Realme GT 7 Tipped As The Most Affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite Phone, February Launch Expected

0

Highlights

  • Realme plans to launch two smartphones in China this February.
  • These are the Realme GT 7 and the Neo 7 SE.
  • Realme GT 7 is expected to be the most affordable phone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
  • The Neo 7 SE with a Dimensity 8400-Max chipset also targets budget-conscious users.

Realme is gearing up for the launch of two exciting smartphones the Realme Neo 7 SE and the Realme GT 7 in China this February. According to a reliable Chinese tipster, the GT 7 is set to debut as a more affordable smartphone with powerful chipset joining the previously announced Neo 7 SE.

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming phones so far.

Realme GT 7 Featuring Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset

The Realme GT 7 is expected to feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset making it temporarily the most affordable phone powered by this processor. Currently, the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro holds this title with a starting price of 3,399 Yuan (approx $465).

If Realme aims to undercut this price, the GT 7 could become a highly competitive option in the flagship category.

The GT 7 Pro, which launched in November 2024, also features the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. However, the upcoming GT 7 (spotted as RMX5090 in TENAA certifications) will differ slightly. The GT 7 will reportedly drop the periscope telephoto camera seen on the Pro model instead opting for a redesigned dual-camera setup. This reduction in camera hardware is likely aimed at keeping costs low.

While the GT 7 Pro boasts an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor, it’s unclear if the same feature will make it to the GT 7. Instead, Realme may include an optical in-screen fingerprint sensor further helping to reduce the price.

Realme Neo 7 SE – What We Know So Far?

Realme is also introducing the Neo 7 SE, which is essentially a reworked version of the Neo 7, now powered by the Dimensity 8400-Max chipset. The original Neo 7 launched in December 2024 with a Dimensity 9300+ processor. While the Neo 7 SE will retain most of the same features, its less powerful chip will position it as a more budget-friendly option.

The Neo 7 SE is expected to dethrone the Redmi Turbo 4 as the most affordable phone with a Dimensity 8400 chip. For example, the Redmi Turbo 4 launched earlier this month starts at 1,999 Yuan (approx $275).

GT 7 and Neo 7 SE – Launch (Expected)

Expected launch date teased.

If the rumours hold true, Realme will announce both the GT 7 and Neo 7 SE in late February.

The GT 7 will be the highly competitive flagship offering top-tier performance at an affordable price. On the other hand, the Neo 7 SE caters to budget-conscious users looking for solid performance without breaking the bank.

FAQs

Q1. What chipset will the Realme GT 7 feature?

Answer. The Realme GT 7 is expected to feature the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, making it temporarily the most affordable phone powered by this processor.

Q2. What are the expected launch details for the Realme GT 7 and Neo 7 SE?

Answer. Realme will announce both the GT 7 and Neo 7 SE in late February. The GT 7 aims to offer top-tier performance at an affordable price, while the Neo 7 SE caters to budget-conscious users.

Q3. What is the difference between the Realme GT 7 and GT 7 Pro?

Answer. The upcoming GT 7 will differ slightly from the GT 7 Pro by dropping the periscope telephoto camera and possibly using an optical in-screen fingerprint sensor instead of the ultrasonic version, to keep costs low.

Highlights

  • The Oppo Find N5 is set to be the world’s thinnest foldable phone measuring 3.5–4mm when unfolded and 9mm when folded.
  • The Find N5 design features a titanium build, IPX8 water resistance and a new sensor arrangement with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens.
  • It will packed with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 16GB RAM, a 5,700mAh battery and a 2K resolution display.
  • The Find N5 will launch in China in February with a global rollout and rebranding as OnePlus Open 2 expected in March.

Foldable phones have often faced criticism for their bulky designs but Oppo is about to redefine expectations with the Find N5, the thinnest foldable phone yet.

New images and leaks reveal a device that is impressively slim at just 3.5–4mm when unfolded and 9mm when folded. Here’s everything we know based on recent leaks and reports.

