The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series may bring in a Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra model, which might be what Samsung has up its sleeve for the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Leaked key specifications of both the standard Galaxy Watch 7 and the Ultra have offered some insights into what these new smartwatches are expected to bring.
According to the report from AndroidHeadlines, the Galaxy Watch Ultra could come with a bigger 47mm case size compared to the standard Watch 7, which will be available in 40mm and 44mm options.
The Ultra variant will likely have a massive 590mAh battery.
The Watch 7 will have a 300mAh battery for its 40mm model and a 425mAh battery for the 44mm model, putting them on par with the battery sizes of the Galaxy Watch 6 models.
Both the Galaxy Watch 7 and its Ultra variant may further benefit from a 3nm Exynos processor that may be more power-efficient and possibly provide more value in terms of performance, as it will come with a 5-core CPU and 32GB storage.
These smartwatches from Samsung may indeed give other brands stiff competition in terms of overall performance and efficiency.
The Watch Ultra may be seen with a Titanium (Grade 4) chassis and sapphire crystal glass display.
There could be three color variants of the Watch Ultra in Titanium Grey, Titanium Silver, and Titanium Beige.
The rest of the specs suggest the Galaxy Watch Ultra has a bigger battery, with a similar brightness and water resistance up to 100 meters, compared to the rumored Apple Watch Ultra 2.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is rumoured to have an aerospace-grade Titanium chassis, often claimed to be Grade 5, which is higher than the rumored Grade 4 Titanium of the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Apart from that, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is also said to have more storage on board compared to the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
In contrast, the regular Watch 7 may only be offered in Green and Cream colour variants.
Regarding display brightness, the Watch 7 is expected to retain the 2,000 nits peak brightness of its predecessor, while the Watch 7 Ultra could reach an impressive 3,000 nits.
Another major difference between the two variants is that the Watch 7 is supposedly available as cellular-only, and the Ultra might even come in a choice of cellular or Bluetooth-only models.
However, both watches are expected to support L1+L5 dual-frequency GPS for accurate location tracking.
Another rumour about the Watch 7 Ultra is that there should be a dedicated Quick Button for quick actions, apart from the Home and Back buttons.
The standard Watch 7 is likely to only sport the Home and Back buttons.
The Watch Ultra’s body is also supposed to be made of Armor Aluminium 2, whereas the standard Watch 7 is also going to have a sapphire crystal glass display.
Both watches could be MIL-STD-810H certified for durability, but the Watch Ultra could offer slightly better water resistance with 10ATM+ IP68 compared to the 5ATM+ IP68 of the Watch 7.
The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra is rumoured to come in a 47mm case size, while the standard Galaxy Watch 7 will have 40mm and 44mm options.
The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra is expected to have a 590mAh battery, whereas the Watch 7 will have a 300mAh battery for the 40mm model and a 425mAh battery for the 44mm model.
The Watch 7 Ultra is expected to have a Titanium (Grade 4) body with sapphire crystal glass for durability and premium feel.
The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra is rumoured to have 10ATM+ IP68 water and dust resistance, which is higher compared to the 5ATM+ IP68 rating of the standard Watch 7.
Yes, the Watch 7 Ultra is expected to feature a dedicated Quick Button in addition to the Home and Back buttons for quick actions.
