0

Highlights

  • Xiaomi has been working on a buttonless MIX model, codenamed ‘zhuque.’
  • The brand previously tested buttonless phones including a prototype named ‘Wangshu.’
  • Images of the ‘Wangshu’ prototype leaked on CoolAPK.

It was earlier reported that Xiaomi is working on the brand’s first buttonless MIX model. Several reports claim that the brand was working on the device under the codename ‘zhuque.’

While we were waiting for more reports on that phone, contrary reports also surfaced online climbing Xiaomi actually tested a buttonless smartphone 1.5 years ago.

The phone, however, never saw the light of the day because the brand never launched it.

Now, murmurs about a buttonless Xiaomi smartphone are resurfacing as images of a prototype have been leaked. It appears the brand is finally ready to reintroduce the concept.

Before we discuss more about ‘zhuque’, let’s check out Xiaomi’s first buttonless prototype, codenamed ‘Wangshu.’

Prototype images of this device have recently surfaced on the popular Chinese forum CoolAPK.

Xiaomi Buttonless Smartphone – ‘Wangshu’ Prototype

Xiaomi’s ‘Wangshu’ was a buttonless MIX smartphone equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

The device also featured an under-screen camera, supported 200W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It also had a 2K 120Hz LTPO display and a 4500mAh battery.

In a recent Gizmochina report, details of MIUI code have been released confirming the leaks. As per the report, it seems that the codename ‘Wangshu’ was indeed assigned to this unreleased MIX prototype.

The prototype photos were shared by user @Einewill on CoolAPK.

The photos reveal a smartphone with the MIX logo on the top and bottom.

However, despite the impressive features and good design, Xiaomi for some reason decided not to release it.

In the last few years, the company has tested multiple MIX prototypes. Although, none have been launched for end consumers yet.

Now, with ‘zhuque’ in development, there is a high chance we will have this buttonless phone concept as a product soon, provided they don’t shelve this one too!

There has been no official update about the phone, its features or its release date as of now.

Gurman: No Apple Watch Ultra 3 Not Expected at Upcoming Event, Black Titanium Colour for Ultra 2

0

Highlight

  • No Apple Watch Ultra 3 at the upcoming event.
  • Apple will focus on updating the existing Apple Watch Ultra 2.
  • The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is expected to introduce a new Black Titanium colour.
  • A new Apple Watch SE with plastic housing is also expected, but it may be delayed.

In a surprising new update, it looks like there will be no Apple Watch Ultra 3 in the upcoming Apple event scheduled for September 9.

Trusted Apple reporter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in a late-night tweet revealed that Apple won’t be unveiling a new third-generation Apple Watch Ultra.

Instead, the Cupertino giant will focus on updating the existing Apple Watch Ultra 2.

“I don’t expect Apple to announce an Apple Watch Ultra 3 tomorrow. Instead, I expect the Ultra 2 to stick around andfinally — gain a black colour option.

I also wouldn’t rule out a delay to the new Watch SE,” Gurman mentions in a post.

Many expected to see a refreshed Ultra model as rumours around a supposed unveil have been doing rounds for some time.

Gurman also reveals that Apple is expected to introduce a new Black Titanium colour option for the Watch Ultra 2.

image

This aligns with speculations from last year when leaked FCC images hinted at this darker colour scheme.

Now, with Gurman’s confirmation, we can assume this colour variant to debut during the September 9 keynote.

Experts were quick to raise questions on the decision not to refresh the Apple Watch Ultra.

One prominent question arises on whether the Ultra watch will now get support for the sleep apnea monitoring feature.

This feature was expected with the Apple Watch Series 10.

Moreover, Gurman mentioned the release of the new Apple Watch SE. It will most likely feature a plastic housing instead of aluminium, which may be delayed.

The Apple Event is scheduled for September 9 starting at 10 am PT/1 pm ET. The event can be live-streamed on Apple’s website, Apple TV app, or YouTube.

FAQs

Will there be a new Apple Watch Ultra 3?

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will not be unveiling a new third-generation Apple Watch Ultra at the upcoming event. Instead, they will focus on updating the existing Apple Watch Ultra 2.

What new features or updates can we expect for the Apple Watch Ultra 2?

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is expected to introduce a new Black Titanium colour option. Additionally, there are questions about whether the Ultra watch will support the sleep apnea monitoring feature, which was anticipated for the Apple Watch Series 10.

What do we know about the Display Technology on the Apple Watch Ultra 3 till now ?

Apple is rumored to be getting the new low-energy OLED panel technology in new Apple Watch models to reduce the power consumption of its always-on display.