It has previously been reported by  Pete Lau that OnePlus Open 2 based on the Oppo Find N5 will be the thinnest book-style foldable. Now new images shared on Weibo by Oppo’s Zhou Yibao gave us a glimpse of the upcoming foldable.

To give an idea of how thick the phone actually will be, images show the phone compared with different objects for perspective.

The images show the phone’s thickness similar to four stacked credit cards, barely thicker than a USB-C port or half the thickness of an iPhone.

Oppo’s Zhou Yibao shared the comparison images of the Find N5 in a recent post on Weibo.

The Oppo Find N5 will set a new benchmark for foldable designs undercutting the Honor Magic V3’s 4.35mm thickness when unfolded. Zhou explained that the USB-C charging port is the current limit to how thin the device can go. Despite its slimness, the Find N5 boasts a larger battery of around 20% bigger than the Oppo Find N3 along with significant performance upgrades.

Oppo Find N5 – Design and Camera Upgrades

Recently, Tech Blogger Fixed Focus Digital leaked images live renders to showcase the Find N5’s redesigned look compared to its predecessor the Find N3.

The latter with a thickness of 7.9mm highlights just how thin the Find N5’s design is. Live shots of the device also reveal its sleek profile and refined details, which could set a new standard for foldable devices.

A leaked side-by-side image shows the Find N5 on the left and the Find N3 on the right, highlighting the evolution of the design. The Find N5 is expected to use a titanium build, ensuring durability while maintaining its lightweight profile and will include an IPX8 water resistance rating.

The device retains the large round camera module but features a new sensor arrangement. The LED flash is now placed in the bottom-right corner, while a 50MP periscope telephoto lens occupies the upper right. In contrast, the Find N3’s LED flash was positioned outside the camera module.

Oppo Find N5 Spotted on Geekbench

In a Geekbench listing, the Find N5 (model PKH110) scored 2,948–3,083 points in single-core tests and 8,196–8,865 in multi-core tests. The slightly lower multi-core scores are attributed to the absence of one core in the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip as compared to its regular 8-core version.

The Find N5 also has a satellite connectivity variant (model PKH120), though it remains unclear if this version will use the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite or the regular 8-core variant.

The Oppo Find N5 is packed with flagship features including:

  • Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset (new 7-core version)
  • 16GB RAM and Android 15
  • 5,700mAh battery with 50W magnetic wireless charging

Instagram Rolls Out 3-Minute Reels, Rectangular Grids and a New Edits App Amid TikTok Ban

With all the drama going on with the TikTok ban, Instagram is making significant updates to attract users. This weekend, Instagram introduced three-minute Reels and replaced the iconic square profile grid with a rectangular one.

Instagram Head Adam Mosseri announced these changes via an Instagram post and Story explaining that the grid update reflects the growing trend of vertical uploads.

“I know some of you really like your squares, and square photos are kind of the heritage of Instagram, but at this point most of what’s uploaded — both photos and videos — are vertical in their orientation, so portrait versus landscape or square, and it just is a bummer to overly crop them,” Mosseri said in his Stories.

He added, “I know it’s a change, I know it’s a bit of a pain, but I think it’s a transitional pain.” He also expressed optimism, saying, “I think that people will over the long run be excited” not to have their posts appear “aggressively cropped.”

The rectangular grid will only affect how photos and videos appear on profiles, and they’ll still expand to their original size when clicked.

Instagram has also extended the maximum length of Reels from 90 seconds to three minutes. Mosseri explained, “We’ve heard the feedback that this is just too short for those who want to share longer stories.” The change makes Reels more competitive with TikTok, which started with short videos but now allows posts up to 10 minutes long.

Additionally, a new Reels tab now lets users see videos their friends have liked or added Notes to. This update brings back memories of Instagram’s old “Following” activity feed, which was removed due to privacy concerns. Some may find this feature fun, but others could see it as invasive.

