Google Pixel 10 May Skip Built-In Qi2 Magnets, But ‘Pixelsnap’ Accessories With Qi2 Magnets Are Coming

0

Highlights

  • Google may skip integrating magnets directly into the Pixel 10, opting instead for magnetic alignment via accessories.
  • Google is expected to launch Qi2.2-based Pixelsnap accessories including a magnetic charger, ring stand, and charging stand.
  • Pixel 10 could feature a 60W-capable CPS4041 chip, though full charging speeds aren’t confirmed.
  • The phone and accessories are likely to debut on August 20.

Multiple reports recently hinted that Google might finally be embracing magnetic wireless charging with the upcoming Pixel 10 series. However, this news now has a twist. We are hearing that instead of adding magnets directly into the phone, the company may rely on accessories to deliver the full Qi2 Magnet experience. Here’s what we know so far.

Qi2 Magnets in Google Pixel 10

A recent report says Google is preparing to launch a new line of “Pixelsnap” accessories later this year. These are based on the Qi 2.2 standard, which supports magnetic alignment and faster wireless charging.

However, another report from Android Headlines now suggests that the magnets won’t be part of the phone itself.

Instead, Google is expected to release first-party cases with built-in magnets to align with the Pixelsnap chargers. Some third-party “Made for Google” accessory partners will also offer similar cases. These accessories would help position the phone correctly for wireless charging and other magnet-based features, just like Apple’s MagSafe system.

This approach isn’t confirmed yet, but the move to add magnets only in cases suggests that Google may not build them into the Pixel 10 hardware. That would follow a common trend among Android brands that have been slow to adopt built-in magnetic charging tech.

Google’s ‘Pixelsnap’ Accessories

As for the accessories themselves, Android Authority has spotted some of them in marketing materials for retailers. Here’s what’s expected under the Pixelsnap branding –

  • Pixelsnap Charger – Likely a magnetic charging puck, similar to Apple’s MagSafe charger. It’s codenamed “STN4” and supports Qi 2.2 and MPP (Magnetic Power Profile).
  • Pixelsnap Ring Stand – Probably a phone stand with a circular design.
  • Pixelsnap Charger with Stand – Possibly a combo device for both charging and propping up your phone, maybe a successor to the Pixel Stand.

image

The trade listings mention colour options like Mist (white) and Rock Candy (black).

For reference, Mist typically becomes “Porcelain” and Rock Candy usually translates to “Obsidian”, though this time around, Google may tweak those colour names slightly for the Pixel 10 lineup.

Interestingly, the Pixel 10 is rumoured to feature a ConvenientPower CPS4041 chip that technically supports up to 60W wireless charging. But keep in mind, Google might not use the chip’s full potential, so don’t take this as confirmation of significantly faster charging speeds just yet.

Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 10 along with all these new Pixelsnap accessories including the magnetic case at its launch event, which is rumoured to take place on August 20.

FAQs

Q1. Will the Pixel 10 have built-in Qi2 magnets for wireless charging?

Answer. Instead of adding magnets directly into the phone, the company may rely on accessories to deliver the full Qi2 experience.

Q2. What are ‘Pixelsnap’ accessories?

Answer. Google is preparing to launch a new line of “Pixelsnap” accessories based on the Qi 2.2 standard, which supports magnetic alignment and faster wireless charging.

Q3. When is the Pixel 10 expected to launch?

Answer. Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 10 along with all these new Pixelsnap accessories, including the magnetic cases, at its launch event, which is rumoured to take place on August 20.

Galaxy Watch 8 Series Leaks Reveal New Design, Galaxy Watch Ultra Variant Might Be Making a Comeback

0

Highlights

  • Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 and 8 Classic featuring a squircle design and rotating bezel at its Unpacked event in New York next month.
  • Leaked renders suggest a refreshed “Watch 8 Ultra” may debut.
  • It will reportedly retain the same hardware while sporting a blue-silver design and a $699 price tag.

Samsung is getting ready to launch the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, likely at its next Unpacked event in New York next month. Both models are expected to feature the squircle-shaped case that first showed up with the Galaxy Watch Ultra last year. As usual, the Classic will include a rotating bezel.

