For the first time, Nothing is partnering with MediaTek, diverging from its previous reliance on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
The Dimensity 7200 Pro, co-engineered with MediaTek, is tailored specifically for the Nothing Phone (2a), promising a perfect blend of power efficiency and speed.
This strategic decision, as explained by Carl Pei, is driven by the goal of achieving the optimal balance essential for the (upper) mid-range 2a model.
This partnership not only highlights Nothing’s commitment to innovation but also MediaTek’s growing influence in the semiconductor industry.
Cutting-Edge Design and Specifications
The Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to pack in a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals.
Camera technology leaps forward with two Samsung sensors: a 50MP primary ISOCELL S5KG9 with OIS and a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 for ultrawide shots. A 32MP front camera is also reported to be present for selfie enthusiasts.
Under the hood, the Phone (2a) offers configurations of 8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage, ensuring that the device caters to a wide range of user needs.
In addition to the new processor, the Phone (2a) will feature 8GB or 12GB RAM + 128GB or 256GB storage.
Powering the smartphone will be a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging. Out of the box, the smartphone will run on the Nothing OS 2.5.2 based on Android 14.
The starting price of Phone (2a) is said to be under Rs 25,000, with the base variant potentially available for around Rs 23,999 in India.
A Final Look with New Renders
New renders, exclusively made by Smartprix, have emerged for the Nothing Phone (2a), likely showcasing the final design.
They show that the phone will house a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper and looks to have symmetrical bezels.
The volume rocker is on the left edge, while the power button is present on the right spine.
The Nothing Phone (2a) has a boxy chassis with rounded corners for better grip on hands.
At the back, you have dual camera sensors aligned horizontally inside a center-placed circular island, with LED lights just around the camera module.
The Nothing Phone (2a) will officially be announced in the Indian markets on 5th March which will also be a simultaneous unveiling for the UK market as well.
