Apple Rolls Out New Age Verification Tools and Expands Declared Age Range API Globally

Apple has announced the global rollout of new age-verification tools across its platforms. It  is aimed at helping developers comply with a growing number of child safety regulations worldwide. The update also introduces enhancements to the Declared Age Range API, which is now available in beta testing.

The upgraded API enables apps to identify a user’s age category and receive signals about how age assurance has been verified.

“Today we’re providing an update on the tools available for developers to meet their age assurance obligations under upcoming U.S. and regional laws, including in Brazil, Australia, Singapore, Utah, and Louisiana. Updates to the Declared Age Range API are now available in beta for testing,” said Apple.

Regional Requirements for Age Verification

Under the new rules, beginning February 24, 2026, users in Australia, Brazil, and Singapore will be prevented from downloading apps rated 18+ unless they are verified as adults. In Brazil specifically, developers who indicate through the age rating questionnaire that their app contains loot boxes will see their app’s age rating on the Brazil storefront automatically updated to 18+.

In the United States, similar regulations will apply in select states. The requirements will take effect in Utah starting May 6, 2026, and in Louisiana from July 1, 2026.

Developers operating in these states will be required to use Apple’s APIs to confirm users’ age categories and secure parental consent in certain situations before rolling out significant app updates.

Expanded Developer Toolkit

To support compliance with these evolving laws, Apple has introduced an expanded set of developer tools.

These include the Declared Age Range API for delivering age-related signals and managing parental permissions, the Significant Change API under PermissionKit, a new age rating property type within StoreKit, and App Store Server Notifications designed to help developers track compliance requirements more effectively.

“Developers can use the Declared Age Range API to present significant update notifications to adults in these states through the Significant Update Action, now in beta. When releasing a significant update, developers must follow the Human Interface Guidelines and provide users with a meaningful description of the update,” added Apple.

FAQs

Q1. What has Apple announced regarding age verification?

Answer. Apple has rolled out global age-verification tools and expanded the Declared Age Range API (in beta) to help developers comply with child safety regulations.

Q2. Which regions will require age verification for app downloads?

Answer. Starting Feb 24, 2026, users in Australia, Brazil, and Singapore must verify age before downloading 18+ apps. In the US, rules apply in Utah (May 6, 2026) and Louisiana (July 1, 2026).

Q3. What new Apple tools are available for developers?

Answer. Apple introduced an expanded toolkit including the Declared Age Range API, Significant Change API under PermissionKit, a new StoreKit age rating property, and App Store Server Notifications to support compliance

Apple iPhone Fold Moves Into Production, Crease Depth Tipped at Under 0.15mm

0

Highlights

  • Apple has reportedly moved its foldable iPhone into production as assembly lines receive official orders.
  • The 7.8‑inch inner display is tipped to have a crease depth under 0.15mm and an angle below 2.5.°
  • The phone is expected to adopt a book-style fold with a 7.8‑inch main screen and a 5.5‑inch cover display, dual rear cameras and an embedded selfie camera.

Apple has reportedly placed production line orders for its much-anticipated foldable iPhone. The development was shared on Weibo, claiming that assembly lines have recently received official orders from Apple. If true, this means the device is on track for launch later this year.

iPhone Fold Latest Leak

According to the leak by a Chinese Weibo tipster named “Fixed Focus Digital”, the production process has revealed specific details about the crease performance of the device’s 7.8-inch inner display. The crease depth is said to be controlled at under 0.15 mm.

image

Recent Weibo post about iPhone Fold. (Translated via Google Translate)

Crease depth refers to how deep the visible groove or indentation at the fold appears. A smaller measurement means the fold line is shallower and less noticeable, both visually and when touched.

In addition, the crease angle is reportedly kept below 2.5 degrees. The crease angle measures how sharp the fold line looks when the display is fully unfolded, calculated by the angle formed at the crease area. A lower angle suggests a smoother and flatter transition across the folding section, rather than a pronounced ridge or valley.

iPhone Fold – What Else We Know?

However, Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to feature a new display panel developed by Samsung Electronics that has reportedly never been used in a foldable device before. The panel has been described as being “virtually crease free” and even having “no crease at all.”

Separately, Chinese publication UDN previously reported that Apple had solved “the crease problem” that has affected many foldable smartphones so far. This means that the upcoming foldable iPhone could become the first truly crease-free foldable device on the market.

Reports indicate that the foldable iPhone will include a 7.8-inch primary display when unfolded, along with a 5.5-inch cover display on the outside. The device is expected to adopt a book-style folding design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, rather than a clamshell-style form factor.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that Apple’s first foldable iPhone may feature two rear cameras, a single front-facing camera, and an additional selfie camera embedded within the inner display. The device is also expected to integrate Touch ID into the power button. In terms of dimensions, it could measure just 4.5mm thick when unfolded and between 9mm and 9.5mm when folded shut.