Now, a new leak suggests Samsung might also be bringing out a new version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Leaked renders shared in a report by Android Headlines show what could be the “Galaxy Watch 8 Ultra,” alongside the regular Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic.

This so-called Galaxy Watch 8 Ultra might just be a refreshed version of the original Watch Ultra. It’s important to note that Samsung didn’t number the first Galaxy Watch Ultra when it launched with the Watch 7 lineup. So technically, it doesn’t belong to a specific generation.

This new version features a blue and silver look with a matching blue strap, suggesting it could simply be a new colour option.

The leak suggests that the hardware inside hasn’t changed and it reportedly uses the same processor and comes in the same size as the original Watch Ultra. However, it’s expected to be priced at $699, which is $50 more than before. That price bump could mean there are some upgrades, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

From the renders, it doesn’t look like this new Ultra variant has the rotating bezel, which rules out it being a version of the Classic. It also appears to have a more premium build than the standard model, adding to the mystery.

As for sizing, the Galaxy Watch 8 is expected to come in two size options, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic will stick to just one. The Classic is shown in black and silver in the leaked images, while the new Ultra version stands out in a striking blue.

Samsung is expected to make all of this official next month at its big launch event.

FAQs

Q1. What design changes are expected in the Galaxy Watch 8 and 8 Classic?

Answer. Both models are expected to feature the squircle-shaped case seen in the previous Galaxy Watch Ultra, with the Classic version continuing to offer a rotating bezel.

Q2. Is Samsung releasing a new version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra?

Answer. Yes. Leaked renders hint at a refreshed “Galaxy Watch 8 Ultra” with a blue and silver look and matching blue strap, possibly priced at $699, though it reportedly uses the same processor and comes in the same size as the previous model.

Q3. When will Samsung officially announce these new watches?

Answer. Samsung is expected to make all of this official next month at its big launch event in New York, likely during their next Unpacked event.

Share Spotify Songs in Real Time via Note

Instagram is rolling out a new feature that lets you share the song you’re currently listening to on Spotify directly through Notes, the short status updates that show up above your DMs. These Notes can display real-time updates of the track you’re playing, including the song title and artist.

image

This is different from the earlier music-sharing options. Instead of just linking to a song, the Note updates live with what you’re actually listening to. It builds on Instagram’s Spotify integration, which started last November when they added the “add to Spotify” button.

This update is part of Instagram’s new “Anyway” campaign.

In a blog post, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the campaign is meant to “reduce pressure and supercharge creativity” by giving creators more ways to express themselves and share what they love like music before posting to a wider audience.

Mosseri also mentioned that Instagram is developing more features to help users deal with the “excitement and nervousness that come with putting something out into the world.”

Instagram Grid Reorder Feature

image

Meanwhile, it seems another long-awaited feature is also finally on the way. It is the ability to rearrange your profile grid. Soon, you’ll be able to manually reorder your posts, so you can curate the look of your profile however you want, regardless of when you posted each photo or video.

In the announcement post on its newsroom, Mosseri said, “We’ll also make it possible to re-order the posts on your grid. We hope this added flexibility over how and where your content shows up helps you create and share without added pressure.”

Mosseri first hinted at this feature back in January, and now Instagram has confirmed it’s getting closer to release.

Instagram App for iPad

That’s not all, it seems an official Instagram app for iPads is finally also in the works.

A recent report from The Information revealed that Instagram is finally building a dedicated app for Apple’s tablet. As of now, iPad users have had to use a blown-up version of the iPhone app, which hasn’t been ideal.

Instagram had previously said the iPad audience wasn’t big enough to focus on, but that seems to be changing. With Meta looking to grow Instagram’s reach, especially as TikTok faces increasing government pressure, it looks like the company is finally moving ahead with features users have been asking for for years.

FAQs

Q.1 How does the new Instagram Notes feature work with Spotify?

Answer. Instagram now allows users to share the song they’re currently listening to on Spotify directly through Notes, which are short status updates above DMs. Unlike older options, the Note updates live with the track you’re playing, including the song title and artist.