In that case it’s unlikely that Apple would use the technology in its latest Series model without also bringing it to its latest Apple Watch Ultra model.

What are the design updates we know so far on the Apple Watch Ultra 3?

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman recently said that this year’s third-generation Apple Watch Ultra will have “roughly the same look as the original.”

He has previously suggested a totally redesigned “Apple Watch X” with a thinner case and magnetic bands is coming, but this is likely to be a different model to the Ultra, and he said it would be released “in 2024 or 2025.”

An all-new 49mm casing size, matching the current Apple Watch Ultra, is expected to be introduced as the new larger option.

What are the Color’s expected on Apple Watch Ultra 3?

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that if production yields meet expectations, a new dark/black case color option could be made available.

What do we know about the watchOS11 on the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 3?

Apple Watch Ultra 3 will run watchOS 11, the latest version of the Apple Watch operating system.

Users can expect a range of updates and improvements, such as additional Smart Stack widgets, Check In for Messages and workouts, a Vitals app to view key health metrics, a Translate app, a new Apple Pay feature called Tap to Cash, training load for workouts, additional workout types, more customizable Activity rings, and more.

Latest Update: iPhone 16 Pro to Keep $999 (INR 84,000) Price Tag

0

Highlights

  • Conflicting reports about the iPhone 16 Pro price have come out.
  • Previous reports suggested a price hike to $1,099 (approx INR 92,000) with 256GB storage.
  • Mark Gurman’s recent tweets indicate the iPhone 16 Pro will maintain its $999 price (approx INR 84,000).

There have been multiple contradictory reports on the expected price of the upcoming iPhone 16 series.

While we can’t say anything with certainty until the launch, the latest updates from one of Apple’s most trusted reporters are mostly likely true.

According to a new tweet from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 16 Pro will maintain its $999 price (approximately INR 84,000).

This launch price was first introduced with the iPhone X back in 2017.

This new update, however, goes against another report from 9to5Mac last week indicating a price hike.

The previous report mentioned that the iPhone 16 Pro would see a price increase to $1,099 (approximately INR 92,000) with 256GB of storage as the default option.

This isn’t all too surprising since Apple made a similar change last year with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The company raised the base price from $1,099 to $1,199 by eliminating the 128GB storage tier.

However, it seems this won’t happen with the iPhone 16 Pro, which is expected to keep the same 128GB storage option for $999.

There have also been rumours about 2TB of storage getting introduced in new 16 Pro models for the first time this year.

If there is any truth in this, there is also a chance that Apple drops the 128GB option for Pro models.

As mentioned, the Pro Max has already abandoned the 128GB option in the last iPhone 15 series.

There are currently four storage options available and the chance of Apple introducing five seems far off.

Price is not the only thing Gurman hinted at in his latest tweet.

iPhone 16 Pro: Slimmer Bezels for a Sleek New Look

Gurman also shared that the iPhone 16 Pro will have noticeably slimmer bezels and we will also get improvements in battery life across all models.

Many experts online have welcomed the rumours about battery life improvements in the upcoming iPhone 16 series.

The battery sizes of iPhones have remained fairly constant over the past few years. The last major battery upgrade we witnessed long ago in 2021 was with the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Moreover, AI features, Capture Button and the new A18 chip are expected to be key highlights at Apple’s upcoming event.

The much-anticipated Apple event is scheduled to kick off on September 9 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. You can watch it live on Apple’s website, the Apple TV app, or YouTube.

FAQs

What is the expected price of the iPhone 16 Pro?

There are conflicting reports about the price of the iPhone 16 Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 16 Pro will maintain its $999 price, which was first introduced with the iPhone X in 2017. However, a previous report from 9to5Mac suggested a price increase to $1,099 with 256GB of storage as the default option. It seems likely that the iPhone 16 Pro will keep the 128GB storage option for $999.

What new features are expected in the iPhone 16 Pro?

The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have slimmer bezels, improved battery life, AI features, and the new A18 chip. The “Capture Button” is likely to be included in all four iPhone models, not just the Pro versions. There are also rumours about the introduction of a 2TB storage option, although it is uncertain if the 128GB option will be dropped.

Will iPhone 16 bring design changes and bigger displays ?

iPhone 16 lineup is coming with four models: the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max.
The standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are rumoured to feature their usual 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens.
For the base variants, Apple is expected to introduce a new vertical camera setup, diverging from the diagonal arrangement of the iPhone 15 series.
This design is according to Apple’s plan to support spatial video recording on the standard models, this was earlier only on Pro models.

