With speculations and leaks doing the rounds for weeks now, Xiaomi is finally all set to launch its flagship series in two models. Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, both variants will have more than one official teaser released before the official launch. The teasers are believed to throw more light on what exactly should be expected of these two smartphones. As for the last teaser that Xiaomi released, it was revealed that both Xiaomi 13 and Pro variants have been designed and developed using new nano skin technology. Let’s find out more about the technology and what to expect from the upcoming launch.

Xiaomi 13 and Pro variants are moving a notch higher in the design department as the new elements promise exceptional upgrades. As per Xiaomi, the new nano skin technology provides a great finish to the smartphone body. It will offer the top leather feel, better anti wear, long lasting anti discolouration feature and anti dirty features.

Furthermore, the official poster of both devices released by the brand as a part of the promotional campaign along with the first teasers also highlights that the nano skin technology provides anti-ultraviolet, anti-yellow edge, anti-erosion and anti-fouling qualities to the body surface of the smartphone.

Previously, there have been many reports and tech bloggers writing about the rumoured key specifications of both variants of the upcoming Xiaomi series. As per one such report circulating online some time back, the new series of smartphones will be available in four colours – black, green, white and pink. It was also suggested that the green and pink colour variants of Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will be available in plain leather versions.

Interestingly, the tech community has also highlighted some contradictory reports that speculated this smartphone series might be launched in as many as 10 colour options.

Xiaomi 13 Pro

Apart from the design being one of the highlights of the upcoming Xiaomi series, it is believed that both smartphone variants will most likely have their software updated to the latest MIUI 14. The flagship devices, further, will have the waterproof capacity of IP68 standards.

Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi, have already expressed his confidence in the IP68 standards for the flagship and called it the “king thing” of both smartphone variants and a feature that isn’t common for the market segment. Jun’s claim is corroborated by the available data as it turns out the IP68 is the highest level of waterproof and dustproof standards.

The official launch date of the upcoming Xiaomi series has been confirmed by the brand. It turns out that Xiaomi will host a new product launch conference on December 1 i.e Thursday at 7:00 pm country time. The event will mark the occasion of the official unveiling of both Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. Both series variants are already up for reservation on some of the popular websites and the company will be accepting pre-booking orders till the official launch. As for the price, surprisingly no official word has come out from Xiaomi as of yet.

FIFA 2022

Introduction

It appears that Cristiano Ronaldo did not touch the ball and score the goal for his opener in Portugal’s win over Uruguay, which has raised many eyebrows, especially Ronaldo fans but the facts seem to point that way.

Highlights

  • Adidas has come up with an interesting match ball that is technologically advanced enough to tell that the Portuguese forward did not even touch it
  • As a result of which, Ronaldo did NOT score the goal that granted victory to his team
  • The technology in question has been termed as the Connected Ball Technology by Adidas that has confirmed it.

Adidas Connected Ball Technology Turns the Tables in FIFA 2022

FIFA World Cup 2022 will most likely become the most popular sporting event of this year and it has already acquired a cult status of sorts. The event is being hosted by Qatar, where thousands of football fans are flocking in large numbers to watch their favourite teams play.

While fan wars are part and parcel of such a huge event, there has been an interesting event that took place in the Portugal-Uruguay match that has raised many an eyebrow, whilst simultaneously impressing football fans completely.

Cristiano Ronaldo had scored a goal during his opener as the centre forward for his team that took Portugal to a 2-0 win over Uruguay but now there is news surfacing that he did NOT score the goal because he didn’t even touch the ball.

Adidas used an innovative technology in the match ball called Connected Ball Technology that confirmed that Ronaldo’s head did not even come in contact with the ball during the match to score the opening goal.

FIFA 2022

The technology is one that measures the ‘heartbeat’ of players but here there was no external force on the ball that could be measured, due to which there was no ‘heartbeat’ in measurements and in the attached graphic because there is a sensor of 500Hz IMU inside the ball that allows high level accuracy in analysis.

Ronaldo’s match scoring goal was then awarded to Bruno Fernandes as the former’s alleged goal for his team in the 54th minute of the match was dismissed over Fernandes’ cross in the box that beat Sergio Richet in goal.

Conclusion

Once the photos were shared by ESPN, it was confirmed that Ronaldo’s head did not come in contact with the ball at all, which is why Fernandes was awarded the points, although both players did not know at the time as to whose goal it was.

