The app is making consumer’s shopping experience hassle-free by enabling them a bouquet of user-friendly services including user-friendly login, in-app messaging services and easy payment options,

Titled as Farmers Family, which will be available on Android and IOS platforms, the app aims at providing a quick and efficient doorstep delivery of services as a part of an effort to restrict people’s movement further. Users can avail all the services with a click of button by simply login with their email or mobile number. The no-contact delivery will ensure that the veggies and fruits are delivered safely to the consumers.

Vikal Kulshreshtha, Co-founder & CEO, Farmers Family said, “We are excited to announce the mobile app which will make things easier for both retailers and the customers. Investment in mobile app will help us reap benefits for a longer period because Rewards/loyalty programs can create value addition through this app. Moreover, we are seeing a substantial rise of smartphone usage as smartphones are easily accessible, and this has transformed not just the mobile industry, but also the retail sector. We believe that this initiative will help us to stay connected with our consumers 24X7. There is no way that a consumer has to neglect his/her right to have fresh veggies and fruits due to the lack of availability of them.”

Farmers Family hopes to create a bridge between the farm and table. It provides healthy and quality farm produce directly from the farms to the consumers. The company has inhouse state-of-the-art machines, which are being used to hygienically clean and pack the products. Their team of agronomist and quality control keep a strict watch on the production, procurement, processing and packaging to ensure compliance with highest quality standards. They also have an appropriate mechanism in place to prevent post-harvest wastage technology driven business with minimum human interference.

“Our antimicrobial air purifier is completely IoT-enabled”

0

Although the increasing air pollution has always been a topic of discussion across the globe, the deteriorating quality of indoor air was never taken that seriously, especially in a country like ours, until the onset of COVID-19 pandemic that changed our lives like never before. The virulent disease taught us how one should be on his/her guard even inside the home or at the workplaces. While it has become a new normal for mankind, homegrown startup AiRTH took it as a challenge to protect people from airborne disease transmission like COVID-19 and air pollution through the world’s first anti-microbial air purifier, which is IoT-enabled that helps you to monitor crucial parameters such as real-time ambient air quality, humidity and temperature. Ramesh Kumar Raja caught up with Ravi Kaushik, an IIT-B alumnus and Founder and CEO of AiRTH, to understand the technicalities of this air purifier, its business proposition and how this technology is in the larger interest of the general public. Excerpts:

How old is AiRTH in India and how is its business going on, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic?

AiRTH is eight months old with more than two years of successful R&D experience in advanced air purification technologies. We took the challenge to protect people from airborne disease transmission like COVID-19 and air pollution through the world’s first anti-microbial air purifier.

We got our first breakthrough in June 2020 after we validated our SAVE technology for the reduction of SARS-CoV-2 sized particles after working for months on mathematical models, simulations, prototype development, and in-house testing.

In July 2020, we filed for a patent with IIT Bombay and did another testing for microbial reduction from the air itself which no other organization has done. IIT Kanpur’s SIIC has been very supportive and is now helping us with the deployment of our unit at various organizations and hospitals.

We have conducted pilot studies at various organizations like offices, restaurants, co-working spaces, hospitals, and gyms. Through this period, we could note that people want to be safeguarded against unseen viruses and air pollutants. And so, we kept working towards deploying more units and successfully sold more than 10 units to our early adopters. We are now working extensively to cater to the demand which we got as pre-orders on our website (www.airth.in). We are also working with a global elevator company to make elevators safer.

Can you please tell us about the technicalities involved and how it is different from others in the market?

The current problem we are facing today is a combination of airborne disease transmission and air pollution. Other air purifiers can protect from air pollution by capturing air pollutants in the filters but can itself become a source of disease transmission due to the microbial growth on their filters. This can again be resuspended into the air because of the high drag force due to the blower.

