Samsung has been constantly claiming that the upcoming Galaxy S25 would carry a “top-of-the-line” camera. Now recent reports give a contrary picture that may leave many Samsung fans disappointed.

If recent reports are to be believed, Samsung plans to keep the same 50MP Camera from the Galaxy S22 for the next two generations of Galaxy S-Series phones as well. To refresh your memory, Samsung has been using the same 50MP camera sensor in its Galaxy S series since 2022’s Galaxy S22.

The next two generations of Galaxy S Series in question here include the Galaxy S25 and S26.

Popular Tipster Ice Universe on X (previously Twitter) recently claimed that Samsung has decided to stick with this same camera for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26.

EMBED Tweet –

If these latest reports are true, this would mean that we will see the same camera across five generations of Samsung’s flagship phones. This would surely spark some disappointment among fans.

We have seen Samsung using this same 50MP sensor previously in Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Fold 5. And that’s not all. Many reports have also confirmed the same sensor for the upcoming Fold 6 as well.

For those of you who aren’t aware, the Galaxy S24 uses the Samsung ISOCELL (S5K)GN3 main sensor. This comes with video recording capabilities ranging from 8K at 30fps to 240fps in Full HD.

Meanwhile, other competitive brands such as Google, OnePlus, and Xiaomi have already adopted larger camera sensors. The camera upgrades of these brands provide a better overall camera performance.

For example, the Pixel 9 and Xiaomi 14 feature a 1/1.31″ sensor. The OnePlus 12, on the other hand, equips a 1/1.43″ sensor.

The 50MP sensor used in S22 was a significant upgrade when it was first introduced. It was replacing the 12MP camera used in earlier Galaxy S models, other than the Ultra versions.

However, many experts and the Samsung fanbase have constantly voiced their opinions that a camera sensor upgrade for the future Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 is long overdue.

As of now, it can be confirmed that Galaxy S25 will be getting a modest upgrade. As per rumours, it most likely getting a new camera ring design and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. On the other hand, charging specs will reportedly remain the same as its predecessor.

Faqs

Q1. Will the Galaxy S25 and S26 have a new camera sensor?

Answer. While Samsung plans to stick with the 50MP sensor, other brands like Google, OnePlus, and Xiaomi have adopted larger camera sensors, such as the 1/1.31″ sensor in the Pixel 9 and Xiaomi 14, and the 1/1.43″ sensor in the OnePlus 12, which generally offer better overall camera performance.

Q3. What other upgrades are expected for the Galaxy S25?

Answer. The Galaxy S25 is rumoured to receive a new camera ring design and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. However, its charging specifications are expected to remain the same as its predecessor.

Google Maps and Google Earth are getting some exciting new updates. The new features are aimed at making navigation and exploration easier.

This new improvement will bring more accurate pictures for users to explore.

Street View is also getting one of its biggest updates. It is adding new imagery from 80 new countries.

An example of Google Earth’s historical imagery includes, “…black-and-white photo of San Francisco in 1938, taken by Oakland Airport pilots. During this period, you can see that ports were mainly used for shipping and industry — compared to the 2022 image, where you see the piers dotted with restaurants and cruise ships docked in the harbour.”

Android Auto Makes Lane Guidance Clearer

Moreover, Google Maps on Android Auto is getting a new improvement to the lane guidance features. The new improvement will make it easier for Google Maps users to read and follow while driving.

Google is improving arrow placements indicating which lane to be in. After the updates, the arrows will have more space between them, which will make the lanes clearer. This will highlight the correct lane for the users to easily follow.

The company is hoping this change will make navigation smoother. It will be more useful during complex driving situations.

Lane guidance is an old feature. However, users have often complained about how lanes in Google Maps are more scrunched together. It makes recognising the correct lane difficult while you are driving on the road.

All these updates will definitely improve the overall user experience on Google Maps.

However, we are waiting for Google to pay heed and roll out the much-anticipated incident reporting feature on Android Auto soon.

Apple Adds Nine Macs to ‘Obsolete’ List, Three Declared ‘Vintage’

Highlights

  • Apple has added nine older Mac models to its ‘obsolete’ list.