Google to Pay $9.4 Million as Civil Fine for Fake Pixel 4 Ads

Google to pay $9.4 million
GOOGLE

Introduction

Google is in a royal mess as of late because it has used the largest radio station in the US called iHeartMedia for promoting fake ads for its device Google Pixel 4, while several other radio influencers too have been paid heavily by the tech giant for doing the same.

Highlights

  • Google has got itself into a financial soup as it has used radio influencers for promoting Google Pixel 4 ads that are highly misleading
  • iHeartMedia too has taken a huge sum from Google for promoting these fake ads in large numbers
  • A lawsuit has been filed in Alameda county that iHeartMedia has never used a Pixel 4 model to promote it.

Google Lands in Financial Mess for Misleading Ads

Google is a tech giant that is difficult to match up to and it has maintained its top position for many decades now by coming out with many excellent devices in the past few years and catering to the users’ needs through them.

Whenever it comes out with a new electronic device, the whole world sits up and takes notice because everyone knows that Google is bound to come out with something different every time in terms of features.

Tech giants like Google have to create aggressive advertisement campaigns so as to promote its device far and wide so that it reaches as many people as possible, with radio too being one of them.

iHeartMedia is the largest radio station in the United States whom Google has paid a handsome amount to promote and recommend the Google Pixel 4 series, which also includes some extremely prominent radio influencers with a massive following among the youth.

While promoting your device is no crime, the problem here is that while iHeartMedia radio DJs Network spoke extensively about their love for taking pictures of meteor showers and animals on the brand new Pixel 4 smartphone, none of them have ever owned or used it.

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and seven US states have got an agreement with both iHeartMedia and Google on claims of fraudulently advertising Pixel 4 smartphone, where the allegations were that the tech giant paid handsomely to radio hosts for promoting it and share their personal experiences on air.

Google to pay $9.4 million

This would encourage listeners to go for the handset in large numbers that will massively increase its sales. Apparently, the promotional ads were shown more than 23,000 times in nearly ten media markets, including San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Another lawsuit filed in Alameda County has claimed that iHeartMedia never got any smartphone from Google so they had no right to promote the device without even using it, while FTC found out that Google had delivered five devices, not one user had a Pixel 4 to test out and use for radio commercials.

Conclusion

As penalty, Google has to pay $9.4 million in civil fines alongside iHeartIndia to resolve the lawsuit, which includes miscellaneous expenses, fees, and an extra $1.58 million for New York State.

WhatsApp Comes Up with New Messaging Feature

New Messaging Feature
WhatsApp

Introduction

WhatsApp always caters to the needs of its users, which is why it continuously upgrades its platform with new features. It has come out with a new messaging feature called Message Yourself that is quite a unique one.

Also Read: How to See Deleted Messages on WhatsApp

Highlights

  • WhatsApp coming up with new features is no surprise but this new messaging feature is something different
  • It is an end-to-end encrypted feature where none except the user can see the chats, not even WhatsApp
  • Users will find it quite handy as beta testers are quite impressed with it, which means it will be launched very soon.

WhatsApp New Messaging Feature Introduced

In order to stay relevant in the public eye, a movie star has to continuously change his persona to suit the change of times, a product has to keep upgrading its qualities to enhance its shelf life, and a smartphone application has to keep upgrading to new features to cater to the fickle tastes of the public.

WhatsApp is arguably as well as inarguably the most popular messaging platform we have in this day and age, despite receiving stiff competition from rivals like Telegram and Signal, both formidable messaging apps in themselves that have more than a significant following.

WhatsApp has been in existence for more than a decade but has carefully come out with new features at regular intervals so as to keep the viewers’ interest in it going, which it has done wonderfully.

An application’s new features form the core basis of its existence in public view, which is why WhatsApp continues to stay relevant. The newest addition is the New Messaging Feature where users can continue messaging themselves without the need to create any group or use another WhatsApp account.

New Messaging Feature

This feature was first introduced to the beta version of WhatsApp that many users found useful, due to which it will be available for normal users as well, which they can get access to by upgrading their WhatsApp to the latest version.

Users will be happy to know that it is end-to-end encrypted, which means that they and they alone can see their chats, as not even WhatsApp can be privy to anything, which means that you can use chats to save texts, links, documents, relevant notes, for yourself.

While Notes App is a significant option to do so, WhatsApp has now merged the Message Yourself feature into their application and while Telegram had a similar feature, WhatsApp had begun testing for it in October, whereas Telegram has had it since its release.

