The underpriced Nothing Phone (2a) seems to be selling better than expected since the device has sold out due to unexpected demand.
PSA: Phone (2a) is selling better than expected, and we expect to face stockouts in the next few weeks. If you need it soon, please lock in your order in the next 7-10 days to avoid delays.
— Carl Pei (@getpeid) March 19, 2024
“Back in April, Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, had said that some colour variants were sold out. Currently, according to him, “most” Phone (2a) units are all sold out on various channels.
Pei first started hinting at possible stockouts mid-March when he said that the Phone (2a) was “selling better than expected.”
The exact sales number is not known, but Nothing said that it sold over 60,000 units in the first hour of its launch and over 100,000 units in the first 24 hours.
Even if there were only a fraction of that strength in the first movement, it can explain the current stock situation.
The Nothing Phone (2a) brings an attractive list of specifications for its price range and it comprises a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, up to 12GB RAM, and a dual 50MP rear camera setup.
It is the most budget-friendly offering from Nothing and it stands to reason that a lot of customers have shown an interest in the product.
In other news, Nothing has rolled out the OS 2.5.5a update for the Phone (2a) worldwide, including ChatGPT integration and new features.
Users can now access their AI assistant right on their devices, use ChatGPT widgets on the home screen, and enjoy some camera improvements such as improved color consistency, HDR portrait brightness, and better app launch performance.
While specific sales figures are hard to come by, the fact that the demand for its cheap flagship killer remains high and the firm is rolling out new software updates at such a rapid pace indicates a lot about Nothing’s commitment to handling the high demand for its cheap flagship killer.