In a separate surprising announcement, Meta has introduced a new video editing platform called Edits. This comes just hours after TikTok (and by extension, CapCut) faced a US ban, though TikTok is temporarily being restored.

Adam Mosseri announced the app on Threads, describing it as a tool for “those of you who are passionate about making videos on your phone.”

He added, “There’s a lot going on right now, but no matter what happens it’s our job to provide the best possible tools for creators.”

Edits will offer the following features –

  • A dedicated inspiration tab
  • A section to track your ideas
  • A “much higher quality camera” for shooting videos
  • “All the editing tools you’d expect”
  • The ability to share drafts with friends and creators
  • Easy export to Instagram and detailed insights for Reels

Meta says Edits has already been tested with creators and is now available for pre-order on the App Store with a launch expected in February. However, the App Store lists March as the release date.

With these updates, Instagram is positioning itself as a top choice for creators especially as TikTok’s future in the US remains uncertain.

FAQs

Q1. What new features has Instagram introduced recently?

Answer. Instagram introduced three-minute Reels and replaced the square profile grid with a rectangular one, reflecting the trend of vertical uploads.

Q2. What is Meta’s new video editing platform and what does it offer?

Answer. Meta launched a new video editing platform called Edits, offering features like a high-quality camera, editing tools, and easy export to Instagram, and it’s available for pre-order on the App Store.

Q3. Why is Instagram making these updates now?

Answer. These updates come as the US nears a potential TikTok ban, positioning Instagram as a top choice for creators amidst the uncertainty of TikTok’s future in the US.

Redesigned Apple Mail App Coming to macOS in April, Says Gurman

Highlights

  • Apple plans to release a revamped Mail app for macOS with macOS 15.4 in April.

It appears Apple is aiming to enhance the user experience across all its platforms with a more consistent design for one of its most-used apps. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his recent Power On Newsletter, Apple’s revamped Mail app is set to arrive on Mac with the release of macOS 15.4 in April. Here’s what we know so far.

The new Mail app, which launched for iPhone in December with iOS 18.2, has yet to roll out to other platforms, but that’s about to change soon.

We’ve already had a glimpse of the updated Mail app for macOS. When Apple unveiled the new M4 Macs in October, the redesigned Mail app made a brief appearance during the event. While this wasn’t exactly a major leak—since the new design had already debuted on iPhone at WWDC—it was the first sign that the update was in the works for macOS.

In a follow-up tweet, Gurman clarified that the redesigned Mail app will also launch for iPad users around the same time.

While Gurman claims it’s currently available on iPad, that’s not the case just yet. Neither iPadOS 18.2 nor iPadOS 18.3 includes the updated app. However, it’s likely to arrive with iPadOS 18.4, expected soon.

Back in December, Apple began rolling out iOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3 betas. While macOS 15.3 brought Genmoji to Mac, the new Mail app didn’t make the cut, leaving many users wondering about its timeline.

According to Gurman, macOS 15.4 will enter beta in the coming weeks, with the final release slated for April. Highlighting this, Gurman writes, “But there’s another, more under-the-radar feature coming in April as well: The Mac will get the upgraded Mail app that uses AI to prioritise messages and sort content into different inboxes. Right now, iPad and iPhone users are able to tap into the feature — which is terrific — but Mac customers have been left behind. That changes with macOS 15.4, I’m told. For those not familiar with the feature: It sorts mail into a primary category, as well as ones for transactions, promotions, updates and all mail.”

If everything goes as expected, both Mac and iPad users will have access to the redesigned Mail app soon.

FAQs

Q1. When will the redesigned Mail app for macOS be released?

Answer. The redesigned Mail app for macOS is set to arrive with the release of macOS 15.4 in April.

Q2. What new features will the revamped Mail app include?

Answer. The new Mail app will use AI to prioritize messages and sort content into different inboxes, including categories like primary, transactions, promotions, updates, and all mail.