The premium iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are said to have most of the iPhone 15 Pro line’s design, but with one noticeable difference: larger displays.
The iPhone 16 Pro will feature a 6.3-inch screen, while the Pro Max will boast a 6.9-inch display, both slightly bigger than their predecessors.
Pro models could have slimmer bezels, giving it a sleeker look & immersive viewing experience. Apple is also rumoured to update colour options, introducing a gold titanium finish for the Pro models, replacing the blue titanium from last year.

Will Iphone 16 series have a Bigger battery and faster charging ?

iPhone 16 series is expected to have improvements in battery & charging capabilities.
The Pro models are expected to include stacked battery technology, allowing for higher capacity and longer battery life without increasing the size of the device.

iPhone 16 series is rumoured to support 40W wired charging and 20W MagSafe charging, marking a significant upgrade from the 27W charging speeds of the iPhone 15 series.

What are the expectations from iPhone 16 pro camera ?

The iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to have camera upgrades, including a 48-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera, up from the 12-megapixel sensor on the iPhone 15 Pro.
iPhone 16 Pro models expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem for faster and more efficient 5G connectivity.
Wi-Fi 7 integration is also anticipated in the Pro models, while the standard iPhone 16 models will upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E.

How Will the new buttons action & capture be on the Upcoming iPhone ?

The Action button, was earlier only on the Pro models, is expected to now be available on the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.
The Pro models are rumoured to feature the Capture button, positioned on the right side of the phone.

You will be able to lightly press to focus, press harder to take a shot, and swipe to switch between still and video modes or zoom in and out.
The action button will help in quickly launching apps, toggling settings, or activating accessibility features.

Gizmochina is one of their recent reports confirmed spotting three Sony devices on their IMEI database. The reports suggest all three devices can be expected to be released in the near future. However, there has been no official confirmation from the brand or any official spokesperson.

Moreover, details about the spotted phones are also hazy.

According to entries found in the IMEI database, Gizmochina has, however, shared the model numbers of the three phones in its exclusive report.

As per the screenshots shared, the three upcoming smartphones will have model numbers – PM-1502-BV, PM-1503-BV, and PM-1504-BV.

These model numbers reveal little to no information about which lineups these new smartphones will belong to.

The brand, previously this year, has announced two smartphones – the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI. That announcement came in the month of May.

The recently spotted smartphone discovery now follows the release of these two smartphones, making a total of 5 smartphone launches for the brand this year.

To recall, both the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI were announced on 15th May 2024.

The Xperia 1 VI comes with a 6.50-inch touchscreen display and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It comes with 12GB of RAM and runs Android 14. It is powered by a 5000mAh battery.

On the other hand, the Xperia 10 VI phone comes with a 6.10-inch touchscreen display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. With 8GB of RAM, this phone runs on Android 14 and is powered by a 5000mAh battery.

Anyhow, with no specific technical details available and no update on the release date as of now, speculating on the newly spotted phones will be difficult. We will have to wait to get a better idea of what Sony has in store for its smartphone lineup.

Google Shares Details of Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s ‘Phone First’ Redesign Philosophy

0
Pixel 9 Pro Fold

Highlights

  • The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is significantly thinner than its predecessor.
  • The new durable hinge and a “phone first” design approach is based on user feedback.
  • The device also features a redesigned camera bar.

It appears Google really wants you to know how much work and thought has gone into redesigning the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

The second-generation foldable is something Google genuinely seems to be proud of and the company is not shying away from sharing their pride with you.

The company shared a blog post on Google Blog yesterday detailing every thought and engineering that made Pixel 9 Pro Fold possible.

Google redesigned the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and made it thinner. (Image credit – Google Blog).

One of the major highlights of the newly launched foldable is how thinner it is.

The 9 Pro Fold is 1.5 millimetres thinner when closed and 0.7 millimetres when open compared to the first-generation Pixel Fold.

Video (Credit – Google Blog)

“We knew when we made the second one, it had to be thinner,” says Pixel product manager George Hwang.

What worked as a starting point for the current design tweaks and enhancement is insights into how people interacted with the original Pixel Fold.

Most first-generation users, while enjoying the new form factor and tablet-like experience, also want to use their foldable like a regular smartphone.

They want to be able to use their foldable phone close as much as open.

Explaining this, Google’s Director of Industrial Design Claude Zellweger said, “We saw that people were often using it closed.[….] That’s what led us to say, ‘Hey, we need to make this a phone first in terms of design. Our mantra became ‘phone first.’”

