But an unexpected unboxing video on YouTube has revealed most key details.

A 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro was featured in an unboxing video posted on YouTube and revealed the most significant upgrades the device will be getting.

The unboxing video was shared by the Russian YouTube channel Wylsacom.

We can confirm that it featured a genuine M4 MacBook Pro because even trusted Bloomberg’s Apple reporter Mark Gurman from Bloomberg shared the video, basically validating its authenticity.

Unconfirmed but looks fairly legitimate: a Russian YouTube channel claims to have the yet to be announced M4 MacBook Pro and gave it a full unboxing and hands-on. We’ve seen prototypes leak early but never a full retail Apple device weeks in advance.

It is an upgrade from the 8-core M3 chip in last year’s model. This upgrade in cores is expected to boost performance by around 25% with benchmark results supporting this claim.

In Geekbench 6 tests, the new M4 MacBook scored –

• 15288 points in multi-core performance

For comparison, last year’s 16-inch MacBook Pro scored –

• 20881 points in multi-core

Increased Base RAM

The packaging box label shows 16GB of RAM. This suggests Apple is raising the minimum RAM for its new MacBooks.

However, it’s still unclear if this is the base model or a higher-tier version.

Thunderbolt 4 Ports

As per the unboxing video, we can confirm that the M4 MacBook Pro now features three Thunderbolt 4 ports. Comparatively, the previous model had two Thunderbolt 3 ports.