Whereas, we have developed the world’s first anti-microbial air purifier which works on the IIT Bombay patent filed DCD mechanism i.e. deactivate-capture-deactivate. It deactivates the pathogens inflight using ionization, UVC, and photocatalysis and has been optimized for higher residence time and intensity. Next, it captures viruses and fine particles using mechanical filtration assisted by inductive forces. The last step is deactivation that takes place due to OH radicals formed in the process of photocatalysis at disinfecting wavelength.

Since we are in the age of smartphones, how are you leveraging this technology?

Our antimicrobial air purifier is completely IoT-enabled. We use this technology to monitor crucial parameters such as real-time ambient air quality, humidity, and temperature.

As per CPWD guidelines, the relative humidity should be in the range of 40%-70% and temperature in the range of 24 to 30 degrees celsius to minimise the risk of airborne disease transmission. Our air purifiers rightly monitor these guidelines. We can analyse the data history and thus can take the necessary steps to maintain these crucial parameters in the advised range.

The device is handy enough to allow users to update it just like they update their mobile and laptops to get additional features. Currently, we are also working on remote diagnostics. This will allow us to check for any malfunctioning from anywhere in the world without having to physically attend to the device.

“The device is handy enough to allow users to update it just like they update their mobile and laptops to get additional features. Currently, we are also working on remote diagnostics. This will allow us to check for any malfunctioning from anywhere in the world without having to physically attend to the device”

Who are your target audience in India?

Our target markets are hospitals, restaurants, and offices. Precisely, we are targeting places where the chances of disease transmission are much higher. We are mainly concerned about OPD areas in hospitals, meeting rooms in offices, and sitting areas in restaurants.

What’s your vision for the Indian market?

We truly believe that the COVID-19 pandemic brought with itself several instances of awareness and now people are much more concerned about the air quality around them. The WHO has also been warning the world about future pandemics. Thus, we all need to be prepared for such an occurrence along with safeguarding ourselves against the long-term effects of air pollution.

We believe organisations will be responsible to provide clean and pathogen-free air to their customers and employees just like they provide clean water today. This is important to help revive the economy with collective efforts.

What are your strategy and plans to promote AiRTH in India?

AiRTH, in a nutshell, is here to function as a confidence booster for any organisation. Our technology induces confidence to help businesses & organisations restart with the post-COVID work life without any fear of contracting an airborne disease. Eventually, we are helping them boost productivity at their workplace and gain higher revenue.

Do you think the government needs to promote this sort of technology for the larger interest of the people?

Yes, our technology is in the larger interest of the general public. Hence, we think the government should promote this sort of technology. We have deployed our anti-microbial air purifier at various government agencies. We are in touch with different departments in the government and we are hopeful it will be deployed at a mass scale for the larger benefit of society.

Tinder will soon let you run background checks on your matches

0

Online Dating app, Tinder, will soon enable users to run background checks on their matches, helping you find any skeletons in the closet before getting anywhere near the bedroom.

According to an announcement made by Tinder’s parent company, Match Group, they have partnered with non-profit background check platform Garbo to integrate the service into its US app. While anyone can get a background check regardless of their gender or sexuality, the new feature is being introduced specifically with the protection of women and marginalized groups in mind.

In an official statement the company said, “For far too long women and marginalized groups in all corners of the world have faced many barriers to resources and safety. We recognize corporations can play a key role in helping remove those barriers with technology and true collaboration rooted in action.”

To do a background check in Tinder, all you’ll need to do is look up your match using either their first and last name or their first name and phone number. It sounds like a pretty simple tool to help you make more informed dating decisions.

Not all elements of your date’s shady past will come up in these checks though, so you will still have to get to know your potential paramour. While Garbo reveals public records of abuse and violent crime, it leaves out more minor matters like parking fines. It also excludes arrests relating to drug possession, due to the disparate way marginalized people are policed on this issue.

The background checks won’t be free either, though pricing details haven’t yet been determined.

Tinder will be begin testing Garbo over the next few months, with full app implementation expected later this year. Match Group isn’t stopping there though, aiming to incorporate background checks into its other US brands as well. The group currently owns several other popular online dating services, including PlentyOfFish, OkCupid, and Hinge.

