Quick commerce company Blinkit has introduced a 10-minute Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance service in Gurugram. The service recently announced currently operates with five ambulances equipped with essential life-saving tools like oxygen cylinders and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).

Each ambulance also has a trained paramedic, an assistant and a driver to provide prompt medical care.

Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting the company’s goal to address the challenge of reliable and fast ambulance services in Indian cities.

“Congratulations Albi ! Very well thought-out use case. Expecting it to become fully commercially successful and solve the ambulance issue in many more cities,” Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma said.

“Finally, the most critical 10-min delivery we absolutely needed. An ambulance. Super work Albinder,” wrote Snapdeal co-founder Kunal Bahl.

Users will soon be able to book a BLS ambulance directly through the Blinkit app. The ambulances are equipped with critical medical supplies including oxygen cylinders, stretchers, monitors, suction machines and emergency medicines.

Dhindsa clarified that the initiative is not profit-driven but is aimed at solving a critical healthcare problem. The service will be offered at an affordable cost to ensure accessibility for all.

Blinkit has been broadening its service offerings in recent months. In 2024, it gained attention for delivering products like the iPhone 16, Samsung Galaxy S24, PlayStation 5 and gold and silver coins in just 10 minutes.
