The much-anticipated Android 14 update is now available on various smartphones worldwide, following its initial launch on Google’s Pixel 8 series.

Google, the creator of Android, has also extended the update to its earlier Pixel models.

However, it’s not all smooth sailing; multiple Pixel 6 series users report that the update has consumed their device’s entire storage space.

This issue first gained attention through an article by 9to5Google.
The publication noted that affected users were encountering difficulties performing elementary functions, such as downloading files or taking photos.

The devices displayed error messages like “Download failed” or “Device out of storage.”
According to Reddit discussions, this issue seems to stem from having multiple profiles on the Pixel 6 before updating to Android 14.

In this situation, the primary profile loses access to the phone’s internal storage and all installed applications.
Interestingly, secondary profiles are unaffected.

Although Android’s user profile feature is not commonly utilized—mainly serving to segregate work and personal accounts—it has been the source of consistent issues for a certain group of users.

The problems include apps indicating zero available storage, Google Photos failing to update user libraries and showing only low-quality previews, and an inability to access files when the phone is connected to a PC via USB, as reported by one of our readers.
