What are your views on fitness? Do you take it seriously? Are you aware of devices that help you keep track on your health and fitness?

Brief Summary

The millennial generation is quite particular when it comes to health and fitness as they don’t want to leave any stone unturned to be in good shape as long as possible. It is our duty to look after our body, which is the basic factor to be in sound health even when age catches up.

There are many health issues prevalent in the society that people fall prey to right from a young age and a primary reason for it is their poor eating habits and hygiene apart from never eating and drinking healthy stuff.

Nowadays, the three basic necessities essential for survival- food, water, and oxygen, have become replete with pollutants due to which you need to be particular in what you eat and drink, which the millennials understand better than anyone and take the necessary steps to plan everything from the beginning.

It isn’t enough to exercise in the gym for several hours and build rippling muscles because if your diet is not up to the mark, then it doesn’t matter how long that you exercise or how ripped your physique is.

On top of that, the nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 in early 2020 lasted for nearly two years and this was the period when everyone was confined to their homes and started working from there itself.

Working from home is fine to a certain extent but it can definitely have a negative impact on your health due to the sedentary lifestyle your body becomes accustomed to. This is why fitness trackers are important for everyone as they help keep our health routines in check.

Fortunately, the demand for fitness wearables has increases in the past few years, with 2022 being arguably the best year for fitness smartwatches and we are going to look at some of the best ones in the market.

What are your views on OTT platforms? Are you satisfied with the content they roll out on OTT?

In Brief

There was a time when going to theatres was considered the ultimate way to spend your leisure time. It didn’t matter if the movie was good or bad but just to escape into a whole new world for 3 hours leaving all the tension and stress at the door was the way towards peace of mind.

Movie Theatres were considered a temple/shrine for movie lovers while the hero/heroines were the gods and goddesses of the silver screen. The older generation folks still remember when they went to watch a 3 hour movie in the dark screens of the theatre as they wanted nothing more than their money’s worth, which was fun, entertainment, and frolic.

Those were the days when the film’s success depended on whether it celebrated a silver jubilee (25 weeks) or golden jubilee (50 weeks) in the theatres during the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s, which also determined the brand value of the star and how long he will last in the business.

Things stared to change in the 90s when the multiplex revolution took over as big budget ventures started to be shown on IMAX and PVR cinema chains that proved highly beneficial for its owners.

The jubilee era soon gave way to the ‘100 Crore Club’ with the success of Aamir Khan’s Ghajini (2008), which was the inaugural film that made 100 crores throughout India, which was soon followed by the 1000 crore club.

Then came the over-the-top (OTT) platforms with the advent of Sacred Games (2014), which paved way for the OTT revolution in India that soon saw many other for many platform based web-series that met with massive success.

Now, in 2022, most people prefer watching movies on OTT platforms like Netfli x, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and many others rather than going to the theatre, unless it is a big budget action flick like RRR, KGF, or Brahmastra.

What are your thoughts on Ramayana- The Epic? What is your view of the countless movies and serials based on it? Find out.

In Brief

The name ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Rama’ send a wave of emotions in anyone who is an Indian or is familiar with the immortal epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata. Both have transcended the borders they were once confined to and have become beloved to even westerners.

Even today, you’ll find that there are countless debates that continue to rage on whether it is a myth or fictional story or a part of India’s ancient history- a real event that took place thousands and thousands of years ago.

We are living in a day and age where it is difficult to trust anybody and we choose to believe what we want to believe. There was a time in post-independent India when Ramayana and Mahabharata were dismissed as mere fiction with no reality to it.

However, things have changed, ever since the Archaeological Survey of India have unearthed many souvenirs from times long gone that provide conclusive proof that these events did happen, a fact that the western world acknowledges as well.

Rama is the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu who is believed to have lived in the Treta Yuga and on whom the whole Ramayana is based, which has been told time and time again since thousands of years since it took place.

Rama’s ideals continue to be preached to the younger generation as an example to follow and live life like he did. Ramayana continues to be taught in schools and has many popular movies and serials named after it.

