WhatsApp is set to roll out some more new features aimed at improving user experience.
You can say that the updates concern better notification control over you status update and surprisingly the ability to transfer files…. wait for it.. offline.
“We believe that the ability to turn off notifications for like reactions might bring some advantages, as it will help users reduce distractions, especially for those who receive a high volume of status reactions. It will also offer users more control over these new status reactions, allowing them to manage their communication according to their own preferences,” mentions the report.

Your phone’s always buzzing because everyone and their neighbour reacted to your WhatsApp status?
Not anymore, hopefully.
WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that will allow you to manage notifications for reactions to your status updates.
For the uninitiated, WhatsApp statuses, like Instagram stories, are temporary updates that disappear after 24 hours.
You could react in likeness to each status update you see but with this upcoming feature, spotted in the latest version of WhatsApp Beta for Android (v2.24.9.29), you’ll have the option to disable notifications for these reactions.
Not sure if it will be available for iOS or not.
However, saving the best for last, WhatsApp is reportedly working on an offline file-sharing feature that could revolutionize the way we exchange data.
Dubbed “People nearby,” this feature will allow you to share any content between two phones instantly and securely, thanks to end-to-end encryption.
While the exact details of how this feat will be achieved are still under wraps, we can assume that WhatsApp might leverage Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, similar to Google’s Fast Pair-based Quick Share feature for Android phones or Apple’s AirDrop for iPhones.
Imagine being able to share countless photos or videos without worrying about cellular data bills or slow internet connections.
This feature could be a game-changer, especially in areas with limited or unreliable internet access.
Again, not exactly sure when or if iOS users are going to get this update.
Usually, what follows on Android generally makes its way to iPhone users as well, so keep your fingers crossed.
While the feature was initially spotted in the Android beta version, it’s highly likely that WhatsApp will roll it out to iOS users as well, ensuring a consistent experience across platforms.
Although the specifics are still unknown, it’s expected that WhatsApp will use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to facilitate the seamless transfer of files between devices.
Users will need to grant WhatsApp access to their photos, media, and files, and the recipient will need to have the “People nearby” feature enabled to receive the content.
As of now, there is no confirmed information regarding the maximum file size that can be shared using this feature. However, given WhatsApp’s focus on seamless data transfer, it’s reasonable to expect that large files will be accommodated.
Since the feature is still in development, it’s difficult to say whether it will be available for both Android and iOS devices from the outset.
However, given WhatsApp’s cross-platform nature, it’s likely that the feature will eventually be rolled out to all supported devices.