Apple is all set to launch the new M4 Macs soon. However, before we get to see the new Macs, the Cupertino giant has decided to mark some of its older Macs obsolete. As per a recent MacRumors report, Apple has officially ended support for a range of older Mac models.

According to MacRumors, Nine Macs have now been added to Apple’s ‘obsolete products’ list. Meanwhile, three have been classified as ‘vintage’ in the Apple Catalogue.

But what does this mean for users?

On its support page, Apple explains, “Products are considered vintage when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 5 and less than 7 years ago.” This doesn’t mean that the device will stop working but it’s just that the shelf life is further refused when a user doesn’t get regular updates.

How Does Apple Define Obsolete and Vintage Products?

Apple defines obsolete products as devices that were last sold more than seven years ago.

And what it means to have a product marked obsolete.

Well, once an Apple product is considered obsolete, Apple no longer offers repairs. Also, third-party service providers can’t order replacement parts for these products.

However, battery replacements for Mac laptops are an exception to this rule. Although it largely depends on component availability, battery replacement may be available for up to 10 years.

Vintage products, on the other hand, are the products that were discontinued between five and seven years ago.

Vintage models are still eligible for repairs. However, components most of the time become harder to find over time.

Apple declaring products obsolete or vintage marks an important shift for users holding onto older Mac models. It becomes much more difficult to find support and repairs for these devices.

Latest Additions to Apple’s Obsolete and Vintage Lists

Apple has recently marked the following nine Macs ‘obsolete’ –

  • MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, 2 TBT3)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, 4 TBT3)
  • MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
  • MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2016)
  • iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)
  • iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015)
  • iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

All the Nine Macs were preciously in Apple’s vintage list. However, Apple will no longer provide repair support for these products.

Apart from this, the three Macs recently added to the vintage list are as follows –

  • MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 TBT3)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2018, 4 TBT3)

In case you have been holding on to one of your older Macs and now find that listed above, we suggest it is time for you to get your old machines checked. The best thing you can do is to make sure it is in the best possible condition and change any parts soon if needed.

FAQs

Q1. What does it mean when an Apple product is marked as ‘obsolete’?

Answer. When an Apple product is marked as ‘obsolete’, it means the device was last sold more than seven years ago. Apple no longer offers repairs or replacement parts for these products and third-party service providers can’t order replacement parts.

Q2. Which Macbook Pros have recently been added to Apple’s ‘obsolete’ list?

Answer. The following MacBook Pro models have recently been added to Apple’s ‘obsolete’ list:

  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, 2 TBT3)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, 4 TBT3)
  • MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)
  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

Q3. What is the difference between Apple’s ‘obsolete’ and ‘vintage’ products?

Answer. Apple classifies products as ‘obsolete’ if they were last sold more than seven years ago. ‘Vintage’ products, on the other hand, are those discontinued between five and seven years ago.

  • The release is expected in March 2024.

With the iPhone 16 now in the market, attention is shifting to Apple’s next release and speculations are starting an early buzz. One might assume that the iPhone 17 might be the next in line but we are here to tell you that’s not what Apple plans.

Apparently, it’s the iPhone SE 4!

Expected to arrive in March 2024, this will be the first update to the iPhone SE in three years.

While official details are still under wraps, rumours suggest it promises to be the most significant redesign in the SE lineup’s history.

iPhone SE 4 – Here’s Everything We Know So Far (Rumours)

iPhone SE 4 – Design

Since 2020, the iPhone SE has stuck with the iPhone 8 design.

It boasts a 4.7-inch LCD, rounded edges, and a home button.

However, rumours suggest the upcoming iPhone SE 4 is set to do away with this standard look. Instead, the Apple design team will be favouring something much more modern.

Multiple reports claim that a design inspired by the iPhone 14 is on the cards for the next-generation SE model. We will most likely get a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, flat edges, Face ID, and a smaller notch.

However, not everything will be changing. The next iPhone SE will again come with a single camera. This is one aspect where it will not be like the iPhone 14, which had a dual-camera system.

Action Button and USB-C

If some reports are to be believed, one of the most exciting changes in the upcoming iPhone SE 4 is going to be the addition of the Action Button.