Ramayana was written by renowned Sage Valmiki and the story is believed to have took place many centuries before the Mahabharata, which was written be Sage Vyasa and scribed by Lord Ganesh.

According to the Ramayana, Rama was born as the eldest son of Ayodhya’s King Dasharatha and his eldest queen Kaushalya. Dashratha’s two other wives, Sumitra and Kaikeyi, gave birth to twins Lakshmana & Shatrughna, and Bharat, respectively.

So Rama is the eldest, followed by Bharat, Lakshmana and Shatrughna, although Rama and Lakshmana were closer since childhood, as were Bharat and Shatrughna. While Rama is Vishnu’s incarnation, Lakshmana is said to be incarnated from Lord Shesha, the serpent on which Vishnu reclined.

Rama and Lakshmana had many adventurous exploits during childhood when they went to help Sage Vishwamitra to kill the demons that were an obstacle in completing his yagnas and, in the process, Rama also married Sita after stringing Lord Shiva’s bow as part of a competition to win her hand, which many powerful kings failed to accomplish.

When he was exiled from his kingdom for 14 years, both Sita and Lakshmana went with him where, one day, Sita was kidnapped by Ravana. Rama and Lakshmana, with an army of monkeys, including his devotee Hanuman, went to Lanka, Ravana’s island kingdom to slay the demon and rescue her.

Ramayana is many things to many people and has been told umpteen number of times in the past millennium. So it is only to be expected that it would spawn many movies and TV serials over the course of years, most of which have achieved popularity.

Ramayana

Ramayana in Pop Culture

Adipurush, a movie based on the Ramayana, has become the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons, as many people have not only criticised its VFX, character portrayals, but also livid that the makers have altered the history of the epic and that the actors portraying Rama, Ravana, and Hanuman, look nothing like they’re depicted in the story.

The core story of Ramayana is that it speaks about the triumph of good over evil, which is why it is a staple of Indian pop culture so here are some important serials and movies based upon it.

  • Ramayana (1987 Series)– This Ramanand Sagar vehicle is the most popular form of the epic we’ve seen so far. Released in 1987, it was based on two sources- Valmiki’s Ramayana and Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas that immediately took over the entire nation and in such a manner that roads and alleys throughout India came to a standstill whenever it was aired while the actors portraying the roles became famous overnight and remained enshrined in public memory as ‘Rama’, ‘Sita’, ‘Lakshmana’, among others.
  • Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama– It was an Indo-Japanese collaboration that was released in 1992 but was banned in India following the Babri Masjid demolition, but eventually became a popular animated version of the epic in the years that followedRamayana
  • Ramayana (2002 TV Series)– This was a BR Chopra venture, who also made the popular Mahabharata in the 1980s, who also roped in Nitish Bharadwaj to play Rama, who had interestingly played Shree Krishna in the 80s Mahabharata
  • Jai Hanuman (1997 TV Series)– A lesser known serial that focuses on the life of Hanuman, an avatar of Lord Shiva, as the story is told from his eyes and perspective
  • Raavan (2006 TV Series)– This is based on Ramayana’s antagonist, Ravana, and told from his perspective, which showcases his life and journey
  • Ramayana (2008 TV Series)– This version became extremely popular when it came out in 2008, which was a reboot of the 1987 version and made by Sagar Arts, the production house that made the original Ramayana in the 1980s
  • Siya Ke Ram (2015)– This one was different as it viewed Ramayana from Sita’s perspective and was very successful as viewers found it to be a fresh take on the story as Sita was the main focusSiya ke Ram
    • Raavan (2010 film)– This 2010 movie was made by Mani Ratnam starring real-life couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, which was based on Ramayana where Rai played a character kidnapped by a goon (Bachchan), due to which her policeman husband starts looking for her, resulting in a good vs evil battleRaavan
      • Baahubali Series– We end with the most popular Indian movie franchise of the past decade as Baahubali has many shades of both Ramayana and Mahabharata that is neatly reflected in all its characters and their portrayals that scripted history for Indian Cinema

Conclusion

It isn’t that these were the only movies and serials based on Ramayana as we also have Ram Rajya (1943), Sampoorna Ramayan (1961), Ramyug (2021), among others that may not ring a bell to the millennial generation but were extremely popular during their initial release although Ramyug is seen as a weaker version.