Q3. Will the redesigned Mail app be available for other Apple devices?

Answer. Yes, the redesigned Mail app will also launch for iPad users around the same time as macOS 15.4, ensuring a consistent user experience across platforms.

iPhone SE 3 Stock Running Out as Apple Prepares for iPhone SE 4 Launch

0

Highlights

  • Reports confirm stock for the current iPhone SE 3 is running low suggesting its imminent discontinuation.
  • Upcoming iPhone SE 4 expected features – a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, USB-C and new features like Genmoji and Notification Summaries.
  • The new iPhone SE is rumoured to start at $499.

It is now becoming clear that Apple is shifting its focus entirely to the upcoming iPhone SE model with the launch of the redesigned iPhone SE 4 approaching. If you want an iPhone SE 3, you can still order it online for now but reports suggest Apple Store inventory is running low.

The supply of the current iPhone SE launched in 2022 is rapidly shrinking at Apple Stores, according to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter. This isn’t surprising as Apple is expected to unveil a brand-new iPhone SE in just a couple of months. However, what’s notable is that Apple seems to have no plans to keep the current model available once the new one launches.

iPhone SE 4 – What We Know So Far?

Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE, which might be called the iPhone 16E, is set for a major overhaul, possibly arriving in April. This will be the biggest redesign in the history of the SE lineup featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, USB-C and support for Apple Intelligence.

New features like Genmoji and Notification Summaries will also be part of the package, which will make it more aligned with Apple’s flagship models.

However, these upgrades come with a price since the new iPhone SE is rumoured to start at $499 marking a significant jump from its predecessor.

Apple often keeps older models at lower prices to cater to budget-conscious buyers as they did with the M1 MacBook Air when the M2 version was launched. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the iPhone SE 3. Reports suggest that production of the current model has already slowed down signalling its potential discontinuation.

This might disappoint those hoping for an affordable iPhone around $300. However, the iPhone SE 3 is based on the 2017 iPhone 8 and is outdated in many ways. The phone struggles to compete with Android devices in the same price range even as it offers a solid chipset and decent cameras.

Apple stopped selling the iPhone SE 3 in the European Union late last year due to new USB-C regulations, which banned the sale of Lightning-equipped devices like the iPhone SE 3 and iPhone 14.

FAQs

Q1. What is happening with the stock of iPhone SE 3?

Answer. Reports suggest Apple Store inventory of the current iPhone SE, launched in 2022, is running low. Apple seems to have no plans to keep the current model available once the new iPhone SE 4 launches.

Q2. What upgrades can we expect in the upcoming iPhone SE 4?

Answer. The upcoming iPhone SE 4 is set for a major overhaul featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, USB-C, and support for Apple Intelligence, along with new features like Genmoji and Notification Summaries.

Q3. What will be the price of the new iPhone SE 4 and how does it compare to the iPhone SE 3?

Answer. The new iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to start at $499, marking a significant jump from its predecessor. Unlike previous models, Apple seems to have no plans to continue selling the SE 3 at a lower price.

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip – Design, Build and IO

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip – Design, Build and IO

This is, as HP has been promoting it, a delight for freelancers or working professionals who are always on the move. Portability-wise, it is definitely a machine that you can easily carry along. This 14-inch 2-in-1 sleek-looking laptop in the aluminium frame comes in full metal body. It is quite lightweight at just 1.3kg and compact with 14.9 mm thickness.

We had the Atmospheric Blue colour unit for this review and it is stunning to look at. It comes in a classic matte finish, which means you don’t have to really worry about keeping it clean all the time.

The 360-degree hinge design can be very attractive depending on what exactly you are looking for in a laptop. HP is calling it Ultra Flip, which is an interesting word choice in times when foldable gadgets are very much in trend. The laptop is basically a convertible as you can flip it into a tablet when needed. The hinge seems to be sturdy.

