I recently got my hands on the Vivo V30e which has just launched today and I think that Vivo is on to something here.
Anticipation runs high with this device as it packs some promising specs and features, especially in the camera department, that could shake up the mid-range segment.
In this review, I will dive deep into everything from its design and display to performance and battery life, to see if this mid-range spec-sheet maestro is a real-life champ as well.

Good Primary Shooter | Low Light Images Could be Better |
Decent Display | Lacks Stereo Speakers |
Premium Design | Not for Heavy-Duty Gamers |
Great Battery Life |
Opening the box of the Vivo V30e reveals the smartphone itself, a 44W fast charger, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, a set of documentation, and a protective case.
Everything you need to get started is neatly packed, providing a straightforward and enjoyable unboxing experience.
Vivo is now one of the only high-end OEMs to provide a complete unboxing experience.
The Vivo V30e boasts a sleek design with a weight of 188 grams and a thin profile of just 7.75 mm.
It comes in Velvet Red and Silk Blue, both of which have a premium feel thanks to the mineral glass back.
I actually have the latter of the two and let me tell you that Vivo’s elegance is unmatched in smartphone design.
The phone feels sturdy and robust in hand, though the splash-proof IP64 rating might leave some wanting more robust water resistance.
Also, I would’ve liked to see some stereo speakers on offer seeing that nearly everyone in the segment has it.
The display is also a standout feature, with a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen offering a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels.
The bezel-less design with a punch-hole display achieves a 90.33% screen-to-body ratio, providing an immersive viewing experience.
However, the brightness under direct sunlight could be better, despite the vibrant colour output and sharpness provided by the 388 ppi density.
Vivo claims of a 1,300nits peak brightness but that perhaps only shows up when viewing HDR content.
Nonetheless, the gentle curves on the sides reduce the presence of bezels and expand the viewing field.
Vivo V30e’s photography capabilities are powered by a dual rear camera setup featuring a 50 MP Sony IMX882 primary wide-angle camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide angle camera.
The images captured are crisp with saturated colours, and the camera performs exceptionally in good lighting conditions, as expected.
The phone also supports Dual Video recording, enhancing content creation flexibility.
There are several modes for users to try but most like me will be casual users opting for the standard point-and-shoot experience.
It’s a good thing that the camera can do that quite effectively.
The 8MP ultra-wide, like any other mid-range offering, is decent when used in plenty of light.
On the downside, low-light performance could improve, and the ultra-wide camera tends to lose some detail at the edges.
I am impressed with the 50 MP front camera that also packs in an autofocus feature, making it great for selfies with good detail and colour accuracy, though some might find the skin smoothing effect a bit aggressive.
The Vivo V30e packs a well-rounded camera experience which has some shortfalls, but nothing to dissuade you from snapping images.
Under the hood, the Vivo V30e is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor and 8 GB of RAM.
This setup handles everyday tasks with ease and supports decent gaming performance.
There’s also 256GB of internal storage that should take care any long-terms usage you have in mind.
However, intensive applications may not run as smoothly, and some may notice minor lags with more demanding games.
That is to be expected, however, given the nature of the chipset.
It doesn’t exactly endear to heavy-duty users but then again that is not the phone’s target demographic.
Benchmarks and throttling tests do not raise any red flags on the handset.
As for the features, of course, 5G is a big part of the handset.
The single bottom-firing speaker doesn’t exactly set high standards although I do like the fingerprint sensor’s fast response.
The Vivo V30e runs on Android v14 with Vivo’s custom Funtouch OS, providing a user-friendly interface with ample customization options.
The software is generally smooth, though occasional bloatware could detract from the experience.
That is to be expected from Chinese OEMs but I think Vivo can be relied upon more than the others for software longevity.
Finally, there is the battery life which is a significant plus, thanks to the 5500 mAh battery supporting 44W fast charging.
It comfortably lasts a full day with moderate to heavy use, and the fast charging can quickly replenish the battery, though some might miss the absence of wireless charging.
The Vivo V30e is a well-crafted mid-range smartphone that right kicks off a premium design with solid performance, particularly shining in its camera capabilities.
With a 6.78-inch AMOLED display and robust battery life supported by 44W fast charging, it caters well to everyday needs and moderate use.
