The iOS 18 update is getting all sorts of useful features along with some really cool integrations between iPhone and popular apps. One such feature that Snapchat users will particularly enjoy was recently revealed in a recent Engadget report.

As per the report, iPhone users will be able to access the Snapchat camera from the iPhone Lock Screen after the iOS 18 update.

The new feature will basically allow iPhone users to replace the standard Camera app and flashlight for apps or shortcut actions of their choice.

The feature iOS 18 is introducing is the ability to change the Lock Screen controls

The iPhone Lock Screen currently is limited to the iPhone Camera app and the flashlight.

The usefulness of the Camera app icon has been reduced iPhone users can always access the camera by swiping right-to-left, a method considered much quicker.

As per Engadget, Apps will have to add support for the feature and Snapchat is one of the first apps to do so. “Snapchat users will soon be able to launch the app’s camera directly from the iPhone lock screen, thanks to an app update,” Engadget mentions in the report.

The report further clarified, “Tapping the button will launch Snapchat’s “Camera Only” mode. This will, technically, let you create a Snap, but there’s a major caveat. The lock screen allows users to take photos, but not add filters or post anything. For that, you’ll have to unlock the phone with Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode and open the actual app.”

This feature will be available after the app update scheduled for later this week. So, Snapchat users will have to update their App and iPhone to be able to utilise this unique feature.

That’s actually not all. According to Engadget, iPhones with iOS 18 will also be able to use the iPhone volume buttons to capture a Snap while the Snapchat app is open on the screen.

All you have to do is press any of the volume buttons to take a photo and hold it to start recording a video.

iOS 18 is set to roll out globally later this week.