The button was first introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro. It is now included in the entire iPhone 16 lineup as well.

image

iPhone SE could replace the mute switch with a new customisable button. (Image credit – 91Mobiles)

This customisable button will replace the traditional mute switch. If true, this will offer iPhone SE users more functionality.

In addition, the iPhone SE 4 will mark the final transition away from Lightning connectors to USB-C. This will most likely happen because of the EU regulations.

So, now charging the iPhone SE will be simple. Users would be able to use the same USB-C cable they use for their iPads or Macbooks.

Apple Intelligence on the iPhone SE

image

iPhone SE 4 could get Apple Intelligence with features such as Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, Genmoji, and an all-new Siri. (Image credit – Apple)

It would be interesting to Apple Intelligence on the next iPhone SE, which will also be the cheapest iPhone.

iPhone SE 4 could come with Apple Intelligence since rumours suggest it would be powered by an A18 chip and will carry 8GB of RAM.

Apple Intelligence will bring key features such as Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, Genmoji, and an all-new Siri to the iPhone SE, making it a more interesting choice for users who are planning on buying a new iPhone for Apple Intelligence only.

Price and Lineup Changes

The iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to come with a higher price tag. It could start at $499 (approx INR 42,000).

For comparison, Apple currently sells the iPhone 14 for $599 (approx INR 52,000), and the SE 4 would offer similar performance for $100 (approx INR 9000) less.

The iPhone lineup could look like this after the SE 4 launch:

iPhone SE: $499 (approx INR 42,000)

iPhone 15: $699 (approx INR 70,000)

iPhone 15 Plus: $799 (approx INR 79,000)

iPhone 16: $799 (approx INR 70,000)

iPhone 16 Plus: $899 (approx INR 89,000)

iPhone 16 Pro: $999 (approx INR 1,19,000)

iPhone 16 Pro Max: $1199 (approx INR 1,64,000)

Certain reports suggest after the launch of the iPhone SE 4, there is a high chance of Apple discontinuing some older iPhone models. This is being speculated because all iPhones moving to USB-C and the SE 4 offering Apple Intelligence at a lower price.

All eyes are now on March 2024 and some official confirmation before that.

In a recent interview with British GQ, Apple’s design team heads Molly Anderson and Alan Dye discussed the latest in Apple Watch design, including the Apple Watch Series 10 and the new black Apple Watch Ultra 2. The interview highlighted some interesting design insights.

Here are some key highlights from the interview.

Apple Watch Series 10

Celebrating 10 years in the market, the Apple Watch Series 10 this year offers a fresh take on the smartwatch while staying true to the device’s original strengths.

Speaking to British GQ’s Robert Leedham, the Apple Watch design team revealed that one major change is the larger display. This allows Apple to shift design priorities.

Dye further shared that the team had mastered designing for small screens. However, now with a bigger display the design team had new opportunities to improve user experiences.  Dye remarks, “We got so great at designing for a very small display and that required real efficiency with every pixel.”

We may see more of these changes in the near future.

Apple Watch Ultra 2

If you were a little worried about scratching the new black Apple Watch Ultra 2, Anderson reassured users during the interview.

“The diamond-like carbon coating is even harder than the surface of natural titanium. If you scratch it on anything apart from maybe diamond, you’re going end up with that object on your watch rather than scratching the coating off,” Anderson explained.

How New Watch Face is Designed?

Alan Dye also shed light on how the Reflections watch face was created.

[Apple’s] new Reflections face is modelled on hand-carved guilloche dials, such as those found on many a Breguet and Audemars Piguet’s iconic Royal Oak, and uses the Watch’s inbuilt gyroscope, sensors and updated display to shimmer along with the sunlight on your wrist…“We got obsessed with understanding where the object was in any place or time and how we could actually cast reflections on it that feel like they come from the world around you,” says Dye.

Fun Facts from Apple’s Design Team

A few more insights about what goes into designing the smartwatch, bits and pieces from the interview include –

  • Many Apple designers still own and wear traditional analogue watches.
  • Dye enjoys spotting the Apple Watch on the red carpet at film premieres.
  • While Apple isn’t typically seen as a dive company, the team worked hard to include diving features in the Ultra and Series 10 models.
  • The design team is constantly challenging themselves, exploring new ideas, and is “not afraid of the new at all.”