Q2. Can users rearrange their Instagram profile grid now?

Answer. Instagram is introducing the ability to manually reorder your posts, so you can curate the look of your profile regardless of when you posted each photo or video.

Q3. Is there an Instagram app for iPads now?

Answer. Not yet, but Instagram is finally building a dedicated app for Apple’s tablet. Previously, iPad users had to rely on an enlarged version of the iPhone app, which wasn’t ideal.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Stops Shrapnel, Saves Soldier’s Life in Ukraine Conflict

0

Highlights

  • A Galaxy S25 Ultra saved a Ukrainian soldier’s life from shrapnel during shelling.
  • The phone was destroyed in the process, but Samsung responded by offering to repair or replace it.
  • The incident highlights the device’s robust build quality with a titanium frame.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra was appreciated after its release earlier this year for its powerful cameras, AI features and design upgrades. However, the flagship Galaxy phone is now in the spotlight for something entirely different. According to reports, the Galaxy smartphone has played a major role in saving a life during the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict. Here’s the full story.

How Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Saved A Soldier?

According to a post on a Ukrainian tech forum, a soldier claims that his Galaxy S25 Ultra shielded him from serious injury during a shelling attack. Sharing his experience on Samsung Ukraine’s website, the soldier explained that a large piece of shrapnel struck his phone directly.

The front glass shattered on impact, but the phone’s titanium frame absorbed the blow, stopping the shrapnel from going any further.

image

“During the shelling, a large fragment hit my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra directly. It pierced the screen, but got stuck in the strong titanium case and did not enter my body. The phone literally became armour between me and the wound,” the serviceman wrote and also added a photo of the S25 Ultra with the screen pierced by the fragment.

Meanwhile, South Korean publication Naver revealed that the phone was relatively new. The publication quoted the soldier as saying, “The sad thing is that I only used it for 3 weeks.”

While the phone was destroyed in the process, he believes it may have saved his life.

Samsung Responds

After the story went viral, Samsung’s local team in Ukraine responded by reaching out to the soldier. They thanked him for his service and trust in the product and confirmed that they would repair or replace the device free of charge.

This isn’t the first time a Samsung phone has been credited with saving lives in war zones. In the past, there have been reports of older Galaxy models stopping bullets during combat situations in Ukraine.

While the Galaxy S25 Ultra is praised for its performance and design, this incident shows that its build quality, especially the titanium frame, offers more than just a premium feel. In rare but extreme situations, it could even become an unexpected line of defence.

FAQs

Q1. How did the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra help save a soldier’s life in Ukraine?

Answer. During a shelling attack in Ukraine, a large piece of shrapnel hit the soldier’s Galaxy S25 Ultra. “It pierced the screen, but got stuck in the strong titanium case and did not enter my body,” the soldier reported.

Q2. How did Samsung respond after learning about the soldier’s story from Ukraine?

Answer. Samsung’s local team in Ukraine contacted the soldier, “thanked him for his service and trust in the product,” and confirmed they would “repair or replace the device free of charge.”

Q3. Has a Samsung phone ever helped protect someone in a war situation?

Answer. Yes, “there have been reports of older Galaxy models stopping bullets during combat situations in Ukraine,” highlighting the brand’s durable design across devices.

The upcoming POCO F7 has just popped up on Geekbench ahead of its expected India launch later this month. Spotted under the model number Xiaomi 25053PC47G, the listing confirms that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which was already widely anticipated.

In terms of performance, the POCO F7 scored 1937 in single-core and 6021 in multi-core tests on Geekbench 6. While these are decent numbers, they fall slightly short of the scores posted by the iQOO Neo 10, which also runs on the same chip.

The listing also confirms the phone will come with 12GB of RAM. Interestingly, POCO India head Himanshu Tandon recently ran a poll asking fans about their preferred RAM configuration, 80% voted for 12GB. Based on that, it’s likely the POCO F7 will be offered in 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB storage options.

Tandon also teased that the design of the Indian variant will be different from the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, the version launched in China. He called it “so sick” and suggested that it will stand out visually. Some live images have also surfaced online, hinting at a unique look for the device.
