Software Applications Inc., a startup known for developing AI-powered user interfaces for macOS. The acquisition is part of OpenAI’s broader plan to enhance how artificial intelligence performs on-device tasks, further deepening its integration into everyday workflows.

FAQs

Q1. What is the Shared Projects feature in ChatGPT?

Answer. Shared Projects let multiple users collaborate in real time within a single ChatGPT workspace, organising chats, files, and instructions with private memory for contextual continuity.

Q2. Who can access Shared Projects in ChatGPT?

Answer. The feature is now available to all ChatGPT users including Free, Plus, and Pro plans, allowing anyone to invite collaborators via email or link with chat or edit access.

Q3. What is Company Knowledge and how does it work?

Answer. Company Knowledge integrates ChatGPT with tools like Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive, and GitHub, enabling users to search, analyse, and take action across platforms using a GPT-5 model.

Sharing Stories on Instagram has always been about expressing moments and moods.

With Meta AI integration, users can now take their creativity to the next level by restyling photos and videos with ease. Whether you want to erase background clutter, change aesthetics, or add effects, the new tool makes it effortless to personalise every Story.

How to Write Great Prompts?

Meta AI responds best to specific and detailed prompts. The clearer your description, the more accurate the AI’s result will be. According to Instagram, here are some things to consider while writing prompts –

  • Subject (like “add a crown on top of the girl’s head”)
  • Lighting and mood (like “add dramatic lighting”, “have light from just a single paparazzi flash”)
  • Composition needs (like “in the bottom left corner”, “in the background”)
  • Style (like “make photorealistic”, “film noir style”)
  • Location (“in outer space”, “in Paris”)

Start or Join Trends Using the “Add Yours” Sticker

image

To encourage community interaction, Instagram has integrated the Add Yours sticker into Restyle. By adding this sticker before posting your Story, friends can easily use your same AI edits.

Likewise, if you see a Story that includes an Add Yours sticker, you can tap it, select a photo from your camera roll, and apply the same restyle to your own content, making it easy to start or join viral trends.

Instagram explains, “Using Add Yours stickers will make it easy for friends to use the same edits you made. You can get inspiration from your friends or start your very own viral trend! If you want others to be able to make the same edits, apply an Add Yours sticker, which you can access by swiping up on your restyled image before sharing to your story.”

YouTube Rolls Out ‘Shorts Screen Time Limit’ Feature to Help Users Take Breaks

0

Highlights

  • YouTube has introduced a reminder system to help users take breaks after extended Shorts viewing, similar to Instagram’s Reels alerts.
  • The feature will be enabled by default for teens aged 13–17 and adults can manually activate it via the YouTube mobile app’s settings.
  • YouTube plans to expand the feature with non-dismissible reminders for kids, giving parents more control over screen time management.

YouTube has started rolling out a new feature designed to help users manage their screen time while watching Shorts. The update functions much like Instagram’s reminder for Reels, encouraging users to take regular breaks after extended viewing sessions.

When users reach their daily YouTube Shorts limit, YouTube will display a message stating that the Shorts feed is paused. However, viewers can dismiss the alert and continue watching if they prefer. The intention behind the feature is to promote healthier screen habits rather than enforce strict limits.

According to YouTube’s support page, this screen time reminder will be enabled by default for users aged 13 to 17, while it will remain off by default for adults aged 18 and above. The feature is currently available only through the YouTube mobile app with no web version at the moment.

For those who want to turn it on manually, the process is simple.

image image image

You can simply open the YouTube app → Tap your profile picture → Go to Settings → General → Remind me to take a break, and switch it on. You can then select how frequently you want to receive reminders. The same option is also accessible under the “Time watched” section in your profile. When the reminder appears, users can either continue watching or adjust the reminder frequency.

It’s important to note that the timer resets if you close the app, sign out, switch devices, or pause a video for more than 30 minutes. The timer also doesn’t run while watching offline videos or when casting content from your phone.

YouTube also revealed plans to expand this feature later this year through parental controls, enabling parents to better manage their children’s screen time. In the parental version, the break reminders will be non-dismissible, ensuring that kids actually take a pause before continuing.

The screen time limit feature is available in the YouTube app version 13.17 or later.

FAQs

Q1. What is YouTube’s Shorts screen time limit feature?

Q2. Who gets the screen time limit enabled by default?

Answer. The feature is enabled by default for users aged 13–17. Adults aged 18 and above can manually turn it on via the YouTube mobile app settings.

Q3. Can users dismiss the break reminder and keep watching?

Answer. Yes, users can choose to dismiss the alert and continue watching. The feature is designed to encourage breaks, not enforce strict viewing limits.
