OnePlus, renowned for its innovative smartphones, is now reportedly venturing deeper into the smartwatch market.
Rumours are swirling about the anticipated release of their latest smartwatch, which might be a game-changer in its segment.
Internally codenamed “star,” the smartwatch is expected to sport a round display boasting a resolution of 466 x 466.
It is anticipated to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform, further optimized with the BES 2700 co-processor for efficient low-power tasks.
Two elegant colours are in the lineup: Black and a unique pastel blue-tinted White.
In terms of operating systems, while the Chinese variant might run on ColorOS for Watch 6.0 (based on Android 11 Go), global iterations are expected to harness the potential of Google’s dedicated Wear OS platform, especially with the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor under the hood.
The rumoured features seem impressive, positioning this watch to rival established players.
From two operation buttons, a crown, and a barometer, it’s designed to support ECG, Always On Display, blood oxygen measurement, sleep and workout tracking, and even stress monitoring.
Notably, the inclusion of fist clench gestures and eSIM support adds to its cutting-edge appeal.
In essence, with the potential backing of Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and eSIM support, this upcoming OnePlus smartwatch could be a formidable contender in the Android smartwatch sector, locking horns with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series and the Google Pixel Watch 2.
Given OPPO’s recent Watch 4 Pro release in China, the expectations are soaring for OnePlus’s international offering.
