YouTube’s adoption of artificial intelligence has been growing increasingly strong with every passing day, and its latest offering is an experimental feature known as ‘Dream Screen’.
Dream Screen will let creators AI-generate green screen image backgrounds for their Shorts videos.
YouTube introduced Dream Track just last month, a set of AI tools that help creators make unique music for their Shorts.
This came shortly after the launch of AI-generated voice tracks.
Last month, YouTube expanded the suite to include AI-generated instrumental-only soundtracks.
The feature of Dream Screen is taking YouTube AI a level up.
This feature allows selected creators to generate AI-powered background images for their image green screens in Shorts.
This unique tool allows users to describe their desired background through text prompts, which the AI generates as a visual backdrop.
For those creators eligible for the feature, the process has been fairly simplified by YouTube.
This includes opening the YouTube app, selecting the ‘Green Screen’ tool under the creation option, and typing a text description of the image or video that they would like as a background.
The new AI-generated backdrop can now be introduced into any Shorts recording.
At the moment, Dream Screen is only accessible for a few creators, registered within the experimental group of YouTube.
That being said, YouTube has mentioned that it will provide access to this feature gradually, throughout the year, for the creators using the AI capabilities of this feature.
Please, keep in mind that right now, Dream Screen only supports English language text prompts.
That might be an additional barrier for all kinds of creators that operate in other languages; however, in future updates, this could change because YouTube is working on this continuously.
If you’re a creator in the Dream Screen experiment group, you can access the feature by following these steps:
Step 1: Open the YouTube app.
Step 2: Tap Create (the plus icon).
Step 3: From the right menu, tap the Green screen option.
Step 4: From the bottom, select the purplish square icon with a little star inside it. Then, create an image or video.
Step 5: Describe the content you would like to generate.
Step 6: Tap Create preview.
Step 7: Select and post your video
For images: Choose a generated image and use the image as a green screen background to record over it.
For video: Use the generated video as a green screen and record yourself along with it.
Step 8: Then you can add details to your video, such as description and the privacy settings.
Step 9: Tap Upload short to publish.
You can currently only enter text prompts in English.
Dream Screen is an experimental AI tool that allows creators to generate green screen backgrounds for their Shorts videos using text prompts.
It allows creators to easily add AI-generated visual backdrops by simply typing a description of the desired background, making the Shorts creation process more dynamic and creative.
Dream Screen is currently available to a select group of creators who are part of YouTube’s experimental testing group. It will be gradually rolled out to more users throughout the year.
Dream Track introduced AI-generated music for Shorts, including instrumental-only soundtracks and voice tracks, enhancing the creative possibilities for Shorts creators.
Eligible creators can access Dream Screen by opening the YouTube app, selecting the ‘Green Screen’ tool, and entering a text description of the desired background.