The limited ports could be a problem for some users. It only features 2 Thunderbolts 4s, 1 USB Type-C and 1 headphone/microphone combo.

Overall, the Omnibook Ultra Flip is a compact 2-in-1 Laptop that looks great, offers usage versatility and feels easy to handle. HP has very evidently designed this for people who are always on the move.

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip – Display and Keyboard

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip – Display and Keyboard

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip sports a 14-inch 2.8K OLED touch display, which comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. We found the display sharp and vibrant right from the start. The colours pop out in this OLED panel with a sharp resolution of 2880 x 1800. The visuals appear stunningly rich and it gives an immersive experience.

The colour reproduction is excellent, thanks to the 100% of both the DCI-P3 and sRGB colour spaces. And with 500nits of brightness, this display works decently well even outdoors. The touch feels smooth and handles everyday tasks such as scrolling or navigation well. We didn’t face any significant lags and hangups. The 120Hz high refresh rate keeps responsiveness effortless.

Being a 360-degree versatile 2-in-1 laptop, it comes with some of the best viewing angles we have seen in laptops recently.

The chiclet-style keyboard isn’t personally our favourite since we type a lot. The keys are quite mushy and require more force to press. So, if your work requires a lot more typing or you are into gaming, we would recommend you consider this aspect once before making any decision when it comes to buying a laptop.

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip – Performance, Features and Battery

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip – Performance, Features and Battery

The brand marketing for the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip is focused on working professionals, freelancers or creators. To cater to this demographic, efficiency is where the machine scores well. Our review unit came with 32GB of LPPDR5x RAM and 1TB of PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD configuration. We had a smooth sailing in every task. Multitasking on this laptop was also a breeze and we hardly noticed any significant fallback or overheating.

While it is not particularly a machine designed for gaming, we did try our hands in some of the basic games. The experience was much better than we initially expected it to be. It managed graphic-heavy games on low settings pretty well.

HP is not falling behind the AI trend. Apart from the dedicated Co-Pilot button, you will also notice a new AI tag on the Omnibook Ultra Flip. The laptop comes with a bunch of AI-powered tools that can help simplify some tasks such as Photo or video editing. There is also the HP AI Companion app that does what many AI-powered tools promise. Some of the features of this app include summarising long articles, generating content, answering user queries using natural language processing and optimising the laptop’s performance.

We ran some common benchmark tests on the laptop. On Geekbench, it managed 1526 on single-core and 9146 on multi-core performance. Here are the results.

The battery life is very impressive. We were able to make it through a full workday with some creative work, video streaming and a little bit of gaming, all on a single charge.

Verdict – Should You Buy HP OmniBook Ultra Flip?

Verdict – Should You Buy HP OmniBook Ultra Flip?

HP OmniBook Ultra Flip should be your choice if you are looking for a sleek convertible laptop that delivers on battery and overall performance. While the brand is pushing the laptop on its AI abilities, it is the overall performance where this one should be considered. The AI features are good and can be helpful but they are still on a very basic level.

One of the biggest points in favour of this laptop is its versatile design that gives flexibility to users to use it in multiple ways. The stunning display and Intel Core Ultra 7 258V (8C) ensures that you get an overall good experience. The price does seem on the higher side but in case that is not a constraint, we say you could consider HP OmniBook Ultra Flip before your next upgrade.

Apple has made a significant leap in India’s smartphone market capturing a 9-10% share in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to preliminary data from IDC and Counterpoint Research.  The Cupertino Giant has entered the top five smartphone brands in India for the first time, thanks to growing demand for its premium devices.

The festive season of 2024 played a key role in Apple’s success. Aggressive pricing strategies, including festive discounts, no-cost EMIs of up to 24 months and attractive deals on e-commerce platforms, helped the brand appeal to a broader audience.

While the new AI-powered iPhone 16 series generated plenty of excitement, Apple’s older models like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 13 also sold remarkably well.