Saif Ali Khan and Suryakumar Yadav

In Brief

It is no question that Boult Audio is the fastest-growing consumer tech brand on the home turf that has achieved a considerable level of popularity in such a short span of time, which is no easy task.

Now the news is that it has roped in Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan and cricketer Suryakumar Yadav as its brand ambassadors, which will definitely be a double treat who’re fans of both celebrities as well as Boult Audio products as it will help boost its popularity among the target audience.

The company is optimistic that both major stars, in their respective fields, will do a great job of appealing to the aspirations of the millennials and inspire them to go for quality products, which include smart audio devices and smartwatches from the brand.

This will surely appeal to a broader consumer segment of the audience that constantly complain about the quality of devices being abysmal nowadays and Boult Audio will prove them wrong completely.

Boult Audio is well known for creating a massive buzz in the market, specifically its consumers prior to any new device coming out in the market and there is no exception this time as the excitement can be felt.

Himself a highly popular actor and musician who regularly give guitar concerts, Saif is style, talent, and character personified, which is rare to find in actors nowadays as the era of superstars and ‘star system’ is slowly coming to an end.

Saif Ali Khan did not have an easy start when he began his Bollywood journey in the early 1990s as the son of a famous cricketer and film actress, he had a lot to live up to his family name, which is why the 90s period were abysmal for him and the few successes he had were in multi-starrers where he was just another face onscreen.

Luckily things changed for him with Dil Chahta Hai (2001) as he forayed into various mediums of entertainment and enthralling his fans with many a versatile performance, which boosted his market value for which his personality, panache, and versatility blends with the brand ethos of Boult Audio.

Now coming to Suryakumar Yadav, he is popularly known as Sky, and currently is known as the best T20 batsman in the world who is well renowned for his fantastic run with many match-winning performances that will prove to be an inspiration for budding cricketers.

His recent form and electrifying batting style have made him a firm favourite and a bowler’s nightmare, which is why Boult Audio wants to capitalize on his star power to work on their brand value.

Surya Kumar is the highest run-scorer in T20s in 2022 and is currently ranked 2nd in the ICC T20I rankings, which is very similar to how Boult Audio has been skyrocketing with record-breaking performances that has enhanced its portfolio due to which its fanbase continues to grow with each passing day.

We also believe this will help us expand our horizons and reach out to a much broader audience. We are glad that Saif has agreed to become our brand ambassador since we cannot think of a better person to represent Boult Audio to our target audience and prospective consumers. Here’s to many years of a fabulous association.”

Saif Ali Khan too expressed his ecstasy about this brand-new association as he said, “Boult Audio is a brand I am elated to endorse because it is a brand that I’m personally fond of. I, being a musician myself, understand how important minute details are for a great hearing experience.

This aligns me perfectly with Boult Audio as the brand aces it when it comes to these details. I see a bright future for this young company and I am so pleased to be a part of this journey.”

In Brief

The Indian Mobile Congress event took place in New Delhi on October 1, 2022, where 5G services were officially launched in India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and was attended by many dignitaries, most of which were the who’s who of the tech industry.

It was also an occasion where Airtel and Reliance Jio rolled out their 5G services, which was met with a standing ovation while Ookla, a web service that gives a free analysis of internet performance via Speedtest.

Speedtest is for testing the performance speed of 5G services and the recent Speedtest intelligence report has revealed that its speed is 500Mbps where it is expected to be much more than 4G LTE.

Ookla had conducted the 5G speed test prior to the 5G services’ launch on October 1 while telecom operators are continuing to gauge their speed and network as they expect more stability in both.

While some experts have voiced their doubts regarding 5G’s speed vis-à-vis 4G LTE, the Ookla reports claim that this is highly plausible under conditions like ideal network coverage and no network congestion.

