Meta is pulling a pretty nifty trick out of the AI hat for WhatsApp users across the world.
Currently, those in the US can now summon images into existence through the power of their imagination…well, aided by some advanced AI trickery, that is.
Here’s how it works: fire up a chat with Meta’s AI assistant, then kick things off with the magic word “Imagine” followed by whatever scene you wish to manifest.
It is Meta’s version of a diffusion model that works on Dall-E3 and MidJourney.
As you keep typing away and fleshing out the details, the AI will conjure up the visuals on the fly that morph with your descriptive words.
Let’s say you fantasize about “a soccer game on mars”.
At first, you’ll likely see a basic pitch and player materialize.
But once you lay on the “mars” part, the AI will go full Martian mode, adapting the landscape into an extraterrestrial arena for the beautiful game.
Pretty wild, right?
But Meta’s AI image wizardry doesn’t stop there.
The company boasts that its new Llama 3 model can now render super sharp, high-def visuals that even handle text with much more finesse.
Oh, and it gets better – you can actually get the AI to animate any old image into a living, breathing GIF.
The global roll-out for this is going to be imminent but for now, this image-crafting feature is being beta-tested exclusively for the US market.
But it’s also available through Meta’s web AI interface for those Stateside.
Clearly, Meta is going all-in on baking advanced AI capabilities into its entire app smorgasbord – WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, you name it.
In WhatsApp, users can start a chat with Meta’s AI assistant, use the prompt “Imagine,” and describe any scene to generate images.
The AI uses diffusion models like Dall-E3 and MidJourney to create and adapt visuals based on user input.
The Llama 3 model by Meta is capable of rendering sharp, high-definition visuals and handling text within images with greater accuracy, enhancing the overall quality and detail of the AI-generated content.
Currently, the AI image feature is available for beta testing exclusively in the US and can also be accessed through Meta’s web AI interface for users within the United States.
Yes, one of the exciting capabilities of this new feature is turning any static image into a dynamic GIF, bringing visuals to life directly within WhatsApp conversations.
Meta plans to integrate advanced AI capabilities across its suite of applications, including Instagram and Facebook, suggesting that this image creation feature could eventually expand to other platforms enhancing user interaction.