Research Director at Counterpoint Tarun Pathak said, “With increasing disposable income and aspirational purchases among the growing middle class, especially the youth, Apple has become the brand of choice for young consumers. Beyond tier 2 cities, the iPhone represents more than just a smartphone – it’s a lifestyle statement.”

Apple shipped over 12 million iPhones in India in 2024, marking a staggering 34-35% year-on-year growth compared to 9 million units in 2023. This growth cements Apple’s position as a rising star in India’s cost-sensitive smartphone market.

Apple has managed this feat despite competition from Chinese smartphone makers like Vivo and Huawei, who continue to dominate with affordable Android options. Its ability to blend premium features with aspirational branding has helped it stand out in a crowded market.

India has now become Apple’s fifth-largest market and could climb to the third spot by 2026. Experts predict the company will sell around 15 million iPhones annually in India by then mainly due to expanding manufacturing footprint in the country.

Apple is reportedly making a big move to address thermal issues in the iPhone 17 series by introducing vapour chamber cooling across both Pro and non-Pro models.

Heat is a key factor in smartphone performance. If a device overheats, it can cause the processor to throttle, leading to slow performance, lag and even freezing. Overheating also speeds up battery wear and shortens the phone’s lifespan.

Apple’s decision to switch to vapour chamber cooling reflects its focus on improving thermal efficiency in the next generation of iPhones.

How Vapour Chamber Cooling Works?

All iPhones currently rely on traditional heat sinks made from highly conductive metals to manage heat. However, Vapour chamber cooling works differently.

Vapur champer technology uses a sealed liquid that vaporises when heated moving through a chamber to spread the heat evenly. The vapour then condenses back into liquid repeating the cycle. This system dissipates heat more efficiently while taking up minimal space and it doesn’t require extra components like fans.

The benefits of vapour chamber cooling are much more than just better heat management. This tech is crucial for maintaining performance and extending device life as processors are becoming more and more faster along with faster charging speeds.

This is especially important for the A19 Pro chipset, which is rumoured to power the iPhone 17 Pro models. Reports suggest it will reach clock speeds of up to 5GHz making effective cooling essential.

The industry expert and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted that vapour chamber cooling would be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro Max due to its demanding chipset. However, more recent updates now indicate that Apple will include this technology across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.

In business, one man’s loss is often another’s gain. TikTok might be soon winding up its operations in the US but this is surely a situation full of opportunities for competing apps. First, we heard about the Chinese app Rednote reaping some benefits, now Instagram is trying its best to give users what they might be missing once TikTok is banned. In a perfectly timed move, Instagram has just announced two new features for Reels in the US. Here’s what’s new.

New Ways to Engage on Instagram Reels

With TikTok’s availability in the US set to end this weekend, Instagram appears ready to welcome a potential influx of new users. To strengthen Reels (its short-form video feature and TikTok rival), Instagram is rolling out two fresh updates:

See What Your Friends Like

Instagram is making it easier to discover what your friends and followers are engaging with on Reels. At the top-right corner of the Reels tab, you’ll now see content your friends have liked or added notes to.

Start Conversations Effortlessly

A new reply bar will appear on Reels, allowing users to start conversations around the content they enjoy. This opens up more opportunities for your Reels to be noticed by people who don’t follow you yet.

Instagram shared, “We’re making it easier to see and engage with the content your friends are liking (or adding a note to) on reels at the top right corner of the Reels tab.”

These changes also make it possible to interact with friends’ activity on a Reel. For example, if a friend likes a video, you’ll have the option to reply to their like directly—creating more ways to connect and engage socially.

With TikTok’s US ban looming, Instagram could see significant growth in Reels usage.

Meta seems poised to capitalise on this moment and it wouldn’t be surprising to see even more updates for Reels in the near future. For Instagram, this could be a rare chance to cement its dominance in short-form video content.
