Apple launched the new Mac mini with M2 and M2 pro with the 14 inch & 16 inch MacBook Pro powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets.

These are the newest silicon processors from Apple that boast of incredible power efficiency, performance, and battery life, among other things. Apple claims the new MacBook Pro models with the M2 Pro and M2 Max under the hood can take on demanding tasks such as effects rendering up to 6x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro.

The M1 chip in the Mac mini is Apple’s first System on a Chip for Mac, integrating GPU, CPU, RAM, and other components for improved performance and efficiency. The M1 in the Mac mini has an 8-core CPU with four high-efficiency cores and four high-performance cores along with an integrated GPU that has 8 cores.

In the Mac mini, the M1 chip’s CPU offers 3x faster performance than the previous-generation entry-level model and the GPU offers 6x better graphics performance. Machine learning workloads are up to 15x faster thanks to the 16-core Neural Engine, and the Mac mini is 5x faster than the best-selling Windows desktop in its price range.

There are no design changes to the Mac mini, and it continues to feature a flat, square-shaped 1.4-inch thick, 7.7-inch wide aluminum unibody enclosure. The M1 Mac mini is available in Silver, while the Intel Mac mini is available in Space Gray.

One side of the Mac mini features a host of ports, while the other features an LED that lets you know when it’s on. There’s an Apple logo at the top of the device, and other than the Apple logo and port labels, there are no other markings on the visible portion of the machine.

Though the exterior of the Mac mini is unchanged over the last several generations, Apple redesigned the interior in 2018 to add a new thermal architecture to accommodate higher-powered 8th-generation chips and all-flash storage. Compared to pre-2018 Mac mini models, it features a bigger internal fan with twice as much airflow, and expanded vents, all of which also accommodate the M1 chip.

Apple has outfitted the Mac mini with multiple ports, allowing it to be used with several peripherals at once. Apple Mac mini Memory

One of the features of the M1 is a unified memory architecture, or UMA, which unifies high-bandwidth, low-latency memory into a single pool. This means that the technologies in the M1 chip can access the same data without copying it between multiple memory pools for dramatic performance improvement across the entire system. The Mac mini supports up to 16GB of unified memory, with the base model shipping with 8GB.

The 8-core GPU in the M1 chip is integrated (which means it is not a separate chip), and Apple calls it the world’s fastest integrated graphics in a personal computer. It can execute 25,000 threads at a time and combines improved graphics performance with lower power consumption. According to Apple, the GPU in the M1 can render a timeline up to 6x faster in Final Cut Pro and editing high-resolution photos with Affinity Photo is up to 4x faster.

Apple Mac mini Speed Improvements

The M1 in the Mac mini features an 8-core CPU and an integrated 8-core GPU. The CPU has four high-efficiency cores and four high-performance cores. When doing simple tasks like browsing the web or reading email the Mac mini will engage the high-efficiency cores, but for more system-intensive tasks like photo and video editing, the high-performance cores are used.

According to Apple, the M1 chip’s CPU is up to 3x faster than the Intel chip in the prior Mac mini, and GPU speeds are up to 6x faster.

The M1 is designed to offer higher performance at every power level compared to competing laptop chips. It offers 2x faster CPU performance than the latest PC laptop chip while using 25 percent of the power.

ProRes transcoding is up to 3.4x faster with the M1 chip, building a project in Xcode is up to 3x faster, and Logic Pro supports 2.8x more Amp Designer plug-ins.

Apple Mac mini RAM

Base M1 models come with 8GB RAM, which can be customized up to 16GB. Higher-end Intel models support up to 64GB RAM. Tests suggest that there isn’t a whole lot of difference between M1 models with 8GB RAM and 16GB RAM except when doing heavily system intensive tasks.

Neural Engine

There’s a new, more advanced Neural Engine in the Mac mini that is up to 15x faster for machine learning tasks. The Neural Engine has a 16-core design that can execute 11 trillion operations per second, and along with machine learning accelerators, it makes ML-based tasks much faster.

Apple today announced the new 14 & 16 inch MacBook M2 Pro and M2 Max, Apple’s next-generation pro silicon that brings even more power-efficient performance and battery life to pro users.

MacBook Pro Memory

New 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro: Design

Apple made some huge changes to the MacBook Pro in 2021, with the launch of a new 14-inch model and a new display with thinner bezels and ProMotion, along with the removal of the Touch Bar and the addition of a slew of ports. Unsurprisingly, the 2023 MacBook Pro is expected to “stay roughly the same” on the outside. In fact, as Mark Gurman put it in a January newsletter: “same design”.

In November AppleLeaksPro claimed that the upcoming M2 MacBook Pro will be “worth the wait” despite a lack of “design or I/O changes.”