Match Group also told Mashable that it has made a seven-figure financial contribution to Garbo, and will also be contributing time and resources to make it fully operational in their services.

As per the reports, Garbo can only work with the data available, and around 80 percent of sexual assaults are never reported. It’s also easy to circumvent these checks by using a fake name, which people are more likely to do if they’re hiding something or have sinister intentions.

Still, hopefully this new feature will help keep some women and marginalised people just a little bit safer.

What do you look for in a smartphone?

0

The smartphone market is flooding with the ‘next big thing’, captivated with remarkable features, cutting edge technologies, designs, and specifications, consumers have a lot to choose from.

New smartphones are coming out almost every month with amazing features you can’t live without, actually not really!

Having said that, some of the futuristic technology available in next-generation smartphones is really useful. But the question is, which features do you need and which are just the cherry on the top? Here is our feature guide that will help you to look out for when buying or considering a smartphone.

A long Lasting Battery:

This is arguably the most critical aspect to look out for when buying a smartphone, after all smartphones are considered essential for human lives now, so having a good, long lasting battery is a must.

If we talk about the technicality, manufacturers usually measure battery performance in miliampere-hours (mAh). On average, smartphone phone battery capacities can start from 1700mAh and can go all the way up to 5000mAh.

But choosing the amount of battery power you need depends on your lifestyle and usage. If you’re not heavy on apps and just need something simple, anywhere up to 2000mAh is usually enough for the day. If you’re the type who regularly plays games or uses lots of apps, then a phone with a higher battery capacity is the one you need.

Wireless Charging:

This is one feature that not very old and marking its place in the market quite aggressively. Wireless charging is a very handy feature to have, especially to those who are always on a go and don’t want to plug in their phones. You just set it down and it is charging. And in spite of what people say it is perfectly safe!

Operating System:

Doesn’t matter whether you prefer Android or iOS, each operating system has its own benefits!

Android gives you more control over the apps you want and how your phone interface works. You can change the app launcher, download different themes, and even install different apps that don’t necessarily come from Google Play Store.

iOS on the other hand, gives you a centralized source for your apps and content. Unlike Android phones, files are loaded to the iPhone using iTunes instead of a standard file explorer. The iOS App Store is also the sole provider of applications that your iPhone will use, making it easier for you to search and add apps to your library.

Whether you want the flexibility of Android or the simplicity of Apple, it’s entirely up to your preferences.

Display:

When choosing a smartphone, considering the display is very import. A smartphone is much enjoyed if you have the right display for you. You watch movies, play games and view photos on your mobile screen and you want the crispest display around.

The size and resolution of display depends on how you use your smartphone. If you often stream videos, edit photos or videos, or download and view movies, then a smartphone display ranging from 5.5-inch to 6-inch, full-HD or QHD resolution should be good enough for you.

Anything larger than a 6-inch display not just makes the handset extra bulky, but also difficult to carry around. If you are a regular user and largely use the smartphone for checking emails, chatting and browsing social media apps, then anything from 5-inch to 5.5-inch HD or full-HD display handsets is perfect.

A Great Camera:

This is again one feature that you should pay attention to, there are plenty of smartphones in the market offering best camera setups according to your preference and budget.

You don’t have to be a pro photographer to see the difference between modern phone cameras and the ones on your old flip-phone. A great camera is important for more than just great photos. You can use your camera for some surprising other things, like visual search.

Now when talk about camera it is just not the hardware but other things as well, like image stabilization, the megapixels, clarity, image sensors, and of course how well the smartphone click in low light.

Selfies camera is again one big feature that is in demand right now so you should also focus on the camera setup in the front when buying a smartphone.

NFC:

Do you still remember the time when sending a file to another smartphone was such a task, but now with the advancement of technology, data transfer has become effortless!

Near Field Communications is one special feature that allows your smartphone to transmit data to other phones and tablets in the vicinity. It’s really handy for sharing pictures and music. You can even use it to pay at stores and restaurants. Plenty of great Android and Windows phones offer NFC, but not Apple.

