Slated for a March release, the Pixel 9a is rumoured to feature a revamped look, ditching the signature camera bar of its predecessors. Pixel 9a – Key Specs and Features (Leaked)

According to the leaked specification sheet in the report from Android Headlines, the following will be the key features of the upcoming Pixel 9a –

Processor & Storage: The Pixel 9a will use the Tensor G4 chip paired with 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB (UFS 3.1). The Titan M2 security chip will also be onboard.
Display: It will feature a 285-inch display (likely marketed as 6.3 inches), protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The screen will offer a peak brightness of 1,700 nits (2,700 nits for HDR content) and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Cameras: The primary camera is a 48MP Samsung GN8 Quad Dual Pixel sensor, accompanied by a 13MP Sony IMX712 ultrawide sensor. The same 13MP sensor will be used for the front-facing camera.
Battery & Charging: The phone will pack a 5,100mAh battery (larger than previously rumoured) with 23W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging. There’s no Qi2 upgrade for wireless charging.
Build & Features: Expect a matte-finish back, IP68 dust and water resistance, and a Goodx G7 optical fingerprint sensor under the display. Additional features include DisplayPort 1.4a support for video output (up to 4K) and a physical SIM slot.
Software & Updates: The Pixel 9a will ship with Android 15 and promise seven years of updates.

Pixel 9a – Dimensions and Weight

The leaked specs sheet also gives a hint at the possible size and weight of the Pixel 9a. It confirms that despite the bigger battery, the Pixel 9a is only slightly larger than the Pixel 8a.

It measures 154.7 x 73.3 x 8.9mm and is also lighter at 185.9 grams.

According to the leaked document, the $499 price will remain unchanged from the Pixel 7a and 8a with a $50 premium for the mmWave variant. The report suggests this pricing comes from a wireless carrier and has been confirmed by a secondary source as well.

Google has unveiled its latest quantum computing chip called Willow making waves across the tech world. Willow promises to reduce errors exponentially and tackles a challenge in quantum error correction that researchers have been chasing for nearly 30 years.

Google claims that Willow can solve a standard benchmark computation in under five minutes. For context, the same task would take the fastest supercomputer around 10 septillion years or approximately 1025 years.

Instagram has been rolling out several new features specially developed to help content creators ensure only quality content goes in front of their followers. The new ‘Trial Reels’ is a similar feature that will help content creators in experimenting with different types of content.

In a recent press note, Meta announced the rollout of a new feature on Instagram called Trial Reels. This feature has been designed to help creators test how their videos perform with non-followers before sharing them with their actual audience.

It will allow creators to see which content resonates best and ensure only the most engaging videos reach their followers.

Explain how the feature will work, Meta shared instructions, “To share a reel as a trial, simply take the usual steps to create a reel, but before sharing, tap the toggle to turn on ‘Trial.’ After sharing your trial reel, you can find it by visiting your profile, where it will appear alongside any drafts you have.”

Moreover, creators will get access to insights and metrics 24 hours after posting a trial reel. If the trial reel performs well, creators will have the option to share it automatically with their followers after 72 hours. Once the reel is shared with all followers, it will appear live on your Instagram profile grid. The reel will be eligible to be distributed to followers on all Instagram surfaces.

Approximately 24 hours after you share a trial reel, you can view key engagement metrics in the reels viewer – including views, likes, comments and shares.

For now, the Trial Reels feature is in its own testing phase.

Meta has made it available to a select group of users with plans to roll it out globally to all eligible creators in the coming weeks.
