WhatsApp rolled out new privacy features, here’s how to use it

WhatsApp just rolled out new and improved features for group calls.  Now you have more options while being in a group call on WhatsApp. Now it has another great set of new features to help you maintain your privacy a little more. WhatsApp has now confirmed that the users will be able to hide their profile pictures and last seen from some selected contacts they wish to keep it from. The update is available for both the operating systems and will soon be rolled out to everyone.

WhatsApp introduced new privacy features: Users can hide profile photos and last seen from selected contacts

Earlier, WhatsApp did give the users option to hide their profile pictures from all contacts or the unknown contacts. There were only three options: Everyone, My Contacts, and Nobody options. However, this was quite a straightforward thing. Now you can have full control over your privacy. You can select who can see your picture and who can just scroll your profile without getting a look at you.

The updated tab will sport four primary options: Everyone, My Contacts, My contacts except, and Nobody options. Users can select the ‘My contacts except’ option to hide their profile picture and last seen from a specific person. Let’s take a look at how to WhatsApp profile photo and last seen from a specific contact.

New privacy feature availability

The latest feature is available for both iOS and Android users. If you still haven’t got the option, you can try updating your app from Play Store or App Store. We can already hide the status from select contacts and also share the status with a specific person. Similarly, you can hide your last seen and profile photo from select contacts. Here’s how to do it.

How To Hide WhatsApp Profile Photo, Last Seen From Specific Contact

Step 1: Open your WhatsApp on your Android or iPhone.

Step 2: Click on the three-dot option.

Step 3: Head over to Settings > Account > Privacy > Profile Photo.

Step 4: Now, select ‘My contacts except’ and choose specific contacts that whom you want to hide your profile photo.

Talking about the last seen update, you can tap on the Last seen > My contacts except > select contacts to hide your WhatsApp last seen. Besides, users can also hide their ‘About’ from select contacts. WhatsApp, the Meta-owned instant messaging app is quite popular and used by everyone worldwide. It is also introducing one after another new feature to enhance the user experience. Additionally, the messaging app is giving chance to users to win up to Rs. 105 via its UPI payment option.

Other feature updates on WhatsApp

Also, in related news, Father’s Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday in June. This year, it falls on June 19. On this occasion of Father’s Day, the Meta-owned popular instant messaging application WhatsApp has cumulated a list of tips and tricks that will ensure online safety for mothers and fathers alike.

Just like the recent functionality, where you can add more members to any group, now you would be able to mute a specific person during video calls. One of the highlights of this upcoming functionality is that you would be able to mute any person, including the host. The upcoming was also pointed out previously as the video calling feature lacked a few functionalities.

Another great functionality that the app is currently offering is the option for iPhone users to migrate all their data to Android phones and vice versa. The transfer is totally secure and end-to-end encrypted says the platform. Earlier, it was a painful task to transfer WhatsApp data between Android and iOS devices. In fact, it was not possible to transfer a chat backup from an Android to an iOS device. Currently, the update is available for beta users.