Plenty of Storage:

Storage is among the essentials to should have in a smartphone, most of the smartphones comes with anywhere between 32 to 256 GB of storage. And having some extra space is always a nice luxury, of course these days we save most of our media in the cloud but having a good storage is a requirement.

Fair Price!

Smartphones are a must nowadays, but buying a smartphone at a fair price is almost a difficult task. Most of the features listed in this article are difficult to find in a budgeted phone.

When we say fair we don’t mean cheap in price, but obviously we all want to spend as little money on a smartphone with these features as possible.

There are a lot of smartphones available in the market packed with these features but almost all of them are on the pricy side. So we might have to choose carefully about our preferences in the features, some of you don’t need a power packed processor, or some of you don’t need a top-notch camera setup.

So we hope depending upon your own preferences you can come to a decision!

Mobile Applications we want for the Tomorrow’s World!

0

From being a luxury to an absolute need, mobile phones have definitely witnessed a massive transformation in the past few decades. While the initial invention of mobiles made it possible for us to connect, today, there is much more to achieve with smartphones than just make some calls. Today’s mobiles are the most handy and cutting-edge devices available commercially.

However, it doesn’t stop there.

The smartphone industry is at its peak right now, and innovative apps have played a major role in its success. With each passing day, the capabilities of these applications are growing leaps and bounds. In 2021, the app development field will again experience some pioneering developments to transform the way we leverage these quintessential devices.

The apps have dominated the mobile market completely. From small to big businesses, everyone is getting their dedicated mobile apps to lure more customers through mobile devices. Unquestionably, there is a huge variety of cool products and programs created today. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean that society stopped complaining. Complaints only appear because of certain problems. Each one of them can always be solved. Today it can be done due to a simple mobile app.

We have come up with these amazing mobile app ideas that would help consumers in the upcoming decade.

Public Transport Navigator

Although we have Google Maps but it doesn’t always show the estimated time of arrival of public transport accurately. Of course, this problem is solved by separate web resource and by putting GPS sensors in public transport. However, the users have no possibility to monitor the map constantly.

Owing to this, people often don’t make it to the transport on time and have to wait for another one or to call a taxi. However, this problem can be solved with two actions, Integration of schedule and tracking the transport into one app, and Creation of a system of notification of the need to go to the stop.

Respectively, the user can do his business at home, at work, or somebody else’s house, and he’ll still make it to the right transport.

Online Exam

Despite the damage caused by a coronavirus, a pandemic has shown that many things can be executed remotely. The simplest example is the exams.

Most schools and universities around the globe decided not to call the students but to hold classes online. But this surely effected the exam system. Though there are some valid concerns about how to conduct the exams online but there are solutions available at this point of time which can be developed into perfection. For transparency and honesty software can be used, which prohibits the use of certain programs when taking the examination like standard messengers, search engines and online encyclopaedias.

If you ask about the quality of the exams, you can receive a positive response. However, the studying was more difficult because of the lack of materials, and difficulties in communicating with fellow students and professors.

This is precisely why it’s needed to create exam taking and study apps with functions like, creation of online chats, support of necessary literature, possibility to call a teacher at certain hours, creation of collective presentations to study the material or to solve the problems, completion of preliminary tests.

As a result, the students will be able to study for exams faster and better under all conditions. Most significantly, they will have the opportunity to keep in touch with fellow students and professors.

Analysis of Authenticity of Goods

Sale of second-hand goods has become extremely popular in recent years. This is facilitated by the development of services like Amazon, Alibaba, e-Bay. But the major challenge of this activity is a big number of poor quality goods. Unfortunately, many consumers fall victims to frauds and buy a fake under the guise of the original.

The thing is, current production capabilities allow to very accurately fake almost all goods. Only a real professional or robot can distinguish the real from fake. For this exact reason, the most topical thing today is the apps, which can determine the authenticity and specific model of the goods by their appearance or the appearance of the box.

It will significantly lower the level of such fraud. Moreover, administrators of the respective marketplaces will have fewer problems caused by placing poor quality goods.