Video (Credit – Google Blog)

The “multi-alloy steel, high-strength aluminium alloy-covered ” hinge also played a role in making the device thinner.

Compared to last year, the new hinge is more durable.

Meanwhile, Google has repeatedly asked us to pay attention to the “snap” closing sound:

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s camera bar design also differs from the rest of the series.

The camera bar doesn’t span the entire width.

Instead, its design is closer to that of the Pixel Fold.

Video (Credit – Google Blog)

Google explains that the “double-stacked” camera bar was used to accommodate a larger battery and thinner design while maintaining Pro camera features with “customized optical modules.”

Other custom elements include a thinner haptics driver, a smaller USB-C port, and an upgraded “vapour chamber and graphite thermal spreader” for improved thermal management.

As per reports, static lyrics impact 13 out of the top 25 songs in the U.S.

Many users online believe this could be part of a broader glitch in the YouTube Music app.

Moreover, the sync feature highlighting or auto-scrolling is also missing.

This issue affects both old and new songs. And it is reportedly the same issue with songs from all sources.

Bluetooth 6.0 Could Help Improve Apple’s Find My Network

Highlights

  • Bluetooth 6.0 introduces Bluetooth Channel Sounding.
  • It will feature centimetre-level distance accuracy.
  • It will also enhance Apple’s Find My Network.

The Bluetooth SIG, Bluetooth Special Interest Group, has announced the specifications for the next generation of the technology – “Bluetooth 6.0.”

While it will add a lot of upgrades to the wireless technology, one particular upgrade will improve Apple’s Find My Network feature used for tracking devices.

A report published in BGR has revealed details of every new enhancement of the upcoming wireless protocol.

Bluetooth 6.0 will have an innovative feature named Bluetooth Channel Sounding that will bring “true distance awareness.”

This feature, as per the BGR article description, will unlock “centimetre-level accuracy over considerable distances.”

This means, in simple words, mean upcoming Bluetooth 6.0 will provide the exact distance between devices.

What makes this beneficial for Apple’s Find My Network feature is an improved distance awareness technology will significantly improve the ability of the feature to locate lost devices.

Apple’s Find My network is based on Bluetooth and it currently relies on ultra-wideband technology.

The feature uses the Precision Finding feature for iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirTag users to measure the distance between two devices accurately.

Moreover, it is also reported that the new Bluetooth Channel Sounding will likely add an extra layer of security for authentication.

This will be useful for digital keys.

Bluetooth 6.0 can also transmit larger data frames and enables lower latency for audio applications.

As of now, there are no updates on timelines of when Apple might be adopting the upcoming Bluetooth 6.0.

However, we can assume at least a year before new devices can come out featuring the just announced wireless protocol.

  • Rachel Manalo, 18 weeks pregnant, used her Apple Watch’s ECG feature to detect a dangerously high heart rate.
  • Apple Watch helped in the timely diagnosis of ventricular tachycardia.
  • Saved both mother and baby.

No matter how one looks at the latest innovation, technology often comes to our rescue when we need it the most.

This time, the Apple Watch has practically saved not one but two lives.

Rachel Manalo, a pregnant woman, believes her Apple Watch saved both her life and her baby’s life.

As reported by ABC News San Diego, at 18 weeks pregnant, Manalo began feeling her heart racing persistently.

Using the watch’s ECG (electrocardiogram) feature, she discovered her heart rate was 150 bpm for over 40 minutes.

The app urged her to seek medical help.

Soon doctors diagnosed her with ventricular tachycardia—a dangerous condition that could lead to a heart attack.

While speaking to the media, Manalo described how the Apple Watch helped, “I would feel tired, short of breath. […] I click the EKG function on my watch. And then you place your finger on the crown and lay your arm still on the table.”

The ECG result was inconclusive but alarming enough for her to take action.

Her doctor, Dr. Nguyen, explained the severity of the condition, especially during pregnancy.

“That type of heart issue, if not taken care of, can lead to a heart attack. And then you add on that she was pregnant,” said Dr. Nguyen.

Q2. What is Fall Detection, and how do I enable it on my Apple Watch?

Answer. Fall Detection is a safety feature available on Apple Watch Series 4 and later.

It detects hard falls and can automatically call emergency services if you don’t respond to the alert.

To enable it, open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to “Emergency SOS,” and toggle on “Fall Detection.”

Q3. How do I track my workouts using the Apple Watch?

Answer. To track workouts, open the Workout app on your Apple Watch. Select the type of workout you want to track, such as running, cycling, or swimming, and tap “Start.”