The MacBook Pro continues to use the same aluminum unibody design (and come in silver or space gray), but the overall shape of the machine is flatter and less curved at the bottom.

Available in 14 and 16-inch sizes, the MacBook Pro features slim bezels at the top and the sides, a notch at the top for the camera, an overhauled keyboard that’s all black, a large trackpad, and additional ports at the left and right sides. There continues to be a large Force Touch trackpad, and there are two speaker grilles at the sides of the keyboard.

Compared to their prior-generation Intel counterparts, the new MacBook Pro models are heavier, and the 16-inch model is thicker. The 14-inch model measures in at 12.31 inches long, 8.71 inches wide, and 0.61 inches thick, and it weighs in at 3.5 pounds. It’s larger than the prior model in every dimension, but it is just about the same thickness.

The 16-inch model measures in at 14.01 inches long, 9.77 inches wide, and 0.66 inches thick, so it is a tad shorter, but also a tad wider and a little but thicker (the prior model was 0.64 inches thick). It weighs in at 4.7 pounds, which is 0.4 pounds heavier than the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro that it replaces.

It’s worth noting that 16-inch machines with the M1 Max chip is just a bit heavier than machines with the M1 Pro chip because of the size of the chip.

There is a logo on the top casing of the machine as is standard, but the “MacBook Pro” labeling that used to be below the display has been removed. It has been relocated to the bottom of the MacBook Pro.

Internally, the design of the MacBook Pro optimizes internal space and is machined around an advanced thermal system that is able to move 50 percent more air than the previous-generation machines, even when fan speeds are lower.

Apple says that the new thermal design lets the MacBook Pro provide “phenomenal” sustained performance while remaining cool and quiet. For most everyday tasks, the fans do not turn on.

MacBook Pro Keyboard & Trackpad


Apple overhauled the keyboard of the new MacBook Pro, and it features an all-black base that does away with the lighter aluminum that used to be between the keys on prior models.

The keyboard no longer features an OLED Touch Bar, with Apple instead replacing it with a full-sized row of 12 function keys and a much larger Escape key on the left. On the right, there’s a Touch ID key that features a circle-shaped Touch ID fingerprint reader.

Apple used arrow keys in the traditional inverted T-arrangement, and it is worth noting that this is a scissor switch keyboard that is more durable than the butterfly keyboard that Apple used in some prior MacBook Pro models. It holds up better to crumbs, dust, and debris, which could cause failure with the older MacBook Pro keyboards.

All of the keys are backlit and adjust based on the lighting in the room thanks to an ambient light sensor.

Below the keyboard, there’s a large Force Touch trackpad that is unchanged from prior models. The Force Touch trackpad has no traditional buttons and is powered by a set of Force Sensors, allowing users to press anywhere on the trackpad to get the same response. A Taptic Engine powered by magnets provides users with tactile feedback when using the trackpad, replacing the feel of a physical button press.

The Force Touch trackpad supports a light press, which is used as a regular click, along with a deeper press or “force click” as a separate gesture that does things like offer up definitions for a highlighted word.

MacBook Pro Ports

The MacBook Pro models are equipped with an SDXC card slot (which supports UHS-II with speeds up to 250MB/s and UHS-I SD cards with speeds up to 90MB/s), an HDMI 2.0 port that supports a 4K display at up to 60Hz, a 3.5mm headphone jack with added support for high-impedance headphones, and three Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports that support speeds of up to 40Gb/s in addition to serving as a DisplayPort and allowing for charging.

Apple also brought back the MagSafe port and an accompanying braided MagSafe cable for charging. The MagSafe port is almost identical to the MagSafe port that was used prior to 2016, offering up a breakaway design that causes the cable to disconnect if it’s pulled.
The MagSafe port also offers faster charging on the 16-inch machine, but both machines can charge over MagSafe or the Thunderbolt ports.

MacBook Pro Display

Both MacBook Pro models are equipped with a “Liquid Retina XDR (Extreme Dynamic Range) display,” which uses the same mini-LED technology introduced in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The 16-inch MacBook Pro actually features a 16.2-inch display with a 3456-by-2234 native resolution at 254 pixels per inch.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro features a 14.2-inch display with a 3024-by-1964 native resolution at 254 pixels per inch. Aside from differences in size and the resulting difference in resolution, the displays of the 14 and 16-inch models are identical.

Both are using mini-LED technology with 1,000 nits sustained brightness and 1,600 nits peak brightness, with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. The displays offer support for a billion colors, along with P3 Wide color for bright, true-to-life colors.

Users can expect HDR content to come to life with more detail in shadows, brilliant highlights, deeper blacks, and more vivid colors than were previously available. This is enabled through the 10,000 mini-LEDs that are grouped into individually controlled local dimming zones.