Apple is anticipated to unveil the foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models in September.

FAQs

Q1. Has Apple started production of its foldable iPhone?

Answer. Yes, reports suggest Apple has placed official production line orders, indicating the iPhone Fold is on track for launch later this year.

Q2. What makes the iPhone Fold’s display unique compared to other foldables?

Answer. The 7.8‑inch inner display reportedly has a crease depth under 0.15mm and an angle below 2.5°, with Samsung-developed panels described as “virtually crease-free.”

Q3. What design and features are expected in the iPhone Fold?

Answer. It is tipped to adopt a book-style fold with a 7.8‑inch main screen, 5.5‑inch cover display, dual rear cameras, embedded selfie camera, Touch ID in the power button, and ultra-thin dimensions (4.5mm unfolded, about 9mm folded).

Samsung has officially introduced its latest flagship smartphones under the Samsung Galaxy S series, announcing the all-new Samsung Galaxy S26, Samsung Galaxy S26+ and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. While the overall design language remains familiar from last year’s Samsung Galaxy S25 series, the new generation brings substantial internal upgrades and AI-driven enhancements focused on improving everyday usability.

“We believe AI should be something people can depend on every day, designed to work consistently for everyone and without the need for expertise,” said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer, President, and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “With the Galaxy S26 series, we focused on making AI feel effortless, working quietly in the background so people can focus on what matters.”

Here’s everything you should know about the new Samsung flagship series.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

image

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra leads the lineup with top-tier specifications.

It sports a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, which delivers up to 19% CPU, 39% NPU, and 24% GPU performance improvements compared to its predecessor. A newly redesigned vapour chamber and enhanced thermal interface placement ensure better heat dissipation during gaming, multitasking, and extended video recording sessions.

One of the standout features is the integrated Privacy Display, a hardware-level solution that keeps on-screen content clearly visible to the user while limiting visibility from side angles. Unlike traditional privacy screen protectors, this feature is built directly into the display.

It functions in both portrait and landscape orientations and can automatically activate when entering PINs, passwords, or launching selected apps. The phone also supports Partial Screen Privacy for protecting notification previews and a Maximum Privacy Protection mode for stronger side-angle shielding.

The quad-camera setup includes:

  • 200MP primary wide camera with 2x optical quality zoom
  • 50MP ultra-wide lens
  • 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom (10x optical quality zoom)
  • 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom

For selfies and video calls, there is a 12MP front camera. New features such as Enhanced Nightography Video and an improved Super Steady mode with horizontal lock aim to deliver clearer and more stable footage, even in low light and high-motion environments.

The battery capacity remains at 5,000mAh, but wired charging has been upgraded to 60W with Samsung claiming up to 75% charge in about 30 minutes using a compatible adapter. The device also supports wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare.

image

Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Wi-Fi Direct, and Bluetooth 6.0. The handset retains its IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is available in three memory variants –

  • 12GB + 256GB
  • 12GB + 512GB
  • 16GB + 1TB

Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26+

image

The Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26+ share most of their core specifications with differences mainly in display size and battery capacity.

In most global markets, both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. However, they will be available with the Exynos 2600 variant in India.

Both models include a triple-camera system, which includes –

  • 50MP wide lens with 2x optical quality zoom
  • 12MP ultra-wide
  • 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom
  • 12MP front camera

Storage configurations include 12GB RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB internal storage.

  • Galaxy S26+ packs a slightly larger 4,900mAh battery that supports up to 45W wired charging

The Nothing Phone (4a) series is expected to debut with upgraded hardware and refined aesthetics at the company’s launch event scheduled for the first week of March. Ahead of the launch, Nothing has officially unveiled the Pink colour option for the upcoming Nothing Phone (4a). The new finish expands the lineup beyond the previously teased White variant and introduces a fresh design direction for the brand.

Along with revealing the new colourway, Nothing has also confirmed key design elements, possible chipset and India availability details. Here’s everything we know so far.

Nothing Phone (4a) Pink Colour Variant Revealed

image

This is the first Pink Colour Variant of any Nothing smartphone. (Image credit – Nothing)

The Nothing Phone (4a) will launch in a Pink colour option alongside the White variant. This marks the first time the company has introduced a pink finish across its smartphone portfolio. The UK-based OEM teased the new colour variant via social media posts and a YouTube video. The new colour reflects a more expressive design philosophy inspired by art, fashion, and pop culture.

Discussing the inspiration behind pink, Lucy Birley, Colour Material Finish Design Lead at Nothing, said, “There’s a lot of amazing old tech references that we go back to very often. Pink is actually just desaturated red, and when we put the tint inside the transparency, because of how the light interacts with the resin underneath, you get this incredible sense of depth, which makes our products look really lively, and we do have all of this detail under the transparency, so it’s really nice to celebrate that.”

The device retains Nothing’s signature transparent rear panel and distinctive Glyph lighting interface.
