Hard to witness but many big companies are on a mass lay-off spree, the reasons can vary but the bottom line is employees are getting terminated from their prestigious positions of renowned names, among these names we have recently got Amazon. This multinational e-commerce industry has resorted to terminating a number of its employees from different departments; moreover, Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy added to this new development that the company is observing the decision to lay off more employees after already laying off 3 percent of the workforce through emails. The reason that has surfaced for this fiasco step by the e-commerce giant is due to the “unusual and uncertain macroeconomic environments.”

The company shared its opinion on resuming their operation to slack down some more employees possibly the next year 2023 on the recent conversation with the Amazon’s CEO, Jassy conveyed his idea “Yesterday, we communicated the difficult decision to eliminate a number of positions across our Devices and Books businesses, and also announced a voluntary reduction offer for some employees in our People, Experience, and Technology (PXT) organization. Our annual planning process extends into the new year, which means there will be more role reductions as leaders continue to make adjustments.”

Further he also added addressing the steps the company will be taking ahead about the continuation of the lay off process “Those decisions will be shared with impacted employees and organizations early in 2023. We haven’t concluded yet exactly how many other roles will be impacted (we know that there will be reductions in our Stores and PXT organizations), but each leader will communicate to their respective teams when we have the details nailed down. And, as has been the case this week, we will prioritize communicating directly with impacted employees before making broad public or internal announcements.”

Besides this, the CEO has also cleared the air about how the further layoffs will take place, along with why the company is taking a little time before laying off the employees and what plan has the company jotted down to lower the termination levels as the company seems to be making a plan regarding the recovery ammonut for its terminated employees. As the CEO has not given a clear picture; however, given an idea by stating that “We are working to support those who are affected and trying to help them find new roles on teams that have a need; and in cases where that’s not possible, we are offering packages that include a separation payment, transitional health insurance benefits, and external job placement support.”

Conclusion

As Amazon is having words about having a layoff round 2, with which the company will be terminating 10,000 employees in total; however the company is trying to save the interest of their employees but if left helpless they will lay off a good number of employees by the next year 2023. Right now, Amazon is looking for ways to decrease the number of further termination and scrutinize employees’ performance.
