Just days after making an enhanced version of GPT-4 Turbo available via its API, OpenAI has now rolled out this artificial intelligence model upgrade to its wildly popular ChatGPT chatbot.
From Thursday, all ChatGPT Plus, Team and Enterprise plan subscribers can access the latest iteration of GPT-4 Turbo.
This improved AI is touted as providing better day-to-day performance across writing tasks, math, logical reasoning and coding compared to previous versions.

According to OpenAI’s own benchmark testing, the new 2024 release of GPT-4 Turbo outperforms the January 2024 version on several metrics used to evaluate the proficiency of AI language models.
These include the MMLU test for understanding multi-task language, the MATH dataset for measuring math problem-solving ability, and the GPQA for assessing advanced question-answering skills, as illustrated in OpenAI’s chart.
Beyond just technical improvements, OpenAI states the updated GPT-4 Turbo should generate responses within ChatGPT that sound more natural, direct and conversational when compared to previous iterations.
The company shared an example where the new model gave a much more human-sounding response to a simple prompt about sending an SMS reminder, avoiding overly wordy or unnatural phrasing.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described the latest GPT-4 Turbo as not only “significantly smarter” but also “more pleasant to use” within ChatGPT’s interface.
With this upgrade, ChatGPT subscribers can expect a smarter, more refined AI assistant that delivers improved technical performance across benchmarks while also aiming for a more natural, conversational communication style.
As OpenAI continues iterating on its language models, the regular roll-out of these kinds of updates to ChatGPT could help it maintain an edge over rivals in the competitive AI chatbot market.
Whether writing, answering queries or tackling coding tasks, this enhanced version of GPT-4 Turbo looks to make OpenAI’s flagship chatbot an even more capable personal digital assistant.
The latest GPT-4 Turbo version introduced to ChatGPT boasts significant advancements in AI performance, particularly in writing tasks, mathematical problem-solving, and logical reasoning.
This upgrade ensures that users experience more accurate, efficient, and contextually appropriate responses across various queries and commands.
One of the key improvements in the GPT-4 Turbo update is the ability to generate responses that are more natural and conversational.
This means that the AI can produce dialogue that is more coherent, less formal, and more aligned with everyday human interaction, making the user experience more engaging and pleasant.
OpenAI’s benchmark testing for the GPT-4 Turbo includes the MMLU for multi-task language understanding, the MATH dataset for math problem-solving skills, and the GPQA for advanced question-answering proficiency.
In these tests, the 2024 version of GPT-4 Turbo demonstrated superior performance compared to earlier models, reflecting its improved AI processing abilities.
The GPT-4 Turbo upgrade is currently available to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise plans. Users with these subscriptions can immediately benefit from the enhanced AI model starting from Thursday, following a simple update process within their existing ChatGPT interface.