While it excels in many areas typical of a mid-range phone, it slightly falters under heavy application loads and lacks stereo speakers, which are becoming common in this segment.
Nonetheless, I think the Vivo V30e makes itself known as a strong contender for anyone seeking a reliable smartphone with a strong focus on photography and design, offered at a competitive price point.

Luxe design with an ultra-slim 3D curved display
Segment-leading 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS main camera
50MP EYE AF selfie camera
vivo, the innovative global smartphone brand, today launched its newest addition to the V-series lineup in India – the vivo V30e, which is India’s slimmest smartphone with a 5500mAh battery.
The device also features a segment-leading 50MP Sony IMX882 OIS main camera, Studio Quality Aura Light, and 4K video recording capabilities for both front and rear cameras.
The V30e features a refined design aesthetic with an ultra-slim 3D-curved display for an improved in-hand feel.
It is available in two colors, Velvet Red and Silk Blue, enhancing the smartphone’s luxurious design.
Luxe Design with an Ultra-Slim 3D Curve Display
Building on vivo’s design legacy, the vivo V30e offers a great combination of colors, materials, and finish to create a distinct luxurious design for this segment. The striking gem-cut camera module exudes style and sophistication.
The overall design of the phone, which includes a 6.78-inch ultra-slim 3D curved display, a screen-to-body ratio of 93.3%, and a 190-gram weight results in a very light, but secure, in-hand feel. At 7.65 mm, it is the slimmest phone to feature a 5500mAh battery.
The luxury-inspired colors—Velvet Red and Silk Blue—further add to the smartphone’s appeal.
The Portrait Powerhouse
The vivo V30e’s camera module is headlined by a 50MP OIS Sony IMX 882 sensor – making it a portrait powerhouse.
The new sensor’s light sensitivity is improved by 30% over its predecessor. This light sensitivity is further improved with the help of OIS (10,000 stabilization movements per second), further increasing the level of light intake by six times, compared to a camera module without OIS.
Combining this with a 1.6 μm pixel size with 4-in-1 pixel binning – the camera system delivers stunning results during day or night.
To further enhance portraits in low light, the phone features an upgraded Studio Quality Smart Aura Light, which provides a light output area that is nine times larger than a regular smartphone flash.
It can adjust its brightness and color temperature based on the surrounding ambient light varying from 1000 Kelvin to 9000+ Kelvin. This results in great-looking portraits in challenging lighting conditions.
The main camera can also double up as a 50mm prime-focal length portrait lens which deploys a lossless-2x zoom-in.
Additionally, vivo’s proprietary new HD portrait algorithm results in clearer portraits with better texture. With its finely tuned portrait algorithm and natural bokeh effect, the camera is capable of producing portraits that can closely resemble DSLR cameras.
The vivo V30e also houses a 50MP Eye Autofocus Selfie camera that produces poster-quality photographs with details that are sharp and clear.
The ultra-high pixel count ensures the images delivered are crisp even after zooming in. It is also equipped with Eye autofocus and upgraded focusing algorithms, to ensure that your all-important selfies are never out of focus.
It also offers a host of other features including a Color Adaptive Border, which adds another layer of personalization for images, 4k recording in front and rear cameras, Ultra-stable video, and a dedicated Vlog Movie Creator Mode to simplify every stage of vlog production.
Super Smooth Performance and Large Battery Life
vivo V30e comes equipped with the largest battery ever in a V-series product, housing a 5500mAh battery coupled with 44W Flash Charge, delivering a stress-free and dependable battery backup.
vivo’s software and hardware enhancements ensure that the V30e offers double the industry standard battery lifespan, providing a healthy battery for up to four years.
The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon® 6 Gen 1 (4 nm) Processor that offers a seamless multitasking experience.
The 5G chipset will also provide a faster network experience thanks to the 5G network aggregation.
It further gets up to 12GB extended RAM on the back of vivo’s innovative memory management technology, utilizing unused ROM space as extra RAM.
The smartphone runs on Fun Touch OS 14 which combines vivo’s design-driven values with exciting personalization options, advanced privacy features, and enhanced security protection.
The V30e comes with a software promise of 3 generations of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.
Aligned with the government’s Make in India vision, all V30e devices will be manufactured at vivo’s Greater Noida facility, which employs around 10,000 men and women, ensuring all vivo devices sold in India are made by fellow Indians.