Emergency Alerts

Street crimes are a part of life in all countries, especially amid these unprecedented times. However, aside from this, people often need help because of health issues, fall of the wall, tree, or other force-majeure circumstances.

If it happens in a public place especially in the daytime, then help will arrive quickly. But how to call for help in remote areas, in particular, in the evening when there’s no one on the streets?

The way out is an app, which will notify of the alert all phones that are within a radius close to the victim, more importantly police. All it requires is the allowance to use geolocation. Such an app can solve several problems at once including, harassment and violence against women, street thefts, sudden deterioration of health, and disaster.

The only element, which can’t be calculated is a civic consciousness. However, due to this app, there’s a possibility to inform several hundred people in the neighborhood of the need for help. Respectively, the probability of getting help several times increases.

Health Monitor

Today, most of the healthcare providers and big hospitals are investing in healthcare app development to improve the condition as well offering quick and quality services to patients. Most of the healthcare organization seeks developing the healthcare app to eliminate the communication gap between doctors and patients.

But what we really need is an easy and immediate access to health care providers, and developing of an app for this will help us in fixing appointments, review of prescriptions and communicate with doctors via video call for online diagnosis or treatment.

Health Monitoring app will not only monitor and keep track of your health but also will automatically make appointments for your regular health check-ups. This way, the user will not have to remember to make appointments manually.

Wearable devices such as smart wrist watches can also get associated with such apps.

Life Assistance

Amid the lockdown, a lot of people faced problems with no human involvement and everything shut. So in such times a life assistance app will help people with everyday tasks like cooking, repairing a fan or computer, performing minor renovations, repairing a flat tire, and more.

Now this can be made only with advancement of AI.

During the lockdown a lot of people were stuck alone in remote areas and in other cities or even countries, so a life assistance app will not only help with daily household works but also keep a check on our mental health.

People away from their families or in stress because work can easily get a nudge through the app about how to take care of ourselves. Helping out with insomnia, or simply calming us down. This kind of app will be really helpful keeping in mind if such pandemic situation occur again in the future.

PhoneParLoan joins forces with Bajaj Auto Finance to create 10,000 blue-collar jobs

0

In a bid to reverse COVID-19-induced job losses, PhoneParLoan – a mobile-first lender that serves thin-file customers – has joined forces with Bajaj Auto Finance to create 10,000 blue-collar jobs in India. As part of the association, PhoneParLoan will help its bike loan and insurance customers to explore job opportunities in the on-demand delivery space.

The ongoing pandemic has severely affected the job landscape and triggered a domino effect in the market, with India registering its highest unemployment rate in 2020 in at least four decades. However, as footfalls across retail outlets decreased to prevent accidental transmission, people have moved to order essential supplies via delivery platforms – sparking the demand for more delivery professionals

To fulfill this demand, PhoneParLoan and Bajaj Auto Finance will refer relevant candidates to delivery companies such as DTDC, Bisleri, and others. PhoneParLoan has already conducted its pilot run with DTDC and generated a very positive result. It has further supported the new joiners of DTDC and Bisleri (as a part of its Bisleri Internshala Program) by financing their bikes via the platform. PhoneParLoan has further developed a unique underwriting methodology for Bajaj Auto Finance to address this particular use case. The approach improves the ability to understand employee delivery and the candidates applying for bike loans, especially those who need a job and match the desired profile.

Ashwin Bhambri, Co-Founder & CEO, PhoneParLoan said, “The COVID-19 outbreak has led to massive layoffs, with people on the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum amongst most impacted by the disruption. Our latest initiative, launched in association with Bajaj Auto Finance, aims to address this situation. We aim to enable employment opportunities for at least 10,000 people across leading delivery companies in India.”

Bajaj Auto Finance and PhoneParLoan customers will be able to share their résumés while applying for a bike loan, which will then be passed on to partner companies. In doing so, both lenders will contribute to the growth of India’s bike-based delivery ecosystem while also reversing the COVID-19-induced job losses.