As we are learning about these thoughtful design innovations and upgrades, Apple continues to refine the Watch experience.

  • The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold introduces a Dual Screen feature for video calls on Google Meet.
  • It allows simultaneous use of front and rear cameras.

Google released its second-generation Google Fold phone the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold during the Made by Google event in August 2024. While the phone received mixed reactions, it appears a new exclusive feature called Dual Screen for video calls that can be used on Google Meet. Here’s what we know about the new feature.

The Dual Screen will be a handy new feature that will allow users to show video from both your front and rear cameras at the same time during a call.

This will make it possible for Pixel 9 Pro Fold users to share both yourself and your surroundings at the same time with their caller.

Pixel 9 Pro Fold users would be able to enable the Dual Screen feature after starting a call by tapping a new icon that appears in the controls.

Once the feature is activated, the video feed will split into two with one half showing you and the other half displaying what’s in front of you. The person on the other side of the call will be able to see two displays on one screen from both the front and back cameras.

There’s also a Dual Display option, which can be turned off if you don’t want both feeds active.

The Dual Screen feature could be useful for both personal and official meetings when multiple views need to be shared.

It appears as of now this feature is exclusive to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold phone. However, certain reports suggest that it is unlikely to stay that way for long.

Google’s other foldable phone – the Galaxy Z Fold 6 would also be able to support the feature.

Reports also suggest that Google probably won’t limit such a useful feature to its own devices for long. This could be true with increased scrutiny from the EU as it is cracking down on tech giants giving their devices advantages in services.

Other than this exclusive feature for Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google Meet is also working on significantly revamping the service and adding a host of helpful add-ons.

The team recently rolled out the Meet Add-ons SDK for the web version of the app. This feature enables third-party developers to build custom experiences or activities for the video calling app.

The King Kong Guarantee offers five standout features –

image

One-year warranty for accidental water damage – Unlike most standard warranties that exclude liquid damage, this covers any mishaps with water for the first year.

Free screen replacement – If you crack your screen within the first year, Xiaomi will replace it for free.

Battery cover protection – Are you the type of user who drops their phone often? Well, if the battery cover gets damaged, Redmi will have you covered for a year.

Five-year battery warranty – The most generous feature of the program. If your battery health falls below 80% or you experience performance issues within five years, Xiaomi will replace it at no cost. This is a big deal, as most batteries begin to degrade after 2-3 years.

365-day replacement without repair – If you experience a hardware failure within the first year of purchasing the Redmi Note 14 Series, you’ll get a completely new device instead of a repair.

While everything about the King Kong Guarantee program is great, it is not without conditions. The first and biggest condition is that it doesn’t come free.

Certain medical reports suggest that you might need to pay around 595 yuan, which is approximately USD 85 / INR 7500, to activate this service.

However, it looks like Redmi believe the five-year battery warranty and accidental damage protection are rare benefits. Anyone who wishes to use their phone for that long shouldn’t have an issue paying a one-time fee for benefits that are usually reserved for high-end flagship phones.

While speculation around the terms & conditions of the new warranty program is going on before official confirmation, we have more details popping up.

In terms of processing power, the Pro might utilize the newly announced Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip. As for the Pro Plus, it could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7350 SoC.

Highlights

  • Qualcomm is reportedly exploring a full takeover of Intel.

If all the recent emerging reports are true, we may soon witness a significant takeover in the tech industry.

In a surprising and bold development, chipmaker Qualcomm is reportedly exploring the possibility of a full takeover of Intel. According to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, both sides have held discussions about the potential acquisition of the company best known for its computer processors.

However, the WSJ report maintains that no deal is certain as of now.

Intel is currently valued at $87 billion. While the company has been facing serious challenges in recent years, stocks have plummeted by 60% this year alone.

The company also faced a major setup a couple of years ago. It lost a major client, Apple in 2020 when the Cupertino giant decided to transition to its own Apple Silicon chips. Apple started building on the ARM architecture for Macs.

