Google has begun rolling out Photos Recap 2025, the latest edition of its annual year-in-review experience that transforms users’ photos and videos into a personalised highlight reel. Introduced last year, the feature is designed to help users revisit their most memorable moments, and the 2025 update adds more tools for customisation and sharing, according to Tommy Meaney, Senior Product Manager, Google Photos. Photos Recap 2025 uses a mix of photos, videos, refreshed graphics, and cinematic transitions to retell your year visually. Familiar stats return, including your top people and the total number of photos captured over the year. This year, Google has added a new metric about the number of selfies you took.

For users in the U.S. with Gemini features enabled in Google Photos, the Recap will also highlight standout hobbies and top moments based on the year’s activity. In response to user feedback, Google has introduced the option to hide specific people or individual photos from the Recap and regenerate an updated version afterwards.

New Tools to Create and Share Your Recap

Google has integrated a new Edit with CapCut button, enabling users to export their Recap directly into CapCut. There, they can choose from exclusive Google Photos templates for additional creative editing. Sharing has also been refined with a new carousel that automatically generates short videos and collages from the Recap, making it easier to post on social media or send in group chats.

Users can even share their Recap directly to WhatsApp Status.

Relive Your Best Moments All Month Long

The 2025 Recap will start appearing in the Memories carousel this week. If it doesn’t show up automatically, some users may see a prompt at the top of the Google Photos app offering the option to create it manually.

Once viewed, the Recap will shift to the back of the Memories carousel and stay pinned in the Collections tab throughout December. Users will continue to see additional 2025 highlight moments across the month as well.

Anyone can view, personalise, and share their 2025 Recap by opening the Google Photos app, where the feature is now rolling out.

Coming to its specifications, the Realme P4x 5G is equipped with a 6.72″ FHD+ IPS LCD Display that offers up to 144Hz screen refresh rate and up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness. The back panel has a dual rear camera setup, housed inside a pill-shaped camera module.

According to Spotify, Wrapped 2025 is its biggest and most ambitious version yet.

During a press briefing, Matt Luhks, Spotify’s Senior Director of Global Marketing, acknowledged the mixed reception of last year’s approach. He noted that the 2024 edition brought “a lot of feedback,” describing it as a balance of positive comments and “more constructive feedback,” even though it saw higher engagement than previous years.

“We take all of that in. We use that as information, insights, [and] inspiration for how we approached Wrapped this year,” Luhks said ahead of the rollout.

He added, “What our users tell us about Wrapped means a lot to us, so it was really informative in how we approached Wrapped this year. And what we tried to build was the most creative, most innovative, most engaging Wrapped ever.”

Starting “We’re the original and, we believe, still the best,” Luhks emphasised that the team set a high benchmark for the 2025 edition of the now 11-year-old tradition.

This year’s Wrapped introduces nearly a dozen new features alongside familiar staples such as top songs, top artists and top genres. Users also get more transparency into their data than ever before.

One of the biggest additions is Wrapped Party, Spotify’s first live multiplayer experience. Users can invite up to nine friends to compare listening habits in real time. Unlike simple side-by-side stat comparisons, Wrapped Party generates unique group insights like who is the “most obsessed fan,” the “early bird,” the “picky listener,” or the “dinner table explainer,” the person who listens to the most news-related podcasts. These labels update dynamically, ensuring each session is different.

Your Top Songs Playlist also gets an upgrade, now showing play counts for each track so you can visualise exactly how much time you spent with your favourite music.

HMD Global has expanded its lineup of ultra-basic feature phones with the introduction of three new models, the HMD 100, HMD 101 and HMD 102. This follows the earlier launch of another trio of 4G feature phones. While the fresh lineup sports an updated exterior, the overall feature set has been scaled back even further compared to the models announced previously. Here’s what we know about the new phones so far.

The official announcement was made by HMD CEO Jean-Francois Baril on LinkedIn. Baril confirmed that the new phones differ noticeably in design from the HMD 102 4G and HMD 101 4G unveiled in September.

Among the three, the HMD 102 stands as the most feature-rich model. It includes an MP3 player and a camera accompanied by an LED flash. The HMD 101 removes the camera entirely, while the HMD 100 appears to eliminate MP3 playback support as well, which likely means this model also skips the microSD slot, given the near-zero internal storage typical of basic feature phones.

Baril reiterated that the HMD 102 supports MP3 functionality, which suggests the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, all three new models seem to rely on microUSB ports for charging and connectivity. This could restrict their availability in regions like the European Union, where USB-C is mandatory for portable electronics.

Another notable detail is that HMD makes no mention of “4G” support in these new models. This is significant since many markets are phasing out 2G and 3G networks. The microUSB port requirement could further limit their release in countries with strict charging standards.

For regions requiring 4G connectivity and USB-C, HMD already offers alternative models such as the HMD 101 4G and HMD 102 4G. These versions also feature dual-SIM capabilities.