Elon Musk’s Delay in Paying Salary for November Sparks Outrage

Twitter accounts suspended
Elon Musk

Introduction

There have been many elaborate changes that Elon Musk has brought on Twitter ever since taking over the platform on October 28, 2022, which means that he has done a lot in the past month.

Highlights

  • Elon Musk has delayed paying November’s salary to his laid off employees, which didn’t bode well with them
  • The payday is 28th of every month but it seems that no laid off employee has been paid until now
  • Some of the European Twitter staff, like Ireland and Netherlands, have been paid on time but not those from UK and Germany.

Elon Musk’s Dilly Dallying on Payday Sparks Employee Ire

From the day Elon Musk took over as the owner of Twitter, he swore to bring in reforming changes so as to instill some sanity in the company, which can be seen in the past month itself as he has laid off thousands of Twitter employees all over the world.

It appears that the Tesla CEO wants to start out with an iron fist from day one itself as his no-nonsense attitude baffled many people, as employees started getting laid off for non-performance or insubordination, while the remaining ones were warned to work harder with ‘high intensity’ or risk similar consequences.

Now things to be getting out of hand as employees are having a tough time and are showing no effort to hide their anger and disappointment. To add insult to injury, some European employees have not even received their salary for November 2022.

Many UK employees received an email on November 25 informing them that they’re due on November 28, which was sent to all employees of the EMEA region, while everyone also receives monthly pay slips, but it appears that Twitter staff from UK and Germany weren’t paid on the 28th.

Delay in paying salary

Twitter immediately sent an email to all its current and former employees that the payments had been made to their Twitter bank accounts, while the non-payment of wages was speculated due to the a delay in interbank settlement, for which there is an ongoing investigation that the employees will be informed of soon.

Many Twitter employees have voiced their displeasure over the wages issue, while some have shared their bank account screenshots as proof as they’re now facing overdraft issues.

There were also many ongoing discussions in Slack groups between the current and former employees where it was suggested that more than 80% of staff had not been paid by around 1pm UK time.

Conclusion

Given the backlash from former employees, it is hoped that the matter will be sorted out soon and everyone who hasn’t been paid will be paid because Elon Musk seems to have trying times ahead the way he is going.

Elon Musk Focuses on Child Safety; Single Staff Member Issue

Elon Musk's Poll
ELON MUSK

Introduction

Elon Musk, ever since taking over Twitter, has vowed to revolutionize the platform by making sweeping changes on the platform, which can be seen in the past month, with the latest one being Child protection as his primary focus.

Also Read: Elon Musk Tweets Photos of Guns and Diet Coke on Bedside Table

Highlights

  • Twitter CEO has decided to make Child Safety a major priority on Twitter as one of his reforming changes with the company
  • The problem is that the Child Sexual Abusive Material (CSAM) is being handled by a single staff member after massive layoffs
  • The issue might become big due to the massive layoffs that Musk has ordered in the past month

Elon Musk’s Priority of Child Safety Under Problem

Elon Musk is a name that everyone is familiar with but one that has been frequently used in the past year or so as the billionaire entrepreneur has engaged in a legal tussle with Twitter as the latter has filed a case against him following his backing out of a deal to purchase the social media giant for $44 billion.

It goes without saying that Twitter has become a cesspool of uncertainties ever since the Tesla CEO took over as the company’s CEO last month on October 28, 2022, where there is little job security while users cannot be sure regarding the launch of the next feature.

As of now, Musk has undertaken a top priority of making Twitter a safe haven for children as he wants to bring, in his own words, some sanity in the company but there is a huge problem that he seems to have overlooked.

child safety

Apparently, after the massive employee layoffs and staff resignations, the one key team that has been tasked with moderating Twitter’s Child Sexual Abusive Material (CSAM) has only one member left as the permanent employee.

Given the situation, it remains a big question mark as to how Elon Musk can hope to protect children when the department tasked with handling it has only one staff member left.

There were four Singaporean employees, as CSAM is based in Singapore, who specialized in child safety that had resigned in November 2022 itself, and the issue is that it is the Singapore team that handles Twitter’s busiest markets, Japan included.

It is the job of Twitter’s child safety experts to review CSAM content with groups like Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), UK, and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), US, providing backend support.

Also Read: Elon Musk Plans to Make Tesla Substitute for Android and iPhone

Conclusion

The experts have to scan and identify images posted and shared on Twitter while the above groups only work with the internal CSAM team as they focus on the final product and have no access to Twitter’s internal data.

Since the team has only one staff member left, Musk cannot claim child safety as a priority as the department is depleted and he can only focus his attention on it when it has a significant number of members.