Moreover, Intel has also been struggling to satisfy its PC customers with its recent processor releases. The company faces competition from chip manufacturers like TSMC, which produces chips for big tech companies such as Apple and Nvidia.

Intel since last year has been attempting to stay competitive. The processor makers tried to acquire Tower Semiconductor in 2023 in an attempt to compete more effectively. However, this deal couldn’t see the light of the day due to regulatory issues.

The recent WSJ report also specifies that a potential Qualcomm takeover of Intel could face similar regulatory challenges.

Recently renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted a similar issue with the potential deal between the two companies. According to Kuo, the deal would face severe scrutiny from antitrust regulators. This is mainly because a merger could create a massive player in both mobile and PC chip-making space, massively increasing the combined market power of the two companies.

Kuo also highlighted how merging two such large and complex organisations would pose a significant challenge.

WSJ, while reporting this development, highlighted that one way to get around these hurdles could be for Qualcomm to sell off certain Intel assets to other buyers.

It is a good time to remember, that Apple back in 2019 bought Intel’s modem division for $1 billion.

Intel’s market position, although still a market leader, has been under question for some time now. Many PC manufacturers in recent years have been shifting toward ARM chips. These ARM chips are more energy-efficient and run cooler compared to Intel’s x86 architecture.

Earlier this year, the market saw Microsoft releasing Surface laptops equipped with Qualcomm’s ARM chips. This laptop during some benchmark tests outperformed Apple’s base M3 chip to surprise a lot of industry experts.

Some reports also question whether such an acquisition would be a good move for Qualcomm.

Experts believe turning around Intel, a company struggling to regain its competitive edge, could be a major challenge for Qualcomm. The acquisition would likely require Qualcomm to take on substantial debt, which isn’t advisable.

At this point, it’s unclear where the deal truly stands. However, if a deal does materialize, it could mark a major shift in the computer industry.

FAQs

Q3. What regulatory issues could the Qualcomm-Intel deal face?

The deal could face severe scrutiny from antitrust regulators, and Qualcomm might need to sell off some Intel assets to gain approval.

Q4. Why might the Qualcomm-Intel acquisition be challenging for Qualcomm?

Answer. Turning around Intel could be a major challenge for Qualcomm, requiring substantial debt and overcoming Intel’s recent struggles to regain its competitive edge.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models have been reaching customers after the shipping started on September 20th. It is, thus, that time of the year when we get to see several iPhone durability tests popping in online.

If you are an Apple fan or are just generally curious to see how Apple’s latest iPhone 16 lineup can handle drop tests or knife scratches, several videos are available online. Apart from entertainment, these durability tests sometimes reveal key details about the phones.

YouTuber Sam Kohl for the AppleTrack YouTube channel was among the first to release an iPhone 16 Pro durability test video this time. Kohl travelled all the way to Australia to be able to put the iPhone 16 Pro through the durability testing.

One thing Kohl observed while performing the tests was a potential weakness due to the thinner bezels on the iPhone 16 Pro. When the phone was dropped on its side, the impact seemed to directly affect the display’s functionality. However, the screen didn’t crack or shatter, which is good.

“On the iPhone 16 Pro, I think there’s a catch because the bezels are just so thin. So, when you’re getting something like a corner impact or something that just barely touches that edge of the screen, the display panel of the 16 Pro was extremely fragile and noticeably more so than on the 15 Pro,” Kohl highlights in his video.

However, Kohl in his videos noted that after performing all the tests he was sure that the iPhone 16 Pro is fares better in terms of durability as compared to the previous generation iPhone 15 Pro.  The tests caused less severe damage to the 16 Pro models from drops and impacts.

In another durability test video on TechRax, we get to see the direct use of a hammer and a knife on the iPhone 16 Pro.

As one might expect, using a knife on the titanium edges will cause scratches and so it did. And no matter how durable Apple tries to make its iPhone, if you smash the back of the phone with a hammer, it will shatter. The TechRax video demonstrates this on both the front and back of the phone.

In the coming days, we will get to see more drop and durability tests for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models. If these interests you, you can also expect teardown videos on several YouTube channels to give you a closer look at the internal components of the latest iPhone 16 models.