When displaying SDR content, the display can deliver a peak brightness of 500 nits. The display’s 1,600 nits peak brightness capability is reserved for HDR content only.

True Tone, a feature that is designed to match the white balance of the display to the ambient lighting in the room, is supported. Apple devices have used True Tone for years, and it is designed to make viewing a Mac’s screen easier on the eyes because it takes into account outside lighting and color temperature.

New MacBook Pros support ProMotion technology for adaptive refresh rates ranging from 24Hz to 120Hz. When viewing a static webpage that doesn’t require a high refresh rate, the MacBook Pro’s display adopts the lower refresh rate to preserve battery life, but when gaming, scrolling, or doing other activities where a higher refresh rate is needed for smoother content, the higher frame rates kick in.

Bezels on both machines measure in at 3.5mm for the top and sides, but there is a notch below the top bezel that accommodates the front-facing camera. Overall, the display enclosure is less than 4mm thick.

14- inch and 16- inch MacBook Pro: Specs

While the outside of the MacBook Pro will look the same, the inside will be different. Based on the M2 and the M1 variants that Apple launched in 2021, we estimate that the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips will offer the following:

* M2 Pro: Up to 12-core CPU, up to 20-core GPU, up to 48GB RAM
* M2 Max: Up to 12-core CPU, 38-core GPU, up to 96GB RAM

MacBook Pro Enhanced Connectivity

MacBook Pro now features Wi-Fi 6E3 for faster wireless connectivity, as well as more advanced HDMI, to support 8K displays up to 60Hz and 4K displays up to 240Hz.

These new capabilities build on the versatile connectivity options already in MacBook Pro, including three Thunderbolt 4 ports for high-speed connection to peripherals, an SDXC card slot, and MagSafe 3 charging.

MacBook Pro RAM

Geekbench benchmarks have appeared for what seems to be a new MacBook Pro and those results indicate that we could see up to 96GB RAM inside–up from a 64GB maximum with the M1 Max.

It’s no surprise that the new MacBook Pro models will offer more RAM. Apple upped the RAM in the M2 MacBooks from a maximum of 16GB in the M1 to 24GB in the M2. We had already predicted that a similar increase could theoretically mean we see up to 48GB RAM in the Pro and 96GB RAM in the Max.

A report by Macrumors claimed the new MacBook Pro will feature “very high-bandwidth, high-speed RAM,” which could mean that the new models use LPDDR5X RAM, which would bring 300GB/s (M2 Pro) and 600 GB/s (M2 Max) 300GB/s memory bandwidth. The current models deliver 200GB/s and 400GB/s, respectively.

MacBook Pro Battery

The battery life of the 14-inch MacBook Pro is 17 hours while the 16-inch offers 21 hours, which is already the best battery life ever offered in a Mac laptop. Any gains in the battery life could be down to improvements in the processor. LeaksApplePro also notes that there will be “less heat,” which could be related to a more efficient processor and better battery life.

MacBook Pro Wireless Connectivity

The MacBook Pro supports 802.11ax WiFi 6 connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0, the latest WiFi and Bluetooth protocols. There is no WiFi 6E support, which adds a 6GHz band to the WiFi 6 standard.

MacBook Pro Speakers

There’s a high-fidelity six-speaker sound system in the MacBook Pro that includes two tweeters and four force-cancelling woofers for 80 percent more bass. Apple says it is the best audio system in a notebook.

The speaker system supports wide stereo sound, and the MacBook Pro offers support for spatial audio when playing music or video with Dolby Atmos on the built-in speakers. When connected to the AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max, dynamic head tracking is supported.

There’s also a three-microphone array that supports a high signal-to-noise ratio with a 60 percent lower noise floor that can capture even subtle sounds. Directional beamforming allows for crisp, clear voice sound.

MacBook Pro SSDs

Apple added 2x faster SSDs to the new MacBook Pro, with both models offering up to 8TB of storage space. The SSDs support speeds up to 7.4GB/s.

MacBook Pro Camera

Apple added an improved 1080p camera to the MacBook Pro, which is bolstered by the image signal processor built into the M1 Pro and Max. The image signal processor makes sure images are sharp, and allows for natural-looking skin tones, plus the camera itself brings better low-light performance.

MacOS Ventura

With macOS Ventura, MacBook Pro delivers even more performance and productivity. Powerful updates like Continuity Camera bring videoconferencing features to any Mac, including Desk View, Center Stage, Studio Light, and more. Handoff in FaceTime allows users to start a FaceTime call on their iPhone or iPad and fluidly pass it over to their Mac, or vice versa. And tools like Stage Manager automatically organize apps and windows, so users can concentrate on the task at hand and still see everything in a single glance.