Jio too had its own speed test done in New Delhi in June 2022 where it was found that it had a 600Mbps median download speed while the same for Airtel was 197.98Mbps.  The same report also claimed that nearly 89% of the people of India were ready to upgrade to 5G.

5g speed

Among the brands that are ready to switch to 5G include Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Realme, Sony, among others but it is the iPhone that is said to be more capable of handling 5G services as iPhone 12 is said to be the most popular 5G handset in the country.

Conclusion

5G services were launched with much fanfare as all the telecom companies are testing it out in numerous cities with Airtel alone accounting for 8 smart cities of India where it has successfully tested 5G network and found that it is perfect in most smartphones.

Other companies like Reliance Jio too are following suit so it can be said that things are going smooth, as of now, as there have been numerous 5G tests conducted in different parts of India.

Noise IntelliBuds comes at a starting price of Rs.4,999 that will be available for purchase from the company’s official website, GoNoise.com, from October 14, 2022, which is touted to be India’s first gesture controlled TWS earbuds that come with AI neural net through which they can differentiate between intentional and unintentional head movements.

This means that users just need to nod to answer an incoming call and shake their head to reject it or change a song in the playlist that they don’t want to listen to. What is unique about the gesture buds is that they can work perfectly even when the wearer is standing, sitting, walking, running, using the stairs, etc.

The earbuds come in two colour options- Black and White and also support Hot Voice Commands that not only allow them to accept or reject calls and play/pause/change a song but also in enabling or disabling the Transparency Mode (which cuts out background noises) where users just need to say ‘Hey Headphones’.

The earbuds are also endowed with the Music Sharing feature where users don’t need the main device for connecting two IntelliBuds as there is a Press-and-hold input on the right and left earbud, which are primary and secondary, respectively.

Noise IntelliBuds come with a 6,000mAh battery power that lasts up to 36 hours on a single charge, along with the ability to support Instacharge fast charging, Smart Battery Optimization, and HyperSync feature.

You can even take remote selfies with the help of these buds while there is the NoiseFit Smart App and Customizer Equalizer, among other features that have to be seen to be believed.

  • Google Play Points will be available over the next week
  • Truecaller, Ludo King are participating in Google Play Points
  • The programme involves four levels based on user spending

Do you own an Android smartphone? What all games do you like to play? Are you satisfied with the offers that Google Play Store has?

In Brief

We all are fond of playing games from time to time despite having crossed that age long back. It could be because there are still those that never lose their rebellious streak or maybe perhaps, we still have a little child buried deep within us that yearns to come out every once in a while.

There are two operating systems that are found in smartphones of different brands- Android and iOS, and most of us own either one or both models where they have their own significance.

When it comes to choosing games, Android has the Google Play Store while Apple iOS comes with an App Store, where there are a variety of gaming apps and other platforms that come up at regular intervals.

Google Play Points

Google Play Store is coming out with a new feature programme called Google Play Points, which is touted to be an initiative to hand out rewards, and is expected to be launched in India in the second week of October 2022, although official confirmation is yet to come out.

The good news is that there is no monthly or recurring fee that you need to join this programme as all you need to do is to tap your profile icon from Google Play Store on your Android smartphone.

There are going to be four different levels in Google Play Points Programme viz. Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, which are based on the number of points collected by the players where everyone gets numerous perks, conveniences, and prizes, with each new level depending on the tier the player is in.

Google has had long term associations with many game developers and popular applications with India alone having more than 30 players that Google has partnered with, which include the likes of Ludo Star, Ludo King, 8 Ball Pool, Evony: The King’s Return, with Truecaller and Mysa added for good measure.

If any player wants to have his points redeemed, he/she can do it via Google Play Credit while the programme itself is available in more than 28 countries while Google has claimed that it has been used by more than 100 users.

Conclusion

Google Play Points Programme was first launched in Japan in September 2018 in a bid to encourage players to buy stuff through Google Play Store, while US and South Korea had their launches the following year, which allowed Google Play Store to provide a good competition to App Store.’