MacBook Pro and the Environment

MacBook Pro is designed to minimize its impact on the environment, including 100 percent of the following recycled materials: aluminum in the enclosure, rare earth elements in all magnets, tin in the solder of the main logic board, and gold in the plating of multiple printed circuit boards. It also features 35 percent or more recycled plastic in multiple components, and meets Apple’s high standards for energy efficiency. MacBook Pro is free of numerous harmful substances, and 97 percent of the packaging is fiber based, bringing Apple closer to its goal of completely removing plastic from its packaging by 2025.

Today, Apple is carbon neutral for global corporate operations, and by 2030, plans to be 100 percent carbon neutral across the entire manufacturing supply chain and all product life cycles. This means that every Apple device sold, from component manufacturing, assembly, transport, customer use, charging, all the way to recycling and material recovery, will have net-zero climate impact.

When the vapor condenses back to water, it leaves behind any mineral residue.
The resulting condensed liquid is distilled water.

Distilled water is the process of water purification using a water distiller water treatment process that mimics mother nature’s natural filtration process, also known as the hydrologic cycle. Under the natural process, the sun evaporates water and turns it into clouds, which later return to the earth in the form of precipitation. Distilled water is produced using the same method through a water distiller, which boils water into steam and then, cools and condenses that steam back into liquid. In the process, anything that won’t turn to steam is left behind as impurities and what you get is purified water.

The differences between distilled water & purified water are that distilled water is actually a type of purified water. Distilled water does not have minerals or contaminants after the distillation process is complete. On the other hand, minerals can still be present in purified water even if chemicals and contaminants are removed during the purification process.

Top 5 Ways to Make Distilled Water at Home

Make Distilled Water Using a Glass Bowl

1. Fill half a stainless steel vessel with tap water.

2. Now put a glass bowl in the half-filled vessel and make sure the glass bowl floats above the surface. If it does not float, place a baking rack at the bottom of the vessel and put the glass bowl to keep it above the surface.

3. Place the vessel on the stove and ensure the water in the pot is boiling.

4. Once the water starts boiling, invert the vessel lid on top and fill it with ice to create a hot/cold barrier and a condensation effect.

5. Let the water in the vessel continue to boil. As the water boils, the steam will rise and condense on the vessel’s lid. The condensed water will then drip into the glass bowl we placed in the middle of the vessel floating. Let the distillation process continue until you the glass bowl have enough distilled water.

Make Distilled Water Using a Glass Bottle

1. Take two glass bottles with one bottle that preferably curves outward from the neck.
2. Fill the Tap water in one of the bottles.
3. Put the neck of both bottles together and tie them using duct tape.
4. Fill a large stainless steel pot with boiling water enough to cover the glass bottle that was filled with tap water earlier.
5. Tilt the bottles in a way that ensures the evaporated distilled water is collected in the empty glass bottle tied to the bottle with tap water.
6. Rest an ice pack on top of the bottle to create a hot/cold barrier.
7. Keep the vessel water boiling and continue the process until enough distilled water is collected in the empty bottle.

Make Distilled Water Using Rainwater

1. Take a large clean container and place it outside to store the rainwater.
2. Once the rain stops, keep the container with rainwater outside for 48 hours at least in order to dissipate the minerals.
3. Once the impurities and minerals are dissipated at the bottom of the container, remove the clean distilled water from the top of the container and store it in a clean container.

Make Distilled Water in Microwave

1. Take a microwave-safe container and fill it with tap water
2. Place it inside the microwave with another microwave-safe bowl floating inside.
3. Do not put the lid on the container.
4. Once the water comes to a boiling point, remove the container and put the lit with an ice pack on top to create a hot/cold barrier.
5. Repeat the process until enough water is collected in the bowl placed inside the large container.

Make Distilled water in Kettle the Right Way

1. Fill a kettle with tap water and bring it to boil.
2. Once the water starts boiling, remove the lid from the kettle.
3. Do not turn off the kettle and simply let it continue to heat the water.
4. Take a plastic bowl and invert it above the kettle and hold it for at least 5 minutes. This way the steam escapes and gets trapped inside the plastic bow.
5. When the same condensed back to liquid form, you get the distilled water. This, however, is a slow process and would need to be repeated many times to even get a little bit of distilled water.

Is distilled water safe to drink?

Distilled water is completely safe for use, but the problem of distilling is that it removes all of the helpful minerals like calcium and magnesium that occur naturally in tap water.
It isn’t generally recommended to use distilled water as your daily drinking water, and you may find that it lacks flavor.

Choose the storage container you use for distilled water carefully. Distilled water’s lack of nutrients can leach chemicals from the container it’s stored in. If you plan to use the water immediately, any container will do but for long-term storage it’s best to use glass or high-quality stainless steel.
